TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy./ E& e# s& X. W6 { T* R
Clarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
" Q5 x, F& j2 Z6 M' s2 ]There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

. h8 ]1 F0 K# k4 L0 oThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
