. r3 N. F' l+ WThe Liberals’ first federal budget was released earlier this week, and in it $570-million dollars was allocated for Canada’s tourism sector.

  Q* }5 W8 ~9 `  h3 |. nRoyce Chwin, the CEO of Travel Alberta, tells the Alberta Morning News how some of that money will be spent right here in Alberta.

“$83.3-million, in terms of free admission for national parks, so that of course will apply here in Banff and Jasper as an example. It also looks like there’s an investment of about $66-million for new biking and walking trail within Jasper National Park.”

4 p" T4 A+ b9 P5 m; b6 G9 _! ?$ [Chwin adds that with the low Canadian dollar he expects we’ll see more Albertan’s traveling within our borders, rather than heading to the States.

That’s going to show a number of itineraries and road trips throughout the province. Those are great suggestions for Albertans or other Canadians who decide to take a staycation, and want to see something new and different.”

In 2017 all national parks in Canada will be free, to celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday.

% W9 x2 ^( z+ k  i) G% a& T# jVIA Rail will also get 34 million dollars for maintenance and upgrades.
