/ } u$ a; n3 cEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.* l0 P* c$ v9 q; a9 m% k
* y- q4 L# v) n! pPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

4 W- U) n1 V; E/ E/ X8 k4 l"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
