Edmonton home builders working 'flat out' to meet demand

Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.* u' c# `2 K( W

Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013. r u" i! ` A% g F& V7 M4 U4 _! d5 X
( B% h/ x, r6 C7 ~/ E# ~“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.) S0 u/ p+ {5 ^ i( h& g: p

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
