What does Garmin mean

Garmin is the most famous brand for GPS, but I just found out the real meaning of Garmin.

One of the founders of the company is Min H. Kao. Chinese name 高民 （环）. Thus Dr. Gao just used his name as the brand name of his newly invented GPS in 1989.

Kao from a defense contractor Magnavox while working for the former King Radio.[3] The pair founded Garmin in 1989 in Lenexa, Kansas[citation needed] as ProNav. ProNav's first product was a GPS unit which sold for $2,500 USD. In 1991, it got the US Army as the first customer.[4]"
