1 Y9 g4 ]& l5 e. n0 z, o' b
$ e" Q- J2 \# h- }6 G3 z
        1. I couldn't care less. ; C& y( @; ~' [8 j
' ~2 b- O! f8 i1 j# R9 T
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
) R# @- D/ P' U4 @' d1 v
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 4 u7 q4 \# S& w" T2 Y) l

; o0 J9 Y/ A, I% [$ `; p  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
8 {9 T7 T& ^9 m" ~; i2 v
# a3 J" L  r4 Z0 w( Q  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) ' p( x, H' }" }& }3 ^) C
; ~. T+ F( }: \, a
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) # Q! d8 f7 Y) `

0 i* ~4 z+ l3 d) R! h% d; y9 Z# s1 ^: `0 Q
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
3 `9 o  @  ?) A! T" D* @
" m+ o# j( n) e$ V  而实际上他是根本在乎升级和加薪的,那么人家也许就会回答说: Yes, you do(care). ' q5 P5 Z. r  J/ S% G) a, w" w

' }6 h. W6 T. O* U. i7 E: g  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: ! k8 w, i; u1 v; _! h

+ _* G9 _) L2 ~" q4 I# M/ ?  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
5 W' y0 r8 j! n' J  |. t, P! \
! d9 R0 \8 H/ q  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
0 I& b; n- z/ U4 t4 b5 y+ @: h# B1 ~6 q, k  ^% j0 Q
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 0 e- O9 M( R0 x+ _! e! n

H& l* Q& x/ D. S5 N
$ ^7 ?# }0 z- d9 J& j% m) J
  I couldn't be more wrong. & b1 S* S2 _( b8 I8 f8 }) v/ \# M

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 3 d  t% C+ R! e( @+ t. C
0 m/ [: P, Y% a
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
6 ]. Y4 f0 ?7 u- ?) z! G9 g  {5 e- U  s# V
  2. No bones about it. ; v5 e7 J$ W( o' x- F8 k

& P2 t4 ?: G% A  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
% m/ k; m9 t, t( f+ U7 x/ v" Q( q* f+ L, ~5 ^
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
: {1 E) h7 H' X. {4 }! o. B% N/ @3 F+ f1 D
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
4 V% Y7 e6 ], u$ [7 Z
0 Y' v- H( J# ?4 G9 @  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
* d7 B: d  ]( M) t! Y3 |
. @8 O4 Y3 E" Z* J$ x: g  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
# t1 V6 [! f3 g8 u( n' b- y* q1 e9 E! U: _2 N+ ^$ i8 e
  3. take it on me!
8 J1 x8 e" a* b/ C9 N7 h2 h7 |8 l/ L% @0 W2 n2 E
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: 2 q, k9 Z: ?  W5 _9 n0 n$ h$ f
: g5 H6 b, M9 A! g$ k
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) * T6 {; u! Z/ P
, }% a: }0 t+ e7 N9 U: {, @
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
# o+ _0 T! ?6 N- Q6 d; |* y+ D+ ^$ y! m8 C4 M
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
$ p5 O: n0 {: `7 D- D) |/ o1 @7 z8 D3 Q" V
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) / f- N9 p- `6 i5 G: w
7 X  V' Q( p& q. j
  4. I am from Missouri.
& e3 N3 g6 g# P+ G6 u% Z4 h0 @/ q5 p3 e* F" G
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 " a9 ~; s$ _7 |

9 Q  k, W- Q) G6 `4 u& `$ z: ^8 n. O  q$ G! t! s! e6 d
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. ' d9 ]% n1 A( m4 t% w

1 [$ v5 o8 R( T3 _+ F9 E) z  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
6 N  u; p" K" F5 [' ^7 ^4 k
8 E5 P) a/ p* H' N2 I/ F2 ^  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
' T6 B" d; I/ P0 C; H8 L( f3 w7 X% t
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
