of the new Nikon D800. Established medium-format image quality is

+ T6 X8 o2 k. c+ Ewithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color; L4 V5 p* u+ H# i9 o
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance3 E& f" I+ F, @
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
# k0 p% X. o% K. X5 ]4 h# eallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
+ P1 m" c9 K) p; `6 u$ m$ u9 ]without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
( O2 U3 M7 B; f7 P4 v+ R3 ewas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
) q, h: R% x- I4 } d- j3 bimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was& j& s' X/ z3 y( O; L: h# b
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and$ j3 E# F+ _. E, y2 F: X
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown- I$ w o% P- c7 n( H: [6 r
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,' Y7 p" j: p$ S1 s# ~. u
thanks to the D800.
- Q! E0 `6 {+ C8 r L3 m6 [When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,

range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces) ]* E9 M9 Y. y" N
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a' I1 r9 {/ K% V" U4 e0 J% b
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
- k/ J, B* h/ I# ]has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
0 M9 a" {/ a _7 R6 M6 g" P& a P4 weasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
4 l2 E: ^$ P9 ]* Y7 w% W: ialso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
) [4 Z4 d) `6 U d% ecameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
# a8 a* K) c$ a$ y2 C6 Iin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
+ n8 R" ~6 m; e4 @5 C7 w& O- jprints and video.% E" a' r" p0 S" U
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
' _( y2 a( O/ P0 B. \4 hnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
9 F, E/ Z O0 \) M8 Q1 Qare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
; l2 D: b9 Y7 ?0 f3 Q1 o, pcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
1 N; L+ I& x: osight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
, T; w2 l% d* [; ]; y& n1 klike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of8 \. ^; l& L4 t) I: l
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
2 |% ^5 X1 o6 Q+ C8 O: {am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as5 O4 O: ~5 p; x% \) U
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse' o) p# n- b* ~% m( e) w: z+ H
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
7 m/ X- H7 s% i: I$ Q) F. L mtremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
& E) c- C d$ fD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
2 y0 p' a$ z/ mis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
! l" v4 O" [8 t0 }As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
( O* }+ c/ j0 {4 }3 j8 zcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal0 R S6 }( C% b3 Q
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for( i$ h$ S% c! _/ _- i5 e$ G, u0 M+ S

: B, W5 X1 K3 G6 G- H/ H9 e5 Iarchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
& _9 e8 P1 L0 z" ~perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
# p' V+ h7 j a, ~& n" C& l2 lclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
