Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
' t& T5 \% ]. V; l0 D9 J$ mwithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
! v) J0 n% s+ B5 mmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance* m" v7 a- V! e1 T0 C& G$ n- L5 X9 w. P
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8007 w8 H! |5 a& a ~ j
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject

was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum

widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and3 ~8 i/ p7 G( I& i) k
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
+ q8 P+ A3 J- H( C3 C- _6 m3 {before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,& m0 ]/ A: r4 z, r( R: b4 X: g+ i' W
thanks to the D800.
7 w/ C" ~3 b& h' AWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,0 N8 U9 g2 ^- D+ U2 k7 c
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
( C. {4 z; S% j5 Y M3 K9 w: erange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
4 g: @% G& t- Vthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a% i: R% w7 V: S; Y6 H) u3 s
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
* _& Q- s2 }& N0 b8 k7 pwell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.+ H( N4 M! D$ U/ X! _! A5 }' s
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
u. L: X# \$ n# I$ m5 Qhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is! a* Z# I: ^; w+ R2 j: F2 H
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
5 X, i0 b' m5 x# Falso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
0 b8 z" ?, t+ J, ncameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features" O3 f8 M* X5 S% R5 W
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality- n/ J; ]2 K5 W* w
prints and video.
2 D, O% R5 s" c7 x3 MTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
0 D& L* F" i u3 y6 Lnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models+ H( r T- C# [: [, X* z
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using& b! q+ c5 l5 \, z- l- k& i
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
4 T1 ]: j0 Z- S7 fsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
8 m f8 H5 G* N O1 R1 [1 ?like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
6 f7 A% X+ c* L! Jacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I! ^6 {0 ~; M3 n c
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as; `6 U2 @# Q" _$ Y
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse( F% f9 j+ H1 q8 S$ E8 r
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
& w V; k# n$ X' ~! y/ g+ n* a+ Ttremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
* }% ]; ?$ D" ?2 }D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
$ Q( u- ~. K H3 wis that now I will think differently about the images I make." v* b3 [) ], |# U" N& E% D; v
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,8 {" j5 F2 h2 {( Z
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
9 ~3 L$ Y2 x, }. j3 W4 ?artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they

to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional$ z1 N4 o& f3 d. M7 D
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
