• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
2 z' g' `" P! M) j• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components t) o1 V, O" I; ?8 o |+ o* k
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers5 A! ?$ t( m4 t/ K% r/ F
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams. e- K3 z! c( K6 |5 u6 i8 D( w
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
$ B9 Q3 b; b$ N7 x# @2 }• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
( u! ~/ G; z9 E& |5 v• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools; G. _% }' m" I Q" ^; O
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
^. V5 B# c% R/ v. Y' a* ~% v• Mix paint, blend and match colors7 c. t. X4 N) E: |) D) w1 `
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
: H* Q" M6 X" W6 _$ ?" Y0 Z• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs, I$ ?6 `% q, @/ z
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
; z& ~+ W4 Y- i8 Z. F2 X• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling

• Completion of secondary school is required$ ?8 ?! X7 A W, L3 B9 o& b
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program

A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
! j4 u0 x/ J2 N. c! }• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
