Position Profile  
9 l+ Z" e6 u/ l: p5 u" p- {Electricians perform electrical inspection, maintenance, and repair activities on locomotives in the repair shop, on service tracks, or other railroad property. They have a good grasp of basic electronics, computer systems, fuel injector systems, and locomotive failures.

They are also generally responsible for tasks such as:
Repairing
& |$ o0 u3 X! d4 ]& }# ]  Z' z or replacing small components
  X. W6 [7 ]5 q, `7 R2 B
Monitoring electrical components
/ E% j$ a* H2 G: Y0 j$ {
Troubleshooting electrical problems

Testing circuits and connections using electrical test equipment
Other job requirements include:

Understanding and/or providing written, graphic, and oral instructions

Apprentices

Good eye-hand coordination

Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 pounds

1 M+ ?& H, y2 ?: H9 k+ zAbility to do physical work, sometimes outdoors in extreme weather conditions

Regular exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, noise and vibrations

Work is performed in a heavy industrial shop and outdoors as required with regular exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, noise and vibrations
Candidates should expect to work weekends and shifts, especially nights and afternoons in support of a 24/7 operation.
