YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
/ R% ^* H7 k& B0 E' v" QAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 g, r/ _- a1 R" Jnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
" t, j0 ]$ {: a4 M$ g
3 x& H$ d! g& K. T6 D4 Yproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
( ]; g6 ]  |& {- {5 `1 athe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
4 F+ n& {8 U( G8 _participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
$ c- Y% [9 Z' R1 C) kpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
6 b" q7 d1 D5 B, d. HAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
+ B# {# Q# X' A% P' }+ zand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
: {, L# P/ H; g9 O$ Afollow-up once the program is completed.

  G, b% d2 N+ P8 d& i8 _" WVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
