7 ]# O# b' \0 ?3 o  V8 P2 j' QYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
7 S& }  M0 u8 hAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
5 f' j% U( F( H- Enine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
" V4 @  d  A0 x* f$ l1 |: N: qThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
( Q  F2 c& m7 r! E7 A7 l! ~' N
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
  I1 L+ z2 ~/ F8 w: t$ Q9 ^+ \the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
9 f$ V) @: ^+ p% y5 \& U/ zAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
! o  l/ g: A, l* W% x# v5 E) A7 Zand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
