. ~( W2 A% ?, e, X7 LYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 R. l* A5 z! v( dnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
7 t6 D( _$ |9 f" A' c6 i# p" Ppeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
. c7 G, N3 y3 |4 C7 R6 f6 d! d
" X7 I9 H- E/ H7 K" x/ j$ ^# oproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
1 M4 C5 S1 n% Uthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
% d$ f. a) S( O2 G' a* aparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
' ~" m" w( b1 ipersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
" U- Y/ U! o8 Y7 y8 v& dand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
' a0 o' H9 _' e9 @0 E" pfollow-up once the program is completed.

  p. t# N6 E6 j0 ^/ K& fYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
