YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
* }7 D9 q9 E# ~9 N2 p0 ~nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
* l. b3 Q3 b& E( G1 Y  jpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

" U8 Z3 ^4 |/ _! m& b0 ~project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
6 s) v  b. F) J2 t7 A6 b: D4 b! v- Memployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
8 N7 b9 {, V( D& k7 R" [$ gThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
6 A' O- M! V7 ?1 Uparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
7 h" Z# h* P% Y- I/ t( L% @7 Npersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
/ P6 W9 `# b& \3 |# h6 aAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

9 M5 k7 F' Z! r- EVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
