YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
& y1 ?/ [$ Z# M" vnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

* L- s+ A% _. o3 H; D( Iproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
8 s" ^8 O4 e& A8 v! J& Z+ g% D7 Femployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
7 i/ Y( K% Y/ `' j- z$ e8 Jthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
  {1 {9 }7 ?" I& {( Qparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
* L( |. Y. A- Q) Q: B+ T3 N9 NAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
& N. O. Y9 R" N" Z  C6 rfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
