Volunteer Job Description

Position:        Youth Leader
Duration of Commitment:Summer T.A.N.G. Youth Program
Camp 1 – July 04 – July 14
Camp 2 – July 31 – August 11 (must attend an overnight camp on August 10 to 11)

4 n3 |# Q' W7 p# ~' G2 g' r- EDuties:
To assist the T.A.N.G. Youth Program Coordinator by providing clerical and/or activities support in the followings:

+ N  G& d8 [4 P6 i, a# b6 F) S% f0 | Distribution of promotion flyers to schools, churches, communities and relevant social agencies and professionals
 Take attendance if available
" ^, R( I+ y7 u, k% W Provide positive modelling to youth
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breaking games and/or other activities
; k' I$ U; [* w) o4 h% P( D Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
 Research activities related to the session’s topic upon advice of the Program Coordinator
2 V( e. j$ ]0 q2 E. d  U Watch out on the safety of youth either in centre or fieldtrips
 Report to the Program Coordinator for any doubts or concerns and/or any troubleshoot behaviour
) V! x5 O+ B6 W. ? Act according to the guidance or direction of the Program Coordinator
" X* d; X* E+ M0 O Must follow guidelines or procedures stipulated in the manual/training
 Attend debriefing sessions/ongoing training
- X+ Y# D+ u& J0 Y, ~! A Assist in program planning/design
 Any other program related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator

Attitude/Skills Requirements

2 V4 W1 e8 _8 \; x, _) D6 j! a Mature, sensible, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction
 Be open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youths in the program, or youth who is matched on an one-on-one basis
3 x- V9 s; _+ l' r, q/ m- R7 b3 X A team player, can get along well with other staff & volunteers
$ `" N; H7 r6 b9 Y0 v/ x* g Concentrate efforts in the group session or activities over other distractions
 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
 Value building on strengths in children, youth and families
/ V) d% M& S" u3 v# T. w Able to get along with youth and/or youth who might at risk
 Certain proficiency in English and Chinese
