Diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
4 L& H5 z6 n! Y% ?Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner
4 |2 f! C5 }" s: D) A0 f# N: SProviding daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts

Diagnosing locomotive component malfunctions

Performing other functions as assigned

Good eye-hand coordination
Frequently lifting weights up to 50 pounds
Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 pounds

Welding skills
Using measuring devices and understanding visual displays
May need current, valid drivers license, CDL, and locomotive engineer certification

Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
