7 e x, S7 Q3 G6 E. j, sRoles and Functions5 \6 t; y1 V4 s$ A
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
% H1 z4 u1 U6 xorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
- k1 ?! ^* ?' F, d8 ~operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has: t6 J, Y; Y) w$ S& U
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
9 H2 X( J& c( W6 O- [2 poperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
- Y _' O$ f7 i4 aboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is1 m1 m5 S$ R1 o, |- j/ X* w
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an# C4 k4 @$ o( y* p2 |8 e6 r
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
/ d+ T" I/ Z, i2 N3 W" @staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend, W; x9 i5 w) j# T" l6 k1 J
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the, b! N7 E4 ^4 o4 K' s: V
officers of the Coalition% p- \) |6 T' \) c5 s
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
9 _* v8 p c: v4 j$ dorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
1 i) B* Z- T# e1 \. g: V' ?and public institutions6 G8 o: o1 O& V8 b5 g
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
" @& J( }% V1 @$ ]$ G) p, R' ^1 Zfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working

Administrative responsibilities:7 e9 }6 Z2 R. c: Q2 X* O( T
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its* r2 J. }8 o* v# u: w; B
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
1 z% N ?1 ?' `+ [8 U/ Rdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the! n v) q6 T+ {9 _4 J
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.) t* N, T$ [' @4 p0 p/ ]9 F
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the/ c j5 [ [) E: X! o0 ?4 G

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to& f. ^0 @" }; F3 W4 Q) B' `
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
) p1 H: [/ o G7 g" }8 loperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
I3 c \3 `$ P" e' @The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
$ Q' Q( _" e# K0 i# S2 {, e' uaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should2 h- I% K3 f! {, ^* s! _
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership. x7 _$ c* s4 l
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and- A2 c' z$ D3 {+ t
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of* Q" H% A k: ~$ e4 W% g
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
( C" Q* J% T1 n9 K) K6 Ostatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all# Q# ` G( K5 V' u) \' b, l
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of! ^" n5 Z* y: J( w1 X; f- e
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of& ], G& ^2 y0 E+ ]% G
policies already adopted

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
