The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the) T3 e+ P1 |- ]9 V; P( r
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the- r8 ~/ i( W: F9 Y! X6 m
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
/ P) i# p- u+ K: o6 W$ Qthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
4 q( z) j+ R* ]0 Zoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular/ K0 a% B* _+ z4 R4 S
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
1 T3 D8 Q2 H% A, k* A! A$ jconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
. [4 X9 m; u$ p- \4 xemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires2 {9 T9 I+ ?5 j$ b b) E
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
1 g" v9 R& I5 B' S4 Yall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:/ X" H# P+ j |1 I6 p
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:/ `9 e& R# y: B" ~7 S
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
7 i& U. c' z( a7 p4 r' \officers of the Coalition- m) l" J* ?2 C; u
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
9 ?( A. T5 l# ]: ^3 Zorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations! C9 h0 \7 O8 Q* Z2 y* h9 a/ }4 W3 ^
and public institutions; o) J B- n( M8 ?
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
, a. f3 ^7 @/ X! zfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
9 Y& G/ J& [$ b9 x" [4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
+ i0 I/ y: Y* Gorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

( S3 [+ y5 C6 `2 v) Q0 r K) p5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic! K" m2 o3 h: X$ y; t5 t2 X
participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society9 t% H# H$ ~& ]/ t3 l3 G
7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working

Administrative responsibilities:
. J& O% Y0 w3 H( X; J" @1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its, u7 i5 C3 W" ?- ^
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
" S/ [2 R* K. q7 g2 l+ Udirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
1 n U& [; H. F/ p ` qmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.; v+ J4 i, ?" h. b# e# t$ i
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
0 U; L: J X4 b9 L5 bMulticultural Coalition
/ ^, k2 R) s2 N* rRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board7 H( T3 E5 F) `
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to6 r/ n3 Y3 c9 S
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating4 P7 a$ R* N& Q+ x7 W+ Y
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility./ o$ }- X/ A+ H4 B! y
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and# x8 c$ Z0 l- o$ j* v& `
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
( t6 Q4 B0 ]" U* ]be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
: l6 A1 V4 T6 J" ]0 W, iparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
/ N9 P% M) D/ |* p7 ^facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
, k. R# u+ r+ [( bdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
4 ~" R" }, m* u/ J9 jstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all+ k3 p% Z/ A* E' ]1 W
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of/ U) r3 U6 C y" q/ I; D2 g$ i' W c
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of
% l# \; e- r6 {1 qpolicies already adopted$ z1 u# O/ E; p8 k

3. Experience in writing grant proposals and accessing funding

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the! Q x% o# g5 _& ], q' w3 h# Y
community level

Pay Range & Terms

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
