Roles and Functions
, o- a+ X2 K" S `' E [The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the( C0 K) M+ ?, G2 B8 P7 X
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
/ q, V0 f; s! E" Koperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
% a8 q+ w1 y) Gthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,8 o0 c2 [* e- J1 g$ w
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
: o6 K( } A7 F" _( C- Hboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is& Y! a' f) W f4 r! E
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
4 m! P L3 w" M5 D' G9 v/ yemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
0 e+ ~% j; J# G: y4 Pstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
0 U+ O( t6 T! s( n* |, B& x* fall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

, l& d d& ~9 k! d- i- C1 x" \Functions and responsibilities:
* d5 n8 w. Z1 X1 J, K- Z& BThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:- B$ ~* X; e7 @
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
8 I6 i+ Z' }# @. tofficers of the Coalition. P9 E. k9 G: H( k3 n# W
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
2 z- `/ H8 h9 _6 R; w$ i& ~! Aorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations# U% f4 y8 n4 V
and public institutions
1 g- ~( d$ A, K2 p. c7 h3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through: s4 j( }# d* d' g
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
4 @! Q! \2 X/ i! n4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
4 Z( F- @9 p [6 z6 a" Korganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

J( t2 }2 v$ @4 X! s* { B5 g$ \5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community; N$ f" L/ N; w; l2 x6 t# h. V

E3 N2 c& R5 r \) _8 r" S$ ZAdministrative responsibilities:+ q$ q( Q: M6 x$ ]6 ^ _
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its" K) ?3 ] Q! O* f! X `
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of0 t& K7 [7 K8 P0 G$ v5 x0 [' w' ]% K
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the6 W5 I$ t ^- m6 T
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
4 U3 Q2 ^$ A3 W4 A7 o# x2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the7 R5 N+ i' |+ R+ [

+ P1 M2 U% I8 Q) a% Y& MRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board
0 G p6 ^, ?5 ^# v$ z8 h; d- UAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to9 Y6 l7 M+ U, N& m5 v
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating! Y9 K0 H4 s7 k! d! X7 t3 ]
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
# o; J' S2 L( m7 ~% oThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and5 O- k% C7 C" f. ^
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should# q) \' N$ F" S& N1 {9 |
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
; i# ~% u' D5 W" a; o6 w" Jparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
- v2 D/ d. {+ q& w8 f8 T3 Nfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
$ [. q$ C6 w; a5 v8 m2 vdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
7 i5 a; j5 g6 N1 o' `: r1 fstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
; }9 S6 f6 N; p+ O$ p% Umatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
% V8 u) T7 U- {4 A6 tdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of
8 w& a! N4 A8 y' M5 Jpolicies already adopted$ f0 n: X4 T G" @$ b6 _9 f$ p7 c

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
