, C8 X4 y& A' ^ o; S' [, l; vRoles and Functions
. O5 z+ H) e8 N7 @6 g# B$ jThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the8 ~) p) y% T: Q+ ~ u, t& u% [. H" |, M
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the1 Y5 R; v' u: N0 E- D% \
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has4 R3 g+ `+ Z; a( y9 I- ?
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,* k; V) {+ i l2 T6 d+ s# Z
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular3 d! E8 j) i/ F+ i
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is4 ?# m* W) U z1 }. w
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an/ V" p1 _* x4 x. d+ X- p8 B
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires$ o( A9 ` \- h
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend" i. f! y9 h, @# C- Z! v6 Y& j, J2 Y
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.- O& L' p {9 e) [7 z

Functions and responsibilities:3 F0 b! [) p5 f. L
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:; D6 X% @, X$ o/ @! L7 L
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the- E! v5 J3 c5 ^7 c
officers of the Coalition2 X2 w' ^. H$ b7 K
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural+ }! ]3 A8 z/ R) L2 A/ n
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations: Y/ i/ c2 w# E" \$ u# W
and public institutions
: T8 K. |1 k) s: t ]3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
7 ~( s! @& t2 I4 v( z; D7 g7 C1 nfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
! Q' ]) S$ B6 m9 \! o8 w- B4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community8 T' K% z2 ` J5 x
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with5 W2 o/ x9 N" |

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
$ o/ I/ l9 b3 xwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically. z0 E' @+ ?+ D

Administrative responsibilities:/ ^; Y0 _! L4 e
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its% ?! u- Z( N6 M
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
1 _7 _' l( l; A- Kdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the0 e) J$ L1 w) P N% J% F, N4 x; g
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.' d' s+ @) B2 V. W( t
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
: j [% t, w' G# gMulticultural Coalition3 u; W8 L. ^, p
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
1 c9 E* p, h1 s/ ?& M' u% MAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
5 j/ J; ~6 m, H. e( himplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating7 i% @5 ]# m* |, K3 M3 a) i0 L, {
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility./ }5 Q2 Y v% s- t: A
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
! L7 _6 G2 X! F) c, t8 Oaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
2 P7 u, k, C% ` D" p. ]5 E, X, Wbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership2 B) W7 |+ c* g4 C7 C2 @% A% E
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
: q: u9 E* s6 X% Ofacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
4 W. i8 |+ f4 w$ D2 L# ~directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial4 p. Y) v: {* t7 K
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
+ v' I, f5 |$ N! T( y8 W. Tmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
/ n3 ?. m" p5 x M$ ^$ I& g! Fdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of* @# q$ ]" B- U8 I" j! r) d
policies already adopted

8. A diploma or degree in Social Work, the Social Sciences, Public Health, or

community level) [0 M0 g l3 B4 x& @
10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power( `/ Q! F# c6 l5 V6 X

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
