3 ?9 a/ v' a5 HRoles and Functions
$ p6 e* i0 i) d8 e9 H1 N3 q+ c4 \The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
9 g4 v8 K6 P2 ~/ k; o- n* I( Jorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the2 N# j; w$ G5 {
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
$ M. v# z+ z& X4 e' Fthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
: p/ m+ N7 _; Goperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
" o3 O1 o. r& J/ _$ [7 r( Xboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is# c9 c" ^' J2 \9 i8 L6 {" v
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an1 M$ Z* p# [8 O5 T% S- E1 Z# Q
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
+ a) g0 R, f* Ustaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
! @3 r: r# ?! I9 J; R. nall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
6 y+ ?" P) b4 y0 i1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the. {8 m! g: j7 _# _
officers of the Coalition
" e. v/ Q7 H+ f s5 r: n% G% Y3 r1 c2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
: k1 K$ o& ^* F- x& Uorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations# n1 }: \) c+ j
and public institutions
+ Y: X9 F: z* j$ r4 \; w+ o2 i4 e2 D3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
+ @7 W. e7 G1 `% Efunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
/ u- }+ x; {8 a: {4 u$ k4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community4 B+ j$ H- i5 u' D5 f
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with' e8 j, ]: M) b+ m

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

& s( Z# ]0 V% G3 p l" G0 ~/ MAdministrative responsibilities:: C M+ w8 g. J2 f# F7 V; v: \
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
. x. r& Y, M. q2 q" D& @regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
0 C8 V) _+ k `- f Fdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
2 ^! O. e# ]3 c+ U' qmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.
6 o$ ^1 n5 ?8 V. {# @+ `9 \2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
4 ]7 C A4 I0 x4 t$ Y4 c1 Q OMulticultural Coalition7 \5 s- E# T/ u/ U6 j
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board7 H+ R) D, m. m5 w1 D" Q7 x
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to2 _0 S4 h4 d. O1 v; K
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating7 |2 S$ C2 h' A, b5 z, R0 o
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
) T" ?* W! Z* `5 MThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and) E4 V3 t3 _+ [8 r" ^# p ` M
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should+ ~1 v0 z8 T; W! S% y) a* F, d
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
$ Z3 M; q% O2 t4 O, lparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
2 m2 a' H% R) F# ]" {facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of0 v+ _& E; j- i; _- _( f
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
, E1 z& t+ s6 Q1 H1 [ Hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all3 l- Z: Q8 ~1 }6 r
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of/ s6 s1 ?/ g1 Y# r. ^8 ~9 k
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of2 i* w' Q3 o! t* \+ ^. M, g: l+ E
policies already adopted

Pay Range & Terms

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
