* A3 k6 ~- K# {8 g D1 BRoles and Functions
9 w$ e( c- E# o" v1 P" _% @The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
2 u! e4 Q" G2 ^6 g+ c) Y* Xorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
8 |; y3 a. { `4 a% W+ d, |% ~operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
2 E9 C) V$ |) X; Kthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,8 `% y2 o' i( ~* Y) \# V
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular" K4 n. r$ V( r7 Q; V# A- t
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is; I0 i, o- r/ z* Q, Z+ c
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an1 u( A1 g0 d6 I" F: ] T$ g- @
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
2 p& G9 Z0 O# p3 Sstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
8 u8 U' H, o. Y! }all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
9 X9 I0 F! L6 X& Mofficers of the Coalition* R) ~7 f C9 `
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
( I, L: H, Y" @2 A" D; ?organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
) C$ f4 \- b8 Z; u' ]5 B* yand public institutions2 ?* I$ U V @6 r) w
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
- B6 L, k4 E( ^ B; h4 Ufunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
K. A. q1 p9 m4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community2 J+ R$ B$ o! l. ~$ U
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

# F# d* E! u9 j# g h5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society

5 a9 L; {0 |% rAdministrative responsibilities:
8 ^" ~) b( P! [6 a0 x8 U1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its u7 t- |1 v/ Z* m6 Y. ?& m' v
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of! T- L" A0 _! G& q& P
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
" {" A/ ?: L/ u* n. J5 Hmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.' f: f2 G" V. V o- C& F: y
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the) A+ G( C; g; G) p8 ~3 E; K! P

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
7 S) e l$ M. \! ~7 g+ C; |# HAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to. r( r2 ]# e$ y8 `1 W
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
. ?" U1 a+ P8 z/ c5 V) doperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
. Q& E! U0 M q4 M1 ~The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
" `4 Z' o( V9 f5 R- X. D: r v3 D5 vaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should4 Y# M: t6 ^3 y$ r
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
# J& j/ u! N/ W9 Oparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and( q, G9 H" ^/ q0 T. V
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
% o/ G" ~- M* l0 J! ^directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial P2 A6 R1 C4 @
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
3 t, S4 g% j, j7 `/ ~7 [$ H' P( jmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
