The Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition
3 B6 K. m# g5 H" ^$ N/ Z; ^; GRoles and Functions
: j4 @4 m! `: N9 h6 h8 }0 AThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
; S; y6 D, d! ^% Aorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the- S+ c7 G* B; z! Y# u. l
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has. W# O6 g8 I) H
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress, w- D8 ]* `% z
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
) y5 [) D* J0 w, T7 ^board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is, f; P! z! C/ u4 M4 E
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an7 Y8 L* s9 [& z- Q& x
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
% q) _7 {& Y/ u( I! cstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend+ j4 v& Q& J5 I+ r
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the. s$ M- j# d: c3 v+ E+ s# s
officers of the Coalition o4 t; C! j* e2 j( t4 h! I
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
0 m0 b7 I- i- F+ J8 Sorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
1 a! e0 N( @ y2 V- d0 {$ |and public institutions
& o2 o' \) K; x5 X6 H3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through( f, K+ k7 h% D/ R0 ]# e
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
0 r8 o) h7 U4 F# n4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community3 D6 S2 t/ J. ~5 V$ i) @
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community0 t0 `5 N/ i, ^2 R1 W* S6 Z- E

3 l/ X1 l' ~! RAdministrative responsibilities:/ H8 F/ k4 l5 f) P' z0 P
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its) f- v" ^6 D* T* |: T v
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of+ v$ D4 f7 B1 E3 u& t
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the1 _! E+ U) V' B
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
" P& t* M0 p, E: \" a: I2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
0 ^# K, W' q# `8 A0 yMulticultural Coalition
) s4 {& L7 h( w4 K* URelationship of the Coordinator to the Board
7 a) [! z. C! G9 C6 EAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to0 b, _# q3 h4 u' U
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
" J Z7 W8 M noperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.8 t* _7 v' ~+ c f0 C# U& |7 t& G7 y
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
3 c; e6 _! f9 N7 s. n: ]/ z) Caims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
2 V4 k7 e2 ]+ H4 W$ ]be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership$ h8 V+ f1 T6 G
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
2 S. `* Y# X) z- J$ Ifacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
/ R) R# s& P" X( b. G I0 z, @* \directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial" R2 J% H) g' f9 \
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
0 W# \& J' r1 n1 O5 ?8 t% Z" X% E0 zmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

3. Experience in writing grant proposals and accessing funding

Pay Range & Terms
