Roles and Functions1 ^2 v9 y* e7 u: `
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the7 x0 a7 H) W$ l+ l( }
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the0 \5 w$ j: s2 f6 R1 J0 `8 l5 ~
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has6 E5 c* @$ j g( Q" ^( I
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
) F0 j) R: t$ k: ?! w# j& A$ O1 Joperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular, g5 x2 f$ K% R0 x# a% ^
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
- o' P9 X3 h$ P/ h, ~/ Tconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an5 b2 V) ^9 V% x1 v' {4 n
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires' n) H" y% ^4 {( T/ A' P8 V/ i
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend* O7 b3 Y( I" O( h, v: ~
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant., W. X$ p# }5 Y6 I
* z$ j! H3 `9 R [+ SFunctions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the+ V+ r( S _! h
officers of the Coalition
/ u2 F$ }8 a. _: N$ f" o2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
& Z# m+ h7 S9 r: h- E! c/ f# oorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
1 p, n3 m5 Z& m, a, G6 Band public institutions% I: i) X. V5 m% @$ f
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
1 E: A6 ^9 V$ l- Qfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives) V4 l- [6 ^3 \* k2 S
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
' b* ?* `* V& K Z5 porganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with
" b2 ^! t/ q& }these organizations

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
# b8 G" a/ x* E% \with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically- _. E4 y" a4 h
diverse backgrounds

Administrative responsibilities:
6 [( i* ?4 @: i- M2 F7 a1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
& w. ]8 _" |& e. a# @+ H2 Tregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of" q3 x0 y$ D) Q* Y5 H3 n) {
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
5 U/ e+ v; I% y8 _9 S; @members of the Coalition’s financial condition.& u/ j* S7 x* w% Q7 `0 H# b1 o
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the: ]' A; w% l8 W" }4 W: }4 [

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
7 \9 t/ i3 P2 uAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
( G2 u4 ~9 B0 b! v; ?7 \$ \+ r8 [implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating7 \+ J1 A+ j: K' n
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.0 ~; o4 D4 u2 `! l- Y! F/ U% E) `
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
; i' Z2 ^5 Z& i; ?aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should/ I6 n. O! v9 Q; K% i4 V' V
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership6 y+ j4 `/ F; J4 \, H
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and. _4 Z- L' O( ~: Y$ M/ C
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of/ V+ t, V4 N- g6 ^. L
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial# {: o! b/ Z3 n! ?- z3 U
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
, \* l T" {( S8 b* Wmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
2 E& V7 [: F+ gdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of3 u$ r3 U+ N, g) o# l
policies already adopted

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
