' w) L4 h4 v) o% T) u# j3 _0 cRoles and Functions( k/ P* s8 U& k3 ]
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
9 E6 A- _4 w t8 z, ^organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
4 ~* w/ \ n! B% M1 U* m, t9 J$ Zoperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
! K- D+ X+ Q, g5 ~9 c, Q3 Jthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress, Y6 Z% w9 {- W( W3 M
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular' Q3 J% p4 s W- k+ o( m8 A
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
1 z3 L. _2 s2 D7 r# V% C: H. Z, Y/ b5 jconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an4 \/ j9 F7 J, N' ]( l1 `
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
" @8 W/ m9 { E3 n# fstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend6 ?$ F0 n1 ~/ e2 L5 h+ b: [
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:

- P0 a* j+ K5 p: V/ X& l7 h* g7 C1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the; m# X' [- o9 T7 ~
officers of the Coalition% o9 C0 i) P4 A0 ~* N* L8 h& h7 x
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
; h. n: u0 ]7 Z2 D# |3 j: Rorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations/ k( x, I) x/ V$ R
and public institutions5 T% i6 U# o0 l1 [
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through1 Z B2 x2 V% ^8 v8 i. D
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives! [7 m0 ^( L' [# B0 Q% K$ g) l
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
3 B1 t3 I5 ?- a9 z: T! f" S. j" Aorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with# i( p6 q4 _) ~- F

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working9 R; w; g- M( f* K# k9 ]* p/ R/ e0 J
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

' D( o* O n. P, L( J0 XAdministrative responsibilities:$ ?1 M8 }7 F- q) a2 z) v7 k* P; [! v
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its- x) i! R) X* p; _+ c
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of/ s5 f1 b1 q9 c( F
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the4 q6 D8 N$ q/ `5 \* s
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
; e+ }9 G% M6 M" G' j6 E5 L2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
: ^5 f, B# w8 W" V E* ?1 ?* B1 XMulticultural Coalition1 {( ? q& `* ?, @, P$ \
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board+ [# }- \2 d6 I6 s2 @" c8 h9 x
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to" K4 s% {) N0 ^" z5 b
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating* g. J! p# P( Q- H
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
4 L4 ]1 { [" {1 n( A& v Z9 L1 IThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and: u( U5 h' X/ j; e" j' s. v
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
- ?/ }1 @* }) q/ Rbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
# k3 j# d$ |- D4 vparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and* N8 A2 [1 X) @$ j0 L" M" k
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of% A' t7 ]/ Z, G0 y- @* o
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
' D, W \7 T. v6 c1 v4 j% z' wstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all; [) K+ ?6 \1 t) o( }4 K. U- P! E: B
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of6 `4 H3 H+ u# a+ d! R
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms
