Roles and Functions
; N" a. Q& [7 ?/ PThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the3 z1 s. g5 a1 k0 F6 v! d
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the, ^& k6 A) A1 P/ h; `8 x2 _
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has' H! `. q2 |1 G8 ?4 L
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
5 g$ b- T" A( D/ ]operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
" T/ Z0 y3 N. ^5 M9 Kboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
1 r6 t7 j: m' D$ N# ^) q' `0 ^conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
d h5 d( H3 C0 x! d$ e8 S: Qemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires& k' Z" J/ t4 {, Z
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend- [8 q, `( x/ q/ K* Q8 B
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
% y* M8 J" u0 q) e S% z1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
8 t+ g4 L2 ]2 t/ W& F8 Sofficers of the Coalition3 P1 n/ W( q. q, [) d4 A
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural, s0 n( U4 |, X3 q% g
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations! L/ S( K) u+ `2 k
and public institutions0 A5 b! G5 a: S0 {' p9 D3 _
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through5 @( r& G% [* j
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
& [* l5 y7 W0 m7 |2 U4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community \: O. E3 m9 \, o8 j2 r) _
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with$ E! m t9 s8 f/ A, F3 {

Administrative responsibilities:+ R7 d3 L/ i6 C7 N$ \7 u* o
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
" ^- L- A0 j1 J7 b# }regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
8 Q c r2 g6 I# H! {directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
+ N2 U& x0 f2 T. Umembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.5 O% k! [2 O5 {+ Z$ K- t2 c( _
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the- u5 q2 h' `" W" I- d/ O& \

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
& H3 w6 W+ `" C8 V6 R8 O0 Oimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
" h, I( d- O1 k8 K% Doperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
8 B; T4 j5 t5 g8 e8 Q$ F# aThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and3 _1 Y0 A3 Y9 u/ V+ Z1 w# m
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
. k: k5 K8 f1 Ube noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership( z. ~+ ?" e- ], G$ T. z
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and6 N* ?7 Z& W9 w# a) f; X
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
) a( _ U& P8 `) I$ z+ n ^directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
. z5 R# Z2 H2 O e" Zstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
8 x9 f! D2 ^0 }, jmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
# n- C u& Q( x8 d: vdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the+ ?" [( y. _& Q8 \8 y+ h% b1 a
community level

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
