Roles and Functions9 s# d# W Z# `$ ?
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the" _5 e; S9 b. }% S5 m3 v
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
& p; A' H; {% Ioperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has y3 Z. h9 b R' s! k" d, V
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,& H; r" x: g: j/ b1 k; @! D, r$ ]
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
4 W$ c8 C& P5 S2 f- W: d( aboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
+ A {) Z/ ]4 G4 H* Pconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
4 `8 k% H2 @0 H! D aemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires9 h0 R5 y* F7 k* }1 o" ]9 [
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend7 x! O( \0 ]' s) P+ J
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.7 L$ Y0 \. z; V# |" Z

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
2 Z4 N e7 K: u# _7 ^. e' S9 v% a* I; g9 sofficers of the Coalition6 M( R$ v W& b6 Y. j( y3 R
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural: `4 M$ y2 K) B0 v" o2 }: D
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
& ?; ~( e- L5 O! Vand public institutions
) U+ T0 q4 r6 r0 h; l9 ~& z3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
; ]0 H6 Z( A" h" y- M% F0 ofunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives2 F# ?' d8 `* T' ? S6 I
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community3 g' K$ n) c& Y1 J3 U$ r
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with) U% Z2 s6 g+ k% T! K8 p

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

$ F& B9 _. ~+ w1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its' ^; s! M) q9 x) J
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of/ J4 X5 o7 p! _; c
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
% K& ^3 I X$ f t" j8 N Q9 }members of the Coalition’s financial condition.

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to# S. [) @/ j) ~, M
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
3 M; V( m* Z9 G" ]! l' D2 ?& Loperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.) _, O% ^! t* C7 l+ q2 Y9 H$ {
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
8 V" ]. }8 {1 y; g6 @. Eaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
, B5 ]' W! c, g4 v- R& u5 f3 ~ Sbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
0 D. G* X/ a4 G9 p: l5 x. i( Aparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and9 P( ?: X: P7 [, m; S5 H# V' O
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
, z$ P1 m& E" X$ Sdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
' S3 L& n( {6 D+ W' ?' X) p" ]statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
, L7 A3 @0 G' @1 Nmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
" M& o q+ w1 ^( @ a) ]) i5 W3 edirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms
