The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the: c: s, [/ B8 z1 b3 p. G9 |
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the. Z5 c; u. Q" e! ?/ j) j
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
# {4 m/ p1 ^2 C( i4 D+ ^the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,4 j, D/ p# j6 T4 t2 U$ l0 X* }% j
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
: r$ E. y+ r; aboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
" T, H( F% C5 q0 L jconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
; z! [2 @0 g, _% [7 p% w% ^& T, oemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires9 I; j; x9 A! [
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
* B* l" x ]- k, w& y; l- Vall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.* v4 z7 o2 K0 i1 }: |

/ f: j1 x. N+ W$ I; s1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the/ U9 F* N. v( i) A! t3 U: |" S! u
officers of the Coalition! n6 |0 l( n/ f
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural+ q4 O0 P0 ? n" u/ {
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
) ~2 V# ^: A4 [/ Q# b5 Zand public institutions; N! S# ?" L# U ~( \4 u
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
3 h; {0 A0 o1 B: ` W% yfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives- ^: D$ R) u7 n( |8 z& M( B
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
) k- V. {# V$ k6 |) b- y" O; borganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

/ V4 x7 W7 C/ W5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working6 \6 f Y" }$ Y0 k& @
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically$ v$ ?8 U8 R* L4 q

3 b5 B4 `% T/ @8 o, f9 t/ K1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its6 M: u5 ~" b d* h
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of4 G4 f* c5 | `; v+ b" Q$ I
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the( s: V# c# L) z9 k" P% B
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
; I) S# }+ b: r6 O b2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
8 P, g4 K) W3 N- j8 DMulticultural Coalition& a* a4 e/ t! v, n" K" Y* _7 k
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board: }5 ]* c( X a6 `8 b+ f( [- {
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to. t1 h6 B' B4 t/ c& X6 c
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
& `6 ]+ B' J( u; joperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
% Y8 K& W X$ }4 Y% k1 K5 z5 oThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
, Z$ x }8 w, K5 v% q: G8 W' ]aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should9 d' Q% L7 k2 |" H( s* p- C
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership+ v, Y8 c% D7 H7 R9 a
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
, x$ W: X5 i; ]2 D" h! w4 T7 N& _facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
1 D% s: v- R6 t! Z" E7 fdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial/ N' \0 p j" Y/ u/ m$ y& V
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all, S7 X; j- j$ o7 D8 T9 A
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
