Roles and Functions
V8 b; g8 h* u9 mThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
/ u. ~ ~0 k9 ^5 G- Horganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
! H+ y( ]$ {$ D9 M3 b" I6 D9 k( Eoperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
7 F* U4 B6 @1 S- {( Pthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,, ~! s: F# Q0 C+ g0 q
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
5 w0 G- x9 A5 }+ o5 [$ Z Mboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
q, Q9 S2 u6 {" Iconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
7 m5 ^1 K7 Y$ G& x+ b5 jemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires7 N' e* \& A) n) s1 A4 D
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
8 V, p4 r5 a4 }+ I( q- tall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
0 d9 X. A c% }7 o. J/ X1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
6 n6 P6 e, k$ w4 f$ L& O& ?officers of the Coalition
1 K/ ]5 H! ~: h2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural7 `/ u1 d, d: G2 E
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
' B. ~9 U# F/ m7 _- D. Sand public institutions6 c& p! T D7 ]8 h# t
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through) k6 e9 ?, P- E+ J- n
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
* _9 S' T7 ~. |4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community4 y4 t) J4 C- s) ?
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with- e! U* B' |4 ]) V1 Y2 A, o' b, S

1 b3 U. c! S$ M, W6 e, _* S9 X# CAdministrative responsibilities:* [" B7 r7 w" v
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
7 |4 }3 |3 z, }( Tregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of' _( J. p/ P% S* {, L
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
9 M, v; U9 t* X4 z S; amembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.1 i1 K, c" Z3 v* m3 v
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the) X1 W/ J! d2 L6 e$ ?" r

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
* Z2 C4 M8 y H( `" Z2 Q7 tAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to! {, E" a" C) }: B e
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating$ l2 i8 Q0 T9 G! I6 D
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.- S" o' v2 Q7 F& H( [# i
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and+ K$ Z1 }& z. P# L
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should/ T3 x H. K0 u( D1 w. R% H
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership& G/ e1 |7 J) C) D8 }& p
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
* X" s- R9 f, p4 }# K6 g4 B rfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
# l2 ~& y# b8 N" e6 m4 kdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial& ?; ~" B5 F( |" t2 p3 o: [# B
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
2 z5 d) i& c5 i+ x! c5 fmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

community level

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with# {% W' m; W5 P$ ^5 H! D; S( V9 B: N

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
