* \4 T) k' E k/ jRoles and Functions5 L# `; }$ {/ R' w
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
4 w1 V0 y& ? Iorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the! B4 h& M x/ [" a# e8 X3 h7 G
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
- ]; H6 d; d) f; H4 Z; D. ^4 ythe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,* z7 w `+ E& a' }6 t2 h
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
& M+ V4 a$ W( v J9 P, D; Yboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is5 c5 d& S4 _& h
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an# E; t% e0 o# W# L1 V% Q
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
! t4 `9 k7 u- {staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
# a- k! m- `- G: q% N# m; F0 kall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.( r; o3 q0 _% L
) m+ k9 \3 H4 V' W% o& EFunctions and responsibilities:
8 V l( g( T9 G7 `) f' l2 LThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:3 D5 {) b+ \3 O- k N& G# e
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
; R9 T6 j# P5 W b3 p9 pofficers of the Coalition; _; v3 `' G- a2 l
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural* C% k8 }' v- s. E9 C' Q: i a5 N
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations" A2 a+ {" X- ?0 y1 I m9 T+ s
and public institutions' I J1 ]4 ]+ Q& ?. s# i: t
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
5 t) a3 N6 k6 T$ ?funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives+ ^7 F6 h: _% X# r- ]2 e
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
2 K0 S& w1 Y9 x4 K/ Lorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with
4 b3 [+ z% n8 }+ u# ~ }these organizations
0 G7 F4 d0 S! D5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community; `/ d* W/ r, k
leaders
2 X7 b1 A; a- F4 f7 ?* i6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic' o0 n" {, f' m
participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society

/ a) R# X/ m! Z k0 b% nwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

Administrative responsibilities:$ p' b" A( f! M& }* N- S
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its) s& ^: P. M5 b f0 C8 H, U
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
/ F( D. w0 s- ?* Kdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
1 ?$ x1 m; |1 d7 Kmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.2 l, i( R" w9 U$ W
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the, w5 v" u" v) b2 ? _" W

$ M7 b, _, ?; V0 \! ORelationship of the Coordinator to the Board
# r- N; [! |; k7 I0 k, ]7 SAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to: I1 z% B7 ^: e) }9 `5 {) `
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
1 ~; L w+ L; X8 ~2 D goperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
% S" \: M0 f8 w, I7 K! nThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and5 G. Z8 x6 j% D
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
* Y5 u) [% q0 b8 `! J8 }/ j M3 I. cbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership/ R% ~7 T5 `* m6 o6 v3 D
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; S1 }+ w( l4 M3 t# \$ n3 I; L3 S
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
9 H3 J2 @% L7 }) D1 z' K0 n/ r5 Ddirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial8 H' I3 c3 L% x9 ~6 c
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
$ \0 h' \# ] ~* }matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
# u& S: W0 v3 J6 ddirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of0 K$ q+ \! L5 [' E; R3 C! _( Z8 @- Z
policies already adopted; x: q% h9 g U8 W A/ j

Pay Range & Terms

possible extension depending on funding.
