The Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition) Y! w0 d# u' y2 }8 \
Roles and Functions
5 `4 g5 u7 [0 i1 @6 C) b+ qThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the9 J' q2 z% |) H2 i0 U& \
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
, r5 n; m E0 Y9 D5 z( `operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has9 C9 [5 D- \0 }/ n# P/ @! ]
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,* J' Y C8 S, n
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular. \6 ~9 Q) w% g3 N% t
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
+ j( }! W* [0 \. N" Econducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
8 Q l! Z' z% ?+ N& n" T& \" }. Oemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires9 x5 w. F c: ?5 P; ~
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
* o" T2 O' f1 P- `2 c3 y( wall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.0 X0 i$ B7 g& p: S, }' S: ]4 ~* j

Functions and responsibilities:
% G, D; p Y9 u4 JThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
! P' g/ Q) W# x7 m& t+ ?4 ]) J1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
6 p0 h' i% y3 Hofficers of the Coalition8 ?3 c' L& S0 ~ C0 E% m; A
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural3 u+ ?- l& N V$ k
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
! C2 ~- J8 ]7 Iand public institutions- w6 n- U. {* s# q. K
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through% v! x' U5 I0 f" O+ p' V
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
/ `; j6 A! b; ?6 L9 K4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
% Q- j8 h W( E8 M6 D/ [organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with& ^! |& k. d; O9 N0 B( k v

diverse backgrounds

Administrative responsibilities:
- f$ P! J8 ~5 u7 ~' R4 }$ {1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its8 h. q( z) S0 Z2 o% R& [, ?
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
( R& b4 z$ F8 Y7 L0 Vdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the" a6 u8 F* t7 \& z2 s& R5 h
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
5 d2 Y" }6 p" L- v4 }" B: [6 N2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the+ H, m4 q3 v: g! u' D. y* h5 @1 |6 X: ~

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
2 ]- m( M9 ]$ Q+ CAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to! e J+ m' X/ ^5 y: \8 k
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating' s! X6 h4 Q# u$ j
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
; b7 u, W3 D! R) N2 j) S" |The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
$ L: z2 e/ h: P' V5 L" v. u( Vaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should- h3 a( f$ ` f1 V4 y
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
6 |5 [2 l' _1 d5 U1 e( nparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
' D: R* ?" \ E3 x/ `) X6 n) h( cfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
8 g3 t% D7 E) M' ~( F2 X4 @directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
9 ^- l- ]5 i5 H! x9 }8 hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all! [7 ?* e1 x6 l* Q
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of: j2 n. z, C, |& M3 _" j' P
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of; c$ |" A7 _! G
policies already adopted

Pay Range & Terms
