2 l# o7 Z8 W. {* p% {Roles and Functions5 {6 ~' z& ?9 z# S+ a' D: Z' \
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the. c/ z, m* H5 d) X. u f
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the a i0 [" D+ E \5 R7 t$ f
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
3 Y& R$ ?2 N0 {, [( {the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
- }; @; M D! |9 ~0 Ioperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
& r) m! i+ b' H$ \board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is E# N( N9 l' h1 x3 J8 s+ S
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
( a( R1 R" V4 qemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
# s+ x( M+ ]; G6 ostaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend* t( A: q- Q2 V# F% d$ h
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

4 b& |0 _4 `8 M1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the

2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural1 C3 R: i, n1 P. I" o' r4 b+ a
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations. v5 A* Z* t" T9 g3 x8 {3 ^
and public institutions
$ a( i" U0 ~, {& b( F" z3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through" z" A) r' t1 x0 `# @' T' z
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives4 ~" C z4 Q0 Q
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
8 E+ S/ U1 {' r0 Q* y# Borganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with9 y1 h% y3 o! W1 P
these organizations

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
& v3 `: N$ a* {with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically* ~; o( I4 `3 e. P5 C, K4 c4 v

3 \4 Z( p& o3 [ S! Z8 oAdministrative responsibilities:3 Q9 Y3 ^( T0 y' d5 u
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its1 L) O/ @) b) e. i) G
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of; U8 Q2 k$ f! ?+ T
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
0 B: a7 T0 s: d0 h" Vmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.8 l- d" o( R) \1 L7 O+ Y
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
7 l, m4 O, @1 ~4 f2 K) q5 pMulticultural Coalition
: U: U$ z) s& G: `8 `$ ERelationship of the Coordinator to the Board$ X- J5 r- \9 [! _8 d: d" H& T- g4 e) h
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to* X; r* ^$ S* }# }! }
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
8 `) ^4 s, K8 u, R! b0 g8 ]$ Ooperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility., D) w2 H' C; b
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
1 k4 {& o2 X3 `- L& @aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
5 \# y7 V8 @- h7 O9 fbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership8 d% v/ b( j5 S! X- I
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and! f( y3 T0 N, W
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
8 e$ X, T/ h) O, T x/ o7 ydirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
& f1 e. K" Q8 [5 q9 v' U6 `2 ^statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
: X; ~' p- B) vmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
% d7 Y5 i9 N8 r, C2 W3 ~9 {( Z# [directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of0 r4 U0 V" a0 G4 `4 _0 N* o

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
