8 x, z* g0 ~) l9 _- p5 ]Roles and Functions, r% `; \' U3 U) T
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
. {' w7 p4 n! g$ Porganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
" I7 Q' T D) L3 }4 n# Moperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has% x, f6 p0 N) |% G
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,6 Z6 [" r+ M5 X% G
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
5 q7 h, ~5 \; n2 @board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is' c" e+ m3 a2 P2 r# U
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
/ C6 s2 R$ }- A$ ^employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires. M8 g( O( R/ ]( H, m2 z
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend0 E5 B2 S% J A C& p9 `
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities: T0 X! ^. `/ |8 ?% O( V
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:1 ~0 s6 |. x n
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
) C2 S S% q) `officers of the Coalition
0 Z$ C/ f4 D7 r8 O4 b2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
0 Z7 E8 w6 X" r# y( h9 Forganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations6 b( ?; |3 B4 D" u# o" V7 R
and public institutions
, Y- {+ B3 w3 _# S/ j1 J! r+ N3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
- G" \5 N' @& ?funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives+ u5 y" Q1 C5 C5 q: \& A% z) J r( `
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community6 B, C, ~& q( w
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working R9 Q2 t3 L( D. R4 m8 R) a
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ {$ m2 o+ n6 g5 U; k3 v
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of# ?+ t1 _; J' V% y- c
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
+ k- {( q3 n. J+ S. g Pmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.- k) b# s; m, ~3 ]2 x- T
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
& B5 D" P9 w* [# N1 wMulticultural Coalition0 C" @7 |/ {5 ]% ^1 v
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board- @1 Y. s3 q4 h1 J8 D4 Q8 |
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to7 X" \0 V6 W- a0 d1 F
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
6 r3 S2 S) g8 c doperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
: H8 I% f% D- _The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
' M- @* X+ X; A, Z8 P. {aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
: x+ ^: v3 m* a6 k. u. Gbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
$ Q) o& }7 x) xparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
- x s0 V1 A9 H7 c4 Q5 I& xfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of$ S% m: u( T3 p
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
3 g2 m7 W# ^- v' M: K# T; Hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all& M6 {! K. c) i+ ?
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of a$ I- X7 x( J' u5 J1 X
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms
