Roles and Functions
- I, r* A. B1 k b7 }The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
' [$ }- E$ o2 borganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the& n& u) R2 Y: f
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has) A; M9 B+ A2 a2 u
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
r' S& ]" a( Aoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
) c, C1 ^ P& l& |5 zboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
. ^. F/ y. Z+ {% V7 l6 z' Cconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an/ k: ?& f% |5 C- [
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
5 ]( V) V1 c$ Z/ A- Rstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend

7 {3 T0 |; L6 |, U, y7 a' M1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the5 J- V, g$ x/ s* T
officers of the Coalition) ^1 m' A- M8 |# L3 W* b2 [( r
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural' K R( ]9 i6 X& W( t: c
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations: h& J4 k' K9 @2 K- c0 D/ c* T6 ~" K
and public institutions
" D1 h3 t- R" Q/ G1 s2 p( `3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through+ S) o2 |& u8 A
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
; W4 D3 m" j3 |: r% P8 \9 f& r* B4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community% A2 c% L4 c* O4 @9 J9 x; b- W
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
) f* h0 C2 U( V! `+ A+ l! ^4 F# Qregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of0 N) j/ G/ ]6 r$ `, e
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the4 G" o2 B: D# U9 S( K* F
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
% f. N1 M. H8 W2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the. a1 m1 u" O* g3 g& f6 D9 q# ~6 c

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to) a/ c" m. L3 u) P( w
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
; z% M' z7 y' m$ {; M5 qoperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.8 M0 Q" K* z1 {$ i: `# `
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
7 q7 j! |/ E8 R( ~" g$ e* Haims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
7 K; |6 G# h, n# ebe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
/ `: ]) |3 a8 _& r6 V2 c! oparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
4 @, L2 R2 E8 }& dfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
5 m0 l( t2 Z0 ~6 d7 T& L" \directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial( a/ ~7 B+ K j$ _- T( W! N
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
' u; _' Q. x* j; m( {* L \: F2 Mmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of7 f3 C- p6 U H) x
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of
