2 W# c* Z% g) o+ l4 p1 BThe Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition
9 m& ]+ P; D0 ~, Y9 Q8 H/ JRoles and Functions
' A# K, z8 ^. }) t* E' }The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the3 ~& P# i% }- P9 s9 g8 e
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
0 U8 {/ {' b8 m2 \0 G s8 goperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has8 P8 ?0 `( B8 t% ?5 M1 h
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
9 R8 P) J# b9 t2 xoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular8 j9 j! w% _6 b; k
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is! N1 K5 }3 v+ x. b; w
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an" Y+ Y7 Z! }3 a4 X. m) B3 V+ I; h
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
- }6 @5 }' |6 n' \- S/ X, ~staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
9 v7 y) O, G6 T' ^all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

a) b0 j: u7 I/ O4 {1 U3 I- B5 kThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
) X, I8 O* y6 M- K1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
" I7 N) p" j5 J# `* H% ^& \! {/ Yofficers of the Coalition6 }- F# f9 y3 A3 I" V) U1 q1 U
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural. R4 w" y% n+ {
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
! y- h: Y% C/ Z& [ y6 u+ G7 tand public institutions
- G7 A3 a: S+ M3 e* O8 m3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through" f1 V' y$ W6 T' `3 k) f
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
5 M, |5 Z' S: F8 ]7 M1 p4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
( j! ^) Z8 H4 J4 ]) t, Jorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community( q& K5 M; k+ Y- C4 ]

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic# ^# i& `% M; p) ?0 |# P3 `
participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society" `7 z4 b6 r# V' W
7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
; C( v& i- B% Y; Pwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically& f; ]' ?, `$ n0 u4 q5 l. J
diverse backgrounds

Administrative responsibilities:" s) [$ B3 j8 J! F6 P
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its a7 y* v4 ?" C5 q, X; s) }: k
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
. e3 Z5 t \0 J# |* F* K9 Hdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the5 r2 N: `/ A- t. d. X: n. a) `0 ]$ L
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
" s3 f4 p) j( ~+ Y2 t2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
. r9 L) |3 w8 _Multicultural Coalition2 t: L, u, D5 M; K! }# j
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board9 G- F7 F$ D' N
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
% M T$ N: S& x% D) x$ Z! `implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
6 p) A8 J9 p1 C* [8 K& toperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
" k+ R( z+ W) c' w k; SThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and* R9 d, e/ K( |
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
/ |* ^0 w) ?" V$ y5 W0 zbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership8 ~- A9 t# _$ f: d4 r: k
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
/ {% m7 `! z. k/ _$ @facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
( u0 d2 U8 z u$ T2 @8 n8 K* W% Mdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial' W; k* G) |! F% c8 F4 p, \4 D* |' u5 a
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all: ~" j1 V& p3 n& _8 l
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
; B& x9 @+ f1 G2 U0 e, ddirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power

Pay Range & Terms
