Roles and Functions- m& h+ ]: e1 @8 ?: t3 f" k
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the' D6 V6 u8 X' p
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the9 h1 Y; {7 Z% X! x; o" e9 S! K
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has2 m3 `- l3 o9 `) P2 V
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,- J% L6 D/ z X$ y9 U/ {" {
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
9 s/ y% ^& d4 C7 mboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
# J3 l) I `7 x2 [conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an A% `% i' `- q
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires, S0 n) C; e4 V' x: m2 x* _
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
. l( `; S1 d9 Lall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.( i( g: O: V9 W+ t1 F

Functions and responsibilities:) t& C3 ]; E& w( F" S
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
" J% d: s! d6 k" j! r1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
" m4 H* q1 T7 Y. U: o, r& }officers of the Coalition% E2 H! [* T/ ?6 Q8 S, ^1 B
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
( \& d: p0 ]4 o4 n# I9 M/ K8 e7 {organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
2 j' H, f& R `5 A2 k! hand public institutions/ }* I4 M; l- ^2 w q" s
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
/ E9 A, M4 @! k" o; s7 `5 Nfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives8 B0 t' S5 F+ o* K( B, x8 i
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community0 h- P1 B* v5 a$ m- r( E
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

0 T. w! x% y& e5 l5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

0 v& l( r- C5 N6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working

Administrative responsibilities:- G: F( H) q3 h' _0 Z0 N
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ {& [ s& T/ V8 D' x* h4 @
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of9 F) b8 l- Z9 n, X% d% Q
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
" Y h2 b9 D1 Z; o$ j+ \members of the Coalition’s financial condition.% ~9 c! y, n8 k z" }+ B5 K
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
; E* L0 q! @- F3 @6 gMulticultural Coalition
; C& o4 z5 g7 `! ?Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
8 w' @" Y5 s# y5 ]All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
5 J4 A4 ~; C, `1 k4 o6 p& Q5 fimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
$ L6 m+ T$ x: {$ |3 Toperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.; U5 S4 Z- M0 j# V' m
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and: n" N! W; e9 ^2 U8 ~0 k% i6 I
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should N: N, [1 `8 I+ n; e4 z
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
" n0 A# H0 F3 v4 x5 mparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
+ n( q* y/ r8 b8 X& E% zfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of1 E! V: k0 r8 ~' d! u. M
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
' y) |: l# Y' a0 y' o4 wstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all/ `2 U; O; E3 D6 x! C
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of7 v/ Z" v/ {$ O! S5 x
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the2 c6 c8 @9 t1 x) f) Z( D9 b
community level

Pay Range & Terms
