4 F( ^ B# ]0 }" uRoles and Functions
' H8 c8 z- I; x5 Z( rThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
1 K; b9 k" D: Borganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
: |% d Y b% J/ ~- ]7 U8 h5 B2 Yoperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has" s+ K, P( l( V1 M& F
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
! l% Y5 r' l5 e" p/ `# {operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
! K) A( J2 |. n8 a2 Pboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is% t% o: u0 [2 m8 K
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an* @5 ]# y+ Q' U) c
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
' _9 w; L6 _% A; a2 }staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend! N- a! |) o6 i3 c- p
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.4 S) h1 `/ p0 D) V

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:' H* v" @7 {' G- O/ U" d2 Z% {* G
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
: U6 u/ @1 u. g. i' K- gofficers of the Coalition
2 h8 y; {3 l! d6 ~2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
/ d& Z* e6 |# }. g) porganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
. Z8 [; o5 T5 Y. L1 F0 ^ v; yand public institutions
& _7 \, q2 ^' S& ?4 T$ }3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through" _ a! N/ k. Z+ b- n0 ] i6 P8 P
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
* Q0 M+ R, c) [1 ]0 w, Q4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community+ _+ X) j7 y) Z
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with+ c2 }) [) B# x9 \* h7 W0 j

: M! S. v- ?- K& O1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its6 h7 T/ ]' f. c' z3 Q! v4 e
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
2 |2 ~0 `6 L+ d' w6 Udirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the: \. l/ ?9 ]) t4 b- E
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
0 \ j9 O* k" J* p0 ~2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the

r1 f/ w' c. q8 L% ^% V4 SRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board- w* Q5 B9 u: P$ ~4 S
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to5 B6 j5 f" v+ L) W4 Z
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
+ a( j( S" ]6 m+ [* V( k* i1 _operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
. _3 c3 g0 D* ?. V+ V5 ]The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and: b& `8 ~. V, O; K
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should, A1 X- U1 X& M0 N
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
3 ^0 G) Y# `+ M1 rparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
+ H Y. B1 \ i! h4 Wfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of+ X7 V( d8 I6 B1 L0 W
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial5 ~6 \7 I% ^7 s! B% e
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
- {- X3 u4 m7 n% ?+ a+ Jmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

policies already adopted

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
