Roles and Functions
$ F0 v! m6 f' ]" DThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
: L' m5 @+ [, w3 w4 ^ Q( A7 ], ]organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
) z3 Y( d7 K1 O: c; Loperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
+ I' v+ A/ j: Y1 Jthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
' e* D9 p" A6 Z B* l8 Koperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
2 _ A. i& `- z* h& \" Eboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
7 R! ^# P/ h" kconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
6 X8 _' M" S+ P$ B: eemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
4 {- F9 [1 [% s) Qstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend N$ u1 G0 @- g* S" n
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the( [5 O/ A8 L! M5 B! l- a
officers of the Coalition; z9 p$ w9 `3 h- Y9 j3 h2 j
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
1 q, Q' R* n( x# morganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
! g5 m& @% M& @and public institutions! M5 I: X% L4 `+ Y! X/ Y
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through {- Q) G f, Z* r; }9 @1 r2 [+ `
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
# @9 }+ L, o" t7 O# Z7 n4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community3 ^' H1 Q: m# J+ o+ r' I" Y/ Q
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with3 Q4 V2 Y$ p1 a" O

Administrative responsibilities:
* r1 u7 S8 t, h; N0 |7 i8 ^1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its7 V2 R8 Z. u6 Q7 B3 g
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of) p$ i6 w5 B" Z, |: H: u
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the, R$ v; g+ } x6 M! ?3 W
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.: y( D/ s! x- ?
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the% Q+ a- L+ n; |# W* D

" K9 Y5 K% ]2 _3 f2 F4 [All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
7 p; ?, u4 J7 S2 d& |* x- I$ limplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
6 T+ Q6 O4 m/ c2 W( Aoperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.% _, a1 Y2 o3 v5 N
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and. u8 V# \; @4 `8 k. S2 x, i3 k4 K
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should7 Y1 u/ m! x: p. u: `
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership- l& e' {! H3 g* J3 b; A; y7 d
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
D% M9 ?! K' H! Tfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
) F; l/ Q0 W3 Y9 i5 [+ adirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial, O7 N4 u. @2 y3 v. C; t0 U+ ^
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
9 `. x0 U [; T" I, omatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of& p6 N, d: C( P) H% |% S1 G) L
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the8 H9 I2 U9 x! k- h

Pay Range & Terms
8 A! Q0 x; m$ G6 O2 h: |6 ^2 A. KThis is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
