' C9 a) K {7 R- s- ?8 ERoles and Functions- X3 T p3 O @+ m* Y1 ?4 c. S
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the1 h, J% J7 n9 I
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
9 f0 E; Z' V; e8 r/ b/ M7 @operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has; k& V0 f3 h& ~. A O8 e* E5 t
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
2 c* Q5 {0 ]: L poperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
# o4 \ A6 |/ V X$ a s( x4 A: Hboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is* A! I5 E4 x2 Y
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
( v6 Q" `6 X. j$ j7 {& Bemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires( |/ J3 _' ] s: a5 y% U* l
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend1 j6 z( B {7 D0 N9 ?: ~- b
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.7 J. u9 E: G- J

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
) ~3 c1 h5 c. Y8 o2 I9 h# E- ?# ?officers of the Coalition: g1 t p7 Z2 W. t: l- ^& }, O
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural7 s1 ?% A- K) r; ?/ S
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations: J0 \7 Q' R$ s8 o
and public institutions
0 d* E9 W( h M& F8 G3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
0 X; f2 z& u! I$ w% wfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives. C' ?6 \0 Z& L3 @
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community. @5 ~1 M$ ?1 g- d. K/ J2 K

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
2 n7 G, F7 H+ l' B. V; a. a Rregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
# y3 n7 [( Q# K+ n$ Rdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the: a( l$ A6 `: Q$ j, n+ F4 r
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.: v X( G- A( A; I- E2 K
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the* j8 P, _6 i- ]' V/ |7 d

' I* U6 v+ f4 {0 m- f5 ?Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board0 {8 i* ]& {+ Z$ i! F" @
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
4 r6 O# p! t; y0 D# ]5 @; Kimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
2 D4 D- j& o Z4 ^2 E X3 W! y- moperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
7 {! e9 T% r- S% G2 ?5 IThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and8 h: u3 X, W- [+ Z K, h
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
5 r, Z9 @( r" J$ x' Lbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership7 w' x5 g. c6 V
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and5 z6 S: c+ V: h8 f1 ]
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
# b8 G/ c* a& y9 M- Bdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
4 ^. j! j" g3 Mstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all. j1 {. T# I# z
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
; q* O G6 k8 ]9 A$ Z2 m0 e4 Ndirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of7 {3 Z1 V: B$ g7 ?4 u
policies already adopted& G) _5 U& {, Q) M. T& U% L

Pay Range & Terms
