Roles and Functions
* d( c4 Z6 H! m, B: {The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the* B, \1 ~5 A+ D8 Q, m5 a5 b
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the0 u& j7 [9 \) D
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
% b6 B0 _! a |: g/ `& |the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,/ ]5 F# s |# g* P5 i1 G- T
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular' F( @; u/ R0 B9 y2 R
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is3 M3 [2 \3 Y8 D# l& t
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
1 T2 p( u3 G* |% {9 z) t6 Jemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
3 V, l4 J# N$ j8 o6 }* O2 e9 Qstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the

. o8 I& j2 T, v' S/ ~% R; z7 P# F2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural* X& @ H( F3 y' _$ g" f
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations. k h: G2 L" I
and public institutions* z) i k/ h/ `+ h" W; o
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through7 a6 V' {" n) C
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives1 c) {0 }2 y) R. B! I6 ~
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community2 w* W a/ s8 P/ y( z
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with& E' V& U8 }; j1 @+ K. x, B

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its: R0 {- f: d- y- E- n4 X, O, Z
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
I8 ]) A3 y/ R. n) C& P! X. Qdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
' U7 W9 J* W3 ?4 |members of the Coalition’s financial condition.* |5 J( B# s) { m; z- n+ ]1 R
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the! ^% b4 G; Z6 i0 u

' J! D" v. ^! O9 O- j$ \" W- _' dRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board/ t9 T1 v- s( r2 \8 ^# s, J
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
Y3 R. T7 y4 d O+ Dimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
1 J3 `- j# D( ~- }% |% Toperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.4 l, J. d3 \! {8 N" b
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and( c6 A; E6 |# @9 j8 Y5 b1 |$ ]( v: c
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should& q4 r7 X0 y; w4 q3 o- v
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
, X+ \# y7 F+ u: X$ Dparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and, C5 Q0 B3 F% K7 f# c. x
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of7 c1 m7 r; ]& y9 _
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
; A4 R6 b- b$ s' x9 @' q4 j* }" xstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
# q m" |! n$ ~matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

Pay Range & Terms
