Roles and Functions1 @$ a# F( L9 x7 B
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the0 ]7 d1 D- l. n# h7 x( w$ s% P
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the7 s' F8 ~# @5 _# ]4 g! a- [
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has. G: V$ c: K% k
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
9 U6 _) E$ E, B5 ~/ x, loperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular q9 x" P& f8 D9 [' ~
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
! ?( [9 a- N( d1 Z/ ?conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an+ n# D5 m& |5 K$ Q/ G
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires9 _8 F0 H i4 X, f
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the( r4 E' o3 o- u* h
officers of the Coalition- O% i. q1 R* M3 v' x, b1 b9 a# ~. o
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural3 s- E q9 W2 K& K
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
7 ^; K0 Q: Q, n( _and public institutions
+ K8 ^- X( y9 g- [' G; \. d3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through+ u4 J. m# i; ?0 s
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives8 h2 R h6 y+ l/ _$ v
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community' |) ~* n4 U& R, @! t- p
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

& F& D6 E' M% Z& T7 C% q) HAdministrative responsibilities:
; a4 R' H! K9 B% m5 Z1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its) h/ _! _. a2 U: U4 a4 X
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
[) F8 m) ~7 ?7 Q1 A4 w9 C' _' {& sdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the9 i5 a" L$ S' V2 r
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.# [5 m z* k$ A# v( D' m
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the k; U# k9 k K* A

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
; c5 X$ _; Z, R jAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
, h+ O1 y7 g2 Yimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating- o" j" w% \/ ]4 s
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.8 p1 F p, z: N p5 w
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and S( X: A K4 _2 y
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
0 N; r+ p1 J2 D+ n9 |* g; Hbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
% T- E1 E( I, m5 W/ lparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
. T4 [4 v& T3 p0 ^facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
1 ? ?- Y' \6 R- Jdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
3 O$ h7 p5 U/ M$ h) x. Pstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
% v' L1 t+ `0 h- ?# rmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
9 @& B' J2 H7 o9 x$ tdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms
