Roles and Functions
: u" |7 j9 K1 H9 I9 u/ |The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
6 V9 d- `2 F$ R# h8 Jorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the$ e( X$ T# [: W2 E; X. G- Q
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
5 e. d5 S7 l. [2 n ?% w2 Ithe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
2 w$ K" Q6 ]1 s" K* Woperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular. Z; d4 U+ e" Z8 G7 U
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
) e4 i& u j# d. S' Sconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an+ Q* w u3 K; b6 K# r8 R3 y( C
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires) M1 N' N& K% I7 T0 G! b' j& Y
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
( g% d9 @! Y. |. yall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the) {0 }3 \. }' O( Q) ~5 r
officers of the Coalition
0 Q1 F7 F# {5 Q' _9 Q: T2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
1 o3 E5 k0 n$ r+ ~0 K" o4 Iorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations }, H( C3 D8 j. p. n
and public institutions
9 m. }# q6 g T6 Y. [5 m3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
" f$ {+ ~: \4 h6 I; H1 p2 Nfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives, A) }. n5 B* [/ I% y
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
) C6 C+ e7 b; T Fregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of( N6 b! T5 x+ U& t
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the7 Z% a' `. d% c& B: U3 }
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.4 c* g6 q1 W- g6 Q
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
4 @1 I& t- A3 P+ b! p& y' oMulticultural Coalition7 v: B5 i3 V% b
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board Y5 [& M' y6 p1 r0 `! S2 p
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
+ o- _7 f8 `! i" E# rimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating: Z* h) w& Q3 w, t0 C0 \
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.6 i( O/ R- U: D
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
( |& k8 h! _& f- Xaims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should- P, y4 s p, Q3 G8 e
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership: G: f g+ ?- Q' Q8 T* I2 t; D
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and! F& F4 U) R8 `: ?( P! n0 d
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
' U/ R8 _/ }) L) o, P& d. X' Udirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial( i1 z" l4 A$ W% I
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
2 l; J* V! @) \6 ^! \matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

community level

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
