Roles and Functions9 ]6 M/ Y! x6 m; T- D1 e+ I
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the: M* U8 _* g8 [
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
2 S* J/ B) k, O% ioperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
, d: e3 h6 y# u/ S4 i W0 s7 ~the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,6 B) Y n' ?0 _% U
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
4 W# R! U) ~6 P& N4 K- kboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
- a9 w7 `5 e7 q& ~1 E' [7 dconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an; n) f+ b" h' q1 b9 R
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires# n' B5 s0 R" s# D
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
l) \8 u9 q# F" [1 t' U& i6 dall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.( b- p- U: D7 \& D5 v+ t

8 I% V& u! @% \1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the* C7 \6 D; j0 u% i/ q; x( L
officers of the Coalition" w# D0 ^8 M! c
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
. z. `7 V ^3 e% D3 [2 j) m+ Dorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations7 D* I3 Q0 C$ B1 d( _
and public institutions! w0 h! D$ @; s8 o' s& y8 o
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
' x7 `# D4 ~5 u- J) {7 [funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives. Z. r% b1 }! D) f9 Y! R
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community% \5 m& z9 W9 ?" L* ]3 T
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

5 ^. y8 q- v7 b* r% U2 a4 d7 _3 ?Administrative responsibilities:$ O' L& G4 }7 }. Q7 p# x
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its8 r6 g: ^6 A8 G5 t
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of2 T- e2 _) d$ ?
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
; R* r( j" N3 p3 T' m f# zmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.! _) w& e4 A1 N {
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
" @3 _/ i: q! q/ X$ hMulticultural Coalition
6 \( Z0 e% r3 H: X) ^+ j* O( jRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board8 r# m# Z6 x, U+ j/ ]* o
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
7 `2 O1 ~" V2 S4 h# |8 {* R0 Nimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating; y5 p( {' T8 j4 J) o6 {/ ?7 l
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.4 W0 Z/ C. p# I& L* n
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and/ L5 v' j; B: M
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should# X+ x$ T H2 G# o$ j: u
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership- s& l+ M" `' c
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and" `# Q( l. u, L
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
% j; w- N* Q5 F. adirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial- T3 h1 x- y6 E4 S6 Y9 {
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all$ Q; U, A( N- h0 |: c# e4 |
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
8 S$ `6 R% r3 r1 `$ ^directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of
% R5 q5 c0 a& m# S* dpolicies already adopted

1. Intercultural sensitivity, flexibility and an understanding or appreciation m s, }; E3 S0 N8 s# M/ j

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the2 `$ W8 m$ a% w

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power
