3 X. F4 `' x L0 JThe Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition+ t- p9 N7 K, A& g1 O0 q! E6 E
Roles and Functions8 P3 e0 T/ Q6 G3 [6 X% b$ q+ h
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
1 ^( @) E7 O$ v qorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
. Q7 ?" R0 A! j$ Woperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has; G5 S# Q; _3 @# S) g
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,3 s' B3 K2 J: N! L, X5 g$ O1 }
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular! q4 l8 T: h/ d
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is6 Q; R: _7 n% F
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an( k" R& V- e3 s+ C5 Z6 {
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
; s1 @3 G' }& P2 astaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
; L/ [% h, R& N5 Ball board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.' a! R, S. f" ^4 g. y
& l- r4 F Y' d7 p4 _2 i8 R9 rFunctions and responsibilities:
+ U$ O3 z, @. f$ @The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:8 ]4 }# i7 f! f. M1 y
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the3 O1 K) B) `$ c$ O$ D
officers of the Coalition
, j5 m+ c7 r& j- a: g' l" |. }2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural+ Y2 z8 |6 r- R9 z
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations* a% O5 z9 b# T0 k' N( O0 B
and public institutions
* z- V9 @+ Q0 x `3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
; i1 X8 I8 g& @5 @0 `$ bfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives7 l/ t" R" [6 K! P8 E
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community' Y6 {/ h/ {9 V! _4 H9 {7 {, V: H
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with% \/ d% r4 V) |& f1 @. S

' N/ e, @* A; U3 @* p, q# aAdministrative responsibilities:
8 ^4 U' t" q6 L) b- O2 G, |4 K1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its+ g7 K' _/ `. U$ F) @0 ]3 D& m; C
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
& R. H" L- } u6 c& N" x8 Cdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the* C4 ? h3 R0 z) F( m
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
$ W9 w* q- |+ |' s; E2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the5 f u: x, [/ j/ [/ {3 n; ~* Q; `

" X2 C# Q) W% w7 }! I" G8 I, w# timplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating. e' y3 K: W# B; A7 S a
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility." {% S1 H4 e4 w
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
! z6 I) L! M2 Raims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
, Z4 m, h+ d6 h; @2 Obe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership5 T* A/ J3 q$ b+ | m$ T+ {# H g/ T
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and5 N/ A2 a2 j: q: [& \
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of1 p7 j# E/ | Z* a1 y1 N4 \
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
7 t& e/ o- b1 L$ j) estatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
. L) b1 A4 S$ Q$ h+ _matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
# K" s2 \$ ~: [9 Kdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

communities

of funders, policy-makers, agencies and other decision makers

4. Experience in administrative work with a proven ability to multi-task and

community level

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with* P7 w( ]1 z$ \8 [% x/ E( g

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
