) h; Y( o9 J$ m0 WRoles and Functions' J4 A. \/ G. x0 e! u# i
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
" c& i+ R' e7 p8 ~0 korganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the0 B) A8 k6 ?% ~- H; @
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
8 @' |; S1 x$ l3 A. Xthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
' _" {- _$ N7 @3 H' Koperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
7 Z! f* J- j Nboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is. G2 E& {: u/ o. g
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
' e, V. F6 X6 R: [5 `* ]# hemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
) w5 }: A8 M& o+ l; x8 _2 g7 Q: Ystaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
@7 _- v$ n O: hall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.! O! G: y" d3 A5 i; X

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the! l2 O8 @7 i4 y3 s1 G; W
officers of the Coalition) R+ o) t$ O/ W! y1 s8 i% d
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural/ _0 M$ L4 i5 f6 w* s5 e
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
7 `* Z1 @4 {7 {7 K# I+ ^ [+ sand public institutions
% ^3 L- N! o+ D5 Q0 r# e4 ]3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
9 g+ m! b- p# Zfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives6 B- N3 l# R7 l( r$ {3 d
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
+ M. U5 @- D7 I* F+ w. Y* Forganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

, D6 U9 m: D. p( r: p1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its+ p' Q* a9 N. u1 t& R
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
; f8 x% w0 S8 mdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
% a4 D- n y+ F9 F) Omembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.

! y( ~& C5 X* @$ {# ^All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to) T+ y; q. v+ k# m/ h" Y
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
. Q$ [& X# `; |# H% Moperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.$ l/ k6 v. Y7 b4 W% }$ [% O
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and [7 N( Z* [0 s$ F
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
% m) T8 A. b+ ~8 I+ ube noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
' `6 s1 m" {% ^' z+ \% eparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; }, _2 ]7 m6 |5 n/ U1 U9 q. b- p
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of- D+ S$ R L6 K
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
7 z; V# w3 K" X8 J/ Y' Y& { bstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
' _# d7 `) D2 T; jmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of9 H) Z( }$ u5 M+ b& \8 }
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of+ @2 t! {( S0 V) ]" V

community level
