6 f7 x0 ~2 U; ARoles and Functions
. T/ @0 A: y: k; rThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
0 G% R7 F) |) k! o8 Torganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the0 s/ s- @& E7 F8 V2 q
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has5 C! K" p/ \ Y
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
2 P; l- r: }7 [, B, A: c! {; g% F* voperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular1 W# q* F( P- ~+ U1 T
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is, c: u6 s+ R( Z5 r
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
/ Q& f& j! F1 l7 g3 Temployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
. y+ ^8 y1 H: ~9 x* Ustaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend( w$ Q: y" @7 W6 R
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.9 A6 L: x( D- R) ? I l# D

Functions and responsibilities:

6 A* g2 ~7 R- f" W* R1 S( @1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the: O/ t7 ^) o) F& t6 M
officers of the Coalition6 |1 k3 N+ ~6 B! o
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural3 l. l9 E8 y# a" Z
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
1 Q5 v1 c% o5 U% D' C8 A' ~and public institutions
* e8 {3 U+ w& [4 M, ^% k/ k! D9 T3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through6 Y8 s) ?. A7 G# |% \6 c8 x
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
7 i: [9 C* }! r5 z: Q* j4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
3 U0 \" w( M8 d' c& V- f- S' g+ iorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with4 K+ m8 ~' {; C U

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

( q0 m! `! M6 O! E5 K' z1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its6 e' E R3 P2 ^
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
$ }3 o6 `9 l/ \4 Bdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
% z8 y% \- g f5 \, Amembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.
9 O9 U6 o- I9 t, h! ?( w4 E/ V- ]2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the( C" C. @; T8 ]0 f5 N

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
T) ~. y% A- R* eAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
: B) u4 D7 n) v5 d7 a7 h$ @$ V; ?" Yimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating6 B. l; ]% N9 W2 l
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
" f/ Z8 \) l6 ]6 IThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and, C1 t' d# m/ A
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
/ n* ~/ \( t4 m# {be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
8 y/ |7 o+ l+ ~7 a/ H8 K5 M1 Tparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and( M0 S* J- L7 c" ], ~6 u! K
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of6 k( G, m9 b" F+ X, w8 \
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
# v' s5 F, R' \- N+ g/ hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
3 a. r* _2 ?2 H# Z5 T7 Omatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of {/ i" C) ~% g9 m
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of( l+ ~! Y4 V' i. q

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
