! o0 P3 {. `, x. F9 _Roles and Functions
1 u7 ~5 z! F. F! hThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the6 _6 l0 p* U P. z+ G- ^3 t* C' ^8 g& k
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
7 g. [- `4 S0 T3 Coperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
3 p5 H9 B7 }, }the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
. L' j+ t) |1 c$ B# `operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
: t) i4 f% {2 N# v3 m9 Jboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is4 L0 q8 q* k: H
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an$ u: H2 |" M% y) q% p4 f
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires+ h7 s+ P* N# q' L! |- O
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend$ @* p- q! p6 x' [
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

; B" P/ Q: k2 r# M/ j: S$ w1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
' \; r! G6 u# s3 N* ~+ _ @' vofficers of the Coalition8 j* n/ Z$ i, b
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
1 }* c" f( A+ x& a+ V* g% rorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations6 ]4 Y. H$ b( i9 t1 ?
and public institutions/ [$ z0 U4 @+ J" U; l1 l @7 r
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
' }5 K% X" b7 M( \$ ?1 Jfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
) B1 k2 N, j; X" y( H; d4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community! c. t4 j% }& X4 i! z3 n/ f4 u. @/ P
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with, U6 K! }0 d& X8 P

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
% ?: g+ l# C0 j& v& C6 ^0 ?with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

& {, X" `9 H) ]0 VAdministrative responsibilities:9 k* \* [; i: a7 J) ~9 m
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its4 [7 k* c) g* p
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
4 { |# ]1 R; W. Z. V4 Jdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
! a$ R" R7 [ T1 S! J! bmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.
# P! S% P, [$ _" @9 w. |) H% y2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the. C5 W+ R: m" O9 U' B4 y# D

4 [+ N8 o5 W. V) S# U" a# @4 u& I* U' bRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board
& W' b& X+ ^" S5 kAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
! |7 u1 w) i y( C! p3 X# I" x! [! Y simplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating) K' b+ U- i; ~8 f
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
7 J$ F0 X7 g! d. E3 kThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and8 G) h" U7 M/ t' J: j7 e
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should9 }5 w& A, F5 v; y/ d$ J+ h
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
- e8 N4 O( |3 Z; }, R5 Hparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
9 h! j5 n2 H2 n& ]5 I% Nfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of. ~7 B! V9 k+ d. M$ u$ k
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
6 r8 k1 L* o- N. hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all9 m4 u2 r, q+ U% C
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
m7 p/ m$ Q; G: H# n$ t8 ldirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with" t5 w( N5 u0 {5 t0 d$ H

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
