Roles and Functions9 X- N1 V( }$ o
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
, c5 s3 d/ U7 h9 H, U- o Norganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the3 ^5 m1 f( y6 W0 E
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
2 p) N8 \5 k0 [$ T. u9 E+ Gthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
9 W+ W! H+ B( j' }5 B0 M' hoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
2 j5 d0 z4 t3 \0 }board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
% Q# c4 G. D) ~& D0 e) iconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
& d6 a3 t; B2 Q3 S7 ?/ }+ Bemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
0 ^$ j4 T7 G' a1 f0 Zstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
( n* u! m7 j, J. ?all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:& @2 K( ?; v4 C9 o( X
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
! b' {7 H: Z! c6 R1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the0 S2 ~; D. B5 }
officers of the Coalition* X% l% A$ F9 J
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
3 P( \" }- g# [3 iorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
3 ?2 S" F# C! _0 t) B6 p% e" Wand public institutions
6 ] c4 j& D0 K3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through$ b, A! V* H+ n2 K6 X- _6 `$ y
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives3 L, E' R+ \2 U+ O( _) E0 {
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community7 Y; {, n# |9 \$ Z- P
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with% \5 e- ~$ o! d$ T0 C% A

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its1 c3 K% o6 p2 M5 P! r8 f% n3 z
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
, g) g) b- _5 S3 j. sdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the* K( ~8 D: v q
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.' [( R* K1 ]& b% |
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the0 T* s. D2 q" i/ X

9 f. M! j$ B5 z. k8 c2 E2 i: ?All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to2 O' N6 \2 B" j
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
! B4 R9 q; z1 o1 h+ Ooperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
/ n% ~$ l2 y. s1 s' w. ?The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and/ Q( b5 F9 B1 z* `5 h* I. j# [
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should( m' q& n3 [- @
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership8 H" d& l# T$ _0 H
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and# S* r. i6 C+ b# N
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
3 Y$ m0 t# p! j Wdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial/ w* |) S6 J9 E/ H5 p1 i9 A
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
) M4 V4 [" r' Q# c% s9 r8 Y. Xmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
% @! _# s( n3 \8 M4 gdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of* I8 N# u7 C5 R+ }* F h
policies already adopted; o7 a' W0 T# z

community level

Pay Range & Terms
