Roles and Functions5 c9 z4 w5 c' @+ ]+ m0 m; ?
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
9 N! D8 P! {. _* C# n( L, Vorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the0 r" T, Q; l1 U: @+ g) |3 M1 X
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has/ {5 x6 u6 I' l, P
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,4 D9 A, L. u4 t
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular9 T4 Y4 I8 E M, Y( t4 e: y/ H3 z' v$ B
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is. R) p% j! v9 j3 C4 {0 D ]
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
- O$ c0 R# u) p2 j1 Femployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires q: t0 U) b F( e
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
5 f9 X# T5 G% d6 c+ Aall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:
. I# F4 y+ _7 nThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:* y$ R$ }! m x7 a5 b2 M
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
a5 C7 @! z( g9 l9 g5 |officers of the Coalition
$ h3 [; ]- K/ r2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural/ [& ?) n F; [# g6 q
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
! @' }, X# }6 P- ]and public institutions
* v( X' V5 f3 {! `: o- t- x: S, |. D) @3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
/ Z6 [: J( Y6 K' {) K6 Cfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
% W8 t. r! B. `4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
3 A! J* T; c/ U& w9 p# g" Norganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with
" r! R$ V) b! q( Bthese organizations
; n+ y& k* X- v5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community
! K) [2 k" n" B' ~3 sleaders

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working g& h- N. V* Z
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically5 }( \7 f" c$ j3 h% }' f4 D& `
diverse backgrounds

$ V% E, b3 ^% y1 t/ EAdministrative responsibilities:
8 Q z& N; e7 w4 t9 Q1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its y6 a' ^$ i( ^ u7 F
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
4 j' b4 f! M- J/ Hdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the, [! Y, [' `# w, j$ p- p) c
members of the Coalition’s financial condition., g' c) j2 B3 t& d X
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
# x8 C7 y( _2 [. y$ Y7 S/ b6 U DMulticultural Coalition/ Y- S( S; i; T- O3 }+ H o( J
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board/ I# R8 b1 n& D9 o0 a( s" R. F1 j
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
3 E7 v a& J, r, bimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
! t! B( H! c) Z0 ^6 T D* Joperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.- v% _* E- s0 S1 I/ B- M9 w' o( D
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
- S6 e* @0 h2 \aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
6 M! v. G3 W! Pbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
0 v) P Z) H: N' I0 }% ~* Xparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
9 J% L7 [. Y( t a9 Dfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
: m& W* P. n1 N2 N9 }8 c* I0 Pdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial/ F& f2 @4 l" \
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
' a; h/ `* I) {( \5 \: T$ Ymatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

policies already adopted

community level

Pay Range & Terms
7 O8 V6 w7 _3 {& M/ EThis is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
