Roles and Functions
7 U; I* x3 m" ]" ?1 ~0 hThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the, f# U5 N, [3 K
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
$ B8 x% f* b3 m6 ^, M2 Boperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has. m: z% G* {# O5 h1 B5 U
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,1 k3 J5 X; K2 k9 u- S! E& c8 T
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
% P/ w6 s- v$ J# i1 F+ N( l" C) q2 bboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
5 A* @2 k2 N7 d7 D# i; mconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an' E% d! Y o0 S% ]( t* z
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires" E0 y6 y) s, T. h
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
B% Z0 g! N. F$ n; l+ g& Qall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
0 }+ @- w l- W, |- w y1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the ]8 X4 j$ q3 w
officers of the Coalition4 s% p9 }& z( M4 V" `
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
+ Q% d9 [+ j' J: J9 \organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations7 G& C6 W7 c& a4 S- O
and public institutions
$ S5 u$ D9 ^" x' K3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
, }+ E4 I F$ ^. `" w0 Q* _9 _7 E2 ~funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
; M" L8 K; x( f1 }. g1 V4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community+ \3 N7 Q; E' u0 n
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with! H; p: h+ @: p3 @

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working

Administrative responsibilities:
1 B$ z0 S. \* e9 ]% e* _1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its3 z) {/ j# w) v& I
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
7 ~3 N4 w R8 C8 S4 R" t& gdirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
+ n! d" o' |0 Hmembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.
" |- R! h% w2 F2 ]2 X2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the/ k( [! L j6 W/ q

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
- O2 m: t7 |% }, {: B$ e/ MAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
, b" J2 j5 w# `1 M" H5 @+ C* d' Himplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating0 Q g) U! e( \3 F; j- h: j
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
! \9 Y1 \& l- N) I4 M1 oThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and3 s" |# K2 q' Q) v# q% a/ P2 y `
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should' N# x2 k+ p/ N5 A" E1 @, {
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership/ Z5 X2 k2 b1 n" }' k: N6 b) C4 c% C
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and1 |* k5 n" A |6 n/ w! F) y! f
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of

5 r. I7 _0 _9 F/ i& W; zstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all) y ]6 W: H- j: n2 W3 K" S4 `
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of3 d* k+ b5 j" O: R* d2 ^
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

community level

Pay Range & Terms
