/ v/ {+ J9 U# q8 Z S3 ARoles and Functions# F6 {+ |3 q! [& F6 a+ ^
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the- a1 J6 l# A9 F$ P1 ?
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the. a7 K# M: P4 Q8 K1 R/ S: N
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
* Z# E# ^9 v+ q8 }; V7 vthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
5 e! N8 d# m4 ]# S( `( R( doperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
0 q6 h& F" g: ^5 [# Q+ ^. [% W& _board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
9 f! D: y( v5 F Yconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
# y7 j: R/ R1 L+ k' W" J8 y5 d1 demployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
9 r$ ^, C7 G' ?! m( M* u* pstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
" \2 ?) \2 H Y" Mall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:
* D# B' H0 l+ ~4 h, L% Q3 CThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
1 |& M: H& j: G% E* n6 l# ~1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
4 v0 F# ^4 a" V( \3 L8 B: x5 nofficers of the Coalition5 S3 r# d6 T) `1 f
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural8 G- f% b$ u5 @& K
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
$ w5 d; N l; f+ `; W% _1 Q$ P, u9 Aand public institutions3 t. i9 S& x Z
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
! \ |* U {7 L- p9 E u8 Bfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives7 V S6 _& M3 r" l: W$ p
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community: K0 P# Q) [7 b& T, H0 f
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with; J9 a/ Z7 E! k! h! c

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically8 g& _# q3 ~# W3 N q! k
diverse backgrounds

Administrative responsibilities:
( h! E& x2 p: `3 m) O' _$ W& j1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its) j2 `% d5 i3 A+ b
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of0 i: i8 C" O' X9 y1 J+ l
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
7 `. F# r3 T H) y7 ?members of the Coalition’s financial condition.* O; _+ x' v- o
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the( }5 s6 H; ~2 \% M- D# F; K. V7 S1 a- y

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board3 g% Q7 D' R, B, ?: I% E
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to# P R. @( Y5 w" z
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating" N( R8 c8 H$ s: f& _# }
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.( w; c" ]; X" x+ h% D
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and0 @+ k# l' W; f
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
2 l0 I i, I8 o( e' t: d Fbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership4 C4 g0 d. [# I/ h! p! B
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
9 m% A5 J1 L3 Wfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
3 N: S- k4 Y0 x. P0 }directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial0 j' a9 k* h' k. m( u
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
# G6 t, V# T( @3 ^; Qmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
" t% z8 O& m7 y5 kdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of7 _* x( r5 f# ?0 @" o; s1 x
policies already adopted

8. A diploma or degree in Social Work, the Social Sciences, Public Health, or

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with0 _: J6 B V$ D0 S' J% v
possible extension depending on funding.
