. N+ \' w) q1 jRoles and Functions g* a0 R {3 B+ G9 U% R' u
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
a. G% V' L$ o$ [8 L% rorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the" ~/ e& o) C" r$ {( \
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has' J4 e1 J& b2 x$ P( T1 t; S
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
# \7 z5 d3 g6 b6 J' M( K1 Zoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular8 ]# H- J% a+ H
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is- P6 y7 \$ l& \8 Z: l# J
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
1 z, F6 R/ O: l* nemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires& f6 c5 K8 X. Z- ~, ?3 q
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend) J( M2 c' I8 ^ f
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.. k1 d0 @9 D3 \7 l6 T1 k& v) F

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the3 ]* r# e2 Q# v2 {" d( J
officers of the Coalition! p8 _: E0 N7 C
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
7 J' }9 h$ J( e* u4 F1 Yorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations/ q" b, |: ]- V1 }- o* V- i4 _
and public institutions
: W9 U }2 C) C m0 T3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through3 D1 R$ T' T6 a0 d1 f4 E* ?( |
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
" X5 U4 |! Y& a/ }4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community) T0 ?, f6 Z* ^8 l
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic5 B3 L6 k2 e4 m
participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

Administrative responsibilities:- j& H- P& |: W U) O$ S$ B$ D
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
. g% t# A( F3 }' ~regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of* Z. G" G' }! c! }
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the( w; J0 O# s# Z# V3 O
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.- g: k4 F2 ?+ P$ ? a5 s
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the: }' ?( R( @: B

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board; T! H* n: }5 ~! L
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to' ~4 l$ v4 r: T% C0 O1 ]# ]' r) T
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating4 w/ s# Y7 j1 N$ }' v O
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
w6 `1 c2 Y" t2 {- _The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
) |0 f! j6 u: }6 S( E6 e/ Taims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should# |2 e- @8 ?1 {$ h4 O/ A
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership, c0 a" |& U+ [7 r1 q" L& |
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
+ y$ u0 k6 f9 b" rfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of! U6 }1 ~2 y# q1 R; u \
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial5 Q! y7 e' _% h) g
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all4 t" A1 l* B! [6 h) K/ M
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of' K. z3 b0 \" A8 }2 u" H& G# u
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

5. Facilitation skills and ability to design, develop and deliver workshops an

community level

Pay Range & Terms
