& X# y; X. B4 W* FRoles and Functions+ d1 F# X! I' R, z; g
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
1 t( B4 z3 c& e% l# y! \4 qorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
# K0 l7 d2 K. P* l) n2 c' ?2 m% uoperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has5 u0 K4 O9 w) f8 S) i4 `+ d
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,$ o9 e7 K3 ^2 n- V. i9 ~
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
2 A/ S* J$ x* S: d3 iboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is7 h: X: T: V) D7 E4 o8 _
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
1 r) r! o& j" c" I, iemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
# v) C7 D/ n# C! A! Z8 astaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the' Z7 Q& E+ n! N- i N+ B, S% |! U
officers of the Coalition3 H' s; Q0 B6 q
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural A) J f* R% F2 L% [4 G7 u; b
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations+ W% f1 x: g+ h( F
and public institutions! y" Z9 J5 ^/ e; k6 _: d, |
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
' D4 r/ F: h' H V0 Nfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
& a' u. V+ R6 z# S+ k% T4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community0 y5 A" }* g& C! x4 O
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with+ P% @% e3 o: I b6 c. |( a% `

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community2 q- \0 C6 D9 q1 W& l b
leaders

" r! u+ N/ u" W' qparticipation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society

Administrative responsibilities:9 e$ o. Z% |8 G Y( l) G& }
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its# u5 N6 W9 c- u9 }1 y: w
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of1 s+ }7 x1 L# l: J$ C N1 o
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the
: S8 ` q9 C1 P; Imembers of the Coalition’s financial condition.6 c( z5 D- M, f# ] s( M! F
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
4 S, _: P! y- p1 YMulticultural Coalition) h$ C! b% Z/ U
Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board* B. E; j7 `! V( ^6 t7 e4 Z
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to* T% Y7 T# X" Z6 h. S# O
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating9 n9 O& b3 _; h% y" ~" }
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.0 F+ ]; a8 Q" g" F
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
! y# C a$ r6 k" paims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
. F3 M$ t* u/ g8 i, sbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership2 _- G: G* A) `' `' J/ f+ R/ U# _
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
0 z/ ~2 ?) t$ A/ Ffacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of3 n. [& }* Y4 Q K% w# r- \
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
4 E1 x( c1 V0 y( ^' E! [! ?5 sstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
- K v/ D* ?: L) D' a5 |matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

policies already adopted

8. A diploma or degree in Social Work, the Social Sciences, Public Health, or

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power

Pay Range & Terms
