. [" k- z) P( \. [# @( a. NRoles and Functions. Z* D7 h$ ^( G' U3 Y9 P
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the! K* c' y) `% L% R$ r9 m5 T
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
+ M' _( {1 c% D t H9 J* }operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has" n0 i3 d1 e2 D- ^5 ?5 S3 S
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,/ V+ ?, C/ @! w4 J- A6 b
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular3 `5 I' F; c7 q4 p6 B
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is- U& F, C1 T& p3 u
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an7 ?, Y) i8 Q$ s& K8 `
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires) ` y4 s: o3 R$ A& P
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
% P1 U8 |. Y7 j2 r6 kall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.8 h U$ p7 n+ @, M, K% ^

Functions and responsibilities:+ H, W( M% s& i0 V
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
4 \) F5 `% L" f5 {$ a* x1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
8 l: m( t/ G/ b% o, D( ~officers of the Coalition' Z- R; I, q) h/ }' n J0 A
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
+ t* }* F# S5 v) m8 K2 k' q( ^organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
, ?: |# ~6 ]4 M U. k, T0 Yand public institutions
: L# m8 ~1 x1 z3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through6 E: c2 k+ x4 {% L. p3 b, ]
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
* Z1 u) G1 C4 ` s4 P+ f2 Z4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
@9 U7 R3 p2 f3 {, [* corganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with5 |1 N. K% J. x+ l

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community" Q3 f* \1 Z4 c

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic C, |( j& p# g0 W
participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society1 Q1 W/ f# [4 ~9 P
7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working# m/ z) h6 B6 B# P. |- e% {
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically
8 h3 C- t' Q L) K3 ~" adiverse backgrounds: g& q9 W, H1 Z" s# E
/ @$ \* N0 ~+ [4 i# tAdministrative responsibilities:" l+ |/ v1 S" e
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ w8 W5 ~" W! Q* k
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of( w- F7 l# z8 X# S6 D- ]9 M
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the) j/ Z. J0 l: T: w6 M
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.- o' O+ H: D5 l" F
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
0 d9 M# w( b5 AMulticultural Coalition
6 [# O4 }, V) b/ t& RRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board
5 q+ w6 `3 N6 ?0 W, U# M2 SAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
/ b% c9 |& ]# t( Kimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating. h0 | j4 n) |; s3 v
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
, a) v8 K5 B' c0 p$ l6 C: r" XThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and: X5 P& m" W- e/ J! c- C% I# T/ V
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
7 J! K V d/ q1 c mbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
_" B5 o7 Q% |0 Y/ t$ d' }# ~participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; \: W( N. j2 O! p+ @! k
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
' y0 v( n7 p, A9 ]directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial% B' K5 J. {: C. V% G" Q
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all0 x( l' O5 j1 V0 O; Y' Q
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
6 m& b' J( C1 a3 @: T7 ~" r6 bdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
