* n0 @5 c0 v5 O W7 V8 aRoles and Functions+ [* }0 R0 W# ^" y9 R8 j. z c, d
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the6 g8 g/ j4 G. `% q, h
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the# B5 [2 V# ^, f4 b) `8 G3 b1 \
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
/ z* a- o$ _$ e% ?6 i M' l! qthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
" [' u8 c7 |" x% s2 noperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
% {1 b1 H" x/ G8 k- f4 n6 ]board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is3 D" D" w( c7 ?* Z7 A
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an, \& `5 y) ~' y1 X( d
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
# L g! u) w+ L& ystaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
$ }* V+ h* x( ?8 \/ I9 `+ pall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:, i' k/ S6 a- _
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:7 s7 q" T6 I! W8 _% z
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the* ?7 J# X: a0 E9 j4 y
officers of the Coalition
; I: R/ v% Y9 v9 F0 V4 ~. j2 u- G2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
: m# K& g- y* porganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
7 m5 { g1 |% t/ W2 A' {& t: Zand public institutions2 f6 X, O$ t. e; R% s, O1 Q T
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through* J/ O6 ?3 e0 k2 P# L9 _
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
4 R( _7 R1 E% R; }% {4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
& v N5 J! ~( @0 uorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with* _0 A; `1 J# O8 M% T

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

; g4 U, J' X$ I3 ^6 A. bwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

Administrative responsibilities:
1 L: E7 }4 c# Z, l$ @; e1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
) [0 D" B. r% p9 v# o: z3 k2 iregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of; v+ R" N" E6 O* Q
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the. y; ?3 G- z7 _% C; C. t. _# c
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.# n J# L5 O4 n& c4 I- T
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the) Y( e* X+ b/ t# R4 r

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board7 C, V1 o0 x, H" S" f4 r# S( e
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
0 |1 o2 R, Z; F2 @$ O2 e8 bimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
0 B1 n- M- z! o. X* E) H, I5 v% _operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
* f" G" D. ~ fThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and8 N9 P8 f: I9 g7 u6 g! Y( E' o
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should. Q( }6 l9 U" x0 R* o
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership9 \$ \1 p# o+ m* m5 V9 P
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
: p6 Y1 f: _' p6 w" i1 ?0 Wfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of9 Y& K& [' C8 q) ]1 h
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial$ ]6 ?5 N: ~! a% `6 W( f
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all( S% h! u. Y0 v+ @2 @3 j1 P
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of# M) V9 T; n- {/ p' r; D
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of
( h' z+ f/ E( y' C: c1 cpolicies already adopted

Pay Range & Terms
