0 _% S( [, S Z# J5 c+ KRoles and Functions/ _8 |6 R2 S: y O# k
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
/ p- F( y- j$ f8 W0 ]) e4 Iorganization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the2 X% z+ `9 f c/ {2 ~2 o
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
4 \+ z3 G9 U8 R- r1 ^0 B$ ^9 K& qthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
+ x7 D! P* q4 eoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
/ l/ E L6 M& Lboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is: g+ l- U7 E2 v; w$ l4 h9 e2 H
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an1 T. {9 f# z V
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires/ l' ]; N; G4 F N( C
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
9 t2 z5 m1 w- p; v1 M+ d% ?% ball board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.7 j- m: q: h9 ~' p7 r8 J
1 b2 g0 p7 T0 U0 d# O; m+ F" AFunctions and responsibilities:
# a5 V' S/ ~' EThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
* B7 i- I9 t+ }, v* U1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the) G+ [/ \( F" k( g, G; [5 x
officers of the Coalition: R8 c0 x% O2 D% Z
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural5 w* \/ W. t' J. u9 F" e
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
: `( K! r9 f& N0 fand public institutions
3 |3 [$ f3 i* g% T* y3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
9 s; O- ^$ o) A. r! X6 E4 ^funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
# h4 i, c1 l" k+ G7 R: P1 q4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community) `! ~& t. v/ ]$ `/ M5 |
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with0 ~8 ]9 P) \2 c

participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society: V7 F+ B+ }: I2 m, C) }. y6 z
7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
+ L* g8 i5 [# h" i7 G9 x* Bwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically. i1 g: O; Y, i! g4 W- x
diverse backgrounds

& {. i) f3 g$ }; c3 RAdministrative responsibilities:
) w" g% a! @8 d+ d1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
4 h7 @% v/ c7 u/ lregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of& h) d8 |* w/ h/ c' O
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the( i8 X. G+ U# m% w% N; r5 [
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.4 q6 ~% [3 u+ ]4 B# |: ^
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the9 V: G9 {* w0 N+ S& D

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board
. g! G+ O& |+ k. a9 JAll operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
# P# t7 h, }1 {7 y, [* [implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
& R% H! c2 L! {/ Roperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
/ T& r# ]" g$ W& n; oThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and/ w- m: t5 T7 m
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
$ g# Q$ b; ]( ^be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership/ @/ N6 C7 E2 U6 u' G
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
0 e" z4 q& G! w# T/ G" O0 ?% mfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of4 L' g/ J/ ^ o, t
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial' |9 |+ ?' f- D: ^* a
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
5 { u, p/ P, R4 Qmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
) m/ f0 n: R/ C9 a6 M* _- \5 Fdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of' E) s& Y4 {; X7 k; |! R8 k. t# R

8. A diploma or degree in Social Work, the Social Sciences, Public Health, or

Pay Range & Terms
2 v! W4 y$ w4 NThis is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
