- V9 A: W' Y d- B- `9 hRoles and Functions" _4 T9 j3 t9 q3 {
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the8 T: j/ V4 m3 Z8 e" F5 r- {- P
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the5 V: s" F8 `; d! ?! S; s1 W& }
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
1 o. y) x7 S" }the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
. z1 C! c" {6 \: }. x. L1 o. U! Aoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
( c( ^! c0 Z6 W9 x8 bboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is. ]1 V: t3 t, e r& P
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
/ ]8 j# P0 K8 n+ q' T2 Oemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires" Q, U0 v/ _. o5 _4 D. O9 A
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
/ Z) F% O7 k8 Xall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:
( M' Y# ~! T8 R8 N! q5 w! A' DThe specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
& ~% B- V" t0 l1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
6 K) G6 I: r6 q7 U6 P) d" Aofficers of the Coalition
- ?' P7 M+ w8 V3 k/ G; r2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
3 ? @- I( m" C2 iorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
$ a1 {! x2 C1 f: T* land public institutions3 }7 j( D) u$ D
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through" N. g4 w2 n$ c, _8 g. p
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
6 y7 P# Y8 u; a' s. O5 l% J* O; E4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community' `% U+ S, b: w2 q* G7 v+ ~3 G
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working6 }1 \9 J( Q% G6 n
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

8 \9 l+ d7 f' v4 f) b3 X4 JAdministrative responsibilities:; `/ {6 u9 K% V! J" c
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ ?/ V' w* {: X
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of: u' {! o' y0 B3 T$ B$ B7 V8 w
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the/ \2 V3 |% {. l# _8 u9 Q
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
0 ]+ j- G5 s. ^' k2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the/ {) G0 q! [2 f4 i+ y1 `

$ J z- q$ ^8 ^+ MRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board) z3 o3 r- a4 }' L3 G) M
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to' q/ {) u& O0 k7 Y3 W. s
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating9 P$ E% w8 z/ z' n
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.3 Z/ y9 v3 Z* x) l
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and) _: l( b. b$ [+ d" \: ~
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
+ R+ t+ |% A( p0 x6 Qbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership3 G% h/ u* } O0 T: `5 \" N7 i
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; d f& A5 P9 O
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of6 u; J% ^) j4 P! d, f- }1 _3 f
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial8 q- O; h2 d: C$ }) I
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
3 B8 v% ]8 f" wmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of' S8 D7 Q/ [, r r
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of4 _" p2 b8 Q% S$ B6 T, |6 t. }

1. Intercultural sensitivity, flexibility and an understanding or appreciation

2. Leadership and critical thinking skills to bridge the needs and struggles
& ]+ ]# R: N* T$ } J. k7 xof immigrant and refugee communities with the interests and mandates

3. Experience in writing grant proposals and accessing funding

5. Facilitation skills and ability to design, develop and deliver workshops an+ n- N5 I" M0 K1 Y O

9. A minimum of 2 years experience in project management at the

Pay Range & Terms
