The Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition" G% S% B6 I/ |5 d) `) z( U
Roles and Functions
~8 L) q$ |: D' [2 uThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the g) u, t2 A0 x4 y+ t! }
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the" u% C) x6 x1 J
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has) j5 N3 J* g7 A* x9 }, U
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,: b8 `9 j1 j3 j2 Z& R
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
% v( Q' K8 d+ s8 e' Aboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
2 K |9 m9 t; j7 bconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
; ^" p3 G" P$ E" a# r q6 ^employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires' W6 w5 }5 C0 d. D, @8 Y. V. C3 p
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
# _/ C8 l) U A0 ~; Mall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.5 n+ c+ g: E6 S# B1 \ q% y

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
( I; M& z5 D" B7 t2 a( i/ v' \1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the; P$ @- t4 m# R e; X
officers of the Coalition
" y' L+ K! h4 L6 b* i: l; _/ P2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
$ p5 ?: D$ J2 S7 lorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations' d. W% t( N b* y, _: R1 |/ N
and public institutions
8 P. z( y- p6 u4 k% T! a# h& ~( T3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through1 }* X# D( a* @0 ]0 E' f# N
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
0 Q) C) \1 S7 l% G) W x) i4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
) E0 U. L' I& y9 vorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with/ _/ K. r$ m+ M, o$ `) H

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community: Q7 H1 s1 K' [: x% c4 _' v4 S0 o

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working+ L* s$ W0 u! c* B1 V
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

$ d0 v, t/ h3 v+ }) H( S" A6 A8 IAdministrative responsibilities:0 Q8 x0 t; f5 T
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ T4 U- G% C' k/ x
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of6 x8 e# ]0 H- V. {, k9 Z# ^' ]% v
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the8 f$ m3 N( q9 I, o/ J5 U
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
$ Q5 ]9 I) B# y/ G/ X$ u5 n S2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the+ }9 C* d% b& c6 e4 `+ y. T$ T

Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board( A0 R! A% g1 {: E5 J: \# f
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
/ k$ h" w/ [6 |- t4 T0 uimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
u, R4 ]4 A# l. j3 `6 v4 Y3 }operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
$ v& r8 ?4 I* r$ {6 qThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and. S! @ u8 v0 `; R' U k
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
. I" Y w" B5 [5 I% Sbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
" [0 Z: `' s$ _! j' |participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and3 t7 i2 L4 _% u. v/ M& P. ]/ O+ H& }
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of+ e( z+ G$ M9 ]. y- h p7 I2 K- d" t
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
/ a/ a& Z' i, j6 d; Y' ^2 Lstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
. c/ y) _( l: E/ M+ \( z- K6 n2 E0 Ymatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

2. Leadership and critical thinking skills to bridge the needs and struggles

4. Experience in administrative work with a proven ability to multi-task and

Pay Range & Terms
