I immigrated to Canada for over 18 years. My experience to get a job is normally through my previous employer, supervisors and coworker. I had the luck to review some resume and attend interview as an interviewer not as an interviewee.

So before you go to interview, equip yourselves with the codes (such as National Building Codes, CSA, Alberta Infrastructures Standard, City of Edmonton Standard..etc) Do not use GB or ASTM that you are familiar.! b( l8 O3 ]) V

My experience is a lot of luck as I got a Senior Engineer position in Government six months after arrival. I remember when I was granted the interview. My supervisor asked me if I had Canadian Experience and I said no. But if you guy do not give me a chance how can I earn Canadian Experience. My supervisor bought that explanation and gave me the job. |
