Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
8 M7 w. j2 m3 d Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
1 s: ~" L- z' N0 d% V- n  G Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
0 l8 H: e5 w% Q9 K0 g. P7 N Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

5 B. ~! D0 v: N8 V  S5 b4 r/ V Social work degree or diploma
6 b- t# `2 f; g) j Current RSW designation preferred   
, @# n* _: V$ x Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
* F# X5 C+ c/ `9 u! A/ z- V+ k; _ Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
" E: @1 W! J( l4 M5 H Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
; \& k& D2 p' S, O# Z) E Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
/ U% M$ a( a# m1 x Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
5 }, ?. T" ?% E; O3 p Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
