Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

0 O( y2 d0 S' s2 \; @ Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
$ P7 x. E4 r; z9 A( l, ~9 n4 K Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
* q' P7 i8 v/ Y% K( B5 b Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
; Y0 M/ W5 N. X- T8 V* O Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
# p4 v& _% E( D$ h Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
3 I2 [4 m2 @% Y. I6 l. T& a& g Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:
  k& y, |9 c- x- H
 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
) }/ s! v* O3 ]  Q( R' ^$ e Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
! h' G8 L. f6 v% v/ m+ U Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
4 {" \! l; e# Cstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
