Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

. A3 R  K% y9 h Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
7 k! U: d; ?" P" Y$ f/ p Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
( o8 _$ F  I$ a! U3 M3 q7 V/ o Completing required paperwork.
" _' X/ o! o# i4 ^7 T# I/ P% ] Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
1 X9 E  P; r+ k6 f9 G4 [7 e: i Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

. r1 b, @8 Y6 h% S Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
- D1 V# e* b: q: O2 Q Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
1 t% d% S' X* h% a0 k Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
, J# M) z- [/ I1 f' C% N1 E Knowledge of community resources.
( B! ^+ w  D% V* g' |9 ^& v Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
) A" t- O0 L3 [9 n3 \. t6 T
Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
