The length of the heat trace is 22 meters. The size of the heat trace is 5/16 inch (WATTS/ m SUPPLIIED is 43.7)

We can see it is not easy to install the 22 meters heat trace according as figure 1' F. w5 o9 f: G& p

As a normal question we just discuss: a; g1 q1 B2 u7 b6 \3 o
How do you run these 9.4 meters heat trace (size 5/16 inch) on the 3 inches 1.4 meters pipe ? 4 J5 o2 \5 l2 t" ~! C( }, j
I call this is JACK LAI Spiral Method 螺旋法
1 b* c- `2 L+ ?" U( F* H* L) ^The outside circumference of the 3 inch pipe is more than 10 inches. See figure 2.
2 ] p8 ?: M5 E% Y; S) m, LThere are 10 positions to plac the heat trace. They are 0.1,2,3,,,,,9. The distance between each position--heat trace is about one inch. 4 b7 g4 \5 b, U2 q2 o: l$ h6 q& r; I
Because the pipe is horizontal, position 0 can not be placed. See figure 2
- ?& s6 q- r! L! x/ D- jBecause the maximum bend radius of the heat trace is 2 inches( see note 1), position 5 can not be placed. See figure 2. Then the route of the heat trace can be like figure 3
+ W$ W% U, [1 F6 q3 U9 u; sThe total heat trace that can be installed here is about
, u$ h. U+ X Q6 G1.4 * 6 + 1 * 2 = 8.6 + 2 =10.8 Meters
/ T# h8 e: t& Y9 gSo, the 9.4 meters heat trace can be installed along the 3 inched 1.4 meters pipe without a problem.

1. The minimum bend radius:
4 N6 c9 [8 U% e& j9 w/ l9 EBecause the heat trace size here is 5/16, 6 times the outside diameter of the heat trace is
|% a3 w9 u& s8 Q9 S5/16 *6 = 30/16 almost = 2 inches: ^0 |( x9 J9 k4 H% N( q
So the maximum bend radius is 2 inches.5 M- `" F }3 T5 ^7 y6 ~5 u
