As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

9 }: u1 e; T( Z0 ~. O( e• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
+ L* c3 R+ W) k- N* P• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
/ D. ?5 B4 H* m9 u, k• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
' X5 o: B  q6 x) N, d5 F• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
$ q( m* n. R" u7 A0 x& A. \• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
: H! z, }  @7 |• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
/ @0 }+ B5 Z6 [/ C" G8 j• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
. y3 T$ r  I& Y& R7 o• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
3 k. l/ A7 g" V) E! r  d7 m) N• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
! j5 a6 z: U- v/ u9 C/ O• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
+ x. n, f7 q+ l# C* O1 z: c& W• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
% d! \5 m/ E, j1 |- m( D• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
