n9 F5 @ i, p# R3 C Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
3 L1 ]& D- v1 T, C/ l6 \2 J0 v( r9 P3 `community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to % u& B) S* W8 A- L9 U! S" X
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. * f0 u7 T1 c) b7 a1 y8 p) w# @
5 H! o+ W( E( q8 j$ U! J Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
( V5 h2 j! Q; zThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, & R! P4 I9 n( r Q5 v: N! g
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
2 c1 d4 b4 f: tWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
h7 G- y; @ C5 @+ _: q2 Bneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for 7 ~! T% g5 E, ?8 ^
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 6 G' d# ^' b: N8 S, s) W6 u/ v+ Y& n ^
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-0 G5 k9 H! t7 d& f% ?/ }! C
centered delivery model. 3 @( W9 u' ?- ^

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Qualification
* G' @1 n' u! v* e) W & h2 P7 r9 S% U1 @! ]4 }
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
9 X! t2 k* X( r, Hexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
1 w3 \6 r4 i$ r. _' q b Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family R6 h) n* v, S C+ S
support needs 3 z; ?) _: p" ?0 [
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
6 h* ?2 N3 {- n9 R Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
4 _. {. e: W8 n$ u6 P& _ Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
