% B) \( C' [& n, h. j6 {$ g: A" rThe Organization: The Multicultural Coalition is an organization that has engaged emerging immigrant and refugee communities in enhancing the communities’ organizational capacity, facilitating partnership development, implementing community-developed advocacy strategies and civic engagement through community animation. Roles & Functions: The Associate Coordinator will work with the Community Based Research Committee to design & coordinate the research activities while also engage in literary research & writing the report/recommendations. He/she shares the responsibility for the over-all management/operations of the programs.

( I( c& |3 u+ H) N2 z! \& AThe Associate Coordinator has the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress, operational concerns, organizational problems/accomplishments. He/she will help design deliver & organize program activities based on the ideas expressed by the membership/board AND, will share the coordination of the immigrant/refugee leadership, community animation/advancing social policy program activities.2 ~7 t8 S7 T( j+ I+ ~
( J+ s' i& H8 Z6 G7 [3 xSpecific tasks for the position include the following: coordinates the community based research program of the Coalition; provides over-all coordination of program activities in consultation with the coordinator of the Coalition; builds/sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations and public institutions; organizes learning opportunities for formal/and informal community leaders on various aspects of civic participation and organization development. b3 t. f! PLUS: build & nurtures a pool of community animators skilled in facilitating first language dialogues and discussions; offer opportunities for service providers to learn/experience working with groups & communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds; seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through ongoing initiatives and secure funding; liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community organizations as well as the media and: build strategic relationships with these organizations.6 w3 T% z4 [% z; w

Administrative responsibilities: Ssupport the bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of directors, and at the regular annual meeting present a statement to the members of the Coalition’s financial condition.

9 E% N% r, k1 N3 \4 m0 ~Key Competencies/Assets: community based research skills; cross cultural sensitivity, flexibility and an understanding or appreciation for the complex dynamics of emerging immigrant and refugee communities; leadership/critical thinking skills to bridge the needs & struggles of immigrant and refugee communities with the interests/mandates of funders, policy-makers, agencies and other decision makers; facilitation skills and ability to design, develop and deliver workshops; writing, plain language & proposal/report writing skills an asset; public speaking/media relations skills an asset. ; {: z5 q" S) v7 ~
