This position is responsible for assessing client needs and short term one on one counseling to individuals addressing the social/emotional needs of older adults & their families. The position will focus on assisting seniors or their families, who make contact with SAGE, to articulate/prioritize their needs, deal with issues they are facing and to make informed referrals as necessary./ v% L) u3 R$ c* J7 W1 F
( | o/ F* o1 C! NAs a professional social worker, the incumbent will adhere to the Social Work Code of Ethics as published in the A.C.S.W., and be a member in good standing of the AARSW. This position will work with the Housing Coordinator, Seniors Social Worker, Safe House Coordinators, the Full House Coordinator and volunteers on the reception/telephone lines.

+ ~- N7 M* t$ @: f% H6 VThe Ideal Candidate: is a Registered Social Worker, College or University prepared, holds a valid First Aid certificate, is able to provide a Criminal Record Check that is free of criminal convictions, has (and be prepared to use) a vehicle/possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and is able to obtain $1 million auto liability insurance with a rider that permits transportation of clients./ I7 u* r* K: ^ D

He/she has experience in community-based case management/assessment, is able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs of older people, is knowledgeable of community resources & services related to older people, is self-motivated/able to work as part of a team, has excellent communication & problem solving skills, has familiarity/experience with issues related to senior volunteers and is computer literate especially with MS Word & Excel.
