If the tree is not too big or in the way of anything, I don't even bother to prune, just cut off the dead/dried branches.

Accroding what you said that prune should be done in spring but not fall ,enh?In my garden , some buds are already seen easily , can you tell me what is apparate way to prune that insure the flowering for the next year ?

I didn't mean pruning MUST be done in spring, as far as I know, buds are set in the fall, that is why one has to be careful if one chooses to prune in fall not to cut off the buds accidentally. If you are sure you can see them easily, then I don't think that is a problem to you. I myself only prune in spring since I see no difference whether it is done in spring or fall.
