Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
. E5 p; I: \& u8 l" aexecution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % E7 f- i9 g0 K: p! T* L" u/ w
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 ]) T$ I/ k4 v+ K$ v
the Board of Directors; * ~6 x5 `4 i& q! A; }6 _
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 E! W7 z8 H4 K, A% ?: H- h
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 Y9 C9 `7 E( \1 X1 cenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
, ?/ v9 W$ H( e7 i' r• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and . M( p% F* u7 `4 Q! N+ |! z
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
/ q& ?$ w0 L/ O! ?$ {4 _the board; 3 z8 c) I' ~9 w3 c( ] ?
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 4 l4 P3 @( S: O1 a% }9 \
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 9 i. H; l' `) d! l5 b
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 }( r' M/ i3 W& B, c• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ) X4 q1 b& W; J8 x
changing needs of the organization and community;
1 e! `% W% L! }' F• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ( ?6 O1 n1 a5 i( u p9 X
commitments; & P+ D u6 `3 @
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
" {! E) u1 z( f" B: @• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective , D5 `% ^/ Q* g' \9 _
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 0 L+ E8 [4 s" ^( e d
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
9 ~1 [ _" }, ]& r+ k1 _0 j$ Z• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
* ?, j* P* e" F! V; B! L$ Leffectively and positively represent the association; ) T- E+ q" M+ k( n

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 x& `) h( N" z' G0 ^4 ]
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
7 a5 U5 q" \# [: x, G. I% s7 P• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 X! V$ x$ w3 b
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 x p- h0 u! d7 F# _
the forthcoming year; & X$ M" ]6 H1 m& [: ^. z
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
4 M! B( p2 N6 u% x: O: z2 D/ x5 gpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
* w6 F# d' n1 z. gYWCA Canada; and v/ i5 |) z% p7 p
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
; a$ H- v1 ~' R$ D* V! _Forces.

• Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

Required Experience 3 x* f, s. _9 Q& i' {6 E0 `, {4 j, x
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; H' t8 C& c, x9 S0 \) g
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 9 |% R& H$ P+ z& S- M$ I
abilities;
/ p8 `$ T. o& e8 C: |1 u# U5 C• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
5 t! ]0 R! b& K PNetworking and Fundraising; 9 j+ m" X3 {0 _: Y/ D: c3 S
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
9 R" I" d- J. I4 ]2 Rand financial statements; and # F' i7 ?3 t# k% Y3 j
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
