this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
! F0 r! P4 z' c' MEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

execution of the YWCA Strategy

8 W& O X5 N7 Q2 J" Y6 S$ R• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
1 V# Y* {0 C' s! w. Dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by " W! T) t% T8 Y2 B E, X

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ }% p7 k6 `! G, cincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + N' A, V$ B X. `. D
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
. x T4 [ t9 O& P/ O) A• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
1 R* d. f4 |) B3 ]. u" M% Fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 3 A# R% l2 {$ B2 D
the board;
( M8 Z! L* `; L. r4 d• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
& I1 ]4 A5 q( y6 @5 w• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
) D2 ?/ |% E# w, j# A" Tthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; " Y, v# k2 H, a, V0 D6 E
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
7 y2 a4 [# L8 S5 N1 a* Q! Qchanging needs of the organization and community; , N- j; b1 J. C; I/ N4 F& @
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. N( B3 a$ n1 wcommitments;
* H9 ?% t9 @# t2 M7 c/ ^# j• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 6 U0 a) o: y' T6 w+ M
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
( K- d0 ~& x6 i- s: Yselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
0 n6 G. @0 P: a8 y# G5 j• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
% J" c* G# L5 u: V; @# n• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 4 o9 l0 x/ t5 G0 C8 x
effectively and positively represent the association;

% l# o( ?8 ]) |$ D* M; ^2 G: w• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
- o7 U8 g4 s9 X ^the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 g& S$ |! n) f• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 c6 ^! {! q& p, T {2 a
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED # o. m, W* h- C2 r
the forthcoming year;
/ c4 y6 p2 d# l% l; u$ c8 d# T• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
0 j2 m. V J1 B9 e1 \# G8 f2 d) K2 Vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 1 F* T, J( y& n5 d1 d6 }! `
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
% d6 c n% c& b' Z' ?• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. / s, r% v- C; V
5 U( D7 P8 q) @Required Experience
, f7 x1 z, Q) \5 j @) W* _2 s• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 6 f; ] @+ q- a% B
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 O, e" [' }6 w2 \
abilities;
- G+ a( Y, X& `4 W% y6 X• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, s. B; F, |: V7 ~1 f8 }
Networking and Fundraising;
& [5 {( _9 }$ v& u2 a$ Y; o+ F @• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
