The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

. S% a0 J2 w1 e  f0 bthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA ' p3 r4 i' m3 R  q6 W; R
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

8 E. {: x# v" q5 rReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and % {4 K: M5 A5 ]( e0 e
execution of the YWCA Strategy % P! R: t, ?7 }! a% u, j5 e: ^

1 A; l, ]1 P5 |. l& SSpecific responsibilities include:  
& w9 N- [+ {* {  G" K9 }2 c
, J- R2 h: H7 g" V) Z, L•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
6 Z( g% |& I7 @# g. r7 Nthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# @0 G0 e' ?7 \5 Z# \  g# E. lthe Board of Directors;  
* U/ ]4 p- \1 R5 e& }. @•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* \( \/ d& D  i0 s" b* Zincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& V+ r  K3 x/ T. [; penable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
# u- j5 V- ]6 |+ X1 F' T4 F•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
8 j% b) D% C! h0 z. tobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
& L+ @  _6 _1 R3 othe board;  
- i6 z" q7 N6 Q•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  / r3 B9 @9 j5 `/ }
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) i; n& Y' ?* E5 G2 ~
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 0 o4 F& y: r$ h$ Q. Y
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% ~4 |8 Q1 n: k! B5 ychanging needs of the organization and community;
' n* S0 a: _" H) r•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % w3 I, O7 f% V! l" O& w8 k5 ?
commitments; & B. P- ~: r( A
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;    ~' X4 m: p& a7 n
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + p& G2 P/ l/ z! _1 [
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
$ Z$ N+ s( w1 C* O( y2 |! B# z•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
0 e1 M' A5 _- A, y# F0 ^, T•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# i. V* a' \9 G" l, }' G4 ^0 {effectively and positively represent the association; & e6 V8 v0 }8 k- M

$ L! C( X2 p# ^•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
3 T# M5 d8 B+ ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  8 P- e+ y  T( K* @4 \3 X
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 ^8 f  \* y- _
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ' D9 `. t8 L0 W  J5 l9 h& g
the forthcoming year;  $ C9 N) l2 h6 l8 Q; Z5 W4 o
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
( \$ k3 E; P" m  o: Ppractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
- N: M  X7 o  Z4 V4 vYWCA Canada; and : V2 {* W: X, `
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 0 q2 }: Z6 l' Q% c, t$ q0 D

Required Skills & Abilities
8 t  G' ~' b7 F/ O" N+ e1 o0 w$ H9 c•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; ' b! D  S2 ]' r' p6 q' c
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 8 M# E* _$ a; M+ L
around decisions, plans and actions;
5 K! t  k% y' p. L$ p9 [•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; % A+ j* o  L$ y( E
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
6 d3 S( y* M3 a1 V3 fand achievable with realistic timeframes;
& \% u2 h" [$ P+ J' c8 J•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
0 _, C7 K3 I' q- hsimultaneously;
8 n9 _0 ^4 _+ v/ d1 N/ K' {•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
% I, E; d( Q3 A( _3 q9 Erapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; - R4 a' L" D9 F# _5 a3 j( m2 Y
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 3 o. o1 j' F. Y7 X0 H/ j
•  Superior negotiation skills. : v0 X* k6 t' w& W* R7 b

+ x0 u5 x9 u* ^% e5 a) h( ~# Y•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
) f9 N! T1 U7 L2 J; ]
5 R! H; }3 @1 L' o7 I- uRequired Experience + |$ ]: w$ L# b( E5 R* N
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, Z: ?- B- a# C•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
) h( }0 t4 |7 z9 xabilities;
' a2 V* O$ ?) v3 s' t( D" u" N•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, & _* T, q' e  Z! o! ~6 M
Networking and Fundraising;
% {* t$ U; B- f: ?% ?•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
0 `% B& A' Y: G' \9 [+ Pand financial statements; and % D, E. r. a( q" l
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
