this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
" V0 v$ p+ @1 PEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and - i0 a# t9 a$ z& c( ]! c
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities
+ q) S0 @: A7 [) ^3 d! a4 _1 q
* I* b" o* z6 CReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and : P" d5 i0 I& |4 p( c
execution of the YWCA Strategy
4 V; S7 f1 B7 \3 N& P : c! q  f( m7 |# O& T6 H9 Y
Specific responsibilities include:  
/ s0 b2 X, F$ z9 k2 s# @: E ! ]. D7 D6 ?' c1 y* r. u
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 j$ E# c" Z' a6 {0 i' Dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
( V- T! e5 R' ~4 kthe Board of Directors;  % l, A+ `. s( N! x- G
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 c  D( A$ U2 b- }* J* j
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
  B% e' `+ g4 y# Y- ?enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; * b8 t# W  J" |$ G5 R
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : B! R4 e2 N/ K* {/ q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 L7 N" A1 I; B
the board;  % y+ c  F# P' R( \
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
( m/ o1 B) f$ E) m5 u' L& V•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * C% R* r* E5 s/ t$ `* g
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 W. u0 H; s7 X•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 N3 a/ h0 F0 g5 F+ K1 L# qchanging needs of the organization and community;
5 z/ S9 y3 }! Q8 Q•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- t) o! z' B3 G) w3 H2 Acommitments;
+ v8 ^" k& u6 x3 k; Q•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  + e% E! M$ d& V6 V4 I; D2 N) {& r
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : w( \  _# L/ ]4 B- B- \
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
5 a/ x2 r- e: }$ `7 J•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; . S  _1 |7 }0 A; k1 m
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 G6 O; j& W) b( A! K' r
effectively and positively represent the association;

4 c# u" j- `. S9 v+ }5 `' W•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring - f9 B. A. v% K, O3 |$ C
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  ) \; h- b/ E8 N. d
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 9 J5 o( C  w! W9 d0 j9 c2 s
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ' ?; o  O4 h5 P; d, U, J
the forthcoming year;  , h# h& y8 T& H. E) R1 Y
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical $ H- I7 D9 V. S7 v/ @. h& f
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! H$ I* ?" f6 C: u* V5 z! S- p+ f1 F
YWCA Canada; and
2 y( `$ ]; }, }/ k9 M•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ) T- r6 Y6 K7 ~3 k

9 \+ @8 G" n5 t* r•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; / S4 J# B' a7 Q+ r
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
1 Q8 s7 z( e9 E: I/ R' Earound decisions, plans and actions;
$ Z/ G5 C: o- S•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
( c6 n  y" C3 H; r8 P/ o1 u4 |•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable - x* R; O- Y$ H# C4 |, s6 L/ }
and achievable with realistic timeframes; . w4 Y  n$ l2 Y8 q5 _  F
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks . \! X: q! i! }9 Y/ J: j" G2 Y
simultaneously;   H& X& U3 \# B# [) D
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
9 ^& _1 f6 O4 _1 ?3 \rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; / z) H2 V' o/ _% D; g
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 7 N8 q) m0 W7 d
•  Superior negotiation skills.

; F" K  p! j/ O  U" }1 q  _+ A  a1 L Required Professional Designation / Certification
, h) w3 a4 G' w, l% G•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. $ h2 s2 _. a& f- ]3 K9 o

/ L( I" }. A7 Q) {! sRequired Experience ; q$ w# w# n+ T# |
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
" f. D3 c) C$ Z6 J•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
: e4 |. ?; _4 [9 G, F9 e% A6 K4 P5 Babilities;   q$ N  u$ g. x# A1 O8 B: G
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
8 F+ R# W' {! w3 M9 ?2 dNetworking and Fundraising; * O5 `2 K5 f5 B% S( m
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting * V3 ~2 y" U" s% t/ |
and financial statements; and , ]9 J3 ~3 F: P' T6 y7 `
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women - z5 q& h, `! m: N
centered perspective. 5 d/ v( @* y: y( W. |( ~
