" h6 a+ S1 a9 ]( E, o$ M, Tthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
  A' F7 ^  z6 S& B6 S: T& fEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 4 I! T9 `* g0 m* c- q
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA 6 L- O) Q4 K% N0 [' r# z
Edmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% P$ G, S$ I$ g* q# nexecution of the YWCA Strategy ; u- S7 a9 @0 g5 u( z. ^( X) z

; T# T; Z) ^. TSpecific responsibilities include:  + G/ B# c. D' \) ~

2 I/ d9 A" b5 l& }2 Z. T3 H•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of . B' q8 U9 a/ B& o/ {9 ]$ d/ P
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
! z" Y3 F9 e6 ~, t  `2 l7 D# t0 i  xthe Board of Directors;  
6 Z! z0 j, D! ]8 F! g+ W& O+ [' r•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
  F# u; U, D, r( Cincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 9 _* P9 }' K, F
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; + b+ F, q9 f  W% L
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' ]7 V9 m" b# H$ @- ~1 q2 Mobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 L, @/ P# i. \! v' @
the board;  ! J/ p/ f) p! V9 M
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  1 q" L) k) m( c0 G+ p4 Q
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * G8 |- J! Q6 R3 L6 f+ t
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
2 L, L( D: b- ?7 F* d! I8 j* S$ m•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
# E6 e3 i1 Y  ~, t" S* @, Z* p0 Achanging needs of the organization and community;
; G# s. D; ]1 |: i0 o' c•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : R: K6 m9 \$ z+ h) H: v  f
commitments; / R$ Z* n; [( a
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  : y4 T, V5 _2 b: P: B# b3 s! q
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective * {1 A; q6 f5 s
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
) w, u: [; ]/ \- g4 {6 i•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; # D0 n' t, K- l1 j/ ^8 s
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
" r: u+ Q- h: leffectively and positively represent the association; 6 d0 n1 R" ^6 S- z* x9 u
! n  ]% O  R" @- {9 M0 p6 Y
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 1 W7 w1 I) Y/ p
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
$ f- f" K' }( L  O& u•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
; `4 V! @0 g& ~, yperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! k4 M' t# |7 [: wthe forthcoming year;  
; m' r, Q! k9 o* X( }$ O& T, @•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical - v% C+ h  T) }" O9 E* q  z
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ' `1 t! b7 _: d
YWCA Canada; and
8 D! g6 }( ?& y/ X•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 2 a. o8 C  E$ ]3 y- M' j( m
Forces.

' [' \+ o& D2 `8 MRequired Skills & Abilities
! ]4 V9 @* S7 O7 _8 _  g$ w( M•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
+ V9 e; z( E- D- G. u% K$ l•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 7 V7 h5 c0 l: j, ]
around decisions, plans and actions; + o& v0 `+ G' j; h- P+ K4 k- d1 t
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; ( L6 R$ X5 Y" G# K1 S  a( s3 u
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 4 t8 C  J3 L  R, V& O4 V3 o
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
0 [) v6 ^; b. Q. b, V- V  _( l( m•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
- }! n/ p4 \. I" V1 q% Tsimultaneously;
1 u6 q5 V7 M: C/ u+ e! I1 Z•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
3 @5 A- ]6 ?& m! Q/ brapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
3 k) K: c5 N$ N# m•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 8 R: f( x+ Q0 w: X% n( ~
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification # t, b" }$ T2 z7 h
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
5 ]6 w  K6 C6 |1 N/ Z+ L , R7 z" ~7 ~) h9 q4 k
Required Experience 9 S) Z8 l/ n" Z
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, \8 D* `4 u, L- w) n" V4 q•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
5 X! A( ^' Z. O( {+ m$ A* xabilities;
2 h8 A4 `1 G' }- C( ]7 `5 m•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 9 j% B! F: L9 o3 d
Networking and Fundraising;
* s6 p" w4 t( z7 }" b& C* H•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
4 i' K( ]* [3 x% N1 U& _+ Mand financial statements; and
9 }5 t$ w' W9 N; J- v+ c, v•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
9 {3 ?& v+ i/ `& g0 n( y, |centered perspective.
