The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic 7 T: C% D) @- a1 [  p

this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
7 Z' P# G: Z$ `. X0 `  l# |Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

) V% ?- S; T8 a. H9 B' dReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
6 i" x% f; s; W7 T3 F" L, H  Zexecution of the YWCA Strategy ' ?) V% k/ K) j

9 u) {. v3 l# k/ q5 pSpecific responsibilities include:  
8 c/ d9 i4 T5 f$ N5 C: j% c+ {( e
5 B1 B6 N: R+ E& a. u* q5 K5 A•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 8 l& F4 k9 m3 Z" ]0 B/ j
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
: J& Q9 t: {5 {  U9 zthe Board of Directors;  , k3 q, o* g+ g$ N/ v* |
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 ]. S6 X$ ~. y4 |
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 P3 o' j& ^  Z' _* V- V
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; : V5 K( ~, A" }& |) ?( Z
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 V& |5 b  a2 V3 U
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ( e; W0 ]6 h6 Z/ r! r: O
the board;  . ^& `' @: ^+ z0 N
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
" z" C; Y) f* Y  ]& I- I6 w  z$ v•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
0 K/ @1 V2 i! k: G( l4 q3 q/ n5 Bthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
- ^2 y: ]; e3 r, N  H: ~•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ) _) Z9 |4 p9 o2 M. s$ c
changing needs of the organization and community;
, \% w: S2 O- Z2 W2 f# Z+ n•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue   p1 P/ \, q8 N( }
commitments;
. W" l6 n! X: B•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ) e2 w2 I+ \: C( F: c0 ?; d8 A
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
# j8 |" C. ]' t6 Q5 W3 Oselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  9 e$ S- I  N, r" N  Q: A
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
/ [' z5 j; Z! A: z) v•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
2 d) k0 s  O9 i0 b! m' p: eeffectively and positively represent the association;
9 f8 S5 W% p- e/ g$ t5 t& _8 C7 H# [" v& {& c7 v
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 _! q$ W* E  E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
3 C7 K7 |" ?# c2 }, F( ^) ?•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal   w+ J" V: k/ [- _& A% z& r6 K
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 j1 W5 R) P* b, j" V1 R* m
the forthcoming year;  
, o; d& X/ F+ l3 z" s+ e/ a/ ~•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ; ~( s& \7 Q  U1 G# H) L
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / F0 Y' w* a1 m( t6 E# I  I  J  U
YWCA Canada; and
. @9 n9 `: y6 r1 x+ A& q•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ) E6 f- x0 [0 W8 K

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 5 Q8 F0 }7 q5 f) r
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus

5 w, W& I6 q7 D( G3 O•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;   \. [0 C8 ^8 z( f2 H
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable , _( V& g# E% u8 D9 n/ s
and achievable with realistic timeframes; ! ?) p. K( ^% M5 s8 i
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
' w& W4 |& i; Y) q0 Q. p5 Ssimultaneously; 6 P% i6 R& V- \& A% j; J
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
9 A5 X& }0 X  t) nrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 7 o6 K5 I8 I( }9 d$ l; P/ z( [2 N, U
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and   s' O- i/ X5 d+ [7 S1 F

Required Professional Designation / Certification
' r* l9 V- H4 u% _* }2 I: U•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : J+ K) O, Y4 u
9 n+ E7 r3 T( O  L7 B' h
Required Experience / E8 d* c$ t: t1 W& q0 x; C
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
& _  L' O. K2 V, M+ M9 t•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
2 t5 M: x* x2 p5 T( u; ]abilities;
& |) N$ ^" U+ E3 f2 e•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, / y: d  E+ _* F  _& B: t
Networking and Fundraising;
/ }+ }, M" K3 [' z4 s& [; ?•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 2 p. O8 Y) E/ P9 s4 l) J# @
and financial statements; and ! f  W# s7 B3 F, N4 F# @: @
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
