this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 8 g$ C$ a: y$ _+ ~- B
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 9 O7 T- P! \. O4 b
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA ' @  b1 i7 x# f- p& x0 c. J

Responsibilities
' `" a) x- m9 F; f! B 1 r3 X/ B( [* @) z8 c
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
3 {- b; v8 N% p6 B8 z: [6 qexecution of the YWCA Strategy
/ T% p0 h) h! E) w9 H' g
- E1 @8 z$ l  y3 p3 xSpecific responsibilities include:  
4 w6 ?" [! _9 o# f
2 n. ?) j1 k+ C( x. z" o•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
0 K7 K& V, s+ w; r2 V8 h3 [the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ) n1 \# z1 l& j* k3 S
the Board of Directors;  
8 y: _& W4 f; D  F6 ]•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , N' _! |! d; L& `
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 n+ ]  m" d$ @enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
; P! d% [* }1 I•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ w; S% a; U  n5 uobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 p3 _1 y/ E: G3 N$ n9 l- Y
the board;  
5 @* E2 H  j3 k8 R3 W' u3 l1 c•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
2 {& P  i1 P& [- J) `$ e•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ( R! `% K( o/ t+ ]6 \/ F
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 @0 v- u0 u. `! E* p
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 3 a  J5 b- H( G$ f
changing needs of the organization and community;
* \0 D! u3 e0 s( _. d•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
+ R* {0 `7 }- k7 zcommitments;
+ l5 c9 y' U4 W( X& I•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
( E) M! }, p; ^" S8 n! B* e•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
7 S  i4 j: m! O# q: Eselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  . Z2 X8 j4 f, m! U" f3 S
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( O6 [0 K/ c; j1 U0 x
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
) Y. T- U) [, A2 h4 e. w! y: Teffectively and positively represent the association; ) [1 v. w$ @8 S9 _+ B0 f$ l6 \
4 f0 b1 E+ y- S, ^* t8 A4 Q
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring $ G, ^% K% O) P+ b4 l5 j, u& ^4 E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
9 l$ Q2 e! l! P* R" n•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
4 X( ~, H' V+ {" J) `( operformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
7 T- c; t/ T% E! m: uthe forthcoming year;  
$ E3 @* J/ T5 D2 G% |/ T$ T•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 5 `( L( ]" T  Q
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of % }4 m' q9 L5 {) v6 P
YWCA Canada; and
  [3 w$ u% B* {' v•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 2 E9 G/ g; G& _; J7 j- s; k/ P5 O

Required Skills & Abilities
1 z0 S) W) _, u7 x  b. M+ m•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
+ z( E6 T8 s$ \  l; e7 Y, Y•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus ( B1 ^9 e" g* p5 z/ l. Z: Q
around decisions, plans and actions;
7 O! S4 u( U, _9 H9 Z0 b- E* B•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 0 ]- M0 p( I' l. [  a
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 2 `# \& k& m1 F4 w; N1 o
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
& X( y9 H( R  [0 E% l•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks % h) e7 X. x9 s4 i8 F7 v9 X
simultaneously;
8 ^. Q. m' n, Q' r•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 5 ~3 S7 U. _& B7 l- s2 l( y# x
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; + o5 ?+ s$ X) G3 n
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and   ~3 L2 e0 t  G8 r  L
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification + s# ~) y" n6 [8 }! ~
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
# U* y8 r: E  n& V% F7 V$ G0 i
+ Z$ F- h3 g/ z/ L8 ]) ~) |- ERequired Experience 9 P5 g$ H5 |9 G
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 2 S9 I( N2 H7 ~( n( M
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! ?6 i) L& Z6 o5 r$ ?0 G; D& l, ?2 |
abilities;
9 O* I: K, J& I6 |' p/ q# K•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,   J+ `- S, U; l" s0 v% c
Networking and Fundraising;
