innovative and dedicated Executive Director to join our team.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
* ?$ M+ B$ N: E" Q/ k# `% nexecution of the YWCA Strategy
4 H3 \/ Y2 T! _% w : g5 l& h4 r: ]" R! t5 a* A
Specific responsibilities include:  
% J' r$ l! V4 n7 [0 o# L2 i  ~3 T 7 H3 a: d& L# A. V, c! w
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
( w2 E1 n' F. s7 jthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
- X1 U" |/ V6 h% P4 n* Gthe Board of Directors;    E  {% B/ M8 @# M  u$ A
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , R& H7 q: O1 F
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
8 Z( h$ @- W; u$ H+ ]; yenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 2 o/ P: d8 G" x% W( j0 x5 b
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ! e& }" a' f6 G$ {
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ( g' z# S- u$ t! _9 M- D
the board;  
" U5 r" |, e# S5 D/ C•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  4 v3 p! y) H, L, w2 x, Z
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 6 e8 F5 O" r- M# }, @/ y* S
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ) S9 M5 x* z. C, |; R( I# g
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; P1 W; z3 ~, L% A/ S
changing needs of the organization and community;
" J2 i" l6 X! g2 Y* P1 m0 t# S•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * d8 Z( x2 {) \2 ~2 X( Q9 r$ T
commitments;
' j! o, G& y: o: I•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ) |7 O: I# `+ {8 M9 R% S( N
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, G8 g3 L( w) }' }& K  aselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  * a. g& I4 n5 L0 w- N* D
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
# R' r. [- h* x3 O•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to : E4 x% k1 f2 {, r% I
effectively and positively represent the association; 9 r9 W! H% U1 y7 K% N
5 p! o- V9 D8 T0 x
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. M/ p  H8 Q( D/ U8 ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
3 R/ u" p' G' c% r& x•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
2 i5 l3 k/ O" p( ?# F: [performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 9 |) M# p1 P( S  H
the forthcoming year;  : A& v9 s1 C5 q
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- J, ]' x1 }; i4 Bpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of $ V. q3 d0 y) X, ^9 d4 `6 E: G- g
YWCA Canada; and
5 x7 a  Y. Y8 o7 w* k8 B•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
3 f0 v( D2 U& k+ @9 m  h4 ZForces.

Required Skills & Abilities 1 O4 J- V' T) z/ x1 I: ]5 b( Y/ n
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
5 d; }* D* z. q$ l& L•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
" w% t; e7 x& F# R4 i( |around decisions, plans and actions;
9 j" I3 Z, ?% W. D3 j•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; * [3 ?! e. v2 j
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable * u) A7 I& ^% H* {
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 6 l# P5 ^, A& w/ P
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 4 C" r4 R# W# o3 P
simultaneously;
0 x. t- o  k& {1 a•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
9 n% s# h( k* r4 Rrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; , J  ~- f; W' K
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
& d% U8 p- n0 X/ ~' S# U* s•  Superior negotiation skills.

5 D6 s. U/ o2 D9 h. P9 e9 H Required Professional Designation / Certification
9 w6 h# c) X! h; `6 D1 g•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

& S. y7 w  m& D2 L6 H4 r! d6 l* b5 iRequired Experience
( I; D7 b8 x% ^! b4 H•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
0 o% k6 l* A. [. P5 ^•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 2 z( ~: h& a2 w' Z
abilities; / ^7 r/ b$ z; b; L8 ]; `; c
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : W! O9 i" L2 t1 m
Networking and Fundraising;
- C3 c* i2 E5 P) ?2 O5 j- a0 f•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting   C% s$ q$ L, P8 v
and financial statements; and 4 Q, f% R% I, s" L3 m) J6 W9 i
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
7 ?, l& X0 \8 v0 j6 r, v9 Ucentered perspective.
