Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & I4 m( l( k# U* j/ {, @
execution of the YWCA Strategy * }4 u- l6 H. y4 y3 w+ S' a6 z1 K
B0 j) J" K! \3 \2 ISpecific responsibilities include: 6 }# D* n5 s: u7 R! G

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
8 n. X) t. G8 d! i- C1 _! p5 T, ]the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 H* y9 {2 j3 t- wthe Board of Directors;
5 s6 n' B7 J# ^6 Q) H3 W• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 9 o; R" K" I7 u' t6 ?+ G' e* |2 m, K
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& {& E- S# y2 R$ uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; . {! _. l# p+ L+ d' }. U! q
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ R( V {' g- U$ K6 f$ |! ?5 t
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ s* X, {2 q( u! Y1 J. V" ?0 ^
the board; ( {* K% R: i$ `& @) P" K- O7 _
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( Y6 n* z8 a: T" p9 d
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion % ~0 X3 ?) F5 f* e ^* r
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 k& S! T9 @1 F
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ( ^7 L% @! l/ K7 E+ h1 L
changing needs of the organization and community;
, g a. h0 K! o1 J, e8 m• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 1 h, m, m i, D
commitments;
U+ r# k9 T0 G/ w• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
A& f' V7 c4 f$ i5 J• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 9 ?' Y- V& u6 b4 ~
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ~% e4 |7 x* w. Y
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

effectively and positively represent the association;

/ b2 L) A1 \4 u& _# S; K• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal \ K# [, f+ x/ b* @
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 5 ~) T' y2 m3 m) d) } O+ ]
the forthcoming year; o5 y9 w% e/ N8 s( Z7 l! o& @' y
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
7 K0 }# P6 R; Y9 c( Jpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 8 d5 ?/ }: B, @1 z
YWCA Canada; and D4 J8 C) ]5 q& N; X
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! F# q- Q/ o0 ~9 F" g r

Required Professional Designation / Certification
+ m4 N) |+ m3 x& ` y• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ' e, j( ~1 @, X4 ?; R
5 u, V9 H2 C! URequired Experience
* B! S+ R% b2 R/ p' }• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
3 ^8 r' C6 G& W+ a2 K• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
7 @, f# T2 L& [% O+ @5 {6 D* l9 w9 uabilities;
2 w9 v( Q* [# D: q• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting - E, x( T p$ Z3 w5 }9 R
