The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

execution of the YWCA Strategy 2 [; ~: w& |1 k5 k3 |9 B+ ^

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 6 I+ W7 |, A D5 s
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & K! k' ?8 l& S9 {
the Board of Directors;
# p$ A, o' c6 a9 x; l8 ]• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations h1 S7 m; R, Y
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 7 F) ?7 [6 F' e5 |7 x4 [4 ^ A
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
$ n- P) O5 g9 N' d8 G• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 0 l) v1 U! g' J
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by % [+ W# F( k# j) |4 h& P; t
the board;
$ J1 e* Q X$ Q: f) V! S: X1 `• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; : w. C- m& R8 O+ @. H; U% k
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 s- d+ h2 {* v& `" Z$ H `1 D
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; , d5 ^) q4 s) n" M8 z- A4 o2 A: M
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

8 n8 D2 E7 ?% R' w3 Y, O9 u• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 5 a3 q9 f2 b1 d
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) [2 U8 m5 F7 m( y* M7 b& z
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
! x( O; E1 N1 z7 t• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 Z7 C- B( O0 S! q
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; * v2 X* y: r6 c0 m! {2 [
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- Y( `1 l ?% E9 g5 ~( o- t/ zperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 6 v8 v v, y, x# [9 V) ^
the forthcoming year; . W7 z* M& P. L# a; d
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
0 z0 H f: X. p& V9 `( U% G( c% |practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 5 o9 v0 A& _6 K) ?! D+ T% a# M2 Q
YWCA Canada; and
. V% ?5 I3 e" p( _• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ' a( E1 Y3 D/ d0 u/ i" d
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( d- B3 i! w( t5 n% c2 x4 J3 z0 s9 cabilities; d- z1 I# y! x1 E# p
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 a, ^5 a% _- d' g2 `Networking and Fundraising; 7 c1 n" D, \/ o2 o
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 1 V6 y+ D6 L& o. F
and financial statements; and
