Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and " u/ q, Y; X' k, a% d5 i U) H8 ?
execution of the YWCA Strategy ) Y* T% Y; Y9 B Z) m9 }% j4 h
; f: ]5 v' n* @% Z8 KSpecific responsibilities include: # D) a- G- e+ e; p0 ]. R4 a* Y; A
2 `) W4 i% Q; `1 K" O0 Y• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 6 J0 i, l- }4 L+ T! a! N1 G9 F
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
8 n& d! P! ^. W0 qthe Board of Directors; o% Q& m1 G/ V- n& Z0 W
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 0 \& f- A! b1 y2 U
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to / [' j, U3 x5 t2 M9 [1 R
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
& _6 E; ~: W6 G( }4 [• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ i i9 v; ~' Zobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by # o! p: D! V: V
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion

' a& {9 | _$ s, O5 E* l( f1 u• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " d1 }; p; ]- s

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * d4 V% x! J% T
commitments;
( H+ ]! N$ B$ u& D- g• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; % F1 o9 q V; V
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 {9 Z/ D2 E: W/ t
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; " |; L5 _0 N, |
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( |$ { m' |) c# J3 l% A
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
: }9 K4 [- [, Peffectively and positively represent the association;

) ~3 B, l, v% V! _• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring # `! `4 m: Y: ], @. C
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
4 c) c; F1 p8 q/ e) z• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
) K5 o4 }4 u& n8 q# Bperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED # `4 q1 \# m9 l5 b5 B/ }. y
the forthcoming year; ! ]. l/ L; X1 k* v
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' A8 x6 v0 Y/ G! j
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 0 i7 Q8 j! u$ w1 f8 {. x T- j

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

; C% c2 x* d2 b" e7 M, @• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 r( X/ I: b" Z; U" D. K
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
* \$ \+ j* U, L5 e: r# x6 Oabilities; 9 E* x# I) t9 o3 f1 R! t6 _
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 z) J# j& E8 n& l2 P- _* MNetworking and Fundraising;
/ Y5 F {+ ^1 f l+ P5 g• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
