Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 2 w* t$ B+ S# D; u6 A2 k+ E

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
# o9 `2 r4 |. d( A/ w: w. J+ F( Kthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
% K d% t, @+ O9 J- P5 ~the Board of Directors; / i0 A7 {& c. j# D
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 L8 F. o% e/ B. Vincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
; ]! E! p% s; o( J+ Ienable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 5 \; c6 r9 g }
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
! N& R) j8 c" v+ I% xobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , ^; O: F. p5 _9 G; ?
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 0 q) d# M# p( |5 C6 M( N
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; / ^2 u0 A! g" E( u
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " n. e- \4 n# {
changing needs of the organization and community; 6 U5 O* ~ w7 I' ]+ N
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) j3 X C$ F% i* i& X" Y
commitments; , t7 t7 Z! X5 E4 z
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ! D+ Q8 n5 } @ a0 s) g9 e6 V
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective % D P" O& G' `% ~/ w
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; * ^" X1 p, \0 M$ D K# |
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; - ]! f6 k U+ B5 n# V# [# C2 h" U
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
4 o7 _: P; \; d* ^8 O! v) ieffectively and positively represent the association; 6 [% j1 b& O S, W
5 G" z$ v9 q9 r, ~* s7 G• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% D( A$ ^5 l5 t2 C6 fthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; , h/ N+ r2 n# S+ T+ a5 h/ |- A
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
4 e4 a9 G9 r) N& V* ^performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
; J! `! }5 [7 x6 ?( B& y& T; k% \the forthcoming year; , G6 j" Z) H5 z+ V
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' C4 U: k% D6 e7 c3 B% Q V9 s
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 W& G: O; `* rYWCA Canada; and
1 D! V6 h: n+ i3 C: p) I• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

/ C& N3 f% N/ O* h1 j6 Z% R- x• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. c% E u( C2 \7 j# D2 ~4 ?

Required Experience 1 T0 }4 Q+ ]: t3 c& e
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
T. Z' h: J6 r) r& i• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 L7 p7 m2 F7 G2 m2 N; a
