Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ' G! v/ l4 f1 ]' m l
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of * r' @8 ` X! N% c" V
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 h, [# x: g* u/ C, ~the Board of Directors; ! `1 }! }# G' L$ n
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
; R# Y/ M p) t, s4 f3 jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 6 C9 O! M; E8 S; t9 J. X4 N K# }# S
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; # x7 Z3 }" F7 p# M
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
& i# ^/ l A+ H+ eobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ a4 l$ E. Z! Z5 x: l4 ]" h! y
the board; , S3 m+ V8 b4 Z
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
: k" D6 w' V/ z• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
. l r7 Z$ r6 X5 R. o2 u6 w) ithe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ) v9 Y2 D3 m+ g! j
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
! n- y8 M5 n* u0 n$ Nchanging needs of the organization and community;
3 D0 a, r) {1 G- N) C• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 k4 z# ~) B+ \. u- t
commitments; - v: l6 A5 y3 c! f; i
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
% u/ W! c4 [$ x3 |) W; S1 x• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective , @8 x$ P7 t, E x+ J/ M) M9 {
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 4 J; [; C9 [" ^! S; D% U$ b
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
& F f4 [ L/ b/ r" i5 j* Y• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
4 f& R1 K2 l6 ~- @3 Y2 qeffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 R% x+ X* |7 T
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 4 q* T+ [2 u5 g6 \
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal # I# x) C3 Y# O' ~1 d0 L
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 1 F0 Q2 |4 |9 @2 T6 j
the forthcoming year; ( f% {# W8 ]6 U# M
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
# h5 V' w l, e/ o& Jpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
3 `+ O1 ]4 {0 H) a6 e7 sYWCA Canada; and ' p! E2 Y" N* g \; j8 e2 ]3 \1 ~2 p; X
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
2 f+ B/ ~0 L+ q% m5 Q2 CForces.

$ ]( N( q+ [5 S" _+ q• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 2 W1 R* ~) _$ X2 [* ]
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' j5 D+ B9 k# h1 b7 U. ?( _/ ~5 y
abilities;
% n1 t3 A) s d: R8 M+ i! n• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
! b( w8 W) Q" E3 kNetworking and Fundraising; 1 K* x7 K( o% {6 C. v
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting + g$ ?8 A, {# s$ d& o& t
and financial statements; and
2 v( y, q' P1 ?# J• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
