this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA ! H2 L3 s6 S- C$ f& S' N
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

3 a0 i1 v; n7 w/ OReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
# o# v1 N  b0 A. S1 K+ Dexecution of the YWCA Strategy 0 e8 l3 I: z* D' M
  I  ?$ _3 @6 J1 n" ]
Specific responsibilities include:  0 V* ]0 k6 _$ ]  ]0 m! [, e, A
+ U; Z$ B3 ]7 S. D* [
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' |' z; V1 [* y9 {( N
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 N/ p8 p, y8 H% j& C& D; Q% B
the Board of Directors;  * L7 l6 P% P/ \/ d
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
/ z4 [: x$ I. d4 \3 C9 k) e+ `including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
5 e6 D  \/ _" G- ]enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 4 _8 m& V$ N* h
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
- Z; R# D7 [- Z( W* ~- Hobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
( t( O' B* U3 o! Kthe board;  
; a% i' F; s0 q% C7 G* s: `, X) c•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
0 w, c& u- @6 {* F- c3 c•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ! y6 H6 f% O  {" c5 d
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 2 g8 R6 w- X( b4 U$ p
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; r- O) u) ?5 u7 V2 A7 Q% n. A
changing needs of the organization and community;
9 B. D' n9 `( _8 G7 y•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 9 Z" D6 J# C( Q3 l
commitments; # }4 }" D: T7 |) f$ ]3 ~
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
. Z2 b2 S& x7 ~•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
1 @- P( ^1 S1 I# b4 ]7 Xselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
. e: X* n4 c6 s2 u- |•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
. A' @& |; S+ ]/ A7 W, b•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
7 j; b+ R3 s; n7 d5 \* u  H( seffectively and positively represent the association;
, c/ q7 ]& u, S* M& V! W2 |3 p  F8 @- U! e7 y* o1 ^
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 5 q1 B4 i8 v9 F% n) f! t
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  , {5 @4 c( T0 g, h8 e! [
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 V6 Y/ R  E0 y: c6 N) Dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! q" o! k3 t; A9 P- Ythe forthcoming year;  
$ f3 _. t/ n8 z8 O2 d+ s! Y•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- [' Y0 v! G5 `5 Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
( G; v! P; Y2 H1 O  d: K) d: y& ]YWCA Canada; and 1 v& e2 O. p- V1 Y. w
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ' ?& D3 S9 E% q$ }2 a
Forces.  0 e: b! i% u' {9 ?
  & c' u! v: U% r! g4 N5 J/ z
Required Skills & Abilities 9 D/ K( Y& o2 W* M
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; - O" i5 s7 c" G4 c) v9 s/ S
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 1 v# Y1 u5 \1 a" @7 J1 |
around decisions, plans and actions;
1 y$ _  N8 T7 M5 K$ `0 ]( |•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
7 C. b  d: x6 ?3 y5 v$ x6 i( Y" p•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable * M# V* L9 s, l9 @) ?
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
* b- v1 R' c$ Z9 Y1 `•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
+ [4 R6 a- K8 Jsimultaneously;
5 |, {" L3 k. O. H4 j, C, m+ e$ R•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build , e- Y# \6 n3 y
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
. ~5 u9 D4 ^( d$ t•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
" V0 i( W8 t& a% ]4 P7 u•  Superior negotiation skills.

+ M# ^0 y" E5 W5 \# N2 W  A8 J Required Professional Designation / Certification
5 I  y& {) Y3 C0 P' n( `8 f% V•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
$ ]% b" O  @: E" D1 E # _' }" x1 r3 N& i9 R* b; Z
Required Experience , d8 E+ \  Z- H# o+ @
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
9 u9 j8 K5 J2 J/ H•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' S/ N/ `9 Y% Q' r9 r( h) i( {# Jabilities;
; C- s) F' V) z9 ^8 {•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
2 y, j3 j. j$ F5 f# Z$ [# E- }Networking and Fundraising;
8 P, O- @& H, G  P( x•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( q( ^$ h8 d+ Z: w# h: Aand financial statements; and 2 f5 k# j& j0 M# R7 p
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
- ^! X2 Z  \% t5 \- M4 Z7 {( Tcentered perspective.
