Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and , T$ C2 P% r2 h) q1 W/ p$ y! i! \% y5 S
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
! `* }( B+ b! ], U4 }the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by % y8 C! P* Q2 S
the Board of Directors;
" K7 |2 J5 A0 z: j• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations * E H E2 `, `: q9 s3 [5 P) r } ^/ a
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to , R5 a. U; `- R7 B3 n' q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ( G& E. g$ z8 y7 W
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
/ J* W( K/ S9 [& V$ A1 {0 E+ J; robjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
1 R7 G% H8 l" N8 O8 L0 i Lthe board; 3 z# [- ~. G% b. Z
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
! s3 ]+ W7 u5 M4 [+ W• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ; Q8 {! U- U' c4 A/ ~1 \/ p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
4 I0 T2 c- `9 c" N• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
5 C. }" @# n+ F" P( M. [4 F: ?changing needs of the organization and community;
. V) L$ C7 q% R' ^4 C: q• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % g3 c5 v9 _" y0 Y' J3 A

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 1 {3 z, E3 E8 H3 ?' C
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective R' a- s! k0 F, W8 e8 ~ I
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
! p, ~: ]. A7 T+ T) J) P4 c• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; . D! E! A% ?$ Z' k) G2 ]$ t8 \' _; e
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to & ]6 }0 n3 m/ N
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
* l4 T4 `, g# s' hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
3 w9 \' ?2 \/ q! R" X• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % U+ }( E1 [8 K# Q/ ]2 X
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
/ a; l$ | ^) B+ b/ c4 I! gthe forthcoming year;
4 `" N* ]0 q7 g. ~• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical R" ^. i5 t0 Z( I! o2 ~% C3 f. X6 y. V" a
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build

Required Professional Designation / Certification
2 n* C! \; U: o* ]: ?8 o• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

9 L" ~7 S6 }# \4 C• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% _2 m: `$ c A& s1 b+ n% E& ~• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 7 e9 ~. s. }" f7 a7 A# ?

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
& e* O }6 s( g( I. |: eNetworking and Fundraising; 8 h. _2 _& J8 Y7 \3 d) c/ s
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting + P* b9 W: T9 O5 W
and financial statements; and
