The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

1 G8 r$ {* s( zthis multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
( V. x D% s$ DEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and , a; v8 Z/ ?% u/ j- q

5 W" K) C7 z& VReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

& K* Z/ R( T7 A1 ~* K• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
; C% U1 p f* c5 athe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ) E( E4 ?0 L5 V5 N- T. D: j" |
the Board of Directors;
6 H$ {$ {4 D8 u: s/ X6 D• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 y% l- q5 b# F/ j0 v
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
o' Y( s% b4 x8 U! ?1 u" benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
" n% \7 J% `+ ~! n• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
& h1 [ F% ?7 T: w4 W1 Q/ S" tobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;

the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
+ S4 X6 l: Q5 _, s/ v8 i. n/ t• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 9 f, v# q z' x% @: g4 o
changing needs of the organization and community; " a7 a# t& y* A1 x
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue M7 C& ]% S5 m; j3 e
commitments; / k; K! ^6 L* V O
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
# V0 v* x6 y! W' \• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
& t: H1 j3 n6 ~selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
; }$ b* Y/ V( y' ~! l. g. w" }; T• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 1 D$ F* w' B( C
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to , G; x( m$ m3 Y& m
effectively and positively represent the association; % L+ G" e) g7 h# v$ r' N/ M
5 X5 w* G# p# u# D* ^• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
/ g5 Z1 v- p( m4 w, J$ F8 nthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 7 X+ c' B. i l; I: w" D
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal & V. {, j0 k' A# V+ Y
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
3 h& W, r3 X& `* s" l! A) {; Ppractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
( h$ {) Z) D6 i# m' RYWCA Canada; and
8 b2 b1 H5 ^6 _) @• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
+ e7 {5 M5 R6 v6 {Forces.

2 V- d! R7 u( k$ v• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. $ y5 R- l6 j" P' m
* q( ^3 N9 q0 d( sRequired Experience 4 Z& r( w+ N. V- d# r) q
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
* G; W8 L" A. g% B$ ` x: d3 y9 [• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 3 i7 B v3 D; B
abilities;
3 v& D9 G& z5 ] C• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 4 z4 M& ^9 s. `1 f4 N8 B$ M* a
Networking and Fundraising;
6 e/ b& b7 S4 \# l: V• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . g- s5 P8 q! f7 P8 [: R/ p* u
and financial statements; and
