The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and : _1 K0 x( @7 u! z. Q- G9 o! a3 l
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & k% ?% k+ ^# I f" K5 m9 K2 q: ~$ w
the Board of Directors; * Z7 v/ ^" [+ V
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 w& H% L1 O9 K. v1 H. R4 e) }
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + _8 J, Q/ _9 ^3 ^
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
/ n: R9 g3 {- [( L# K4 _• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
4 k! X+ P( y8 A$ A; {: x0 e* eobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 9 H( d7 P$ a6 N, `9 A7 _
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion & K$ O0 q! H* o! R$ ]; V2 Z7 }
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * h3 y9 H5 J3 a% ?/ N: g
commitments; 0 o: o% J3 Z, e& G( @% y6 r
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; . s% O/ z+ k8 _! \% I7 \/ f4 t
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" z5 Z' V% P& F4 Dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 1 D/ e1 k8 X1 y5 K- H
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

$ O) v" f9 Z- J• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 4 j. h8 a ~+ e2 I q# `
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 B" W5 `* m- p! S* ^/ x
the forthcoming year; ; r1 D& [% Y/ r" y2 U
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 7 @4 |1 N) O( s
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 2 O# c5 q# e3 z$ X
YWCA Canada; and
% g, {9 t' Z( J. W0 Q) W9 F" S* N• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
/ R$ t1 L9 u, p" | M9 k0 {0 x• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
# \, u* w& b8 K6 F# ~$ _8 `; x• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 c3 K/ \8 a5 d" ~! ?( p0 F: m
abilities; + ~3 v5 C4 e* U. x1 t
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ; L7 \; [' A& c) h4 ?
Networking and Fundraising; 0 B! I/ Y, P- q K5 i3 I: N* ?
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting + m* M2 o* t7 C
and financial statements; and
