/ n; u1 [3 j6 C8 B! e6 Tthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 4 l2 e; X  r0 E+ ]/ D- A
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and & C( c" l" h# {4 [1 u* {
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA
3 S* G' ?- w% A5 [3 oEdmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the 7 H' d! [: h6 a* R9 q

Responsibilities

6 P" J- N- ^8 M' dReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ( F6 t: q' i) K2 B
execution of the YWCA Strategy 9 V6 c1 a' z9 \/ u$ v$ k- f

* }% R1 x; u  h* }* b- @Specific responsibilities include:  
$ J6 A) ]) K( B& M2 w# @' z  a
/ N) e1 r7 V& H+ q& |5 Y& z•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of $ r& a0 P' E  Z' i, h
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by   p1 ^$ t' x1 L, @/ v% u& o9 W- Q  N
the Board of Directors;  
+ F4 K9 Z2 C! f* B4 H3 W•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations * ~- D. t% f( L- s/ m
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
/ [( i( _- ]$ \4 G1 h" Menable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! Z! ]: E! c* n1 l' e•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : w4 z/ z4 j/ a+ d
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; b5 ]7 _( I0 k! _& c- i! l
the board;  / a/ x' j6 n5 l) M: e- F
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  $ Y; z  K. n; E
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion : n% f. X" h+ F5 ~" p8 |
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
2 M1 c0 v' P& v: r, i4 a, |•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the   f, y) b/ T9 l6 \
changing needs of the organization and community;
" r) T* p. F3 i# B# A2 N$ i; d•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
2 T- u+ [( b3 P3 y+ O5 t$ ccommitments;
4 E! |, ]# K0 @3 K•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
7 B1 a! U- Z/ A# r•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* p2 s" y, b1 Qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  + A, z. {7 R: L$ q( V
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
: y1 g" ^. s. s  m- N" w8 h+ Y•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % U8 m! r8 h5 r
effectively and positively represent the association; $ Y8 _' ^. ?" G+ x/ K$ ^7 x

•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring % W& G1 }( F8 W+ S
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
6 i; `5 _$ R3 ^5 g•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 A# s/ q6 V: p2 Jperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) |  [" E" t/ N; R' A, U. X
the forthcoming year;  $ z: ?% ^! p# J" y/ o, u" E
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
2 [+ i# G* f5 h* F6 D4 W7 a, Lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 O8 }8 e# B% r- kYWCA Canada; and
/ y& m% T# Z" ]5 Z2 b  a•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task * ?  W9 M! ^9 z' y, k9 V

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
9 _  D' d) c3 \: b" F. T" d/ f•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
# c" V2 g2 h6 U9 u1 [around decisions, plans and actions;
* W1 g- `& J: u' X( p•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
* _5 M, h1 B& N3 C6 e•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable ; G' L/ K% K! E1 _9 X
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 8 A9 B5 I, G, X1 d) q  O
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
) I$ G$ q! T# Hsimultaneously;
4 s( l# f7 K4 u3 P' b, R$ h; y•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 6 e0 O5 c5 ~8 a. b
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; " s, D: P7 v$ p5 @9 f6 @% l$ H/ {
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
& T9 [% l& [# B; z0 A# M8 D7 c/ d+ U! u•  Superior negotiation skills.

  T0 |/ U/ P* [3 X# M' i0 u/ q Required Professional Designation / Certification ( ?+ K% W- e+ X& l" u) q3 Q1 |/ ^
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ( b; c- x; c$ J2 l7 O

* p+ ^' l5 X" L6 ^4 z( jRequired Experience & y1 Y% ?% F8 c: H7 L; c. S
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
" d9 G1 z; m: t7 W  q•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 ]0 s( e  s7 s- I' h: {- Z
abilities; / G, ]: B+ i7 ^' \* V6 W" C5 b! l
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 A8 }: |$ g. O9 H' T
Networking and Fundraising;
5 ?6 n' F. Y  I$ k& \+ o•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting " r, f. _/ }7 k, M$ m9 L
and financial statements; and 4 C- J. n0 U% G# y$ M
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
! d  r$ h; a- d2 A2 Z' tcentered perspective. 6 h3 w' H: ]5 n# N  o4 ]
