execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

7 O7 ?1 l1 e% x$ |6 J• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! Z! e& E r+ r- j+ R
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 5 b+ K4 n' l8 ]0 q% T
the Board of Directors;
, d' t7 U! D& m( u h9 o$ G% }3 }$ Q• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
' m% z- Z' g0 q4 B9 K, _including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
0 h a$ _' }. y3 m: |enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 0 @) \, n+ u+ R5 i
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 9 N( E# t+ Z$ s
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
B( L9 t- ?. t# R" k/ u1 Ythe board; K, i3 h+ _+ k4 U9 Z# k/ a; H
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; . A3 j; q* G1 Z
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 [' L q6 m' T1 B+ q% k
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: }0 s! E8 m$ u: k; S• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the $ }5 j9 E3 @% ]/ k5 {" J" L* Z
changing needs of the organization and community; 7 s% {; o6 c, S/ W7 L
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue d$ p8 c2 @% E9 z( R) n k
commitments; , p" }$ Z% w3 ^8 }- O% L/ H8 k
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ( w( ?2 V9 Y7 L+ @
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 @/ u) p \% `# }% Y0 f
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; & H. O0 v9 Z. D0 l
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ; h* {8 X- h. a) L$ k! l8 D" L
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 A O8 Z8 l+ a2 \, }& _' n
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / l0 ]3 d5 c) Y
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
. u/ }- }. L5 g• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 9 i& N* z, T. D9 g7 Q/ e% ^
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
* b/ [4 x8 N/ b" c+ pthe forthcoming year;
! p4 j6 f7 l6 k, y• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
# Z$ ]: L7 B1 @) spractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
0 s$ ?% a1 S$ iYWCA Canada; and
2 [8 h0 A D" Q7 c• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. % f9 d& l& [+ z
" f) m/ I2 k0 q& b I. B5 [Required Experience
* p4 c% N( K" n; @; D: v/ b• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( K- `/ b6 ` E5 ~3 `• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' ?% M" c' `+ R" Qabilities; & r( z" W, I. D" Q- c
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
- s, J4 U3 e" X3 z, [5 j+ Y) TNetworking and Fundraising; : J4 U; d! @1 y
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
. D" h8 r; D: s- h0 Gand financial statements; and
! |) x: t/ d% ?) t, I• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 2 G+ x; G0 m% @1 ?) }
centered perspective.
