Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' k9 v$ F5 [6 W7 M, {# ?; _; Q- Sthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
: z! R; S/ g2 _the Board of Directors; & ~, {4 t% ]. C+ |2 \6 i
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 1 O( Z* W% z" o- r* U
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
% v, Z; x. u: W$ P$ \" kenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; , Q; B. T" w6 ]
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
) ^. C0 U$ I ?' Eobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by # Q1 x3 r4 y$ C/ v1 m+ X, h
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 ^4 ]: ^0 O# v0 }9 B6 S
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; " `- x2 m$ v- e" g N' Y
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
" z' y+ X8 ` Y2 tchanging needs of the organization and community; 4 n# X n, s7 L6 _7 B$ T' ?
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
+ W9 ~5 I& H) P" g- bcommitments;
0 L" @6 x6 R1 _• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
S/ [6 m; Y+ ^7 I• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
1 [3 ~# T A1 m; z- y% v8 A! Eselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # H/ }6 V" t. A8 k/ W: j# L
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ' d4 i' c' J, [8 i
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to # N* {, f% L$ z( c H
effectively and positively represent the association; 5 X+ W* t9 C* ~) i, L* P% K, ~1 _

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring - A) [9 G8 Z; _! [: f
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
! A" N7 g4 v, ]+ g, @: g$ E6 ?• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , W5 _- ]7 ~6 N9 C: F/ {* I. i
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( w# t# E% \% D* Z" n5 [" B
the forthcoming year;
) [9 `1 m ^4 b) t• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: z u/ Q3 b, ]( h; G3 Ypractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of . F( K( j! R r1 q
YWCA Canada; and
! a: O3 o. e& z. P* J7 n; y1 G* \• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; " t7 I9 V _ }+ {
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation + h) e( ]; O: m+ G, ]
abilities; + ?: L) C, E6 i
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, - R$ g# H( Y1 j$ T; N" S2 b! c
Networking and Fundraising; % Z/ r: H w+ }3 {, j6 w
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 2 q. X- }/ `. K: W8 r
and financial statements; and
