this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
. H4 k; \' C3 Q* u) EEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

- N8 K6 Y: G! p: XReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
9 S" @' n1 p3 S0 _2 aexecution of the YWCA Strategy
/ k  j, j# M# I8 i9 o/ h( _ 5 G& i. B% S8 U" d+ v
Specific responsibilities include:  7 j3 l* {! J8 H0 g$ x$ {6 A& Z
4 Q, q8 [  |& g5 U& ~& W+ y
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 `5 S( \4 h! athe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
; i) b7 T0 l1 k. o9 O+ z# _the Board of Directors;  8 a0 H. b/ W* `2 M! r" y
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - L2 {% i# }  v6 l; v! f3 a
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
$ Y0 p  r8 |. U$ @: o6 {3 menable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- n5 b! t0 B: A! i& M& Z/ e•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and # c7 {) S. N, V3 N
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
4 P* \9 ], Q, f4 M$ }0 Tthe board;  ' D4 D6 `$ Z: w8 O
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
/ u# q9 j) E- c! {/ z2 C•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
/ v2 z" l( P) v1 Z5 P' P8 n& Fthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
- ^. v% I# r$ d2 }& L% D% d•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
; D% @! N& g* l, g6 hchanging needs of the organization and community;   X0 g" V; j$ Q$ k  Z
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
9 `6 m+ T1 s/ Acommitments; & J8 ], R' I4 x
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
  z* }2 H( {6 P* [1 y•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective , {: s, `  Z3 `
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
- t3 G' E5 }9 G% k•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 {3 a+ r& A5 A' T+ N* S1 l+ m# q
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
6 R3 }! x/ E1 ]' g  C0 a7 neffectively and positively represent the association; ) k. A- E- Z' \/ ^) G2 m: v! L+ j

8 S  }% S8 U6 p3 r& T•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ( h0 G" j* Y& Y2 D+ j1 Q/ c7 c' F
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
0 Z2 H2 ?$ ~8 c, w2 Y% V! w$ d•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
" M1 L: u* x+ d9 |# p0 @performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 7 a' S! B7 o# C& c
the forthcoming year;  
: l/ h+ |$ K$ s4 L8 @: s3 E•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
5 s- U* X" X' `. y/ v) U/ zpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 0 {6 a" g2 N0 {8 r5 k
YWCA Canada; and " J0 b/ Y* N  i& K) w: }: }
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 6 ?# t/ J& k$ o: b. f$ B" W0 W# n

, r& N$ O' k- k•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

" u. W0 W5 }# n" c. e8 V$ v•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
6 p3 m, L2 y6 _7 O1 ]0 `! F$ R•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
8 J1 Q3 v' f8 @" a# Nand achievable with realistic timeframes;
% j4 \/ T" h' ^8 l4 |•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks + \; G7 K+ z4 X4 j  V! C
simultaneously;

rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
" z% E* ~; r  n: U$ v+ ]•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
; h! s2 K; D, r * c% y/ ]3 r$ [3 F; U
Required Experience
6 C7 T9 n3 i# Q8 ~# }/ {•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
$ {6 g" k! ?9 f7 w$ Z1 Q•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
. X& E: D) r7 M! b, i1 r( W9 Gabilities;
9 {, R! ^+ u; h! z# u! Q0 m0 h) W•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : \  Y* o* H9 y+ z" I7 c6 I
Networking and Fundraising; - x! E" i; }; P" ]! t5 L$ f) _7 b" W
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 4 l3 m; i9 L1 L  d/ T
and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
