Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

) [0 J7 a' b0 y z1 E4 A+ U2 FSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ) P) u# a, i: \" c! V! M
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & r& h8 [4 E& ]: v
the Board of Directors;
: `6 M6 z, w$ G3 q! Z$ X) r9 ?• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 r- b4 B& E, ^" ]1 }
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to # B( o7 w) K3 c) X8 I+ D, \; g
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 j- B& {* m9 V" M• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" G0 A2 s- g/ v5 r3 t5 eobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

: v% X0 D. g# l5 S3 C• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
6 }* X. R- y4 W9 Y. W• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; v9 ]$ M8 k3 L' gthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 l& V9 Y/ Z1 D. q' X _! ?( t9 ~: c• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the % g) o5 z9 e+ f$ `4 x
changing needs of the organization and community; " ?/ f6 _0 e# B# D7 q
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
0 p& Z" ]/ F; P% W4 E" S9 I• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 7 g6 F9 F, l) l* M m R+ ? L
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ! K" M% V) ^+ @" r" B5 t c8 }
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
; A {' R) `* P9 r• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

8 ?: P/ ~. C. }• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
% x: j% ~/ {0 f/ n; Iperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
$ b* N6 H0 M5 q, w% P5 y# ithe forthcoming year;
; _ f& [* ]6 I2 U& M& j• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- v6 Q- p1 ^9 n: J0 c/ v- ]practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
: b8 e" N: O9 L0 W: C8 F0 ]YWCA Canada; and
j" C: H1 l, c' H: O+ [; M7 x• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

and achievable with realistic timeframes;

Required Experience
6 V; i% s' U5 v; \2 V9 i• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . L' X6 o* W( h3 `" ]/ l2 {5 h) F$ l
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ) f& V/ @5 T" N
abilities;
5 \7 t4 Y5 m' _2 [0 X: H$ Q• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
( F9 m6 O0 I9 W: N v& S w1 VNetworking and Fundraising;
+ ?& N& `3 [1 s# j# l9 n• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
. P0 _! L+ k# R( r! L0 [4 A& eand financial statements; and - V% L" X* K. d
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women s& H$ S' o" V( G- T$ h% e0 e
centered perspective.
