The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
+ r, c4 U" a6 q) n* KEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

8 `0 \+ J0 j4 L2 i4 U, j1 f• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% m1 {, b8 n- ]: ythe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 _2 O/ Q, T8 y# R! i4 Ithe Board of Directors;
; [6 Q5 M0 E9 f q• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
1 _+ Y7 S( ]% T6 L0 Wincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % }% _% J+ Y& r+ j, E' f5 [
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! L$ `$ p) }( N. |; O! K/ E• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 v8 ]+ K: u' W# p3 x: h0 I1 q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

) S% O) k$ x% {, S- O" t1 _• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
: M. O4 L2 x& C• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
6 x4 [5 H5 k8 P# ]( E+ d* f/ Kthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
5 S) t& [4 Z0 T, {1 i7 i0 V9 n• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

9 \5 O% D$ J' p# M2 ]# W$ R- j) p• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 A! A K4 L* a% S
commitments;
! p( J F7 \& O# P8 f! @, y/ j• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 9 M$ l2 x+ q4 U6 B" j
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
2 n4 d$ K9 d* }; e+ Y7 C1 rselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
3 k# `; h- q5 r" _6 B+ K• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( ~+ D. l0 h1 }1 a6 p
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) d$ U+ {% l8 M1 k: F
effectively and positively represent the association;

. W) ]1 X" z- b6 q• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 @8 u% C; v0 t4 F8 n/ E3 Wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ( U8 [- T$ M; H# C0 T- g
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. M. ?: N( \* ~$ a3 L* Yperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
: D& o% j$ e+ _: @& R6 v; zthe forthcoming year; , k7 z1 g4 E9 W5 t! f
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
6 }$ J& @( z. ]- M$ Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
/ n0 K |; p+ H0 b) qYWCA Canada; and $ W/ d/ h! l9 {4 h9 K
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
! @- r# \7 m ]6 G; @• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 6 V" O$ O$ y# z0 D( I. Y

Required Experience 1 _5 X/ b2 \6 w* Y5 B" c; [& \
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 `. c8 K' i4 b& I0 E- F2 v7 {• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

! U) G$ Y4 c4 h" K$ R• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ( W A- Z F0 \! L; J: ^! z- y
Networking and Fundraising;
