The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% \* V+ |, b5 w5 X$ ^execution of the YWCA Strategy % x8 T* l+ ?. N0 R% T* a( E# Z

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of & N! E! _. `# s4 R
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
! R6 A0 I# C4 G$ y4 w) c0 fthe Board of Directors;
) X1 V0 u; c6 k• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations $ v: i9 F8 I9 y- C" x" W
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
% d' P! T/ l% k1 A1 T2 B1 b; @enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; - r$ b9 T+ u) J* v
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
! J2 s7 ^& u, m0 p6 Yobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
" U; z" H! b6 R# g+ `& Ithe board;
" k$ o) m& _" J; z+ f+ }6 z• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
, _. O- T! R" k% V. {6 v• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
( Z( W8 m K, ]% v) o A! ?* [3 Rthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
6 q' t- M$ [7 y. w• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
1 p- t i, K- L) U! Ichanging needs of the organization and community; 8 [( W8 N: V3 ]* Z4 Y
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
* F! ?) }& ^1 D j& Vcommitments;
3 v- m1 \" [! Y/ a& T• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 a& Z) T+ w. E• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 A! _6 {' S9 D2 X. E
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ; {9 S7 y# P% [- t
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; k" c; |0 b/ P; j
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
1 u4 i- s) u; h, Ueffectively and positively represent the association;
" Z1 W, P* V2 K! Y* h( `1 V [ ~+ Q% p; c
• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& Y2 u1 R% H& H' c! W4 sthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
U; G% J# B+ |3 x• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal : x0 r. @. \* ` v" u5 Q) a& c# Y9 e
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 9 g" S, q3 e8 W
the forthcoming year;
! E0 c+ I9 {3 M% z1 o7 M3 `• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
/ _! q# a" U) k. a. n; ~$ k7 Rpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

( x$ h5 y- E1 h1 a( Z% a• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 J9 H2 u. J# e( U• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' ~4 J h( _1 x# x# Q4 u) e
abilities;
! x. N! d- m+ V7 }9 H3 \• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ) r. x2 v6 g, }# P4 Y
