The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and " t5 D% g# w+ e
execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 h& T% c; R( t w4 Othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
6 \: P8 {; o6 j$ u: v9 ^the Board of Directors;
" @% p( w9 y' J• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 9 ~- G9 T- l4 e4 ]
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ T# q" q9 _: U/ ^2 U* eenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 y) n3 I4 m6 N2 d' Q J• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and & H9 s- ~9 {1 m- _1 I# a
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 t! n9 Z1 _2 R

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ' I" r. k. [2 [& M5 J5 \
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) h- |& u/ Z4 t, a) H" ~) Z
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
0 u9 v# k0 G9 X7 Q/ u• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
& y5 }3 w$ L, |0 w! s0 |, ~changing needs of the organization and community; : K% Z4 ?, F4 r
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
& U9 }/ v* P3 w1 Zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; / S) l( [$ {3 E, K z+ C# ?3 E
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

* n& W3 I& e" P8 K1 q0 E7 h• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 j9 W( R' H# N
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
: u, t! \8 b0 i$ a: v# t/ K• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' b8 j& y$ X" n9 u. S
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 2 s S" [( C( |% D' K9 O
the forthcoming year; ! N9 g1 b5 d& Q
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical : E D6 D- m) o: c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of $ j% K q! O8 v" F1 y
YWCA Canada; and ! s( H1 w7 w- J" Y8 L m
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! E+ v: L- Z3 v, [% Q

Required Professional Designation / Certification . z, H$ p) T( J0 a; K
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

s; x8 X+ G C5 s9 U• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ) C' }: ^" V) }2 v$ X0 P
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
. p5 U9 t+ O( N# l! v, y4 \abilities; 9 J/ i( ]3 X, E, `' J U1 n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
1 ~% |( R4 t7 w2 rNetworking and Fundraising;
& }0 V5 e7 ~" v" B• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
