! T0 K& s* y0 aReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 7 H7 l' w5 `& w; F' z
execution of the YWCA Strategy ; h( h6 N3 D D$ ^& o
7 X. E9 M; `( Q* C# vSpecific responsibilities include: * G+ k- M$ ~5 e9 Y& p

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of , l d3 K5 L" B6 Z+ a' I0 d% ]% y
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
1 D9 `; b1 v) ]5 @# Uthe Board of Directors;
+ Q. h- J n. V6 g: q" E• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations . V5 a+ Q$ v( a$ Q7 p8 I
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
' I7 z2 I9 @5 e0 P' x2 menable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
. E+ `' L# V q R8 p L6 @• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 x+ b* m: W- W- E
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , S' L0 Q- T: [6 W0 C6 T$ u
the board;
* E& J$ H4 r" a5 ]7 g• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
5 f2 H0 a8 v- _' F' ?• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
9 J- }* H5 r6 i4 X1 gthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; $ J# v' P O/ _$ P; T! a
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the % h/ A& }' l1 f3 ] c& C! G
changing needs of the organization and community;
) c9 E* |6 b8 `% f• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 }8 Y* T" i6 x- S( Q* {, K2 h! o
commitments; # m- I; I' \( }6 H$ \$ T
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 9 H* t5 F$ o+ w8 }, ?2 i
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 7 ^" W @: A# i0 q7 u0 k) R
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; : ?/ E. g, Z3 @, S) R( p( U
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

8 P, T1 I# q0 N4 b9 Y& |) j• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
6 n! o$ S/ v+ z% ^" j) u2 t, |the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
6 Y$ J+ k* p; u, A/ y! ?• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 6 e( M c0 j" x2 M, T( t0 D4 p
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED . y6 I7 I) z8 F$ Y2 @
the forthcoming year;
; n$ t4 u$ J+ c8 D7 v K* u• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical . r2 f( m; ^7 R$ b; E+ y$ }7 H
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
! p1 W& S: d' `; E• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
) I' S6 ~: ~, H+ l# T; Jabilities; 3 O9 t2 y* @% G) A+ q7 C
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ! K( k( Q) p% ~$ d: n4 \
Networking and Fundraising;
* x2 Y5 a" z+ J3 t, g& J• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
1 E. ^+ y# F2 T' O+ Rand financial statements; and
