Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of , J& a: r* m1 N9 Q) w9 [3 p
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 {5 z/ A' w7 f* S6 k
the Board of Directors;
0 q5 ~" r1 B- |• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
7 E1 u% \2 D5 _' s$ y$ M, vincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
. R: R' X4 {( D+ c/ k' aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 1 x, f5 R$ A) x4 d$ o/ d
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
6 W! v. L4 {. l, hobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, P( k5 L3 p- A3 U8 Z/ Athe board;
6 w3 L- B) \- _2 `4 [ m5 {: Y• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
4 g. y. n( k3 v& }• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 \4 s) S! [7 Z
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
5 C% ^" x6 S! ^7 @1 O• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * L4 F6 M( \% F' i
changing needs of the organization and community; 9 U$ a, m+ J: L- b
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
3 s9 k0 e7 x% q3 `, S8 Qcommitments; 1 L2 r; s/ J. v
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
/ f4 r; E4 l; r8 ]• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) G3 f7 _, [* J# \& [selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
6 B! ?2 {( \# n, i K" Y7 S• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 ^! d# e) U4 ]: l( w
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 2 U* b# O; V2 U+ u, m }$ Y$ b
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring + o$ W' y8 C9 c
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 2 m$ t9 T& A! a; f* {' T7 u
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 7 }, B) G3 o( E2 r
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ' `& u! B4 X+ s% H0 d
the forthcoming year; " d3 r) D* C! L% c! f3 u
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # m5 p: o% [4 ?3 i: Z5 `8 m
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! |, O9 T2 o o: k, t0 a) [9 [
YWCA Canada; and 9 }9 z2 W! E6 W+ P' T+ U1 z1 n
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience _) d) e) Q9 r3 S$ C: H; \- A* V6 A& k
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
8 Q/ \2 o6 ?# _* o5 T/ k• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 7 ?( b- Y9 |2 R$ f0 _$ v( n
abilities;
* X8 H5 W& j+ \8 V. f: \9 B• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : O$ h8 M* x0 W0 u1 h
Networking and Fundraising;

and financial statements; and
