Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and % r8 i% t- n5 y7 ` g
execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 V9 ~! H+ C) \ M$ r' H) hthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
' F, s7 X! U# Sthe Board of Directors;
" W& l) M5 @; u+ C• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations : }5 d1 _3 J9 P* I, u1 \4 v) }* D
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 E: z" s( `3 ^/ l3 ^1 l3 ^2 Kenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
$ \; S" i4 ]2 A2 c• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' ], w! ]6 j' p2 R, x1 Cobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by + p2 T# s! C4 ?7 Y! L/ ?3 F5 u
the board; + Z4 n' ~0 m9 J* H( H$ c4 p0 W
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; $ |+ d$ M$ d; o6 Q2 G
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + T* p# D& S/ M% \) i9 } E3 {( _
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # i+ Z# P: K' T1 u, [* m
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 0 z& S0 Q6 u7 E
changing needs of the organization and community;
4 z$ N4 a' s3 @4 q0 P• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. S' i) n# c+ d& Vcommitments; " i9 ^4 P2 H# u
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
4 b# M% p" D+ X• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " U, h8 O. T5 v9 t/ U- c
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% }; x6 [5 H: f• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
, u$ p* I @ ^: N4 {3 v, k• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
. q5 G" r3 E4 L# `& [) oeffectively and positively represent the association;

. o' \$ T% l1 X, c3 z" x4 x• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& k& [, s# V( h4 s# c U/ h L7 {2 p* Kthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 0 G. j9 Y: j9 g# V1 ?+ v
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' y" k* C C# V7 D. E
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
4 S9 {# G. V( h7 xthe forthcoming year; ! v8 K/ U# j7 K9 d" c: ]
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
, ]" M; z, o. z# {& y$ j3 Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of , J+ J7 O7 I2 A, c
YWCA Canada; and

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 1 \+ j& S( j9 o5 U3 }
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : x0 ?6 j3 n! U! |; Q1 z* D% y) M

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, & } V) z4 z8 i( b' I* E6 G2 ~

and financial statements; and
