thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead
' k& H* f% S. y9 d5 m" I4 Athis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities
# c0 C, V& [6 w' f  B
* Z- I& w5 [# `2 U/ h# h0 _  IReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ) b- f2 I( k7 ^; S
execution of the YWCA Strategy 9 m8 _" `8 u. t& _9 J* D  I+ Q- u

' I  V+ c9 @, C2 iSpecific responsibilities include:  % W! ~1 H) w/ y% ~- N

8 R& n! [! f) K( m4 g& ]•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' y/ `8 f  T8 S0 o( s0 r4 ]
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
7 O, ^6 t# _( q" Lthe Board of Directors;  ) s3 H9 a  N/ _. C
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ l' ~  y3 o5 r' i4 `7 tincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + u- n% @0 m1 N2 _# |% C
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 9 H8 `: J% p2 X6 i9 w7 o% y
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 _" v1 }0 N1 R5 \/ B( i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 D  P5 `6 E0 X/ I- x  }9 E
the board;  ! ~! w$ j0 b) N" r
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  * h9 @/ R2 N/ L" I
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ C. c/ u1 E' v9 W4 }/ Ythe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # ~) ~/ f4 w7 a
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 1 l2 {, U- j) \9 E: O8 `4 G: d6 n2 _
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 B0 J2 X! p. s; J/ u  ?7 r
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 7 ~, Q6 h: b7 W6 m. Y
commitments;
9 v! K  Q& R4 B- }3 T•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
/ A  }7 t7 L. [  w) e* f•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
$ ]9 f6 X2 ^! b3 r8 o  U6 V6 |selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  3 z7 U' B" `& u. m% G
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
" w8 [. N" V$ m9 \  p& J2 D3 q8 E•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to - }, I. N: d+ n: X& [5 Y6 a
effectively and positively represent the association;
  h; o3 W8 f  @* X. {+ t
9 ^& n" Z0 q; L•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 J% k" p: A' e" Bthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  % o& }5 B5 n0 L
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal . k7 k! c% z% _: n: x- d# J# {  F
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
5 W: y0 }. p% x, qthe forthcoming year;  
) |. X% p; \9 d: i•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical : e; q/ S; G$ ]2 T$ `- z
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + v" S. D2 G+ _8 f
YWCA Canada; and
+ s9 i4 e, |+ ^2 A- `7 O; c•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ( f. @' \4 B; @( K

Required Skills & Abilities
$ @7 o/ _& z+ C" {! a•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
% |4 u6 j- i" F•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
+ S: R( ?* K8 `around decisions, plans and actions;
  d* K$ a0 }; P* Y•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
$ [/ Q9 e0 l& j- @•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
$ y: ~3 \$ s$ T& f# B; e7 hand achievable with realistic timeframes; 3 G& f/ q; L) ]4 Y1 b% W4 l
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
2 o% {! B5 ~+ L6 psimultaneously; + p# j* D( a4 X; ~+ ?, \
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
. w; f+ o5 j5 k  E% e. v3 F2 r1 }  P- mrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
0 g6 _- q) Z( d. X( f4 \•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
6 S$ `, Z9 d* s$ v9 Q•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
' d( f  Y$ D  S1 W2 B# S9 X* C
' X4 K7 E% a& d0 X  H8 dRequired Experience
$ g* R* h8 s& ?, \( h" B6 S, |% F•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
1 R( Y' ]1 {" d  G•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
: d* k+ n0 ]. y8 R* ?abilities;
- D) T( C. D) m•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
' ?% H$ E, c6 b8 \$ [" f" nNetworking and Fundraising; # p7 y2 ?5 f8 D0 q  c
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting   {# W+ A9 K/ ~/ q8 u9 o
and financial statements; and
2 W# a+ `+ S4 d) n0 M•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
# b  _, \  w6 z2 gcentered perspective.
