The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

execution of the YWCA Strategy

) H- q# S1 ~; I! J i7 M( \2 u* ^5 G: L• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 3 E( |6 a z( w& p- @
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by / q4 O2 b; o& B) p) k! y
the Board of Directors;

* l- `" l& D0 |; E+ N' e6 g6 Jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to " Y8 w& k/ [4 T, T1 @& F' O6 F
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; - ?6 y7 r, Z) ^# X
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and / v5 f' }4 k" @% x8 R, b6 P/ l0 y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
* b' U8 P8 G" i) B- Lthe board; 5 p1 K4 V9 `0 t# S
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ) X8 q# M2 I! Q
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 4 t! u) P0 d' e% ]4 ~
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) Z9 ?# j" o6 F* j. [0 p# _& Y• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
* L# I. T: J w3 w, rchanging needs of the organization and community;
* W6 S. l. V3 N• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % n8 m8 N3 S9 o7 J4 B, _; Y
commitments;
0 c" J) I2 q& }6 E• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 5 A9 j4 O3 ?% \# q
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - W$ A g6 ]9 W2 c2 z C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
2 U9 g/ Q q4 e. v& t5 m• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; : K# i& q+ m( M
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
& `, J( M4 J. q4 k( feffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ) ~: O6 t# C- l- K2 M. c* o
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; : |" _# M5 @5 }1 D
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ) [, ` W3 Z6 C( h1 x+ a% j+ D
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
, ]/ L) V' H% tthe forthcoming year;
: M+ R& p( V* M! [) B4 H• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- k7 ^" h/ ?5 \4 A l! ?; I: ~practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 u) s5 d8 V7 P& s/ n) c
YWCA Canada; and
) ^7 E( m" u* Y" t: m7 N& S! G6 z• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

around decisions, plans and actions;

• Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

2 {" X7 _6 K, ?$ f' F• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

6 q& z) }& i5 h& y- nRequired Experience . ^* B& F6 @5 o
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 Z0 o6 X* c1 V/ \& Y$ s/ ~9 J1 o• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation w# v3 N' i9 P/ [/ \( H) M0 m' d
abilities;
! y' I' ^" R0 ]6 W$ R• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
$ A/ b) o# t' JNetworking and Fundraising;
; f% e T" Z& x) K8 g• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
; L/ D# ]+ m* ^( U+ L/ y- @$ |and financial statements; and " T- a7 p+ T1 K4 a
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 4 D0 S8 [& `* a
centered perspective.
