Responsibilities

* x& S; Y# K" o' l. a+ M) xReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and # G2 C6 ^0 M# |' z! N! b
execution of the YWCA Strategy 9 ?* v, }# W1 \% h

Specific responsibilities include:

$ s) x8 ^4 S0 R* U- w) X• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
+ |" w: X, {" M/ d& D. gthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
9 ]9 Q, C( Q- s1 Nthe Board of Directors;
* K7 u2 ?$ Y5 q0 y* Y# ^, {• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 7 F# l9 k, J O8 C- B: c
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 4 n8 P$ Y% m( `: R
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; : e, b( v3 ]+ H
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and - Z1 O0 r' q; D6 D; d: _) |! U
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ' u+ x8 Y+ E3 o! W8 ?
the board;

* h6 Q% X$ W0 }. G$ b- J• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * `2 c- U# a5 C- a
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
! B3 R1 `8 l' ^# v+ r$ K( q8 p& m• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 5 N) I6 x) g3 T8 f% j
changing needs of the organization and community;
7 l( I: h) x3 V8 J* ^• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) K& X0 J9 d# W* W! D4 E
commitments; 9 i8 V: n) X& Y3 t+ z
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ; v+ }3 v9 @" F0 \/ i6 m, l
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' A# M0 a3 C$ q4 M$ A) q% F4 n C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; % i* g% s7 {1 T! E" N
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 {! W0 G; y9 R# \4 s6 A1 r( P• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to $ Y6 ~' j/ U0 @+ f- J! i) v
effectively and positively represent the association; r; _. F' L. Q% o H

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. a, k: v& s& l0 s9 {$ V) nthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
. B& n% \. B' @# P- T2 K: h: P+ j• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , X4 b' J+ i K7 |# h/ v& a
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical

YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification 8 N- Z8 |# T* U/ y% B$ O9 v$ b
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. * V! d5 W7 f! Z) l# o2 U
5 p( }' A- R9 d( D% QRequired Experience
; w1 u: ~ W* d: B• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; - R$ ? x7 ]) f- p# x! B+ u: w
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
$ `& U% H- t0 O$ R Fabilities; ! `5 N, h* Y' S' l8 u8 `: h1 v( @8 L
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ) ~2 o( l) J8 }

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
