The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

execution of the YWCA Strategy 3 f8 Y& v% d5 ?4 }

; [& e( W- l% x% G4 S8 r. u• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ^. [0 Q' A" t( }' x
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 7 G& _6 r+ z( N9 O) E7 ?7 _
the Board of Directors;

including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
o" q9 z. \9 r8 |9 I* Dobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
$ C9 z m: }9 B: X% Vthe board; ' H/ Z" O5 ?7 G6 y7 q$ d1 p
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
' u: J0 a' [+ G5 y• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
, i \) {( R0 M; _1 Sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; * D2 K$ d4 z0 `
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / Y( }$ u! E) ~/ b O1 |& p
changing needs of the organization and community;
: `) F% z9 n- ]+ F4 {9 S9 D W• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! K4 M, j: f! {: `7 R
commitments; ! z; o7 f; F) V: l' q2 B! b. z" `
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; , [' m2 M2 l. G. z( Q* u
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" O4 i! o0 {5 @- }4 |selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
: N0 ~3 j1 |! y/ @& {% Z9 O• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
* g* z* U: U, Q! z Z k# \( `• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 9 z, s( `! A( f
effectively and positively represent the association; K; q$ \2 O% F

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
+ w/ _: U2 N; d6 Ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 1 ` ` n1 A* F" s, t r
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- \" k& B. S9 O* H) ~% Hperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
' [' ~/ A F1 K0 F* B/ }% _the forthcoming year;
+ R* c ]& }+ G6 R; [+ \9 d• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
/ y2 j' f: u" ~* l' F y% B4 Rpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
5 z+ \- i! p9 y5 n m; QYWCA Canada; and 1 H+ P9 z; W7 y
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task $ E% o$ I/ t m" ^- \
Forces.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
9 h$ y5 p3 Y$ W3 N2 X• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
! t6 r( D& D0 {" q5 }1 jabilities;
1 j( N6 ?1 i4 W3 @1 u• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
( u. j4 E/ @+ G, Q0 j( g. }Networking and Fundraising;
/ V: Y+ x& c6 f" B0 X• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting $ G, b6 C8 o( ^: L0 Q$ _% d
and financial statements; and
& {" v( V' N! j1 G• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 3 f; l v# e/ w* v
centered perspective.
