The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and + c2 j: X. u1 k. K1 P$ g: z
execution of the YWCA Strategy - b- u; Q9 ^- s9 P" I

Specific responsibilities include:

: \! R4 I5 D5 v* [+ _$ n' ?3 Kthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by " e. F: {5 F9 I% x3 O
the Board of Directors;
/ O0 Y6 N. a* a5 t• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 C( i$ p" r5 r; Tincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + t/ P9 M# i' G: p, r
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 7 V" X/ q: q2 X! U
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and % _( e' a8 M9 R8 S& Z
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by _" o2 w d* t3 m

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; - d0 E! q6 P! e
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
4 a2 F4 {- X Q* Q2 a& fthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 8 v9 ]9 x R) D; w+ i) ~6 d+ A
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 3 Y- k3 s" ~' D! q6 ^
changing needs of the organization and community;
9 r: P, e* C& V( F7 N, F( f• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) C1 Q" \- [+ w6 w9 K- E
commitments;
5 q+ `" ?& {3 A( @ W O: F( ^# n7 }• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 5 V7 D# a: M& [# ]
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / u, V7 a; z& [2 n! a: g
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
+ C ~6 [7 U4 z0 b• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
- `* @9 T# v; y, F• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) X" `/ e+ a" O$ p) b4 ^, O& b+ ~
effectively and positively represent the association; 7 Y/ R5 A) ~) E- H
& j! t" p2 ?0 I/ g• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
6 a5 y5 a. j2 e5 e0 c! Pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 H2 C0 e6 S/ \7 p1 I5 `: B• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' A) |+ L$ i, y) T+ C4 {: h3 G
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! \+ ^. S( Q) ` ~: I4 k7 Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + q& H. E* j2 ?" u. O/ S& p$ l |& z
YWCA Canada; and 7 u9 d/ c! h/ i! w" Y% _2 T' o
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

5 c( y, l& x- L4 y9 V* J• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 ?3 X u; R* \/ r% U1 d6 w• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' k" N6 C* g8 E, @
abilities;
1 x# Z- Y3 b) ~. w; L( u• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ) m5 y5 Y' O% k$ M* p0 `
