Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

) O8 a2 U5 }; ^5 S- r. V• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 9 l8 h: }% J: I$ g
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 V3 F# h7 K+ J3 D8 `9 Z3 l: M! Ithe Board of Directors;
8 d% k' A1 I! H( ?• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: M6 \: y1 V1 M+ zincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 h! w! F) ^# D% b3 _! R# X
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
& T( _6 x4 c2 Z) R. l& {• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and * E+ ^9 l, p$ E! p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; $ z$ z; _! t ~! Q: d" o/ I5 r
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 f- d6 a0 W6 s6 B
commitments; ! ?+ x6 s; Q, ~; b/ q
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; & N. z% j* K& i/ y. D
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' w3 h3 o2 b' ~1 S( z- i ?
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
. a3 g& x0 {) X7 u. W• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ' ?# p+ b# M' J3 b% U! L; ~9 N; ]
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
- K6 g5 l: m9 ^2 [& ^5 i0 {( Wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 6 g; _; d. D( p$ j1 p
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& F# z w" L; \performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 1 d, _) Z" N4 m
the forthcoming year; / D) }+ w: D" r% o" \, c6 i1 a
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical " N! f6 |) Y0 X
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
2 C, ~. o# f+ i, c1 d4 Y3 x; oYWCA Canada; and ( `% W" {, U/ K( U7 V
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
% n2 W7 X5 L; c6 ^: x' r/ C• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

, m5 M) x+ I4 a8 ~: s• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
2 O& o, o( D, I• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
