Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and # M6 G# N$ }/ H, N! P$ }( A
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

1 v: A$ U$ Q, j, P& S/ i• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % d0 ^ v2 Q0 \- j) ]
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
/ P8 O$ J5 f3 Y1 Wthe Board of Directors; . g; x; ], j% v. H! L4 V/ ?0 ]
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations " X, \, x4 L( d; w2 h9 R
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 9 R1 J1 r% ]1 E) \8 m, \5 E6 D
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 5 k% h& X! ?# J9 I6 ?
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and " z9 T6 t1 _- Q1 M6 D
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
; f$ A8 ^: C0 othe board;
2 u. F( A4 k l j1 ^• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
; K! t/ i9 V5 ^7 I• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 [5 }) }9 Z/ W2 `) I8 y( ~. h9 Nthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 b3 `4 Z$ ^' j- ? p( i; e
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 0 E3 k8 J; |$ e' y `
changing needs of the organization and community; 2 g: J% A! G Z- @* J
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
* J: O1 U+ Q6 Y7 ?commitments;
1 R: [, R4 s8 }. U5 j! Z* _7 K• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
& X# S. g+ }4 m7 i, F$ T, q: {• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) D' [9 C9 Z4 ?3 Uselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; % t6 N6 a& y0 ^# k& R4 l: K
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; % ]- `; ?# w* J
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
9 P0 f5 d" ]* x: r: u1 } P6 Aeffectively and positively represent the association; " m# S3 u% O7 U

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& [ l1 L8 v0 W" \& u. Wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
+ l ~% \4 [6 ]1 F* [. \) Y• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 6 ^$ ~1 c. q) M" b" `! d& i5 o( _
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 s/ c/ Z9 D$ H% D; } y
the forthcoming year; $ b0 p9 ^" w Y7 w2 {
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 c6 M2 |: r! K5 w3 Npractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
4 \1 q* v$ m0 H; U5 o a; l7 @YWCA Canada; and ) f+ m6 l- {0 n0 \, H
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
' M' J( D) M' M- V1 @& ZForces.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
" E% g; H: ~; U8 s• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 3 ?, I7 y) E; K' M1 e/ f; b* g
Networking and Fundraising;
