Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 3 [2 B( k# B' o% D9 M+ k
execution of the YWCA Strategy ! e$ j/ ]- v; A& b. ]5 P! }( k
) ~: H$ p& m5 F s" lSpecific responsibilities include: 8 x+ F* K( l! c: `

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' o0 P$ K* o1 A6 uthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by * `+ P1 D* S) c( T ?; u
the Board of Directors; 1 G7 g( r g7 \! Y6 v- q- ]
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 U- f+ w3 }* |( l1 S9 f4 S5 zincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + o5 `: W) M8 i$ I
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; $ N* O0 ^7 f- a2 I6 d7 |
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and " b- ?8 j( p7 m$ N0 A5 m: J1 X
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by / b. o; c5 F' r* R! O$ s
the board; ! @/ `: s6 g& p3 Z
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; , W. K( O4 M: P9 a) F# x) o
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 0 U7 n5 a3 B, u3 a
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) \7 i: ?/ s9 C( G' [• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * x2 F% w. L. a& A, D
changing needs of the organization and community;
) }: W) f- f5 X0 y9 B1 }• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! p# @* J3 K$ f1 k: T

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; + h# F+ A2 e4 h: ]& a$ b
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
( W7 |9 }/ s1 U5 Hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
0 p# y) c4 m/ F: Q& g• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; & Z( ], F$ }% V5 W, a% g; O0 `) J
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ! d" E& V/ W' x; }9 [! Q9 V. c/ O
effectively and positively represent the association; ( e; w! ^3 P% Q1 g
( O5 K! S, L& E8 Z0 F3 R# ?4 a• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
, x' t$ H- v) q- O% othe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ) K+ u) `) @" E
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
# {( N% z' T! Q- bperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
$ k3 A: z' h1 c7 o3 G! Mthe forthcoming year; 2 ]0 F$ d" H3 H* o
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
& E" C& q0 n! d0 fpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
# U8 n7 A0 E, G: X' _8 s6 K8 d8 GYWCA Canada; and 5 F/ ?0 }0 N9 m" D
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 2 Y9 \1 S8 ]3 ^

Required Professional Designation / Certification
2 f' I6 f Y3 P7 a5 ^: e! k' I• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

$ }0 K, Y: g; l5 A9 b( v• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 4 M. A3 l5 V6 X5 P( `+ x
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
8 _! K" `9 z. u6 dabilities; m, k- n! |% X" u; v
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
5 Q2 k4 \5 G9 v2 m O8 `Networking and Fundraising;
' u6 U! l& K$ e; a, v" z• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting : H9 d% o( y; t% D# e. X
and financial statements; and
