surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 4 Z, i* j: K) E0 i- j. Y% l
execution of the YWCA Strategy 4 g* }4 Y; h$ ]  G/ e9 Z/ L4 h

' z1 t7 z9 F6 ]& G: {5 }/ l& RSpecific responsibilities include:  4 P! X! c/ ~# h1 X3 @& _

9 K1 A; O4 B  N/ K. B5 w•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 i2 v4 X9 H! b9 y+ L9 R% `
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & G( h, K1 {& c, P" R5 p" l
the Board of Directors;  
! Y7 H: Q" _' J8 K2 R•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - A5 v8 I( F3 Z# F! n8 @
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
/ w" M+ p4 Y/ `enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 K9 _1 q& F& A- l5 x$ I•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 ~9 t# t" [, x
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
( a" c4 c4 n6 p; a, Zthe board;  & Y; Z4 h/ e$ \5 I( Z5 P8 j
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
/ E7 R7 e$ A0 Q0 x. z•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
% h, ?1 s0 L3 V* w& D2 G2 _. w. {the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 4 B! G$ z2 ^5 g. l8 ?9 Q, B
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the : E' L) F% ?, [: Y# {0 B( F9 j
changing needs of the organization and community; & X9 x6 C- ~) r
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + d! m/ C, R. h5 N  R+ K
commitments; ' s6 t) j8 x4 E& E
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
: ~0 ]1 U6 I. Z% H. D  Q9 `, n•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
  a6 m) T5 ^" @2 Y5 zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
$ p1 h: I9 ^5 W: O•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ! k* f2 a, \6 I2 N
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 S- E. O+ k# h9 U
effectively and positively represent the association;
+ _# X' i: F$ _( C
7 a! R6 U$ L! T' I* M•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
+ p( M$ S2 Z) m8 q3 b" G% s0 Q. tthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  ! z# Z$ Z! m5 B0 U% Z0 N) H6 s$ `
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
" B( I1 p9 p* Aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 6 H1 h# i& {$ e6 S
the forthcoming year;  2 B* h2 m* ?. i
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical & k2 n1 _! ~" x) z. {: U) B* v
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of % O+ n4 p) h7 K7 `' n- U) P1 I
YWCA Canada; and ) ~: D, m& A" x
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ; Z' w+ l% V4 \/ I

) q' U& Q" S  \+ M8 B' M: zRequired Skills & Abilities
$ w) d) y( w1 ^! J% B•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
, H' k8 c* V" N* I; T) x•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus : u& w' z% v& E& i
around decisions, plans and actions; 1 b" M) a" N* A6 |2 Q8 \
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
! M6 S# o( G7 q% Y" i2 q•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 6 j4 U( L2 t, T  z# I
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
' J4 M8 }. K) E9 J& O9 f•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
' t5 u0 y9 K) q1 R" g- _- Zsimultaneously; ; F, K+ W, c  K5 H
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
6 J; Q  t5 |3 I3 O' d5 @2 hrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; , N; T' V" m! A+ a
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 6 j# z6 X4 a6 N9 T; B
•  Superior negotiation skills.

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ) K8 w! q2 F9 @8 G$ y

3 [9 g% l! j9 |( w4 i% s•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
6 L; d$ N& y0 s6 T•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
1 ]1 C% [* D- Aabilities;
! T* V, v& w' q) b9 Q5 j•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 k7 k6 h7 U; c" @6 R
Networking and Fundraising; 0 v8 [4 u. i& N3 p
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ) ^5 o+ B4 L) r
and financial statements; and , w& w/ x% {) L
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
, T- X" [6 W. k' ~( Xcentered perspective.
