thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead
4 B! e5 g" c9 E9 B5 v) B  }this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA / y# M2 b1 B. \. Y1 D: l
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and / O9 Q) U1 }9 b
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
1 j8 `7 Y+ Q- ?. o$ ~6 w3 I: S7 uexecution of the YWCA Strategy
/ s7 v- m! U7 p7 L9 W2 e' b8 | + F; B4 r, i; g! u: s: Q& F
Specific responsibilities include:  
/ Y& U& B2 L) g  ?% V6 K & q. ^6 q+ g1 S9 \- u. R
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 I3 [- O$ Z- Y+ p  Tthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by - c2 b# t! x* U0 _1 x, v
the Board of Directors;  & S3 `) }" \1 |5 @" _
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 [0 \6 e3 e! o  dincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
, d0 `! b$ B3 Renable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 K2 _* z: b& Z) f  C•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and + ^6 w; n; l' z  B2 W; H2 s' ~8 i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " Z8 }( q$ F! g$ K% \5 B
the board;  
+ B6 e+ f" U0 |  |$ e7 y' [. d- \( r•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ' g) M. l. U, n
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * u7 y7 }3 `2 A" F: t
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: [9 o3 R/ |/ D9 q•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 O. }9 @: ~& S1 I" Z9 lchanging needs of the organization and community; " L7 w9 N3 K; j$ m
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
0 b' {9 O! m  A1 `  acommitments;
& ^9 k" ]) I. k) i4 I•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
, }( a; `7 _; K5 z5 L# t7 @•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 u8 {2 ]  v& [7 ^0 V4 n* s
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
  w6 J$ `0 }6 A/ [7 w/ I•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 2 r1 q/ E$ z( h) v: F; T
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to / e  L% Z, G+ l) ^
effectively and positively represent the association; $ p) B: }: @! ^; D9 {, B' j
8 e6 p* W" [% r0 ]8 Q$ n
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 5 G9 A0 ~+ ~: A* }4 `
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  + [1 [5 M: K" \$ k& G
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal - w+ \) ]: Z' ^% S5 k1 l8 G9 W
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
1 x4 O! M# P" x* r/ L$ H0 d+ _the forthcoming year;  
% k* S& U  S: ^•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ) ^6 Y; j' O, s( B; k0 b
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of & O  ?- C/ N& k' @/ L8 F$ L
YWCA Canada; and 4 B, @7 L4 h& m" j+ A  r- Q' A
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
4 r  R7 L5 a6 a1 K! N; GForces.  : C0 r5 m0 E2 `* r: T0 a* z6 R  u

Required Skills & Abilities
: _1 ?. l. R# _; _2 B# ?•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; + H; g6 ^% q) y5 N2 A. x6 a2 L
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus . L8 i6 P" [7 n; [5 {
around decisions, plans and actions; 6 s6 q$ f- `$ ^6 o5 ]% d- U9 I
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; # r# L7 e; v' S2 B- h% n9 x
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
0 v' L7 l. ?0 |/ Pand achievable with realistic timeframes; 5 i! _/ [* I0 C$ x
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
" A5 P% J3 R, wsimultaneously;
/ {: O" t! ]9 J8 E# H; b7 P9 F•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build " g/ l' m' J6 D0 V* w( ~3 T# C
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
; }) b' z4 ]5 Z# }4 t6 K! ~& |•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and & d, E+ L, s8 H" V9 T$ M
•  Superior negotiation skills. / D- Q- O6 ~) ?3 v

* d" H+ w8 q$ ]. Q Required Professional Designation / Certification % @3 {1 N; F* f6 t. O# ]& W, u
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

+ p# r+ g1 i2 z/ wRequired Experience
. Z( v0 L/ k0 K( r* O•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, x$ k  Z; N& ?- [+ i& L1 W9 o6 W•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
4 H1 R( O& _" m: {$ zabilities;
! U5 R# z6 Q' Q•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
8 O3 ~9 s: ^6 v$ M; zNetworking and Fundraising; . P* {/ y7 }) S7 E+ _  D: J
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( Q9 h& l) Y# J/ y6 p4 J' band financial statements; and " E+ v, r; G/ {$ {% S
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
# h* J7 m) j/ U! o3 k4 S2 z2 x2 kcentered perspective. 7 o/ [* J, c3 R" L
