" [0 ~7 J, E6 j. x6 h, P. uReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
: f: u$ a) ?$ q& Cexecution of the YWCA Strategy
% w% [) R- y5 m/ p
, b; x# \+ W6 q3 m* w8 HSpecific responsibilities include:  
! ]0 I  m0 }$ j 2 y+ s+ ^* F$ Y' e7 i, x3 h
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
# f2 d# |* ]4 [0 u8 [3 ?% lthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
% j* K' r& k* l( t9 Qthe Board of Directors;  
( E( |9 `6 E) |" V( @: h% `•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations / L+ J. F+ a) h
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
1 W* X4 a% G3 d" a' y8 Henable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
/ ?- m: ^9 c! E+ d4 D% h•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 9 P0 f3 M9 ~) V3 i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , J( }9 c) j0 w/ _* F
the board;  
* \3 X9 ]& ~# P5 o* R/ `3 {•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  4 X4 x# @" Y2 e% t' {" ]  y' m
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 1 ~5 q( w4 U) |; p) ]# j$ r4 g* V: D
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) M6 F9 |) @% G5 C3 L( i7 |5 i! O0 n7 e•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
0 q! s$ W' Y7 k' \( f# r0 A- dchanging needs of the organization and community;
5 r: Z' k6 `. L5 N( I•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
2 `) b5 ], m5 g! E- dcommitments; 5 O# N# y& }" u. `8 s/ H! L6 E: G
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  : W2 z9 M) a/ @/ ~0 O
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* u: ?6 i1 r8 Qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  + c. `' L1 g) @$ L' x: J. ~
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ) S9 ?! q: \# f) V' y& l5 K" \! V
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to # N/ R" S$ j1 g- o% L
effectively and positively represent the association; # n0 k( D/ Z( J3 Q5 q

; _& ?" b1 q/ ]9 \9 J+ l; [•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring * L" c/ G" f. K4 o/ v# F
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
3 f( a0 t# \+ m3 p/ ^+ b* a•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ! X$ d) Y* {; M3 _0 w
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED : Z: f4 W9 z" C5 C/ q
the forthcoming year;  + ]! n7 c# ?) ]; A; h) o; A0 [
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # r6 y6 e8 L; W9 c$ i* @+ A# V
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of * P% M7 a& h# k' I1 k
YWCA Canada; and
' y$ H) @! ^- d8 e, q, [" c7 \: `. _•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 4 w2 e5 @* n1 V
Forces.

Required Skills & Abilities
2 X/ M% k, O, p- U2 Z  u) X6 A•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 2 K' A8 S3 S, y0 n4 X
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus - H! u" U7 U1 ]4 U/ Y
around decisions, plans and actions;
. X4 y1 l$ B$ ~; q; Z•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
% I: ?4 ?7 Z! o•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable   g7 r" ?. `& l7 K1 Z3 B
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
4 V- S+ j9 V' g% S+ I% N8 U•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ! W% s- N, Y, c9 Y' \5 n9 `
simultaneously; ! ]9 j7 g+ \5 ~! Y
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
3 A( B+ |$ |. D* `/ Urapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; % t; O( C/ Y# X; J/ o& A9 d
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
& l, K8 Y; Z0 F/ W- Z•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
/ J4 E' o; ?! c- _ ) r# f2 S; l) }, D& j$ }3 W
Required Experience 4 y0 g  m& A4 t9 x6 ~
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; - \( g9 a7 Y# Q  y
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : y. V( b% z: l0 _0 i: X
abilities; * X0 w% d9 ?1 V6 J: Y
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, # T: a; I( o8 f" z2 V% y1 G$ \
Networking and Fundraising; 5 l# D) \2 C( G7 E
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
- i! c/ ~5 n/ Pand financial statements; and
9 ~7 i/ j# g! v1 u# ^' w•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
) w% e  @* J2 r. \* L1 wcentered perspective.
