The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
8 g& `& F5 W" K( G& R1 W8 ^5 u y2 GEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 7 ]9 c$ J! T0 L, p0 A4 U( ]
surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% O( M; A: [+ U% q6 o* v2 ?execution of the YWCA Strategy . O* z. {0 w% E# R

Specific responsibilities include:

m- j/ _- B& D3 U, t# S- \; l• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
, t7 c. q( d* P3 Sthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by % U3 P+ P7 v% n: [( _$ r4 W" G5 i
the Board of Directors;
( p" J0 P* X/ I3 @2 O" H" o• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& o3 a! B. I, [8 b- h. ?5 Uincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
5 i" G; \9 ?+ @7 Qenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ) E8 B/ o. @, v- X8 E. A
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and H% l' q$ w0 j4 K/ e$ k- `7 G
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by z9 _4 i. B9 y. P' F
the board; ' s, }% c3 p/ y2 _& h5 X
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
. g, F8 w: t& l" T) L• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ( `9 E2 V5 }9 l/ J6 t# ^4 K
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
( d x' S6 i" N* i) e) r$ r• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the , w# d2 V' {0 L" G* B$ V1 d1 G. c$ R
changing needs of the organization and community;
! l% o. G; v" j• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. M2 z$ O f9 S9 M) ]commitments; ; p2 G' @% _: s1 @' F# G) O; k$ r
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; - G s2 o: R0 D
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) U2 }8 s7 [9 j7 {selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; * F* b2 p M) e; ~' V" n r
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 [/ p/ z" d f; o* ~; f Q7 I# q
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
- o6 R4 w- N! P. S! ]" Keffectively and positively represent the association; + b; L$ ~& b% N
! T1 l" `/ t# G" t! x: n3 X$ G• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
$ z( x. v3 O7 ~" M/ Ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
: C% r4 S6 U2 h. J$ `• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 2 O3 l$ H9 R2 e8 c
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED $ p4 ^4 V" A. M0 X" L
the forthcoming year;
/ M; t! _5 k: v- q• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 2 k/ O$ o& Q) ?, c( Y0 I
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - b; j! t0 g6 s' g

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification 0 |& s& @6 t/ F- B3 l5 X& t4 j
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
$ u2 S( X7 e8 n2 a. U* a• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( S: K, [0 M. H/ r• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
8 w) s9 ?! Q! A9 s: a4 x$ s* pabilities; % k* ?1 i/ p, d( k3 r" T% A8 W
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 c9 V! e0 d! N& t1 Y
Networking and Fundraising;
