Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & R+ \/ _% p6 P7 Y* z
execution of the YWCA Strategy ! J; G5 X3 D4 f# V) O2 U% ?! r& M
) v. j) h4 S7 ]2 H; @Specific responsibilities include:

7 T6 v( i3 r1 Q* \+ y& x! J• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
- t0 v1 |; N( \" b$ Jthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 6 ?. ~5 A' D+ w: X- N8 F: z) N
the Board of Directors; " L( p; d. O ^+ R- i9 C+ u
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
' j$ _' l! ?$ @8 `4 Gincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
6 M$ O* T" H8 x6 [( Z9 Nenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
" }+ s0 Q: L0 B5 z• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ R2 @' F, o+ j9 P8 V
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: g W1 k9 f% e( w$ e$ f, hthe board;
( [+ j! N( B1 Z• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 2 A/ _6 P$ P( ]7 h
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
' w! c+ W5 N- z& m. zthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 8 ?* a1 J3 r4 N6 y
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
( r5 g, a) q4 W1 c I: [$ schanging needs of the organization and community;
7 P8 C" Q) U- Q; J• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
1 z# Y& R" D: u: t' Zcommitments;
% U- W' {( |' s• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
3 A6 {/ U; U; O* n' s3 |• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
6 E% l5 I% `1 i$ fselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
1 v6 B+ C% V' B f• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ! P3 e3 g* S0 \8 _. N; @
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to + ?/ x0 \) b8 N$ F0 {7 q, i
effectively and positively represent the association; : W. m+ c9 `" j- k( [

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring % s* v# X! c+ o* F6 i: S8 l
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
( | B7 R% G+ I. e8 ]• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
* X# g" n( i1 \# U* v- s* F! qperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , q) q& Z7 e/ W
the forthcoming year;
( d( x$ _+ W; ^! z5 a8 p0 F• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 A: y, K2 z+ s* Z! p5 V" z/ xpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 7 Q5 n" H/ ~) N+ V+ U: [
YWCA Canada; and
2 G* J2 i5 a) j3 U( P: {• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
5 r& u. P/ A/ T& |) ?, N( ]• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ' ] K3 s8 j) r2 i: X4 B
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' O) r: ~9 f2 q6 f5 a
abilities; : y& l$ r; K( R. X- P
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 v- z" s8 ^+ t" B: `. x, K' v% z yNetworking and Fundraising;
* V0 E7 w( }: r$ X1 S• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
& z7 _% l3 i1 {4 n9 _and financial statements; and $ P# F" f9 O P1 Y. C
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 3 K( }2 A/ Y. o4 U8 ~
centered perspective.
