Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
8 r5 S' e1 ~7 Q }) `3 V; lthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
$ V* V- d) G4 W4 e4 z9 N& U" }- Athe Board of Directors;
& d6 J" \! b# F) s9 m* o% m l$ }• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
/ Q0 }8 c" x4 Fincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
2 n& n2 _4 k. f7 Lenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! }. u c/ }1 m. Q4 u/ |* V/ O• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 u; M6 C3 [# }
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 F; _* C z" _
the board;
4 `- }( k x; G• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; * o7 ^. L. T3 f& W% F/ Q7 s8 E' j
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 L8 k9 o; I }8 Zthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; , I2 D E) `# R5 Y# O! |
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
Z$ ]# I( M! r; Rchanging needs of the organization and community;
^# }) b! X- p4 ^2 J• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
9 h0 X k( U$ F8 fcommitments;
: [: R& ^2 B; C7 Z• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 4 d: h- g1 i( L' X1 u3 k4 h
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
; V( m' \1 {3 l0 `! ^selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 6 b$ c0 s3 ?: @6 p$ u- n
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 z; R: E' S9 L i$ W
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
& d& |( u+ w5 @( i5 _effectively and positively represent the association; 2 h0 m: \% \ M

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / i% _/ n K# a
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ) X* M" Q4 j) M9 k) h
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
$ o. M2 w( P8 L3 q7 Y" ]+ [performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! p( l5 v& K- f, Sthe forthcoming year; $ S2 }* f+ x' v/ T3 \
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical + ^, h/ Q. [) o
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
( i% q/ L# ]8 N$ L8 E) v3 \YWCA Canada; and
; H! |/ `' @3 d* h• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification + a3 E8 g8 @7 ~* G$ d! J2 e2 Y
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
! @9 M3 X3 p! |& `5 ]; _

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 1 X l9 _5 q7 E7 S/ h4 e
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
* C- R8 A, }6 c- A$ T( W) Jabilities;

, B3 f: M" m4 `; WNetworking and Fundraising;

and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
