The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
& ^. q: C. P7 g6 `- aEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
% F& a: O( R( Jsurrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ' q3 Z/ s( l7 H/ m
execution of the YWCA Strategy # w0 n# Y5 {0 C7 M7 ?8 T

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of # {# E8 ~. }* ~" i% }- @
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
: {3 e A: S& B3 C& A1 othe Board of Directors; ; I: f+ o4 W) m) A4 h2 G$ x- \
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
- }+ |% V# ^/ z9 c0 Z3 k" Iincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ s% B4 y2 ^: k" A7 wenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ( D# X& k( I5 s3 |) o0 d3 C* v# x
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ' E/ H0 y9 `/ \: D# r
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 6 N- s L8 N6 {% r, T
the board;
) T# K8 a* G' R* e! y+ i3 W• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
' H$ _% E. A& F" E• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 I1 i- ^( x2 X3 |1 B
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 C. U1 Z8 m7 [" [/ l5 }• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the . V+ y* J2 i) o9 e( R' E3 U6 c
changing needs of the organization and community; a0 Q* `1 m I, v1 b" O
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ; P* a7 [; P4 A" w$ W
commitments; 7 z5 p' }( a2 j% S# H6 x
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; $ [$ @2 b; Y2 O2 L+ y
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective . G$ i# F( Q) n) a6 u% U3 J
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
6 c$ F. L2 R) k4 R( p9 m• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 5 B. D% d: ~4 X* i' Z* n8 D
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ; h9 x; @: {6 x* Q0 w! Q; }+ s
effectively and positively represent the association;

& r# V8 e2 i. e7 z6 M* ?• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
: `& }8 L/ p5 g6 P5 Hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
0 `8 p' A7 y8 m" ]5 I. S• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' w( R% v$ ~2 wperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 u+ A* z" s& e) V8 p# \2 }
the forthcoming year;
3 \# I2 Z. e! Q. n: {" ]• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical C" Y! f2 E* g, r! a8 C6 f: {
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
! Q$ `" S3 b3 a; N: ~Forces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
5 h; `8 r, @1 \• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

5 b) P2 ^* c% T# }" g5 M8 C• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; # T p' u8 G5 \
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# T' O( n% s; A- v4 j% Y- D) v! Uabilities;
) V8 b; Z; o& Q% G$ h% e, k/ ^. U f6 Q• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 J8 E8 s% K, h* y, [Networking and Fundraising;
6 f8 R6 o- A( f. d2 V7 A" O• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 7 x' z3 K/ N4 T! k

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
