Responsibilities

1 I' a) L g: [5 ] t7 n7 iReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
5 n! L- Q0 v: r% g' s9 i+ K8 rexecution of the YWCA Strategy ( D* R1 Y/ {& h0 T" ], G

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ( g, E9 R( K' u( h
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by - X5 R) c% }9 o s! @& D- V
the Board of Directors;
' I- A# b. o' E/ ?, X• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
# X' `. [& j& J: w( Kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 0 z! d" o- b, a8 x& @& M
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
* m& w" F/ V' ~6 Z• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( b% P8 w7 ?6 G! Z
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
* u0 ^& R' V. r4 |& Q, E, M3 Qthe board;
1 ?+ Y& {/ b0 D" H• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
" w! p# U' f$ v$ `# O• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) u# R7 @" X. R% z, \1 J
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
6 R9 m4 y$ l% o: \5 A• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * H7 _5 E2 K- i! ?3 T# V2 [
changing needs of the organization and community; " c3 C" D/ l: e+ U
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 0 t# T! t, ]* L$ [8 s2 k/ \: A" C
commitments;
+ L% i$ x$ O, W3 r. s• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; # Y2 e2 S7 c7 D( R, L# `) J
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 k- V5 K# F1 [' ?2 V, R2 m
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
8 P, D0 t$ ?: p! h, C2 m• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; & a; [! G, ?7 S- b. g; m
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
: x1 l9 B/ W: Neffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , p, w" X7 [& G+ s: _9 f& O+ C
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
' R; G, _7 J" Z3 Z2 M• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
0 P/ J) ^. w0 hperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
: T% Y3 y7 H( [! i5 v7 F, d' i3 K% sthe forthcoming year; 1 n$ r7 |+ p# t/ P# `0 A
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
+ g/ d6 u0 e6 c! c# j: apractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
# u8 C# z2 U& k1 }# s& L- w, s6 @( MYWCA Canada; and : `6 B# {$ B! m5 M
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task / b* z0 w4 e' q& _5 d
Forces.

• Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

Required Experience
# Z1 J6 S, |' A m0 |& T3 [! u• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, P0 x( E4 p2 [• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# P+ e, T& p) L( p: V8 nabilities; : o( @8 w5 v" V* P
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
8 Y) P- D4 P: i @/ sNetworking and Fundraising;
# \$ l% y3 j5 D [• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting * h! a$ P* F- v5 F- q* z
and financial statements; and
( u5 w0 Q: `) H2 G2 o7 E3 m+ E• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
