The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

$ G9 I) P. m) x. oexecution of the YWCA Strategy S6 p4 p; _, C6 A# z

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
1 Z- i" R0 z0 J: d3 ythe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by # X6 A2 N/ A( s% r# `+ k
the Board of Directors;
, m3 l# @& Y- } x/ D• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
/ D- d& a! m( n& uincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
) }( [6 x9 c1 z- { jenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
+ ?( c E1 e! e' s! k9 N• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ) J! L H0 @2 s9 E d) ^. f/ V" f
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 V# H3 ]+ m& s, w* n( N
the board;
$ W/ G- H: N3 _+ _+ ]( X• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
5 s0 N6 g$ m+ c8 |- C, A0 p5 g5 r6 }• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 Z+ ^2 }+ I- X% M9 Z8 R
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) i2 \0 A k1 L• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * s, o9 V0 |( Y
changing needs of the organization and community;
! W& [* j( V; e! j- @ j• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue / @8 ?0 s! i j1 J6 _# Z" G1 W
commitments;
, W g# c1 k3 S9 d, b# a• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 d* G$ x6 T5 s# v• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
# c5 }7 }6 y, y4 x8 Lselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 3 B2 M. z8 y7 J0 L
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

9 P. E+ }* k" ]4 @4 |& {• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring : {* N! z, t# ]+ V' G, [" H& q
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
) K7 e6 F: T0 r" @• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ( O- h2 f3 X1 }$ N
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 6 L) R' A; S4 ^$ E3 _* G
the forthcoming year;
/ P) h$ W+ y- @" t* C, q" e- x• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
( C- t; ~# j1 w% i/ @8 kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 R# _* n9 k+ u$ n
YWCA Canada; and
4 }+ F; E# O+ ?" T6 p• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

Required Professional Designation / Certification
$ H: P. j/ Q0 R4 C. w, J- k• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 3 [! ]. V1 Z& [: B' _0 _( V

Required Experience
3 E5 Q. w( e) y! f6 b• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
1 V% a( z- X G" k8 d. {• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
m: `% S3 n) [: K9 K, Oabilities; & Y: J8 Y, N; p: n B
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, # X( ?5 Z$ v7 u5 M3 C/ H
Networking and Fundraising; $ t4 u! f. ?! U" l. i+ V- ~
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
' \7 @# k& o, j8 ^& z; \and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
