Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and $ G: k- l1 N7 ~4 a/ \2 h
execution of the YWCA Strategy 2 ] h9 N' Y/ }) h8 u
& D3 U2 W c$ Y
Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
" t7 l" [ G' a% z" ithe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
, y/ U+ K: o& `. uthe Board of Directors;
2 h6 P' ~, t; _+ m5 t' O; ~6 y' w• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 t& L2 ?6 ]" N. p2 z# U8 P
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to , m- v' n3 ^7 O9 W3 a2 U( Z1 g9 E
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
* w1 ]( [! O# @8 {( p: G6 N* |• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
& n! B% m5 a8 T! | ]4 |objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ) c* \" O' {) _: e5 v" w
the board;
0 L: `4 F3 h, N• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; : h2 n) C1 }6 j' ~
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion , M1 J5 E, V; E* y0 ~4 ?: P
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
& m. D! F6 ^; t; X5 j4 m& H- m• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% ~4 |* Y# U9 W2 o9 J/ L; ichanging needs of the organization and community; 3 R/ ?; `8 t/ s1 G
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
' w9 l7 j3 z2 wcommitments; 7 T, ~2 y* `- q' H& U- x( c' N
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
/ ]9 p5 q0 O% W: U* q• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* S" `+ ^! p, k# C7 Nselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% z9 t L5 Q: m2 o( e% A: O# J• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
+ F8 ^6 |0 G1 _4 u4 g• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 7 b8 T& T' J5 a6 K/ Y% G5 m8 @' b6 y
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
$ b& Q3 \5 ]: J! T9 A! \the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
/ K% `* ]! |5 J, b, z+ \9 w• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
6 d! g9 C2 w1 V/ Eperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
; X, h; T' {1 q& Uthe forthcoming year;
6 f6 z2 X1 j, C% d- A _• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
1 ~4 ]1 x: i7 g Y$ D* @* Q- Kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
( j8 ~+ W' k) u4 E% V- k3 ]: j1 ?YWCA Canada; and 6 M% G) G, a0 r8 B5 @; S' X
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
9 V. |1 C: g/ O, y r" S• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; + Y& M. C! O8 x
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' @# @( m( A& i3 B* u; r& ]abilities;
4 V5 _4 N2 o9 o1 a• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" r' b" x, r5 v$ r6 FNetworking and Fundraising;
4 J. N$ K5 ~# Z( f3 Q• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . v! _/ q5 Q5 M
and financial statements; and 2 N, q8 _& j, d7 f+ @
