this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
5 c" _2 i1 Q/ x' Q% [% p: M5 `Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
5 l, p+ Y  A$ M) \% z5 Bsurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

- s( j7 ^* ^) S. U6 N% tReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and . F  p/ B, D0 ?
execution of the YWCA Strategy # i: h: U$ K1 A
  y- g% j: i3 w0 N% F6 V) W4 w, r; a
Specific responsibilities include:  
2 {# _% H# d0 Y0 Z. u
5 [0 x" h1 |# G* [! ]0 }; w) G•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ; y$ @' O' I  G8 ]  c' M& u# u
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
2 E4 E/ n) u7 [9 F3 q7 Cthe Board of Directors;  
* s; o5 I/ X$ q5 M/ Q" ]•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ g( U' q0 c, v, r! Bincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ! |4 c5 b+ T" ~7 B' N. e
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; + M0 `7 p, \4 f3 V. Z" ?0 n: {! ?
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, @' ?% z/ d2 \$ M; g3 Oobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; z* e6 A, q7 p7 S+ z
the board;  
2 j4 }' r: b3 {9 a  D•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
0 v5 x( `5 Y+ B! A0 f•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
! A: d* u8 Q/ N( _6 Y) ]the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 6 c$ c" r: u) v7 \- t. {/ q& y
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 V. ]1 {2 J' @& e* \7 ~changing needs of the organization and community;
+ k6 F  {0 G0 R8 D•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. [; b" y' x4 x  i' S2 [' D7 rcommitments;
# u8 r5 `6 r# r( B. ~8 L•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  . J( H0 ?! R  ~/ k
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, u3 d, o" D: p% ~6 \$ z/ b( Uselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  8 I4 |. P* ^8 a: c) h4 l3 x
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
& ~) |5 V- F6 H1 s. U6 @•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ( h: j2 F7 m2 @: t( L  o7 y) A
effectively and positively represent the association;
0 L+ D9 p4 D! n! J
2 g# t, `- J6 W: e3 O+ t3 z•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 N) K. B8 L. u' E5 O
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  + A5 F  ?! u7 c! b1 h$ v
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal # z/ \1 f0 t! `5 z' m! `
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ; \3 P; ^/ c; H; {+ P
the forthcoming year;  8 a: S" l! x# k1 D+ L
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical & r! b' P. G( q4 p9 D7 j  }- X3 v
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 3 r( y' h& {# M' |8 R2 Y) A$ T. k$ F
YWCA Canada; and
3 D- B: M( M5 {) y; x% _•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
& h3 w, g# V9 S6 i5 @! v: GForces.  ! e! P* f; ]; H$ t* e" p6 c$ N
  
7 g3 e1 K( W. `0 qRequired Skills & Abilities   r. H7 o. E) N$ @! v4 [! k
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
$ j( r. s* C, V- j. X•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
' k' t1 h' c3 x7 W* g/ Maround decisions, plans and actions; 1 G7 C4 W5 D1 L1 K; v
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
( B0 C) q5 ^$ U6 R/ M! h! E. _8 J•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
. Y4 ]1 H4 [& o2 ]9 [: N  C2 Aand achievable with realistic timeframes;
  [; Z  J! G: g" b6 G" Q•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks $ y, }, L! i& n# }1 Q
simultaneously;
, x# }' L% l- w5 g•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
, p8 ?2 {+ n' `* Hrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 1 ?3 E' V2 c3 |3 n

Required Professional Designation / Certification
; R' ~' o+ x+ c4 z- D•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- l. E" B7 O* k2 }9 R6 I( I
4 z8 A8 [' g3 fRequired Experience
) U# ^) `/ h0 p  V) O•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
7 ^& `5 [( f4 V+ J•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
/ ?& J5 }2 B) _+ p5 v5 h' `$ tabilities; ! L0 k2 L  v4 o! O) u
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 4 m$ g) E# \. s  H7 {' k
Networking and Fundraising; / X& r( I: @) w- ?  K/ U
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
7 @# s& |% _+ L1 z! R& R* Jand financial statements; and
9 X: O$ n# U4 B; u$ |4 ?0 u•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
