this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
( `7 ~. N' p* t) s! |3 I' B1 CEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
5 h/ `2 h# l1 w$ F3 M; S7 ~execution of the YWCA Strategy
( g4 R* p! G/ D( d
3 w  j) o8 D  ~/ M2 w* k- LSpecific responsibilities include:  
0 j) z3 k9 X! @# n8 b
/ z/ W4 H% q% Z4 y2 X8 t•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
5 ^& c4 m8 t- A( U" k4 y! mthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
0 }" d1 {2 v( S9 @7 O% qthe Board of Directors;  : C$ O# w$ ?- X! _. i/ l) z
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: v2 I# c- T$ B4 L5 L; W# h; n  {* lincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ( v. f2 z7 t1 e; G! a. k: C
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
* R# q7 A! Y& g$ N% U" E•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
/ e& Z( d3 K! B* |" Oobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 8 _3 F: W+ ^  G6 S9 Q2 b. |# U& G! n4 o
the board;  
8 F6 X: [/ R4 P: i+ ^•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
% _$ K7 ], H3 j6 m•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion   |! y  i  J# Q9 w& W: \5 ~! i) \
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
" f, I+ T! X/ ?# G•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
3 G$ ^" p  [& f8 h! w4 \6 Ichanging needs of the organization and community;
  w$ b5 G" U; W9 J•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
7 H9 P9 R8 p# _' d3 x# k. E- \commitments;
( {& d# I" n; T7 [* v  ]•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  9 q* {8 D) ^! K! L" R
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 1 \( V" z. g% H
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  # }- E, v) }- c2 J0 Z
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 1 A2 O' Q# o8 V8 O( b5 R
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
( ?: y* }1 V" T" _% Z, n7 p2 Z( q2 M2 Beffectively and positively represent the association;
4 h8 i+ a+ [" w' w2 C8 p! [3 q; m: p+ N( ?3 b! `& z
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 N4 `# K( h$ C% \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;    ?! P( o/ U( e/ B
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal / v6 R* Y! P$ A) G+ Y- `& z
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED $ r4 j, q! C4 {! K
the forthcoming year;    L& r) M* ^% s# j: _8 O
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
& m' h% {  P1 @practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ' T3 i) x. f2 b1 }
YWCA Canada; and
2 q4 d; o  W  l# T1 {•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 3 ~" ~/ T! M5 l7 |9 I

•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build * {! q1 `6 A  d) ^- y4 k
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 2 y9 g9 I: X* w8 |$ O; {  ~/ Z

Required Experience , a: G5 w: a/ D9 s8 u2 |2 x& {
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 2 c9 b- B7 c& A! A+ ]- ~3 ?
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
: k. ~, s0 T" R" s$ S$ E& N! fabilities;   G) x( I0 {3 L1 ]: k  K
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, + N- A5 w' [- b3 F# S
Networking and Fundraising;
& T! C7 p, I' U0 b3 I9 \•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 8 Y9 P  m8 k2 _: p7 ?0 d8 ]
and financial statements; and 3 H- j* ]! v- T' T7 h, E
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
) c8 Q% T2 J6 P5 I; l( Dcentered perspective.
