execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
2 E( Z1 W* ] Ithe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 8 g+ }: c8 L5 y" {2 O- H& e
the Board of Directors; 5 p9 T; o" a& D# P; s5 `
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
; A7 S. \$ ]9 C: r6 eincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ) ]- N7 G6 G# m ~( t* B
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 H, v7 L4 F, V" N• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 5 w3 T- X ^: q; P; O5 H j
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 7 [# e+ x( f8 s7 b

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ; S( a6 `3 \3 w& U2 ]/ {( w
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 b! O% B/ n& l1 I" n5 N' T. g% c
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
5 z ?2 k5 G) B3 x" B& P6 x• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 3 x$ e2 J3 }" F; n% E2 ]
commitments;

• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) {# l2 I D+ `+ y
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 1 S4 D6 m- _: l- B( d7 h/ x+ Q3 V% E; g
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
) i7 X) q, P1 \: D: T% Y$ o• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
/ w7 v# u! g1 C& S8 p& Seffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
3 [3 Q C3 w4 }, I8 Wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 3 x7 Q$ D5 P5 e6 v T9 G
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 6 i% K2 d8 E* n0 `) V
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 G. ?2 c- D% {! Z/ F
the forthcoming year;
) Z- }9 A- t7 ~& u• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 _1 X% p9 u1 g7 _' A0 m+ Z6 rpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 1 A6 }0 L* T' w. D' b, K
YWCA Canada; and

& k& d7 T- f8 {+ p( B• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
5 U x. E+ h! }2 ]! k6 Y/ W) ~• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
/ L2 p) x% \6 U3 t* Q- m! u• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 u) U, n3 c( H9 [9 v
abilities; . y" L9 Q9 d' B( k# R
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
6 P5 ^+ ?- N6 {Networking and Fundraising; % H5 B/ A' n2 {2 m$ G% T! Q
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
8 T# P0 V) Q# N! @2 t$ w( aand financial statements; and

centered perspective.
