The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
& D8 A: S8 d# [! uexecution of the YWCA Strategy 7 Z9 T* w8 E8 c1 a/ ^
" ^2 U/ ]! u" \6 v* JSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
5 t( I8 S+ H8 `& uthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 8 ~8 C) b+ z4 U
the Board of Directors; ' {0 I% g F x6 u
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
. l' L c s' T8 w6 _& F# m' tincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
/ }6 F+ ~7 f: ~2 n, o" Xenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; }& K; ^7 n3 e* U/ E# A
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% @$ ~2 P% R! Nobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
2 w. g* j+ ~# r, b) Fthe board;
. g+ {9 M. H z' @• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 9 K5 y+ K# Z& n$ h+ m, `4 B' l& R
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion / g0 e3 l' O; ^, [' i
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; " ~0 y: H* o# s# j( g& l5 s2 l
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
: G* j0 p3 H* A& R4 m1 Q8 g. W, vchanging needs of the organization and community;
2 j6 Y2 H" R1 }2 M8 P• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 5 `6 A! o: f: K& J, T
commitments; 5 d) I5 }& q0 C- K$ ^3 W8 I7 m6 i
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * r" F& F' Q, b
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 l; M6 u& \) o4 I9 ~" ~
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
/ n6 [+ x( y" N7 e" n9 V! X) }( b2 G• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
# |9 \% W- h, z5 i% Y) M5 J/ n# H4 d• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) p) g) Z2 p# X
effectively and positively represent the association;

- W! N/ C8 d5 ]; n• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 T* B" e! F% O& i0 {9 Z" athe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 y1 `3 N; k: m0 ?% d& g* E/ L! v• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& i& I1 X1 c! N, m: N: x: T' @performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 C8 _5 f7 } g8 Z" W6 i; Z5 ~
the forthcoming year; : t6 I& g/ Q) H% D' J7 ^# D% a: N
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical . M/ e1 H ?& n0 _5 q, a" f+ c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
8 N% C4 o u1 i( d/ y4 F, ~• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' _4 F# D+ @( M5 q8 p% o• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
/ q9 e: ~) |+ o( C r/ d/ Labilities;
, V0 l6 @4 Y" z1 L+ x% |• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
: D: |* a3 a! DNetworking and Fundraising;
