this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
! F6 n' b: p  UEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
& ]3 w' c: Y+ P, i$ A" o# Oexecution of the YWCA Strategy % J; O/ h5 x3 Q" p6 R
4 Z# P: z# B" u2 {1 [. l
Specific responsibilities include:  ) S1 `8 L8 e1 L  l7 C: o4 V! c$ z
* |: N. U1 \! @( ^1 F4 h
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of $ S+ d/ U3 k. @" Y0 n0 _
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by $ W' P% ?) f$ h* h$ {7 }' }
the Board of Directors;  
6 [, m0 s- O1 n; n& ^$ u•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& D- v, T; M' G7 {$ Zincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 0 b* J4 y8 n( `! g
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
4 r, d$ Q% _) z% z6 R8 `( p•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
4 Z+ u: [9 L7 [! l* tobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " A5 C4 b1 f/ ?
the board;  ' `  j  L2 [$ U3 y  e( M
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  & r5 x! X0 j2 J) E1 i" d  \
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
3 n! L: Y1 _# othe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 2 e$ K* z+ @4 s' E9 Z% U- }# l
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
7 D# ~# a" w: B1 T# ?6 b4 wchanging needs of the organization and community;   c6 e% J, s, s; }1 w
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue $ i, F: Q0 J% x' |2 m' ~
commitments; 9 Y- r3 p: @& ?8 w5 {  @, Q% G) S
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
  `# I1 m# @4 }: {8 b•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) A, g- `, D; h: Kselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  2 A) P8 B  S8 z( ^
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , {! D) E- ^7 Q" u
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
- _9 w0 s6 m6 O6 G9 Meffectively and positively represent the association;
! p5 |6 P% Z8 j/ U$ D! x9 c& v
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ; n% q) O, u4 x% T. n
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
6 R0 r; h3 X, t; V5 F•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- H7 S! C1 j  v, i: E: A' Dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
" v( K1 m( n2 h6 J8 F: i, u/ sthe forthcoming year;  
0 v: W4 d) Y" N9 X•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: {+ t7 T0 I3 jpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
6 @. S$ ~5 |$ [0 l7 Z2 k* lYWCA Canada; and
- }) c# ?" I% b' @: e4 X& U, z•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task : g; b4 G) d! [

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; - h" A9 g3 L5 U: |- Q* v% r: [; `# w- m
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 2 t( j9 S7 S% G! P

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 6 h* a+ k" n# i

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification $ ^: E7 m1 p" u& W, \, X# h
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : {% v1 y+ R' R; s/ O0 K
$ J" G& L8 S" q' R* c9 @9 K: x
Required Experience   A! r# w& K$ ?! ^) c+ u7 U& @! E
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 6 W. r7 @( M- U. L4 g$ Y( o4 c
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# E2 D' M+ J( F' U7 B+ cabilities;
9 ?( v+ u% H& m•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
. K  I$ K3 x% a& F2 {Networking and Fundraising; 6 E7 G! \0 ^: m2 ?* t  `
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
1 I6 p. I& o" t6 g* band financial statements; and . B# |! u5 t7 I6 X3 g
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ! E- A$ \) g7 K+ S& w  E
