this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
0 ~8 m) Q8 N: `  h$ l1 w7 vEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 3 f& K4 {6 ]# C* Y' o- x9 d
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities
8 K: L3 y7 @$ o$ Y+ F) a
4 Z$ @, Z& g7 ]" w/ F" S: |/ oReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 8 _# C2 D/ g5 ~# h7 P& i
execution of the YWCA Strategy
1 I% g3 b3 Z' S' D) g% I
. [; L# I3 n( O4 K6 TSpecific responsibilities include:  $ w0 P( @$ V3 i! G; w
+ Y4 ~$ i$ o& h# `( {
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 Y0 Q1 U9 c% {2 |the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by / g1 z% y% [2 u( W1 s
the Board of Directors;  
, g$ k, t0 K: O$ a•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations / Z. \' x0 R& a, m/ [
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 ^! ~9 N4 V0 h0 s
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
8 A# E4 S2 R; t•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
8 O6 J4 b, D8 K( t7 Iobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ! Q: F3 e3 N) v% w7 j
the board;  + s% Q/ T* r8 i* z: `
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  * l, n1 J; l$ h: L
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 Z8 }5 v6 M6 p4 }' Q( R( L4 Lthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
4 ]) Y- F: ?" Y- W1 S•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% c* ~# Z; c- D% v( ]  Tchanging needs of the organization and community; ; ]! G" o/ j5 x8 d8 W% w" T6 f
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 d; b, I. T. M; ]
commitments;
' m6 j( m3 Y7 c* ^! h•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  " V2 @- d1 l1 {1 |
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) Q8 Z0 M8 @+ o
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
7 K9 K( g3 J6 K, R% z+ U•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 o: d# p2 ^) o! l0 `•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# p0 C) n/ c4 [/ |3 teffectively and positively represent the association;

8 G4 q' I3 ^$ ?1 V  s0 {•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ' ]& [4 @5 ]7 `/ T( j
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
) ?  E/ l, x" X0 p•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
! X: f9 i; D* M% \' T" \( ?, Wperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
* a3 z! h6 J2 e0 q: ~the forthcoming year;  
. L: ~% Z$ N/ R& j: A8 N. H•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 D: O5 q; [# epractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of   _2 l# g* P1 d- g8 V
YWCA Canada; and
7 x+ g5 _" P" N! h% [•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
. }( a' S0 u  d" T: uForces.  ( |. t$ G1 p- I0 v. h; ]# S2 D
  $ J' g2 U+ f1 T9 y$ E; |. h
Required Skills & Abilities
, B- E5 t0 c& J" u, M6 z/ a4 |% R  g•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
) x, X" P/ U. u0 s( q7 x•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus % ^; M5 P0 `+ b7 A- a
around decisions, plans and actions;
+ h4 M3 W' p/ X" I( I•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 7 C; f( d; y+ N1 I! D( \' r- w
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 0 `; O5 C- K# G9 n
and achievable with realistic timeframes; + G6 L/ Q% @, K; N& J3 I
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
; ?& c& T' M& o) n/ z. ^simultaneously;   ]+ U% b' K( e% u
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
- e& K' U  g7 N/ brapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; ; U- \7 e9 e4 i; p! F# N7 q+ w
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
0 }- {5 s/ L( h7 ]•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : ~- |+ S' _, H2 ^* P+ K. h' }  s

' H- x5 R0 i" t& r) o* PRequired Experience
8 f. c/ `- Q& ~2 C; l•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 N5 t7 m* Z3 u1 x$ H& Y•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation , o  @& X! }; A  W6 r, Y3 C2 y4 x" k* L
abilities; ' \+ [( Q/ S# e9 j/ n+ k& B
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 G& d% U' P8 Y7 M
Networking and Fundraising;
( G+ k* B1 p' T& Z2 D6 U; a0 w•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 4 p' Y: x: I9 @
and financial statements; and ! b( o$ r8 x: W  h
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women / [& ]( r: _$ x1 Y$ c
