The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 8 Y0 J ~6 \7 n0 x. ^/ B" ^* X4 P
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
! T1 n$ a/ O" h3 [3 Q5 fthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 H f; t9 l6 t6 W7 i& U# ]! {
the Board of Directors; . _9 s, w) b- W7 J+ y7 _3 G2 y& G8 h
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations / w9 z0 c$ Z% g( [ |9 \
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ a9 U+ q: n3 l& }enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
]/ T `, b& T% S+ V6 n% s• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ) F0 z1 U6 E# T& x
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 2 _0 ?0 l- i8 H M# a
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
- b+ _: r& g9 ~2 J( Rthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
+ [$ @, Q1 c6 `( c8 k1 g; D; m/ [• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 2 O, w5 X2 h9 j. ]6 Y
changing needs of the organization and community; 5 a: J& K: [$ Q; F+ z4 b3 ?
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % I' ^; O3 j! C4 b4 w2 M
commitments; $ h! w) M3 r9 I% `
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * j; o- j- D8 i" |3 Y, Z/ W/ a$ a5 p
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 2 B% ^2 U7 W# L/ n: C' V: y
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
) e; f8 e& v) q; g3 r/ N• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 y- I9 U+ p1 t: }" h' C
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 l* P7 v8 c# A$ B' [
effectively and positively represent the association; " K9 j* Q5 [4 j9 r; `! O, V
0 F5 d2 X# v6 L9 [0 H; f• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% l8 `' u, n7 K+ j2 e! I5 tthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
7 I4 s. k$ ^1 W; ?- H7 U: j* S7 }• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 2 W3 T! E( u- N- i3 C0 o! u
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 C# M3 p e" ]7 ~' n
the forthcoming year; 2 R$ ]9 M$ r: P& n' x$ I5 T' l( d
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- }1 n4 H& J/ N5 B3 S* y8 V% ppractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
5 t; x2 Q" V. u! S: {8 X4 GYWCA Canada; and 1 Z" @' z1 N( f" f7 B
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
* m/ ^! @) }7 q• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 3 H5 |$ h( l2 W' d/ J, g+ K
9 A4 O; c1 c* s" o/ cRequired Experience
5 Y H/ V2 e4 I6 d• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 q+ E1 U5 ^% d' e+ m% `+ Z2 c% }
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
5 y4 Q8 M$ s6 a4 \0 \abilities; : v9 N3 i2 t. K' W
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
g5 u0 E# W4 iNetworking and Fundraising; ) i8 V) J, T2 F* M0 T. E- v5 I
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 0 g0 A2 V, t8 z
and financial statements; and * k/ x$ [2 z! S; ^5 Y) g
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
