The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic , V$ s; c2 c8 f
thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% {+ m7 N/ p5 z2 R, D6 uexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 8 |* P0 z4 g/ |
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by : w: @2 b# J4 _0 @
the Board of Directors; $ f, u/ j5 p# _6 w
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 U/ H9 F* g. X6 D |including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
: h2 \; O( E: }: c& @3 F; Venable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- J% k4 E1 v$ v- M• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
9 r6 G. i* |* s- ]3 t/ E" Robjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
- S1 U% P8 E, t) S Y• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ; z/ e H7 `- k# x
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; , h" u1 M1 Q; r. j% A2 u- O9 ^$ I& K
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; G$ c7 R1 H1 L6 Y4 l
changing needs of the organization and community;
$ u; P- t, u( [( J$ m% E, l• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

; N3 f4 P* g* l! r4 _8 G• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ( I* _. L& G6 z0 Z& ~
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # v; v) R: x/ p! M% M i
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 7 n' D2 k: m: y5 G. r6 X* A& H! ^8 o+ D
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

& N9 j- G% C! E) b: o# {6 K2 c T• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
, T% J; O7 ^3 a6 hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
1 W I( T6 r# H- x: B1 X• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ) r+ W+ N6 i$ ?) w& J- d
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! B- ~, w- | C3 q; w* K6 y8 upractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
* J1 c% v' N& X, h. d* l! B' H% f% QYWCA Canada; and ( B; W4 r" y5 F3 B
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
0 n u; b' F. o: W( |• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. $ M P7 Y* D7 r- B$ E1 A3 A0 {

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
8 _1 Q/ ~" e! r, n• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 M0 S: v- m9 b) z b7 ^/ X
abilities;
: _ B) g+ m) i" |• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting * r v( g' L- X* Q4 F5 F" K* a
and financial statements; and
