Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
& A/ D# x" c8 L; R% `, W' Rexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of # @2 z) d# N3 H2 r
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! R. p4 K9 b" k" I0 Z! X* G% M7 ]5 S
the Board of Directors; & W) [) w& [7 j) J7 N
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: s& @6 k, L3 }including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# f/ c. S. {- L. benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 6 d A" [* ]+ ^/ B+ c) i/ A
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and - u; c, w, J: J) V S! ^+ I3 Q4 n
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by + _ s; G$ f# [0 K S

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
1 B$ h) x l1 m# K• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
( S9 i2 o& s6 z7 c6 Y+ K k% Kthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
6 v+ J8 E5 @5 U' h9 s• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
# K/ W4 x5 o, ?changing needs of the organization and community;
! X7 B$ P5 h9 e- j• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

4 z8 J) u# e# T: w% L+ }% M, q• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; , }, s# }' N9 c" p* L
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " Q+ K' Z+ M# w: c- l+ C; O
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 4 U. }& t* z" v9 U, i0 d# H" m
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , B3 I( Z( w: P
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % Q' T; A6 i% O1 A: @; j$ j: F- @& O
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' Y7 `3 x0 p. C0 Vthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
# s2 }' O4 C+ }• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ! C, D! ?9 ?- {, Q$ w, a1 C% a
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED + F* ~4 E' A2 u1 v, B w. l4 _
the forthcoming year;
" P( M6 _9 Q p# O, j• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 3 z& B$ T6 X, m% E- G. k
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ) Y7 e* M, X8 L) I l3 J; {) ~* [

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; , T* l/ u4 Y+ M
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation . _% g: k. O: B1 K8 Z
abilities;

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
