0 [: f( Q/ |1 N5 [/ E: ` f$ yReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 9 U6 s' D* L. M; u# M1 a* c
execution of the YWCA Strategy i& x+ y$ m) T6 N6 l
v! ~+ \$ Z% jSpecific responsibilities include:

4 z( v, {! j2 v v: O+ I: [• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% L5 K! ?2 U: ^; H7 j6 J, Othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! X' ~4 {0 g0 b% O8 x
the Board of Directors; ; z3 T$ \' u O' p2 M
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations * Y5 j) p9 y$ M
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 ?/ Z% m8 X& W$ u; O, `5 w
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
+ T1 W: J' @4 f# n9 x• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and & c" V# U |5 r8 @( Y+ V4 l: ^9 y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

7 ^ _+ t) i r• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 0 Z8 T) j8 b) }) l1 f* j. n8 J
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
" C2 q/ ]( A; ^- V& n9 Z5 @3 Hthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; / w' Q* d+ B; [ ?+ z" Q8 I: z
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ! |0 w2 c* z# t8 {' q2 O! n
changing needs of the organization and community; 8 D4 c5 r& V4 D2 X2 P
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 9 O9 L2 b. B" j# a0 Z" O7 h
commitments;
0 H7 l6 G/ [' A& H7 T, Y* u• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 M0 K3 `; Q! u
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / y* `* e0 p. }1 q
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% I( D; m3 `9 K2 ?• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 M3 D- Z; T& E* ^' d• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. m+ A' v( `8 ?0 ~+ `8 ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks; * y' p& M- D, `! z# W- m
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
* |5 r# b1 V9 I) Q {performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
, n. r9 E! }8 |7 j( T, Sthe forthcoming year; 9 B+ J% r2 H! v; M2 W
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
7 |2 L- G' J: |6 }- ]/ ?3 n P& @practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; U8 o- Q' U5 A" y# F KYWCA Canada; and
7 |" r/ w1 S6 S2 F' Z• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

and achievable with realistic timeframes;

Required Professional Designation / Certification ) K' z# d, C8 c1 e8 w4 `( e
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. & Y1 ]) _- i A6 v/ {, k
3 G4 c* v+ U6 \) E" K) C: iRequired Experience
2 ]2 P4 C& Y( O• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; * @( |, f/ n: m2 N3 k+ A
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
* W) \& W6 p( y( i/ z f! _; Kabilities;
, w: d. q( C7 X8 F; Z• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting , D& P% W( s+ O! |9 o4 e
and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
