Responsibilities

execution of the YWCA Strategy " A; ^( }$ \1 c3 Q

Specific responsibilities include: 6 b4 l; r" P. z5 `
! |1 h0 l h8 _( [. s• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
+ P2 I9 @3 N# y7 ` Y1 Z, {+ u7 Lthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 s% {1 X# Y5 k6 e7 @; }' _& ], zthe Board of Directors;
/ p$ p" R5 } Y/ i• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 0 J" }0 T/ k! `# B* M
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& W8 a. ~9 ?6 V0 l% |: P& h: Uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- x3 U9 q5 j# i R• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and . |4 v, ]8 Y7 c% h
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; N/ V$ y! w0 E4 T2 P2 C. e
the board;
# [" G& B# }8 F6 D5 Z2 M/ i9 w• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; # E% e8 K2 u" y, }$ o' V
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion : z& `% j1 r" A
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) f. \1 A% X! k• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
7 |" M7 l" a: f* L; [changing needs of the organization and community;
7 w" {0 T# j# X4 o. w5 c• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
( n! h0 H8 q3 K2 B' M9 {' b3 L0 Ncommitments; 2 p q' o9 r- ?6 y8 W C& E
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
" q$ t! Z5 D4 m• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' L- B1 P% E4 C, j
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
' A( Z1 C+ v+ }/ m8 R# _" w• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 d7 {: ?. ]- A& k, ~% T1 h• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to # S) `0 s. J$ E/ r/ z; B9 e3 Y
effectively and positively represent the association; % N9 O7 O) b/ O+ W1 Z
! m9 B4 l" Q* Q1 s4 p e• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring # w4 W$ H* M- y, V6 t( q% c( \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 6 D/ w. ]/ N2 l3 a: K. U
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
! R1 Q; x/ o$ J9 ?& `7 l* f. xperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) L- B1 F2 O; O' q; U
the forthcoming year; ' t! k0 D, S7 {# O
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 1 ~4 o- D9 V- _: K
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 8 i g4 T M) T7 t8 [
YWCA Canada; and 9 T5 [/ d& O, K) G1 k
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; + [3 z4 _8 z: q/ N9 E U$ g
• Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus

• Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

• Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

# z" C7 q! n9 l• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ K! g* e; C) Z, d3 Y0 f3 |
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
* H1 ]( I+ H2 @' yabilities;
' o6 U+ y& t( x5 h2 u: C. X/ z• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% {& ^$ r, _+ SNetworking and Fundraising;
" v' Q! L* q' d- J• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
/ y4 F$ A( L; _' o. w- Uand financial statements; and
+ {6 |! C+ X0 U& A• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women / q+ _$ j( `# h
centered perspective.
