Responsibilities

: `( R- |$ F& U; w# o• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
4 H1 F6 ^$ p4 m$ |3 P' Cthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ' j( b3 |$ { ^5 r9 s# Y. q
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to * l5 `6 B) x( x2 n9 @" j. b
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 8 f r! e( J$ o: C+ g9 O
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
7 _. j$ A7 ~! X F- a5 uobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
! _3 ~/ f( l, Zthe board;
! B G- M( J0 C+ A• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
9 J0 ?, Z: g R• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion y, X" O8 B+ Q6 S7 F, a* ?7 V# _
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 [# B6 ?& p" k5 a$ I: }: w• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # P/ E" `( p3 f
changing needs of the organization and community; 7 ]" K5 n' d# O' x& a9 c
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
: }8 ~: I. h& y: b5 Xcommitments; 9 n. ^1 v. |8 C. g& w# d. s
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; " p! q7 M: u8 ^+ O6 q5 F( P
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
$ M" v' c7 @% c& ?. `selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 6 [9 L" ?; l; K; ]. @
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
+ v9 K7 @! z' i: r9 J' M• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) ]8 D# Q# G) m! ^8 Y2 Q# |
effectively and positively represent the association; " y% S9 A) E# f2 I5 \ l
* N) U" f: ]$ c' N• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
9 d& w( V. s) N2 X7 Z1 [the implementation of systems to manage these risks; k: r) Y5 q! A5 ?) @9 m
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
$ W" {: B- n4 O# n* P" Dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
: c5 H$ p% A( n3 l, lthe forthcoming year;
% s+ F- D+ |/ P ` m6 B• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ( e* R* E6 h4 ?- Q# M& D: A0 s
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of * k% A8 V$ t5 b' P5 Y" q
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
+ O) F& J) [$ I) `% w• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 8 ~+ a7 v8 J" q0 `3 z

Required Experience " e p0 f; Y, x; U
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; + z( l8 C& p$ z6 T5 E% C, T& O
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
& h: v+ R1 H$ C! F: {. Kabilities; / f/ d0 N! J& y# f) o3 ~8 o2 k
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
) T' \0 S1 k- ?Networking and Fundraising;
' _% @ U! }8 l& [% q2 z: h• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 3 d z5 K2 o+ N1 ^3 p# J
and financial statements; and
