The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

' u9 }) v# f2 Y# O/ a3 z! {; m• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ( [. s) x' h; M
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 X8 Y1 f r5 A% `) ~3 {; M
the Board of Directors; 3 N4 P7 l0 S0 b8 I+ v
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 Y1 y$ V" N* K1 H, f! @$ `
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 B9 Z* P5 A3 l# ^. E$ Cenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 2 o& `) t$ w: t2 M2 z: ]+ ]
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ [* W+ Q: K( ^objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by : P/ t% ]8 E5 J3 }! f0 G- S
the board;
& }+ t9 {' F; A9 B/ A0 S• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 2 n' L! A* v! C. Q2 J9 f
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
* w8 R: k3 N8 ~# g5 `3 sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
5 J: [" h7 L5 y6 l1 `• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
& m6 s F$ c X5 ~/ N2 p6 cchanging needs of the organization and community; b3 w! L8 } ]0 I4 P
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) R/ E, z; g( d' E) F/ m( F b6 p0 h
commitments; . @- e# ?6 o! X! q7 L9 q2 H
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 5 k" ]5 @9 U6 y
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : |# r* v& a5 K* `4 ~% w& ~. Q
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; . E8 I% T. q; E: j8 f2 y9 E
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
5 M# e9 Q' f& a k. ?. k• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 1 Y$ n# {+ O4 b0 H
effectively and positively represent the association; ! M2 z5 n# s5 }
P3 o3 L1 k, @" P7 t* J• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
/ Y) m+ }+ B8 L; u, Qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; + s8 N! M" O$ e/ `$ y0 U3 h
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. p! p, R% ^6 v- o3 dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ! W8 E- n o8 f: ?6 N b9 Y2 {
the forthcoming year;
$ e9 t2 m! X6 K: ?5 [9 E• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical + C2 I }' h$ P! [& Y, W& q# L! c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
% e9 @( |8 N, }+ G% N- gYWCA Canada; and " F/ y$ S3 r7 K8 M1 i9 S( H# i' w h, A
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

and achievable with realistic timeframes;

Required Professional Designation / Certification . ` H- t& s( \0 o1 {! E
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
; J* {8 e4 v0 {0 D- w• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
: H% w% m6 ]) A, ]• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : g \) q) ^0 ^( C1 ~
abilities;
( g _+ A2 I$ b; M• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
6 j- H# r0 Y) R; [: a9 h2 t( HNetworking and Fundraising; - E1 ]8 t0 o$ M! K* E
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 3 U: O% _( s, h/ N- ^
and financial statements; and
! U9 Z+ Y* d ?0 d• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ' c( ?$ _# a3 f' S
centered perspective.
