Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 9 Z4 w# `! _; H7 t8 h* r: {2 W4 b
execution of the YWCA Strategy ; ~5 d. |0 W! A5 Q, q
: ]7 Y n, S/ r5 Q" LSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
* [' X5 v+ A" N8 g' L- `the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 5 J5 h; V/ D1 S F# _2 c1 v! m2 D
the Board of Directors;
0 j/ V" q' |4 V/ {0 z+ E P• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
J' D# ^, T2 I% \including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
! h& Y, \, i0 c8 i4 ?enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 7 C9 x' D* b! ?, j3 Z' _. Q: J
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
* U; p1 S( w$ M j: s! j; Aobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
0 k! k/ B8 K' ]( ?. n l' [the board; & V% {2 j3 _$ H
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
+ T1 m B+ B6 p5 P( f% m* k# |• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ( S4 m, |4 a% A$ y _/ g
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) k& R) t2 W( ]4 O) `6 R h• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the + T1 q y# w9 }! Q% L( L
changing needs of the organization and community;
: u1 z# m/ Q: F2 q( ?• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * w( @" Y1 }! ` o* `
commitments; % U0 c/ Z% C E- y. C. z$ r$ t
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
$ P# T4 y" }: A+ P3 g W1 p: a5 n" o• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 u0 W$ I$ O/ T. ]3 c$ Z T
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; : O: S( }$ E9 c2 ~* E& L: s
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 6 e8 o6 v5 {" I" w% T% A0 ^# a
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to $ k& V6 n1 |/ b0 K. D
effectively and positively represent the association; % y( @8 `3 x& s' {3 J
! b, \ G7 m% t V( z/ `• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ) `) ] m/ a9 ^# w
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
# {7 z' U$ {, f& R5 k6 W) H• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
6 `. a4 r; f! c2 ?% z) r( {performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
. m4 t8 X! Q! ~: Q1 f6 uthe forthcoming year;
" g2 z- x1 T* Z6 w) ^9 S3 r• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
; S8 p' n1 }" J8 V3 Lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; b; V& B7 \/ }! c F) b# VYWCA Canada; and g$ u/ Q+ e/ n# M9 _9 z6 q D
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 6 c& j6 y- P3 }/ C; Q9 w

Required Professional Designation / Certification
, f$ ?; r5 U u( h# |• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience # E6 t4 x Y0 q& G" n* Z
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ( `4 ?3 R; ?, |7 N
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
% w5 I K# }9 T) \* gabilities; ' a% T0 s9 T& e7 S0 U3 s: ^, [0 b
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
( I4 k; p) \8 ^8 w( t+ j, M4 CNetworking and Fundraising; 1 _. T6 H+ y8 M2 Q0 Y5 ~- ]
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
6 ^7 b. a6 i$ kand financial statements; and
7 ~. i9 L! ?7 h3 e• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women , x5 @- C& |# k! g
centered perspective.
