Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and * u+ n9 q( X$ E( M$ _
execution of the YWCA Strategy & E6 i x6 {* `: ^
$ f) G# C% x5 p7 Q! Z$ W, aSpecific responsibilities include:

' @% t" X g& A• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of , I9 W5 h F, l- \. E p6 y
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
( Y" L0 N; w$ H4 y0 q& _8 ethe Board of Directors;
" Y3 O0 `. C6 M2 f8 {4 W• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ U5 H4 M1 N& l$ S9 O4 U( Jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
* }7 ~, A( G/ C6 O. zenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ; S5 ^% u4 m7 i
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% }3 ?. d5 ^/ N3 y' gobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & w. U4 v) H5 l( d5 A
the board;
9 m4 k, I; u! }• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; - w: c5 U( r( l9 y! j+ X3 [# W
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 1 \2 r3 m: T( p. x& ] Z& U; b& X
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 7 G2 A2 F$ w* K! D
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; M4 d2 n' a' z! y7 H9 n2 \
changing needs of the organization and community;
) `9 n- E/ [6 \" @$ g* o• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
! u" S) I+ \, P6 M0 B2 y& N% _commitments; & `: u) s# J3 B- ~0 \
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 9 G5 ?1 M* \1 a' V) \7 d. ~% `
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
n# m% h P+ Y7 dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
4 K/ m9 I. G4 r( I# N$ Z• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 r) ?+ \7 D4 p* l: F* N
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 3 E( W8 P* ]) }/ P
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
" n4 u+ x8 h) q9 ethe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
0 a/ ~" u* o: p `6 ]& M+ b9 S7 u• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ) r4 F; G: Y# Y, q# A/ g2 V
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
+ p/ i4 j( {" d6 C8 wthe forthcoming year; 8 }8 \- _$ x$ u* C( {* v
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # Y1 d- {4 ]. k" _( Y( [$ ~! k
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; r# m) e& I6 p* D- I* U
YWCA Canada; and , n/ f& F( D9 t% c
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
/ Y% p! W* D: L: z( }! G• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; }$ I: w+ j g4 `" \0 G; y% M
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation + d; `- O6 L3 {0 n, t. ?( g
abilities;
. P" }8 a4 x' j$ U. N6 H" v• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, # l: P9 G1 G. e& R& z
Networking and Fundraising; O8 E4 ~4 X- M7 @6 P; a
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
& e3 \4 P3 x8 B5 o: X+ }and financial statements; and
