Responsibilities

% V: x/ O4 [1 e, C2 w; R- S, mReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
" Z9 S j) F+ Aexecution of the YWCA Strategy
% j% n: X, }- h. T G! _4 z( Q) C. P/ r U' E# l
Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 9 Z# ]0 S0 y, D3 E
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 F2 W# b5 D0 r: b4 R+ ethe Board of Directors; ?1 Z" Y( l+ l4 q
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* z$ e& H8 ?" F* n/ Oincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 3 a9 V& d+ |1 ]# m* i0 Z- }+ r* L6 ~
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; # [6 @# _ p" q1 B3 {! @
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
+ c) P& u, Q6 G7 e+ N5 uobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
1 w6 M# A+ e6 }$ h1 t: G% N; {the board;
7 V d* b, m% Y% D• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 3 s# z* B# n: i) a! L
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion & O" U0 Y( W+ S3 t
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
4 {0 ]1 q2 w6 _+ O* v• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
( B$ s% z6 k3 Jchanging needs of the organization and community; 2 [2 l1 p1 T0 R7 l
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
% F/ B" `1 i; t) G$ a: l4 c2 y* Bcommitments;
r7 S! q6 ], I1 Y! F• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
8 {' v) S! ]7 }2 Z& v& |% W• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : k: z$ I- D. e9 f G
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ; v8 t( Q: h. S$ ]1 a; \0 D
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
9 s3 I! y( U" W6 \1 e• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
! J; m; S! t/ Weffectively and positively represent the association; % N( w* Y$ o* v# E6 g: u
" `0 m1 Z% u7 g: x C' Q; |• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& y \# F8 J$ x: B- Othe implementation of systems to manage these risks; $ L: B' V6 ~5 u
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % z0 b" }% A2 K) x5 I
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
3 ~/ F( d& U+ h1 r; ithe forthcoming year; . ]8 z( t2 X) i
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
* D" n7 l7 L2 K: \% u6 xpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; D6 x9 J# n0 oYWCA Canada; and 9 ~+ A$ {$ P4 M* R$ q7 k! P, o
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 5 ~4 X( M5 n; W5 |+ }

Required Professional Designation / Certification
& P1 o d [, Q4 K& G/ R [! D• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

; i# k; n8 i6 u O7 D, U; U0 h$ P• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
7 D# c7 k [, W$ r7 c5 K( R# I• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ( L" @1 a/ J6 H% L3 K* d
