this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
; n; Y! O( N/ q7 R- o- m7 ~Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
2 b# c" Y4 n0 Y' Sexecution of the YWCA Strategy

: h* \- r7 k, r$ O: h4 \/ nSpecific responsibilities include:

# C2 Z  J+ |& g' F5 l, N. C•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
) m. x+ m# z5 t5 f, Q& b/ hthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
* g* T9 U# y; c* rthe Board of Directors;  + |; O0 \, a( k. E. b6 [; q! Z
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ |0 N" u: O( ?* P+ `5 a0 U0 jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ! [( u; {$ Z9 D) O# S: F
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 ?3 O) }# X( p0 H: m•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : F; ^* G/ m8 Z* `. j/ `& z2 v5 Z
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 F" N+ G2 T' V7 j8 h- i
the board;  # A& ^7 @, T! u3 L& A4 z. S* H
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
6 S0 g. J+ f8 x* D- p2 q•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
/ j" v, T- t/ mthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 r' X3 p0 h* E2 A$ {6 `$ g•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 6 t  y! Y/ y  l# U  ^- ]6 S- P
changing needs of the organization and community; - L5 e/ t/ ~1 u5 S/ J# Y( l
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
! F2 b/ }( r  j. [commitments;
9 o) T2 P3 S4 k9 }% ?( {' L- u1 E•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
3 T: q9 g/ \& }3 n) D  C•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective * Y/ R/ @( r  m  W. i! U2 P" s. @
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
' N! Z6 p! U( ~* x•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 b+ p7 o; r0 x; `7 Y! i
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to / _- [" ~0 E; `9 S6 r9 {
effectively and positively represent the association;

+ X( i( a6 q" k. z3 ~+ V•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ! G2 c( e3 A+ z& p
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
& k5 J& H  G4 T9 p% \5 ]- m•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
1 G/ F& Y; k) B6 U8 gperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 E# P& A0 o+ U& J) x
the forthcoming year;  7 v0 {$ r! t7 R& D/ W1 t: e
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical   Q" B) ?5 a' k, t7 b1 g$ B
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
- `6 h! P8 g2 g+ D6 Z" l' t% q) OYWCA Canada; and
2 B8 [9 F, [; {' i& v•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task   j$ V. @. ~4 |" r$ Z

Required Skills & Abilities

' ?3 Z$ j- C; w: `3 O•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 4 _$ V+ l; N6 ~1 ~5 |8 V. x
around decisions, plans and actions;
% L5 D7 j) A/ M, E" X•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
' _2 i$ g, e" o8 }•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable : p, X( P+ S, I, I3 ^
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 4 Y  c2 X( Y( _4 K' a
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
5 i" c( @: F* M" ksimultaneously;
. c! L$ P% C+ Q/ q•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
3 @- V, \; c+ n& S3 crapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; + `6 h% G7 T" l4 d

•  Superior negotiation skills.

( L! q- A! J7 i Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 Y# a* |4 w% H5 f. n5 w•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. # j( r) I' \: G6 g" X

1 L/ ?5 L6 o4 xRequired Experience
/ |: e9 L& n1 f2 x& g7 E+ D•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% {% g2 l7 |8 z) f' e•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 N" `! Z+ v5 a- T8 j4 n# m. @
abilities;
$ [$ U- T/ F( e( h# V4 C) d•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, $ ]$ |, B+ Q4 @& T" l" S" u
Networking and Fundraising;
0 h# W( z' f  _' j+ E9 ?$ N* `•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
