The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

. F/ `# A) ^9 ^2 e• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % @( {7 ^% r9 E: X X# m
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 1 s, `& U7 H8 x' B. @+ z
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ l0 ~/ |; o/ O8 q. Venable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( ^5 a; C7 y7 d7 i• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
4 o& u5 X+ h5 K6 C$ q6 d0 Iobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by # X! A( G+ H1 X# d; E p

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 9 _; M7 U, k5 K- @
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
- w5 {: g8 Z1 B, [the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: A! v4 j/ m1 s" S• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the b6 R0 U9 f0 ?' e
changing needs of the organization and community;
2 C' m. e( ~& q& O• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % i6 B- L' V/ ~+ Q
commitments;
1 W& D& O5 N) N: V5 ^• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
4 y2 P9 L7 _! D• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 2 U) K# g4 V- J" F/ z2 i9 k& q
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
; I1 j' X; C; y* T' j+ t4 A+ u( k• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
. \1 X: S+ x0 a1 S# E% F• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) q$ n2 |9 }0 R' P7 w% g* F

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring & }8 y. n4 v P" y4 l. E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 m0 {+ u9 i& ]* s: G2 [• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' M. x" h8 O* t2 G4 G* k
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED * `% v9 Y& i* G( d! d- ~
the forthcoming year; 5 O% @1 H' C" I* z
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- V8 f( H9 u( u* I/ u# Kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of j7 x( t3 P; w: i* A2 G
YWCA Canada; and 6 T* M; u; n* s
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
9 P0 r; U8 k, r9 O9 [Forces.

and achievable with realistic timeframes;

9 U: D: W2 e. e, ^" _• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ! Q5 @4 p/ p" u& E8 p7 ~3 ]
1 M9 Y: e7 r7 QRequired Experience % _0 D* P. O/ j9 C3 X
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
# y/ M: }8 [$ h" m' Q% k; ?• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 a/ j/ Y% v# B; @
abilities;
# J, I1 Q2 r; W7 F# v• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
( e( O6 H! \) _4 K" \ d( DNetworking and Fundraising;
+ {9 G, [, |5 @3 P• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting " t o" e' j' T3 L3 z* ~* I
and financial statements; and
