Responsibilities

' R, G" B+ F5 h' e) \Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
+ s; m {3 v/ [execution of the YWCA Strategy

K. F- T" ~ n$ `9 D5 n• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' Q! U" c) `* S+ Gthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by : e; T5 w7 ^# a1 n# G) @$ R6 _
the Board of Directors;
* a7 J. Y7 W1 r; z& R1 }• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , u6 h- h, ~/ U3 T L9 l
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to , L$ _, x8 E/ I8 f n
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
) }( P& F8 i9 M+ U$ _• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and & f3 |, f3 R6 ]8 {* B% q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

) d" f( t A0 g, I: f W• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 0 P2 W; \. U, A6 q B/ d
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; v/ O% {( N- d9 t! {6 dthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; " G: L/ f3 c, Z, X) c2 I0 d/ y
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the & q8 R; G* A. Q$ \, b, {+ {
changing needs of the organization and community;
! E+ C& x5 Z% \8 A# q• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. m- u" N- @+ Gcommitments; % H# ~# u' A; I/ m6 M! l
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
. N: k) j0 r9 ^5 U/ |3 A! I5 \• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
C. m6 a; X0 s. r6 ]2 Tselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
0 ~2 ~( b& `6 i/ D; W/ }5 Q• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 z& W9 A4 E/ {4 @; [* E3 |
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to , n. l8 y! r1 F. U5 O) D( X
effectively and positively represent the association; ' P, t O: R+ l1 C& @% ?0 U
! e% v- Z& l" |5 Q) T$ [& E' X• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring d% j" t3 K, S; S! i
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
4 L% O( D/ t$ e, J% X• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
+ i7 L( p$ k5 V2 `8 Uperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! h4 k/ n9 X [+ L' B5 Tthe forthcoming year; 6 W* K2 V; y+ L! ? N8 t
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' v/ s. o' a( F
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 1 Y5 u4 Q$ Q# @0 [+ F* x8 j1 Q+ q+ {! P# p
YWCA Canada; and

7 N& C6 i9 \* G0 f• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 n) {9 e& C8 X0 |• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 3 L) a; |) G6 v9 C( q3 a
