The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities

execution of the YWCA Strategy ( U5 v( s9 F5 P

Specific responsibilities include: L% B d) i! ^, r

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
& |) _$ B, p: a# i4 A x2 N6 kthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! B/ d$ X! q' [9 C6 }' M! Y
the Board of Directors;
6 O1 K4 f+ h0 b• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
0 a, X1 N/ j) u7 nincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# o; R2 U& l7 u$ D: B2 X& jenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 5 Z3 F. U2 J+ c) Q1 B2 B
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
1 ], |* G6 O( ?8 v) `9 Q6 fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by # x- ]2 P' S1 l* F! {6 k2 A
the board;
" h$ R i" e9 i# p* n# ^• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 7 t: |1 B/ S9 o
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
( o m) T5 g% ?6 u( b8 lthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # j( _ p: o) M" |, ?% n' h/ Q
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

: C- s8 U4 \% }# L. u- O' [• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

; S) h$ D) l- d6 g7 q: @• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
# C4 U0 ]* p' H& Y. t+ b$ g# r8 w, x• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " A: D- G. Y0 a" H6 w% A# P
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 8 |, F; E3 J; s l+ _
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( Y- G$ e3 S2 W3 _( L
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

3 z0 }1 j. I3 b/ O2 J; r. D8 x• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 6 }5 C$ d& X$ D, d, B/ t" U: x
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
, K/ F1 b- P) k S% c1 q& R• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 2 b* p& g- {& ]9 B0 p, e6 o
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED / E. r' k% ] g7 L- g% y+ b/ M
the forthcoming year; # r8 h7 M9 d; H
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
+ \2 |6 i2 |! Q5 J/ {' Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
( z1 C9 f8 ]+ P: \• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
* l1 [' J+ U7 |• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
7 `- D& v! |5 |) i9 D9 c: zabilities; ! c* j# D! m! |# @! I
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
/ r+ P1 y$ A( b3 a/ ~Networking and Fundraising; ' v' V# L) a' z9 m) t
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
3 @" ~% o% h, s/ ^5 land financial statements; and $ p% s# S) O$ X3 t
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women & ^" F! |9 }; b
centered perspective.
