Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

1 u, j( |/ _6 f7 Q/ U• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of . A( T. v% k1 _* Q5 D0 B
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ z0 B! b# E0 | s9 U7 q' aincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
1 u- Y7 O) k9 W2 [% B3 {5 U% Jenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; / r2 J( ?) }' m# G% F) i$ W0 H
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ! n" |( B: o' X
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
1 t7 m+ v2 ?( R ~& cthe board;
6 v7 ]2 W+ U" x' b: o8 Z• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
" q. Y7 @& D) o# O; c. z3 L• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 0 `+ n+ |- K5 S6 ?# h( E. M' i
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
3 h$ n0 h- L2 v6 U& {& @+ @- s0 f1 w• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ( s1 H# ^% ]- Y, {- [: u& O
commitments;
) t+ }2 l, ^6 G/ T$ D: N$ {• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; $ i: f" m0 q* y: p: m% b& H
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
$ Z& z0 Z2 E, o) i8 Cselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 0 i* e8 K7 y& Q; o+ O2 ]
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
$ K* \/ B0 _+ o; F Z8 ~• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
+ v. b7 C( z1 ceffectively and positively represent the association; 2 m# f b+ U$ K3 i9 g0 o

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ! p" Z# w+ K Z0 H0 E; {
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ( T9 \' O- ~, V5 o0 P' ]# l/ Q
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
6 u* u+ ?1 q6 x2 O- `performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) \- p1 d3 n7 K' g& B9 v
the forthcoming year; + `: N8 N" r* m; y3 g
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 7 l4 Q9 ~" j1 H1 o
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 7 ^ f. [! v7 N
YWCA Canada; and
9 H5 k7 R4 q& ~- z: [. b• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
1 ~. K( R4 v# \$ t4 |& R• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
) ]$ P' _' e. I0 E4 ]• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ( z- I6 O% L$ C" u
abilities; % E" S; K+ p" u
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ( E% ]; ~) W% k, i& t
Networking and Fundraising;
$ J7 q& o5 M. w7 R• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . h# d5 j3 \5 ^
and financial statements; and , K; f( `% V6 P# @& b0 [+ e" b
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
