The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ( P9 X5 t$ Y. z7 ~& A
execution of the YWCA Strategy 7 k y( k) j, {/ A) L
+ D+ @; K, Z( K2 OSpecific responsibilities include:

$ `: L' |: l. e: p6 P• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ( h$ @; ^6 ?% M4 b
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 Q# i4 u' q/ Q8 i3 ~
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
3 A& L, R$ S+ B/ t8 Henable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 0 v9 t5 u- k/ a+ s3 g
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and - B8 o* m2 ?7 r4 r8 W; Y# J
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
+ F* E9 U# Z5 K- b& g3 m7 Gthe board;
6 ]! y; k7 d% V: ]+ T% ~/ A( W1 V• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
q6 u& g$ o$ c G+ n* l• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
: R0 R: |) I% r! n2 n/ x4 bthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
3 |0 f/ e" L" w( W$ ?• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

6 \( Y7 j* v$ q& v8 Q% T• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ; p5 n. P! |* ]! q! K- q
commitments;
; `% q p+ U0 t• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 x- |0 J; J9 E" a0 X( ?
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ }1 o- |! B4 X6 Oselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
" [9 Z3 a! q' ?" c4 o1 i• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 2 ~' o, {9 I& v5 H6 @7 H
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to - u/ g' d- ] N; ?: D. y
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 V# D0 A% T2 {7 |9 t& U3 ^9 T# d
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ( Q6 q8 S S8 @2 Z' D+ o
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
O6 m& w, ^! f6 R- @performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
) y" r9 z9 j! Z$ k9 r6 g! cthe forthcoming year; , G" [, d2 Y5 D0 Y) L
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
7 q+ f9 b1 x9 J l8 Hpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
6 { B3 b' T8 ~$ gYWCA Canada; and 1 K) j+ u% z, `, Y; q/ p/ I
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification 8 t/ H3 f* l( t
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 5 V' i% Y, n% \2 j* y$ p

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
7 @$ y7 _1 k2 [• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation . U7 D' @! p7 ?4 H
abilities;

Networking and Fundraising;
