The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: ; \- j# l- h* s2 J

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
, T5 t- h8 U2 r1 x% U0 Xthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by % ?+ p! M% ~4 k/ z8 o* {! F, N
the Board of Directors;
0 B. G* q- A. _9 M1 _• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations * B& G; M/ P' q, d/ z# t; l
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
7 u& r7 }8 k* l) S; Q4 `enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- x* @+ l0 ^$ @( v) b+ ]• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ a' I& `. j. ^# r, Z& l
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by - e. r& F- _$ T
the board;
; Z: R! U; U: u8 }• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
* g$ ^3 Z0 `- t% {# n" |% W, n• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion

• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the $ R' l" z0 }! R( M# t5 `
changing needs of the organization and community;
8 U4 o9 E- T! t& j7 `, z+ e• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 ]: D! J* [" A$ r5 s
commitments;
3 l( S% G( C0 l4 ~* c• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 k) n' o$ ]1 U/ n6 K• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
% S8 x# A( n, w cselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; , q9 S2 [. K" o5 O8 X x
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 P/ Z: T- A; N1 W. a3 f• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

" @! e. K9 Q8 v9 {• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' v3 b$ I3 `7 x0 v* k+ w9 aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! F, P1 j- |" zthe forthcoming year; 4 B' G l/ x* M u
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
& B- E4 R6 v0 }' u0 v. c; K) E" Vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
2 {$ ?+ V; c6 f: t9 _% _YWCA Canada; and 4 g8 Y: F1 k0 [0 u

Required Professional Designation / Certification

Required Experience
" I% D/ k& i3 e$ q6 h7 O• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
H- Z6 l R/ }1 m4 s• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 w' w$ ~# b. E u6 r1 `: S$ S/ _6 D* _
abilities;

Networking and Fundraising;
