The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic ( k4 y5 u; n; u
thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead
7 O) N8 a( l# F' v# lthis multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA # R! L# W b7 m% l. l2 S* X& U
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and " b7 x1 M: c5 \2 a. T. s
surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

execution of the YWCA Strategy q V7 @7 F9 U, Y

2 }& P- A t9 O8 I& [" K; L5 D- ]• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 0 L, ?; Y; d! o) v1 P$ w
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
% V/ Y0 j4 e& ythe Board of Directors;
, W, R1 v2 f1 y) I4 s8 q7 P, j• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , q$ Q* ]5 V- o" [! b5 f H& u
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 1 j# M# a) c8 [. \
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;

( \0 E- ?$ Y$ d% f h9 Nobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " I, i3 y$ s4 y
the board;

the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; " ]8 c, I0 Q. Q5 E
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
, l7 e0 k. W! ?! @$ Nchanging needs of the organization and community; : D# V! W; U, r: s5 G! K
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! S! M! i+ m/ P0 ^2 O7 R, d
commitments; ; D$ s$ D& v; M( m
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; " G* P7 ]* G% B, E# l% a
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
3 ] t# r) M, I: B2 wselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ! c' |! @: v h6 V8 H$ G
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 7 A W( p/ w; t) |1 I
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 3 S$ y. y& J/ O j4 S$ J! g3 q- Z9 a
effectively and positively represent the association; , ]& d _( M- a$ R' z
+ g0 M7 R. F7 \/ @• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% p) H0 W, R8 U8 R! n! athe implementation of systems to manage these risks; $ R9 q( \- a) H3 D' R
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
3 m) R% V( S+ v8 rperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED + A) ^9 F* N N2 n7 @5 j
the forthcoming year; + h9 w! I! N; N7 P: D
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical - Z# s- r# B7 Z- A
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
9 [! n$ `# @& b5 } l, _• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation f! p* a4 M: `; E9 d! p
abilities;

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 6 {* ]& N( _8 S _: q: F) u' G: @
and financial statements; and
