Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
0 q/ M* O2 w Wexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

7 e5 W; R/ E% ?. Q7 B( A7 w• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
8 G; [ F2 c8 Q) M: q, Uthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 n# i; U& k6 d" h$ N @, ythe Board of Directors;
% l( l0 d0 Y5 [# u! W: G0 H• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 E- d8 `$ ?( `6 a( U8 L N
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 E9 n! p ~% b3 o
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; + ]1 o1 C( i* i8 ]9 Y8 o
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 9 O. o5 I# x0 D5 _) j9 d
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 u" _& O3 q1 r1 f
the board; ( h% y1 |, E" J! ]( p
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
7 j# ^3 P& ~' [$ C, s6 w+ Q• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion & t7 {* o$ Z( B1 }4 x7 E: _# Q/ f
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; + c/ t# x/ }( ~* z
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the % t* V9 E9 m$ s/ N+ d
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 `# U/ ~# z; d% G9 v8 M" }
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ( ~: S0 M' d" q$ P
commitments; 3 g5 j1 @+ M2 b" [+ m
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ' w* s" y( J7 h- ^
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
3 _3 W& _. [( m/ K& yselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ( l# W+ O6 a- w9 I
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
) B( ]* u4 ^5 ?7 e• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ( |4 J: {7 D0 h, e; {
effectively and positively represent the association;

/ M7 h3 n4 A2 C5 w% H1 J• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
" w# B w( {3 R* o3 ^7 u( N+ `6 Pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 3 G1 \: Z- I3 ?- g8 p$ T
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
3 V6 b) K: l( j, ]1 r5 R0 T! `8 dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
( E6 H& g) ~( V1 D" \! s& Jthe forthcoming year;
8 c# M# F Z6 _9 q• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical . A; ~5 v) K! ]& {8 b! A9 o
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 _% D- [ \& m+ l }8 B) c

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

abilities;
