Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
/ V) x, c$ @! K% H4 i+ l! N" pexecution of the YWCA Strategy ) e0 R# w6 P7 N% `. d6 T" B- V

Specific responsibilities include:

( c9 ], z0 J/ C8 Y6 x7 n• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
+ I% n- n: ?' tthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 n# r1 [, L; [9 _6 m# x+ I4 Bthe Board of Directors;
& @: C6 x6 l5 ]7 }6 ]% c9 }4 G' o• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
5 U0 Q( _ _( `8 w. c9 l' Yincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % j/ L3 h7 r Z
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 3 h L+ U3 b$ A
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : M/ q$ ]1 r8 P& u- ?4 K* c
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by * i5 W& s8 V0 p! s
the board; 5 b0 N& n" A Z- f' d' |4 D
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ' [. a! Q& A4 c! E2 {" g) U
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ l3 f4 S5 m3 |* ~# k& k2 Ithe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; L' B. e* Y8 d5 d. _ E
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # n7 b9 e- y6 Q, R
changing needs of the organization and community;
( l- b, t2 I1 W5 O/ j$ x• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 4 T2 a# B/ M: A9 _/ L2 `: |; ~
commitments;
% T2 g) n# J. O• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
% ]% Y- v' d o9 Q7 N# H• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
' w8 Q8 ^* H; X1 Q5 N1 [# `selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% o1 ]* R* P" Z" J/ g" Q2 r• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; + k! s. z8 g+ Z, O3 J* l
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# T0 L; ?8 L- k% j* T5 s) W; C9 Veffectively and positively represent the association; + ]" x c6 J( B2 f; R+ p
5 |6 H, s7 V% q$ M' _+ S• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
: V* k' c" ]% T/ ]# ^the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
% A; |* a+ d/ Z! z• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' q6 Z) c3 b9 Q3 \7 Z; V ?performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
* b' }6 O; r( S' S7 rthe forthcoming year;
( C3 q1 ~) o3 _) n0 m; [ n• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
$ ~4 E3 u d3 ~3 Q6 X% Qpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; x& Z; X5 q7 a+ p- g" g8 b+ G
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 R6 x+ B. I k$ j• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. + C: _( G+ S7 d) U0 _+ R

Required Experience + J# F! [, B6 C5 c; Y" ^ a) P, f
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
) F/ @: k5 o7 b) L2 N• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
6 r6 ~: T8 _# g ~3 _. Mabilities;
3 K4 E) t2 F; i2 ]# O• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
