Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ; O4 u1 W4 {8 B$ e1 X# }6 _
execution of the YWCA Strategy ! {8 M9 u/ \$ z. k% [8 o

2 H' |, ~9 L: h$ MSpecific responsibilities include:  * o( @/ H; \: V# J8 a1 `* r

* m* x9 M! O" E" v7 D( v•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
8 L+ f3 x$ k) R( _# X4 ^& Gthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
1 a6 g- D( }' e$ C! `8 o* B7 Mthe Board of Directors;  ; w* K' q1 o6 v: _& q
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 ?& [. ~" d' z/ i, B5 ]7 k: ~including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to : d0 d3 ]$ B7 u
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 7 y8 g7 B" M& T5 m( _
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 4 x5 L" G; T, z7 K  @: y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; X+ T. V+ R: `
the board;  " C" f% p" w! C1 n- w% x6 M
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  2 k: E$ k& O0 n4 E
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& C7 t+ c. `: @  C  U6 bthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
1 N, O5 @" b# d9 G7 F8 Q•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
9 u" k+ }) j' q+ [changing needs of the organization and community;
  f+ F" H, U3 C0 Z. G) p•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ' h" s) H: a) Q
commitments; , A3 s. R; m0 r5 l- R9 g& T
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  . u+ f9 A9 M! v; r& g" w5 G6 l
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
2 {) w/ t) V' y' e8 |selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ! H2 i6 Q, ^  B) y
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 }6 f6 H" S5 o0 n7 h* q5 T2 p•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 6 l* X; {" o) ]5 X. `
effectively and positively represent the association;   G6 N8 ^, _4 U3 l1 c

•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring % R% I- ]3 q8 {0 \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  . }* ]5 |$ Y# t  K3 u, z
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
9 ?# ?1 e7 e! {4 Q3 N* U. operformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED $ n2 {* c7 y" h; ]9 B! _. M
the forthcoming year;  8 Z8 g4 B# Y' N, w  r5 \
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical : @) u3 y5 e$ S+ N
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! s2 Y3 \/ q) w6 D0 o
YWCA Canada; and
7 U7 ?8 m; T& j. E8 o•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 8 Q: F' D5 ?' W

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; ! S( z% m2 y; C0 G, L* p: E
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 7 `" y/ ~- }7 E& [

Required Professional Designation / Certification # Q# ?* _/ v6 B/ L  j
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

2 ?0 E8 q* }" B0 d6 DRequired Experience - S+ |! Z( a& K7 N. b) u' i2 B: |# e
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 Z8 S7 P5 I+ ^5 c% g$ r# J
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
8 j6 a  p; f5 V9 V4 y6 Zabilities;   ~5 e7 k1 m/ Z
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 @/ S  s2 r0 K: PNetworking and Fundraising;
2 H, o5 V7 W' Y2 [7 e•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting * k. g1 Q$ f6 w
and financial statements; and
' u! s  r# S$ x, X! P' F. F•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women . g2 Z+ V/ q8 i
