this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
( l' l/ {/ t9 U# J8 kEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
3 x" D/ M+ b! c. @, I" Yexecution of the YWCA Strategy 4 n' r$ |$ Q( l5 m& t8 Y

: O( q& d6 w7 x7 p3 ASpecific responsibilities include:  $ \7 ^. H& P7 o

•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
/ d' e7 y9 a* y- ]! X/ E9 u5 ~  Q$ Othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 t! E, x% V( J6 ]# Q. A0 v3 b
the Board of Directors;  9 Q, y* S, ~7 |' F2 X% w. v
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ! M* q( u2 e0 ]! t6 c
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
6 G% g0 W9 M; A8 r, Nenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; * `/ }8 n. M  U; g7 M
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ! |# J  A( }- W& l
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ) W) Z: [* }' y; D
the board;  4 L7 q9 B- G) a/ v! v/ B/ Y$ N5 O
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ) i4 I+ s2 V6 }! A/ l! a
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion % c0 ]' o3 e" R6 t9 k9 {
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
" @$ l/ X, q  `- n, D•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " E$ n- k: `. B5 f: }  {* V7 j
changing needs of the organization and community; $ o  b' {' B; a* J0 n* K$ A% s
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + M9 f/ K* m5 \8 ]1 \" ~6 I
commitments;   S( J3 c3 ^# _, p
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ' P/ ^$ ~5 V; t
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 t: p% M9 @" s' S3 M# ?0 d
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
5 Y8 d5 Y& Q: J2 b$ E•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
6 k( v: L; N, B3 p6 D•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 6 x$ m2 ?6 T9 ~3 H  F
effectively and positively represent the association;
  \" b3 m3 |* V. \5 N3 h+ Z' C  |: p* h6 ?
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
8 I3 A; F8 g+ [. w- \. ^% Hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  2 u- \- u; Q2 Z1 |! a2 g
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
/ h! R: L  ]2 `( _; M# `performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
& I+ N' Q& l, {4 X- m% othe forthcoming year;  
& d- j5 E6 |9 V/ e# H7 f, K; g•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical   j' O1 ^# V! i" S( F
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! q1 F, n, o4 |2 w+ \0 v1 M
YWCA Canada; and $ p# B+ h2 N( z6 `. D7 i
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
6 ^* x. J3 p% \! D) K, W& \' rForces.  % z; l: ^  A0 s% o$ K( G

. Y( ^: e. q% Z: _" M•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
' Z- W. ?; J: F# ~3 M; ^: T•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 3 P7 ^: o+ \) I: K
around decisions, plans and actions; ! d: e; {- k' X- ]+ e8 Y. \) [
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
, }5 Z" k5 ^. {7 ?- j& G•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
4 _3 l* G3 I  K) fand achievable with realistic timeframes;
" {% x& W/ ]7 g+ c6 B- n! Z+ b•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build

: j2 f0 r2 g2 z( F" Y8 C+ } Required Professional Designation / Certification * u+ o" T; S( e4 K1 U
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
: W# F. O! j# F# h9 S
/ F! ~4 d8 G$ M5 IRequired Experience 5 [8 z- a  c8 ?) J9 M
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, V+ s2 U- j/ [+ f6 Y1 \•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
4 h. {7 t4 B$ T) a7 fabilities;
# [; F2 K& ^' L+ L. F•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
, x2 C: D; F1 N( j" h2 P/ f/ uNetworking and Fundraising; 2 G6 E- N, ?/ N& |
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( K& ~# \; s: H% x1 Aand financial statements; and
* d. Q- \0 H% e5 Q# {! b: a2 A•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
% D, y) W' P$ m2 Y8 Y6 Vcentered perspective.
