The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; f# O3 R, \# F# Wexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
5 T1 m# `( W9 s* z3 T+ dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
2 T3 p* H( O0 V: i+ b; Zthe Board of Directors; + F0 Z+ T4 b; c! ?0 m0 k
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 `$ ~5 i4 a( @! `& f
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
1 H* G9 [# V5 e8 z8 Jenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- `2 c- C$ `6 V- x% t( \• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
0 z$ o, |$ h1 j5 Iobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 p1 m- _7 P; [- j9 u. j9 `$ t* e
the board;
3 D4 K, g# y; A* d: C2 S* M; R• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
$ y! }" ~8 f4 ^ _$ ^• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 4 U9 O0 y+ @ ]& e6 z4 p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
* L6 }8 Q( Z/ Y! {9 ]• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
' O. {* S; t# Q7 ^: J( b3 a0 v# }changing needs of the organization and community;
; n9 A B6 V; P; u5 Y* Q• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) d. d* D/ \# [6 ?2 ]- ]

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
3 L5 O9 q" |; B3 c• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / U5 W: ^; x# D5 R( v; }# _/ k* N
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
' J/ {: |; I; D4 ?2 z• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , ^) \ c: W- A0 V$ a( X
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
+ u- t4 p9 Q9 ^% r' G- Seffectively and positively represent the association;

3 n5 G9 F! o" E4 H• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. K" B, e7 \. `9 {7 B1 xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
# d! _: s; g# P+ m A! b• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
: {, o7 S( b! X+ sperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 2 F3 z( i1 b$ |" [0 Z) a/ s/ E+ u
the forthcoming year; 5 V2 P3 S/ z$ N @9 d6 ]
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical $ p6 ~3 U5 U. t6 m! v, Q: _9 _
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
( K" Q& H4 n- X$ A5 b% \$ S• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' q, H4 r5 i) V" c2 h* m7 z• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 x$ X8 v4 @+ b
abilities;
$ h; o. ?1 U# D. u. x9 d4 E; r• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
; r6 g0 ^) H! b$ h: XNetworking and Fundraising; 2 S4 b* a" y7 f
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . |% X7 \5 Y, R. p) }8 c
and financial statements; and
