Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ! b) ^2 q; o: b+ K! M3 ?
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

1 M; o* x2 y c% n* C. v; j• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 d) k* x; q* g5 Z$ o" sthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
V' C# @6 G& ethe Board of Directors;
3 u) J* h4 G1 b9 `8 B5 T* P% a• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 r3 o1 E( F+ O( t
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to : t! U0 q$ O" u8 Q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 {4 {) i# ]; s• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
6 v8 j$ F0 D) r1 F% U: i' uobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by + q# ?! V" G9 y+ t" X6 ?$ {2 `5 s
the board;
: t, W" ?. ? z4 u/ {• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
R* B Q$ ^, [0 C• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; ?1 e4 [% q; S- }, |% k9 `the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: R9 F& }& Q. k) K: q/ B4 x6 y• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 4 ^+ M8 }: N* {* |4 ]
changing needs of the organization and community;
" H' O) J( j/ q; i2 d• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
, I) n, w& e- B+ D* Lcommitments;
- U$ q3 e+ M/ C• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
! ]9 b4 Y8 t: J% c% s4 Y• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - M3 F; B* W/ H: h3 S& B( P% h
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; - ^: p( H& S+ H/ m. p* o/ C
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ! s2 e% i5 ^$ {( V1 [
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

% b9 C& u/ ?, v' L$ g% y• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 2 i3 I5 K1 m O% ^2 K
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
7 K& @9 a! ~0 F• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 4 H% m+ @* r/ i0 h) A" k
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
# Q4 {3 T3 K8 q: z$ Z7 Xpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Professional Designation / Certification
9 C: r+ B/ f/ Y/ K• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience . l/ m7 o0 B9 o- u* m
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 ?1 L, l1 T0 I( r9 R3 ^• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, + J4 Q( E4 u) M+ }
Networking and Fundraising;
# {6 W q, Q1 H2 l* l1 L# q• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
