Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
- S( p2 F( H, Q" D4 Y1 {execution of the YWCA Strategy & F, ^+ w( H2 S6 O! D+ @

Specific responsibilities include:

) a ~$ C j% [ T3 L• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 3 w: y. Z8 v6 K
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by + w0 w2 z" u9 k% `- F/ z
the Board of Directors;
& `# b$ a5 [' z* c; G3 ?& i• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 r* j( h5 P" m& S5 t& @ ~
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
7 M* g4 x W& Q3 c# z. q0 N- {enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
6 ^# A/ m& ~6 ~6 a• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
3 ^: X8 ?1 u/ n5 H; C c$ L3 U1 hobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; " H8 M- z/ t9 ^, }9 \& C: m3 z: w8 R( ?+ ]
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
4 R( X! P; K7 tthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
1 U! }: X6 `- q• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
) |. S: ~; f$ Kchanging needs of the organization and community; 5 q2 b w6 ]6 w9 n+ {
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 G+ t; r! |) g& Y t2 X. `) r
commitments; + `5 Z/ E: z% _3 }
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
- D) N, e+ l0 _3 d6 h2 X4 w• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
9 H. q3 e4 \! s. oselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
! o' L S. n: U& E• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
- ~% P8 r5 ?# t3 H2 y• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 2 z( F/ r" S' x
effectively and positively represent the association;

2 u8 P7 |0 S+ W• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
2 W& p, P' O: H: `+ Gthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
Q1 x( {! w3 S) {( i ~# n• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
) }$ b* E$ ^# o+ r- Gperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) E# y& n) q, L% q, \
the forthcoming year; 7 U/ k; H) U. Y+ E- j
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 0 Q2 @$ h+ b4 y
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - y0 r6 p# X7 ~* I* L5 C
YWCA Canada; and
; q" F( P+ ~* u) B l• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task % ~2 F6 O3 u1 `2 Q- e

• Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build

Required Professional Designation / Certification
5 G" c* e" {0 D. K• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. / G: u: @3 S: a; }1 |

Required Experience , q. [+ N$ s$ w' A# r2 Z
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
. H* E' C$ ?& K* d3 e" v& _/ R• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 5 Z ]% {8 j# m: Y6 {
abilities;
8 X, F" [( N! t+ t( c% D2 [4 H1 G• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
; N% @& ?8 T$ C1 ~# XNetworking and Fundraising; ( d. _6 P# ~2 f% u: `' L) w
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 1 S9 S9 v2 C# a: U' {& X
and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
