Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

. s3 k5 b: z$ `• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
2 m9 l7 ^2 F! ^" `; v7 E( ~the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by $ R7 @7 y: f# ]- t6 Q$ \' F7 {
the Board of Directors;
" q- L2 w; a& t2 E/ f9 ~/ K• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: q; `8 _7 {0 F2 kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
- O- P! D/ m7 s% h# penable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
; K, P7 q$ ]# [$ m Q" F• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and J& B/ q8 B' Y p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 n6 G7 A2 H S2 h) h3 L O
the board;
/ U7 A4 c0 A3 g' l0 S) I• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ! r" x* M+ K. m% Q
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 5 D. U8 E( M$ l
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 6 n; \- b1 O* g
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
9 s; @ h3 f5 Tchanging needs of the organization and community; % V8 q6 U" F$ z4 {; M
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
7 {1 S$ E4 U3 ^5 ?7 v+ `commitments;
0 n* T; ]7 r2 K0 L• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
( @: b6 a+ P$ u• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " p) M/ H# [/ m2 }* u6 k9 A
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
& H2 C0 c2 l. y. F+ P• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 g6 G0 U+ f6 Y
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to - C, L% D# |3 ?' W1 H
effectively and positively represent the association;

9 D6 m% V( S ?' R1 a& }• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
2 P; |( E7 T' A8 H( G8 n2 J, pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
9 A; p; R, q+ Y5 O* d2 d* H% T• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 9 r5 X' F, Y- `, d
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 7 H$ s `% H4 H2 q3 {* _/ _
the forthcoming year; + J1 ^& i; s, K% o
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
6 `# o) A! V2 c5 `# C5 m9 Ypractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + y8 V: `8 L; ~5 T3 F* }0 P0 A
YWCA Canada; and
% Y) V9 u7 U2 t, ~ i; N• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task & j7 c4 l) T6 M

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. & ? l) b9 y; |# T! D' l4 A! u

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
9 _3 N; a+ i" G9 J, h) G• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation % N5 o/ n2 N9 F( S! U7 ~% X; Z2 E
abilities; - v: D( x2 M( m/ |- V* m! K
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 5 X+ V V' o4 x. E: M; w
Networking and Fundraising;
3 R) T2 {2 l" V• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting / g4 X! t, h- {, o
and financial statements; and ! w8 {( S* Y7 i0 o& c
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ) `9 _' [. ]! t
centered perspective.
