The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of $ e& \; g3 d% G
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
' A2 x) E, r. j5 w* F5 I# athe Board of Directors; ) I0 ~8 `1 j; v& @% I
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
. V6 w r9 U7 z' Wincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 L+ ?& e, d& T4 o6 V* l0 G/ Senable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
e; e) X5 m0 ?* r) N1 s8 s• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ! b- z. p5 ?8 ^) {, {+ U
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
, E) ~9 S1 I" M2 w( j: j• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
: }) C2 p0 n1 L9 Qthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
$ K4 c$ g2 H4 C1 j4 p* K• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the $ ?* _. I& `; N
changing needs of the organization and community; + {/ {0 r* K3 I y+ ]
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
& Q/ Q" H X! \' d& Zcommitments; 3 J# C4 @# O Z0 d0 P1 n
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * @% n/ q0 l) M. l( z
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) a5 c+ ]9 t7 f3 sselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 3 v% H" {& k4 G% M
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; - k+ I4 r3 \& F; N8 ?: j
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 5 S* q$ @" z& f1 U7 t
effectively and positively represent the association;

: B( s7 g9 t9 I+ f: y" y• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
; Y" E# ]4 _$ Z sthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
9 x! P8 H4 c* i' w/ }9 a+ V) ?: z• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
5 Y) {& z( K% I4 |4 Kperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 1 q) L% R# W: S; W/ c
the forthcoming year;
5 j; n' H5 s1 A• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
# S7 Z" R8 d# m" i; @practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ) B4 j6 t6 {7 b7 X0 b& f$ x
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification 6 g2 T* V$ f' n1 J- T
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ( b) d/ y: y3 [$ c8 }

Required Experience & v% N. E! b6 d
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
! T3 t( f% {5 Y! f% x9 g3 |• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( c: C& @: Q% n) I# M; w0 [abilities;
! s# q4 P% x* ~+ p7 ]: r! R/ W• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
' F0 s/ p; A) f _# s0 h8 B& UNetworking and Fundraising;
5 H, B0 [8 x1 p6 T+ {3 m2 E: W# f3 Z: X• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
