this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

( ]/ O7 @/ R7 Q7 n1 N9 YResponsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
& U( ^/ C) H' U& q7 B6 Pexecution of the YWCA Strategy
0 X1 g& T: w* L
, \1 |  h# `( n+ z9 YSpecific responsibilities include:  
! m' H; {( l9 l; }; I8 |3 W . {$ a- i; q  t
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 m' k+ J' j( h0 w& dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by , E) T. @$ F+ s# D; W- L7 U! b; R
the Board of Directors;  
3 S, {' R  V) k, D( f8 q•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 K% R% D0 P, @5 Q
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to . C2 M$ H# F" o7 p# Y+ _0 `
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; - `0 X6 z' h4 c8 I. h
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
7 \, G+ D, l% L" jobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ) U- X3 i4 H: A* Z6 a0 n7 {
the board;  * y1 C; z% Z1 h' u3 U
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
! T+ a! z8 j0 r2 I) [  \•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 ]2 J. T! ~, ?0 ~
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; / X* M  N6 G9 \: V( M* E
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 0 ^6 p7 |9 Q, S8 p$ @: G
changing needs of the organization and community;
# Q) F, }+ G$ s" w" w•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 F7 y; _; O2 t/ G. s
commitments;
9 p9 N& S* f3 y0 C, h; w1 p•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  % S2 h; Y3 Z0 ~8 n6 k( W) e& U1 S( _0 D
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, W# L( {6 A2 y0 |8 mselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
2 \5 x( Z: k4 U•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 [9 [& ~* t. N* d0 Z* |
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
1 \( C* w2 C) J6 h4 R+ a0 Ueffectively and positively represent the association;
3 q; l& l  M( b3 f4 f: B% E2 A/ T0 v1 i8 B* E$ z
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 O( A! J% X5 X" N' J
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  0 G7 ^5 E+ h" Q2 G& L
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal . I% |1 G1 [5 U
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
6 I9 \9 ^9 E) y( Bthe forthcoming year;    \4 }# V* j" D! e
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! S1 ?5 H: ?4 r+ u9 E% a: c' Zpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of & C7 ^& D( Y8 a: d6 M
YWCA Canada; and 0 N6 E* z* k' |& U7 I4 N
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
# I( {. {$ J; P' H1 ?* v. ~, E$ {, K' aForces.  
/ r& ~/ i9 X# c6 `  , `5 R# V' \  f% X$ a7 F
Required Skills & Abilities
: ~# r  ~( |8 o2 m5 c•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

and achievable with realistic timeframes; # w: I4 s2 K" N5 }$ S; U8 f
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ( Y: ~9 T( I0 \2 w
simultaneously;
7 @0 `' c) ~- O. h/ B- d•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ) _  `: d4 w8 m7 G6 _
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 7 Q/ m3 T+ g' v: x# M. J
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ) y! B; ~$ X1 }& i
•  Superior negotiation skills.

2 w! E) H3 E4 l8 g% v1 R. g/ d•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 6 p0 J0 \3 E) Y

5 E& }0 Z! C( URequired Experience ; C% v8 D6 u3 |# _  F# z
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 3 o/ b& d! O# \5 |2 D  r
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation - @( n1 `: x* k& t
abilities;
: a  D) B6 w, x% G4 r•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, & D7 v4 X8 [  x1 p2 p5 F
Networking and Fundraising;
) y0 I/ n2 c$ ~& x6 Z6 b•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting : G; y4 [/ p1 }7 T- S1 u
and financial statements; and " r, h9 ?( L, Z+ s) Z  K8 K# w
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ! |" z7 l& Q' j5 q0 o
centered perspective. - u5 ?( `# t, y# u
