this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 9 m, ?( ^1 c: m; D2 D7 d, T
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
+ ^: C! d( \4 I# c: tsurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

' ?* J4 ~8 I0 J1 E  g  n% j7 j% GReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 0 M* w  ~. v: m* F* |
execution of the YWCA Strategy ' g$ y: g4 @- |9 c

2 x# s& ~( L/ N5 j& BSpecific responsibilities include:  3 r! D% P. ?8 [. R# h7 F
8 h7 e! ?7 Z: p4 G
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of : f/ D1 r$ U$ X" A* a* Z9 h0 Y/ ?
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 0 o# V1 o& ?! C& c! T. I
the Board of Directors;  : f& q* W* i4 W/ y& j1 [
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 l2 K% Z: i% T8 W
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
, F# N2 X% [$ h5 J2 p: benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 m% z9 u' r' f  _! Z7 w6 B3 R•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
) S4 J0 c% z( y+ u0 nobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
3 p7 F- ]' |5 X4 |! ithe board;  ! N* c& b: ?* N9 j: ]. w; s
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  , J  F$ t! N" n) b
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion % x' ?( k  Y4 z$ M
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 3 t1 q- W( |: ]5 S1 k7 C5 e, Y
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ! g9 T4 ?8 s& M+ T
changing needs of the organization and community; , S+ v8 {0 \+ Z# L% V
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
( e# i4 v# _) G# e" acommitments;
( _: f7 r1 A- J) X: o# `•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
5 W1 D. O4 ]  r5 Y•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # \. M% ]( _" H  k4 E
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  - I' ~; ]/ u& K/ q" T% O4 l+ X
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
- b, A7 G) W: n# W7 p( N" o•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
9 j! `+ ?; [4 v+ @8 g$ Geffectively and positively represent the association; ) q, h1 E# G. W' v2 I- d# [6 o

* y: Z% Y4 F8 s8 D5 L8 l, D7 P•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , q' Q) _! y  u: r$ G
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  ! _# \. C- d2 ~. e: M
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
1 @6 K) W# k- L4 M! pperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
/ L- X( z6 l6 q+ e3 C2 X' [# R# Ethe forthcoming year;  , `- ~8 s0 b+ K, L
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' a- v. m  @( o& W
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; m' n" S/ b8 C% {5 p# {8 ~
YWCA Canada; and
4 O7 A( ~! U8 e•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
6 N. \& F" i5 @4 b% h  ?5 BForces.  & G" K' a, v0 F0 ^6 D! n, E
  
& b' V0 U) p9 z! S+ u, n" d1 URequired Skills & Abilities
* L2 ?8 Q2 d: C0 h2 A/ D•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
* p2 I  J0 B) h7 ?0 \( s7 O/ E+ X•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus * G- u# i( O. M$ F9 {3 f  |. x
around decisions, plans and actions; 5 J& O1 s. q+ w1 d9 ^' B( `. ~
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; * Y0 n+ Q4 V% k1 U" ~$ E
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable + z# y) d% f: i
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
" T4 D7 ?1 v+ N0 U' l* Y! `3 \3 M•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
$ @* z3 b0 x5 L4 f, ~simultaneously; ( ?, ^, C7 O/ c2 l& C
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ; B' ~4 ]; e* ]7 a8 [5 i7 V
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; - W, O" Z$ q3 D  u  }' W9 R
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ) P4 ], {3 \( x& v; p! N
•  Superior negotiation skills.

, X$ Z( y. T- V& U Required Professional Designation / Certification
: O4 K2 ~' X$ D7 c. b( k•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. " p- G' ]( k% m+ l% C6 x

5 ?9 b; t! L. ]% ]Required Experience
& [6 N$ V3 b' G8 K2 F" o9 z' P3 ~•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ; m6 C  @3 S2 H& l/ ?3 F
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation - G% O3 Z1 W* @, \
abilities;
, r5 J" I7 u6 M  m  Y- o& }•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ' k/ M9 B6 r: k: k2 f3 n" w
Networking and Fundraising; * a2 e+ i$ o4 j- K, o  I9 ^: C1 V7 w+ ]
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ) E! z7 A0 g- P+ O& w6 w
and financial statements; and
7 r; C% f4 P' d•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 7 A  {4 S# _( k
