; b, _6 S! k0 x1 K! A( ^* hReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
3 }( Z! R. [. e9 F* Y" U+ D3 Z pexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 I! |$ J2 X) G }, I2 xthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 ^# o( f" M( G$ x5 R* n
the Board of Directors;
4 |/ x3 B9 o0 P6 N9 B• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: h' Q7 ]# ]1 o' `+ q, H1 i7 o% F$ s5 dincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 9 H7 k( s/ S3 q! X$ G- k$ T) C
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' F- s$ z% w4 |% r" ^
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% C0 l. q3 M& y5 Kobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , b' e) i! _3 N% h9 r
the board;
/ o- `/ `' y' L4 H9 I• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; , {% m2 M, a, I$ C& F& @8 z$ Q( D
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 1 m% k$ v( h9 Q. e0 T
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 2 o/ [# L% m: f& z, d6 F
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
6 e3 W$ s6 Z7 t6 a* N: u) d, Hchanging needs of the organization and community; # y: [4 C+ X8 {+ G8 F4 A" @ a; X
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- T* ^ o. s1 E, j2 Fcommitments; 9 ]- g0 R: e& l- R0 X: J! Y4 u0 x
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * l! f; j" ~9 B7 r( E A
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ E1 p% I4 Z( a! [! Qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 8 V, l1 e! E* b& T, d9 c
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
5 d. d( r6 v# W/ \( [+ z• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ( \+ _6 F: T" Z6 Y! H3 ?, |
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ( I& z1 K0 Q5 n- Z# I+ H
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
1 d5 D3 P8 }/ s3 j$ k; y3 }• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
/ \6 m( z" p4 v; C* h/ {3 ]! y/ ~performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
2 e3 }! v( F. A$ O( Vthe forthcoming year;
2 j% L' A/ a% x( t+ a# H• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! {# o) c9 V! O$ C! U! u$ T" Jpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
z# f4 O- {+ t$ W4 h( ~1 |0 ~YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 8 r/ K& ]/ U R, r$ X# u$ U L

) j g$ j+ u1 w' c: `9 ]/ V• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
. _: d9 a0 ]5 W% c9 }) R O$ E8 v• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation , X" X4 D- G0 V8 |' A/ v% z& P
abilities;
3 r4 Y% w8 Y/ _' q• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
