Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

! a" U, s# Q+ q T, C• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
$ I+ F* q4 ~5 n4 J, u9 Nthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
3 @! b1 l8 ], [: g7 l" jthe Board of Directors;
( q% m5 L7 H( l- @. R• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
; y& p$ R, \; F# f, ]6 t$ kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& g+ s. }8 C; g0 H5 s2 `5 `enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( w* @; `2 N( q& s• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and - F1 {' q$ q/ H0 A
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " O) J2 }' K0 S' s2 \) A/ u7 E2 \

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ; Z+ S# X2 y$ } ?" K' o
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion : S- `3 ?" D* o0 j
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
+ \' U b" G g# O• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
; W- z! \8 S9 N& O( ]changing needs of the organization and community;
5 M) d' h9 z$ A- N. |• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 7 Y* v- y1 j0 M* |' \1 _. E

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
J5 M) \) ^6 h& P/ O% B3 p• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ; S9 k/ Z: g$ l$ B6 a
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
k' y3 l# ]: I6 ^; w% o0 \# P• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , V. L) x# j3 o7 x/ d. F: L5 K
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
: S7 E' j$ f6 ]! q; L+ J+ N, H1 ceffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring " b. `' b! A. B9 Y
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
3 ]1 l b0 x0 f4 H• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- b, S$ e$ E* S5 tperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
# t, T& w( [3 g1 ~$ i7 Xthe forthcoming year; 7 u- S6 B. b9 \- U# {
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical % `5 Z/ q8 V9 B2 T% j
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! j& i9 X& \& h0 o6 b* o2 }
YWCA Canada; and
/ e7 x. l2 d! Q• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

7 p, C0 s9 e# u" _• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
. I1 @- E1 t2 {8 d• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( F; ^2 x! r" {abilities;
* H" l; d' C& r9 Q' O• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, h' {# N4 V1 H( r. p4 K1 V2 X; T

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
