# s6 D$ k, p, b( NReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 5 J. N. |, u( [6 Z
execution of the YWCA Strategy : {! j- [, L* y2 d" u. u2 E

Specific responsibilities include:

7 Q4 Z/ e0 r l' M5 j& p• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ( x& A$ J; d6 p/ \, V
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
) j$ [ ~* x( y" r3 {, Nthe Board of Directors; 4 c! \9 P7 V2 f
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 9 a5 l& i. j# l h
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
6 e( ?% i# h0 ?/ \enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
% G" W" O1 n8 E- f$ Q; |7 ~• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 5 N. ?% v& b' ^1 X) b+ Q6 @, [
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by * r3 Z3 S0 D5 D8 E
the board;
( e( n/ t" j! T7 |• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; : i" R* q, ~8 |0 ]9 W0 c2 @
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 _+ L& v6 ]1 @# v* othe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
$ j5 C1 L9 P! H1 _• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 1 K$ ~+ w; O0 f( h5 V1 n8 v* z
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 `" f8 n' b \8 I, z
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
( {2 W4 U6 n' D4 y/ x: X6 d! ]: J0 ^commitments;
4 I, h- c0 H( w" ]• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; . l7 d9 x/ o& u6 u
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 n7 p3 B' a& S1 y$ s# U0 e
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
7 q* t7 i5 W) N) P Q4 c/ |' o• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
, U) e; F3 {% H5 L2 v8 G; vthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
- q+ j0 U. s' C6 Z. K# `• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal $ R3 \$ }" S2 j
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , M$ h3 m, l" C# |" H2 |# w! E
the forthcoming year; 4 x. `, g# l+ X/ L1 S w9 L
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 2 R; N* ]2 w& d3 W, g7 |1 x+ S
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of : k$ ?7 u0 x$ f j7 R
YWCA Canada; and
0 m& G! c% O4 l' X5 i3 r' h9 X• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

1 E) n, \9 b' }# U+ O8 P/ P• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
" P* }# O. F) j: }/ K2 `• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 f/ ^/ j5 A P% D" V7 v# _

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
