this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
, J9 M7 G; Y/ Q2 M! a- ^Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
  M/ O. w7 K. G4 G5 x' psurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities
6 _3 t; A! V) O# H+ D6 i' `+ F4 j2 _ ) P2 A; X$ u* e; r* H+ g6 M* A8 O
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & K& K" ^" p# g5 h" A. Y; `
execution of the YWCA Strategy
% }$ c3 z; o# j% k, K: {% y- C5 ]+ K1 M
1 p' O/ m$ r; V. J2 S, tSpecific responsibilities include:  
0 B5 j5 \" X; l/ _2 Q
+ G  o# {6 _( J. P( p+ H  C8 P$ D- z•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! k3 i8 x% {5 v7 |7 I4 j" D
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 _) g8 E7 c0 O' X, `4 c
the Board of Directors;  9 R3 \; d: V  f  C7 l5 G0 i8 H! u
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 \/ W- E* n) j3 }9 @' l, u
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
0 i  D. W0 W! v) w& j9 L( m% aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;   g* s9 |& h/ L
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" L% `/ m0 b' _! t, [objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
/ m; C3 H2 b5 Z1 _2 y5 C. xthe board;  + H) L4 e# ?3 L6 A+ H5 d
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
) u( w- q: q) M" D3 N! f+ G5 p•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ' K3 Z! n# @( O( U* i/ v$ T; @- q
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
* Q3 N3 o$ I2 X7 T1 u3 Q•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 y  n) k5 \) U+ d) w* Xchanging needs of the organization and community; 3 g* ^) S: B! Q1 b% H( z2 N" g
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
& n+ R% I6 X! \3 x, |& B) Acommitments;
8 p( ?0 a+ J* \) T•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  - f3 F5 ^& b% f/ Q7 E8 ?
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " T$ t, @* m0 ^1 a
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  & [  A) S# K: t
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
5 R7 h( k! {8 B, n" o) A! o•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
/ t. T' o1 ^* @( u9 N/ O# `2 Yeffectively and positively represent the association;
$ }, [* y6 g1 a# _
3 M/ F* L+ g5 S- x  b•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
  [- r0 x5 `3 }) R( J7 Athe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  4 @* e* T* n! q8 D9 |
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& m% I! Z9 X2 P6 |performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
3 U; u! V; N% b( `the forthcoming year;  
" x. @- s6 D$ G5 b; |•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
3 U; x# U& T# p" a3 Ypractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
" ~% _. _1 M9 E/ f' F; S- z1 d+ ?; tYWCA Canada; and
5 k6 b0 @! C! Y# ^. S•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
. T$ R) v, ~3 s5 u' B6 C6 f5 @Forces.  / N0 v2 z4 S0 f! D
  
; C; z  a/ b1 m9 \, LRequired Skills & Abilities
' }( Z: a3 L5 p$ R•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;   }- ~0 g2 f; I' N! z) e
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
- S0 W) t1 p7 P, g2 m- g, ]: m& ]2 _around decisions, plans and actions;
& L+ R2 |4 Z8 U9 V# @( E•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
! Q1 |  @. g% ~; w•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable / m2 D, K# U5 u6 Q3 B* J! Y
and achievable with realistic timeframes; * l" M. C  q  Z
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks , F% H# d/ m/ u2 y$ L; j
simultaneously;
8 t. Q8 K+ }5 l5 x3 F3 z6 U•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
: h/ H6 r, n; J  k5 f# B, f•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. # I% q; }0 u' Z$ H& z6 |4 r4 g
7 Q; X0 G' [1 x: _. t" N
Required Experience
5 K) j  G' e1 r- P•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 g4 T* F* h4 {& H% y& Q•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation " q( ~+ d/ ?- v6 u1 m
abilities; 5 i) q* M0 ]5 L+ m5 r0 d( q3 L7 Y
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
! S7 H; M$ V" QNetworking and Fundraising; 3 K8 z/ g3 x. Q: A' q
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ) D0 e  A+ O" C# }
and financial statements; and 8 V7 ?7 k: ?: e/ t  H
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women   |! h$ ]' y) V7 ~! {. ^
centered perspective. ( S( i4 r% ^% b/ _
