The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

3 z! C/ L& V$ I( \Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: Q3 I; k" v1 S$ L5 U6 E
6 T. x" b* C+ a* l7 |6 K• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 D. \8 [$ ~: f
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
k+ v6 `- P" B5 z9 `3 f) ythe Board of Directors; " j3 T/ a! N: g$ W9 W
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
) B: }# u& D: q w# @including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 8 Z" F1 A! a- ^6 p$ x! C8 F" i" h
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! ]3 ^ \+ T8 R; u3 w, e• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
v; R8 ^: }" f9 N/ sobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
" b2 V( X; y s9 u4 j& d ^the board;
' J" y2 y/ y4 w ?: o• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; % F* ^/ L+ n2 q W, |$ h- ?
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& K, v5 o! i2 ^+ ^4 G, ythe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 7 @; S9 U$ R! T* f
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / l$ Z S/ W% f
changing needs of the organization and community;

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 z, r& Z& |: G; {4 R7 ~# t
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ ^: N2 [5 Z5 t4 j7 X% f! f4 J7 N: Qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # D4 `7 C" B8 i! F# C" L
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
& W3 U6 ?# P+ o0 Z; s( n, G• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to m+ p9 M8 S( W( ? }
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
, c# ~$ w+ t' ^# [) nthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
( O2 D" _# U9 p# M3 f• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
/ Q5 M* V/ R& H7 n9 a- x: L! [5 Bperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
. ^3 ^0 T- |$ L0 {# Othe forthcoming year;
z% F) Y, i; m, @- `. ]7 c• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% z7 W. O- X# f0 u3 Zpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Professional Designation / Certification
# F; c) K5 n$ u• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' g0 o. E- w+ j, u' `% r% T# ^& W• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation . z5 B+ i/ x/ d4 P( s2 O2 \
abilities; % g7 r# h( Q9 A5 Y( ?, ^
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
$ o5 F* n( ~; k' x* NNetworking and Fundraising; 5 K3 m0 i& t @6 f5 W# _6 _+ H
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ' {% u5 |( A& T* S+ j% a# `- t; L
and financial statements; and % w, {/ S( _! P$ O4 ~! V! s5 ]
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
4 {; H- m! ^4 I; g: O' H- rcentered perspective.
