Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
! n# V) D: C4 O2 E/ C" xexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 3 d) U0 V. r9 ~2 l5 H5 h
$ {* p$ |/ j" C, a! R5 y( P9 r• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 7 ]% b L P# I( q4 j; `7 Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ~* b f5 q3 m4 G0 {: ?
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
7 p5 ?$ L$ o, Kenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! j4 q: o, X% f& M5 x& z
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, B, A$ O, {7 k# l. [ ^; w' \objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

2 E9 S2 z* u) z$ B, [& W: N• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
0 O( Y# s% \% N1 Q ~+ k; A• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
# J$ P# f! c0 j! |7 i% e4 ~the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ) W$ f; Y+ C& P5 V
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the , p% s" B$ m0 T0 j( q/ F2 E
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 T: E _6 A' B$ U
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
. F! l- }$ @2 {! ~, a5 M! tcommitments; 2 R7 m8 H4 B3 n* I9 m7 E/ y) }% o
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; # G+ G' j- w7 n4 L) r
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
( V: X3 z% U' S8 zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; * Z, c9 ], `7 V) g/ C+ m d9 B. H
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 6 Q( }. |* s* e0 H' y
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
* w4 [, |' z9 A1 U: B; Jeffectively and positively represent the association; 2 c5 c" W0 n* ?9 P( ?0 f; `

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( Q& \* `5 C* h2 X X3 R; D( Ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
" k" x) ]- I" ~% [+ l2 ]3 g* }' `" K• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
, Y( a# m1 o* G" rperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
( L% X2 i8 c( G6 m: l4 O; \the forthcoming year;

practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 Y8 C. g. r- |8 R) t7 U
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification 9 |! R) X7 w) f) E
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ; i$ ?$ j) z+ S: K1 d5 @# A
1 c" X6 `3 f! s4 @Required Experience
/ \5 d4 ^+ t9 H* q* l• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ) U9 Z/ u; R' D& j* |, q- v* @) c8 q
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
1 T) n4 C5 B' y- D7 jabilities; / s+ v$ L! i+ H/ {- L1 v) }# _
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
$ a8 b+ t3 q( f/ g0 c1 i" ^Networking and Fundraising; `: W# U9 j- s" b, g
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
9 ?" ~$ L: `1 P, C; |" rand financial statements; and
