Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

x; A! m% D& t v% V* ~: x• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of : d+ W0 b/ A3 i* l2 Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
9 `7 I& N6 Z8 |* g' Q s% L- cthe Board of Directors;
. A3 L8 f- L- Q( Q6 a i3 Y• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ) T2 o" q r+ y ~
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# f8 k) g3 F0 tenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
2 r5 D+ |4 p; H( j! S• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ a: C# f& u+ J7 C$ v" y# T
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 1 P/ V* K. W: P1 ], i! I, _4 u
the board;
1 U$ p8 v) \9 O4 V& v% d& T• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
. @8 I( ^: `0 j9 n) R1 Q9 \/ v) {• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ! U# }0 P m/ ~! i% X
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
/ e+ c9 l* i4 Q9 j3 ]• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / `1 N! ^' D! A8 U6 ?# a
changing needs of the organization and community;
. p9 U+ D* S/ Z• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! t4 T7 Q; F/ _. f
commitments; / B# v6 X4 f Q7 O& e5 Y+ ]* s. [
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
) c" ^; a3 ~' H: U) V( F• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
4 a3 p# y( C" Oselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 4 b0 ~) |5 n! \
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; . |3 l e! Y: T9 J
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
0 V& _0 x# P% O$ F5 y8 F# _effectively and positively represent the association;

" d& O: O" J& X, F• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 Q9 e5 s V5 c% u, u) G6 pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
) J/ E# O% [* E a Q• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 9 _6 r4 K$ N7 M" U
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
8 p1 D9 T+ c- n. sthe forthcoming year; . u7 U% p& j3 [5 ]
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 5 P3 P/ h" `* w
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of , |' e' H* M3 a/ v! d0 d, x4 c5 e: Y
YWCA Canada; and ' @# O; t% N0 ~/ h- Y
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
- ^" S9 R7 c% ~8 N I9 V6 v4 e• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. . m3 s0 e& [( u$ K. i
" @+ {+ l, L' W8 A6 n7 WRequired Experience
) n# G; W) Q7 f; q5 R+ u) f, d• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 i+ L) [: D% r; z* P7 K
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : K2 \% p0 J/ N) X( g5 q
abilities; 1 y- R3 \; R; {4 g4 s1 V% N$ o3 t( Q
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
{, C* L# S+ X! M& VNetworking and Fundraising;
- z7 z# \5 l0 _0 C C: h' w* l( g a• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
