# x- s9 O9 |* xthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities , H& Y& g# i$ C) R. `* d0 Z

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and " z5 p( {; l0 Q. ~% b5 X1 Q9 q) S  h
execution of the YWCA Strategy 5 ?0 l$ c. F8 g  A
+ t5 i& J! `, Z7 ], `
Specific responsibilities include:  : o' a+ a* u) j9 w" t! @# Y
, b- N$ [9 M# ^
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of + J; x; T- q: D0 t
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
( s1 C8 Z& C+ T2 N7 A2 [& Ythe Board of Directors;  
* p* Q1 G* H4 E( o8 @0 D•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 k- _9 A1 Z0 D, p6 f# f& O# ]
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
3 d# @+ G  W( a' C3 _. X3 Cenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ; P+ k6 ~: {' r. m4 J
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and + V9 a$ ?5 q4 _" |6 E- Y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & B% R4 K. n' X
the board;  
- i1 o5 B0 |+ ]9 V! ^  X( Y, R•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  1 W9 l" b6 t$ @3 [* ^3 Y7 z
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ; C- M; W  C3 s4 `/ ?( z. h: G
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; . s# j$ T  X" l
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the , q) m$ V; e6 V$ L0 C
changing needs of the organization and community; ( M- l; [8 E% O+ v9 @
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) V4 {- J/ e! E3 O
commitments;
5 @% c( }( U: }/ K0 X5 z: O( u•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  + k- ?; c, z) ?8 D2 }! M3 B% v
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
. E) C9 h) S+ I+ e: [+ {% dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  " K5 Y. ?+ O  o) S: \
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , z' p. G2 [- Q0 M
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ; N! D, t$ N9 b9 h7 b% m
effectively and positively represent the association;
6 I; K) s5 m7 D9 U: \1 ?3 W  {, H. U% A4 N! x% ~
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ) c+ ^# g( ~# e: s" \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  ; O8 l" R! z$ Y( d" J! N* |0 i
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 1 M4 m( K! ~! t8 s
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
5 j1 c& N; {3 @# Q( K/ ythe forthcoming year;  - K9 A6 p) ^/ [1 z! R! {
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
$ I" _! D+ c. q+ b4 Wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 r8 ~' \# D$ @' HYWCA Canada; and
+ r1 x9 C8 Q' @! X$ h8 J•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 3 K, Z$ u7 A$ q5 c9 R8 U. c; J' s
Forces.

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 0 F2 _- V) J; C6 }, m2 c6 ?
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus , g% h$ @3 V% l. `) E
around decisions, plans and actions; 7 {4 z. J& s& G
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
6 Y. z0 N2 m6 R) z9 e& c8 J) x1 T•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
7 e; O8 \7 a' E+ [; Cand achievable with realistic timeframes; 3 p2 l6 }8 A. A
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 7 R0 ^+ n) m. E
simultaneously; & _) z- v/ d: W1 x+ y
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 8 t, X+ f  d, N9 Z% R7 q+ I
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

•  Superior negotiation skills.

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 7 a7 `* b4 s. q8 }9 u( G

: s; g+ |6 l! v0 C6 ^+ `/ VRequired Experience 9 D* T7 [! ]( N9 }. q; y9 m
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; * Y: a( O- L$ Q4 D$ g4 U8 |1 L
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( _7 {. Y2 ]6 a! `' D& W7 [8 n3 Vabilities; - j& k* G; C1 @: a# u4 r( }
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 1 O6 B0 I# j4 P: {  o1 w
Networking and Fundraising; ! |% I# a: I) P& K
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 0 }0 m* B; p" `# L- [
and financial statements; and ; ~: V( m. B/ b, o0 P
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
