Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; M E' x& D, ?, zexecution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
" j' g. ] D u; |2 B* y- Qthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 J- W8 z9 M; v( N2 Q
the Board of Directors; - Q3 k; m6 `( M( q
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
0 d- a( r- y1 b9 ^' i! @3 S4 ?including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
; O$ t; d' u2 n1 i( q! a/ `5 [: nenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! `1 S# o1 O p& ] n# c* V, ~( l5 ]: ~
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 6 _) }8 {) }# Z" K
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

* l$ z8 m+ w( C2 ^) |! Z2 ]: C• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ; v. Z5 ]; b8 r; f9 E+ K
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion # f8 ]2 X/ ^- r' s' V5 X
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # z, c) G" Z) Q1 f5 V
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
# W+ O( r* S4 H+ z bchanging needs of the organization and community;
8 v: T4 j8 r0 \' i: f5 U _6 h• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 ? Y% u3 u+ I# d0 s, S8 @2 H
commitments;
3 I# R4 E' r6 `• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 0 }; I& x# }2 v2 L: Q9 s
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / J; u/ p1 F9 o0 V- X
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # R0 G+ P0 V0 x7 A2 Q
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; # b: B& T* W* w l4 i; o3 |/ ] f
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
& D4 X" `5 O5 p3 Z! teffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
9 ?+ k) z5 ~% Mthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ) i Y( q0 K1 o- O. {
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ; k$ V( D3 ^! f2 T4 N- x. ]8 Y+ W* x
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 ~3 w4 O3 `2 U% c
the forthcoming year; 4 r5 E3 b# G- D
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ; J/ d7 j0 e/ ]8 X% ~. Z9 S5 E4 E+ F
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
, M, H' d" ?2 e8 \* J Z/ P- H• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
; ^1 Y. W4 {; \! U9 w• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( r2 h1 K3 E. n/ xabilities; * X7 `; y0 w; r% V6 c& Q- B
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, % g. c \+ S. G3 H; ^; H6 ?; q
Networking and Fundraising; , s3 \, V2 u g6 d! q
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 0 O$ J7 r2 B4 c: |2 S
and financial statements; and
