The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic / g* o4 O) G S2 w, L0 Y$ m

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
& l1 R/ j% r1 V& j& }execution of the YWCA Strategy % m# n A6 `* v
+ ~8 j) Z& k! L) T! \' uSpecific responsibilities include:

the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ' G! ?" O6 B7 I7 O: Y7 ?, m
the Board of Directors;
5 H/ G4 `& W1 y% g0 F5 g• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
8 g T) \% _ L8 Q) E/ Gincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
, i- o2 W& P% v& L$ w' {enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' V9 ^; n2 W( i" c5 y
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
+ h$ j9 g6 B4 k2 K5 ^objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
& O# u$ w5 C% T- s: ^- c Kthe board; ! ]: {- y; a0 s$ S# O8 D
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; # `; x# ?6 L( J, `- d3 U
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
9 J+ _8 B* b0 C1 u* Fthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
6 w+ L: u% _. z" b& W( \( s• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 4 i, ~7 L! B! x0 f$ x6 n
changing needs of the organization and community; + M9 j$ f2 h6 j4 o) }" S. |
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
6 d# A' r2 {6 e8 b4 o% B+ ~7 `commitments;
& o5 F5 \. U" x9 c• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
' E7 Y- \, n/ q3 J$ M8 c2 i• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) t7 U/ O- p$ L2 \selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 5 ^! x- M, t6 F4 d6 v% j
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
( k4 B, r0 d8 h# a, f3 d3 I• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 1 `/ U/ I- z( L9 E6 Z
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 1 x( F0 k- i* t
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 9 X. }% a; Z' _' v: m! D
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( i( ], C" A) M
the forthcoming year;
+ }8 E* N$ ]# B* G, O• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ) `" x( N# ^* P' x
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
2 V: b9 N$ d7 f5 ?5 x1 ~7 ^) lYWCA Canada; and
& E9 o4 E o' I+ e• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
) o. h) V& t. rForces.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( ^/ y1 H2 u4 p. F& i: w. [• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 2 ^6 d/ Z$ F( |- y
abilities; $ t1 N, B# j9 i5 O4 i* |( h3 b$ W, u& n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, & y6 X0 g6 }8 t- Q* @, e* t' P, i0 u3 l
Networking and Fundraising; 5 F9 n/ |9 t) C1 f# P) `# k
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting " T/ d6 k6 f1 f& }

centered perspective.
