Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
! n* c. w5 D* ~execution of the YWCA Strategy : j" \' z) i+ S

. A! y& Z3 m* j8 Z( ?) s, Z• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of * m( d0 R0 B v9 U$ W( B
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 q* M: |* r. \( O) V6 s: \
the Board of Directors;
$ W; F! l6 W9 I# \: u8 ], V% R• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ i2 ^* z/ z- F; d; R, [including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to & g: Y. k) T4 r8 J
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 4 z: e% F" Q8 i$ @
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ N) p, p- |% x
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 4 e* g8 b# a7 P1 g. c( `

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 0 k7 C4 i* u" T. U+ e) j
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 l3 [: v1 `; }
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ; ]4 A; b; t& D2 z" i. W: Q
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
3 a/ S& H9 z2 d9 zchanging needs of the organization and community;
6 L0 `1 K* w9 ?: i" x. L• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
8 T% H; n7 J/ B1 N) g4 }• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* g* D9 Z- |2 A4 D! N" S3 I" qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; : Q9 M$ I8 o6 Q* T G2 d
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' V4 Q3 S( j) Y/ t$ Rthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 2 U/ Q5 S/ F+ |$ h
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 4 z7 A* f9 A" ]1 E
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
* U8 c' N8 \3 q( K$ U9 Fthe forthcoming year; + d Y& ?* G4 k3 A
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- D8 i2 v: @' r x- Xpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ) m) |3 X9 I, `. }& `
YWCA Canada; and & ]/ G# R- n Q3 E! i0 b! \; P
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task & q4 m) N& h$ F, S. n
Forces.

2 {; `. d- x1 M# Q' D w" \6 Z• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 B# f/ Q4 {9 K* A. m9 X
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
4 J" Y0 q; x% s# W9 ]# b+ v4 s9 z0 Gabilities;
* r- C% i" X8 C0 ~ l6 X• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
