Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 d% d2 ^1 C$ ]! |. ^2 R& k1 v5 ethe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
. K1 W& Y* ~" X5 }( @8 ~the Board of Directors;
: {, m R) ?# Q: M; P/ C; L: u• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - y8 f3 Y ?& T
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 8 d. w% F% `2 W9 Z9 _- S, t9 Y7 S2 E
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 8 e2 S" l4 l2 x; C
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
; T5 c5 a* B: a4 y& w* Qobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ' g( N% [6 E3 Q' I4 y2 c
the board;
5 m# @( K/ x4 H$ d& H• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
1 \( s: U9 v; I6 u• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 4 L2 c) O: F" o7 y' b5 J$ P
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) Y, X# _6 e2 L. D1 s• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 1 P7 g/ F: J3 Z, v& X7 @
changing needs of the organization and community; $ v2 _1 x9 |8 K) R6 n& J8 Y
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 9 y; Q- K1 b3 T3 ^3 Q
commitments; $ z( `& N' F( W
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 2 k; w9 _& K# H1 G" g( C3 ^1 k
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective . D, h8 u. g; H; L9 x+ z4 T& Q" T( d
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
7 d c( w( ]9 K5 b% r) a• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

0 X! t e* z+ ^ J5 {5 Q• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
" E% K7 {2 @- ` x3 ]+ ?4 Uthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; : d ~3 A4 v0 {" { T7 [' T' o/ u
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 1 s, @/ h# F8 c; j: r L- q W
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 [3 m! i q' i' V
the forthcoming year; 4 y& q+ g$ @! q( w5 A: H
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: V# `9 e' T7 C' Z, vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of y* M8 |' s+ W, E& L
YWCA Canada; and
+ @5 \3 B" m4 M• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
9 _! R/ q; e$ z( v' u, j• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . R4 A9 k- n; [3 D* ^+ Q
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

Networking and Fundraising;
