Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
* |' W1 c1 V' u* H- i4 Mexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of & B. o# R3 G% A& w, m# @
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
9 X. J+ @2 c* C, d: |4 Othe Board of Directors; 5 Z% @) V9 A: U- m( B/ g
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& E5 n8 f5 n' ]including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
* t/ x$ ~: J1 z f2 b7 N q0 Venable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
0 e/ ^; w3 X4 }5 I• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and " A$ }$ \+ v8 a# } n T" H
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 5 i! Z/ o* A0 r& A' j

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 7 r" D( o) F* B. E, `) L% e" d
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion $ a: x6 d* W! ]- J& p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 E4 v( J) z _. {7 l• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 7 z$ T6 t1 V2 C# c- j
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 B1 I6 y- P7 Y, Z" C
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 ]1 O$ ~5 a/ H9 Z! ?4 O
commitments;
- {2 r. Y/ F! v3 W• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
d1 ~$ h C3 ~" K8 m• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 9 M! w! p( l% K2 j( T6 f' S
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 3 A- Y& o% r! _8 {% x) T
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 ]' Q: w4 q* Z' j
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 h# W. U8 L, }/ s- g
effectively and positively represent the association;

! B0 ]/ i# I2 ^9 _• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 4 ~* s' b+ X# `! k- m3 E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ' s- y' Y: f8 e6 b; O7 S
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
% i- Z9 Z! ~; o' P7 T/ hperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED / V" f) Z( {+ J
the forthcoming year; 6 W& l# H8 U5 [5 b
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
2 W8 A% d: W2 u: _3 R: _practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of * S, B X( P; v2 S9 F w* b

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; c+ Z& ]) C; Y, t+ o
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 9 I* t$ h. b0 [( ]
abilities;
0 u! B0 _6 B$ ~# o• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 j2 n& T9 w- V* hNetworking and Fundraising;
1 N# i$ e; Y+ P0 H• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
' e3 M. r3 J5 Z: {; i5 y" }and financial statements; and $ m7 _' \% t+ I- S
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
