! b" U: s+ l kReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and # L# \8 @8 P+ g! ?9 U% W
execution of the YWCA Strategy 8 A, z4 a0 V! e' T: I
4 e" Z# `) i3 [" D! f2 @& c% K! jSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of , r% m2 u$ U4 M8 c% o. u
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# d: T( k! A& t" J F% a. U. i1 mthe Board of Directors;
: p: ^; Y' I" E6 |/ F2 B• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
c# y8 b/ S0 ^7 \6 `1 X* w* qincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
* K/ f/ P/ H* A; S) R4 lenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 6 r# _) \( b4 L; Q/ Y' H
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' U3 p3 o' d5 J1 v. w. ^) a0 T) _objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by - e4 S; I0 D8 n
the board; 9 O% E! Z/ E; U6 I, L8 j
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; + Q' ] r$ ?! a; Y- r5 [' S
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion $ e2 g8 f( p7 W6 N' p! n+ U, W7 y5 D
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; + }1 y$ A! u/ B0 s o+ s6 x" K
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 2 x% u& `1 e3 S9 v* c2 M
changing needs of the organization and community; 5 c4 [1 a# K" ~- e* q z2 s, t f$ s
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue / y" M& @0 H6 L0 s1 q& z- M
commitments;
; A/ S) ~3 k6 \/ ?4 y- `, t• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
! s) Z; l! e+ t# `• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # }& }4 ` T# `7 D! g
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; $ T; t( _. F4 c0 P4 W( h, a$ Q( a
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
) R. I8 x6 X3 z% d# |• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to . Q2 B- t `- x" [( n4 B
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 Y( M$ T6 T0 D6 b# ~
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; # R6 z* _3 I$ }: P$ h) s9 ]5 ?
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal + ~* Y. x1 H2 H+ G, C
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
* b0 f- w" }6 {2 @practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + p: M" l, _0 J1 `3 _# i
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification / p7 c0 @" x# I( Y s
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; p6 l' K+ W+ W
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
. E6 N' Z# Z/ kabilities;
' h" H" |3 X8 x# N. D% {' h) m. B• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
0 }7 [( r) C- {0 r6 Y; ZNetworking and Fundraising; # D1 @: m1 B& v' n2 M' e
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
- t% ^) B! e4 ^and financial statements; and
) m" r2 [. J% ]( `• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
