Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and - J7 v& N; s4 g- I
execution of the YWCA Strategy

2 a) \+ Q2 o. G! kSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
$ n n5 c. H3 ^/ T7 O# }the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by # I) `$ g$ ^' V: O
the Board of Directors;
$ J$ W! k, |8 \• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ! ^/ k: `( H- E1 A4 g$ y6 E3 R6 S
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to . d* W/ A: m7 q+ ^
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;

objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by * r: f! q' @$ Q' x! l

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; % B/ i2 v! n( F
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion $ K3 w. Z) a$ \+ p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
( g9 ^9 n& c! V% t' j3 V• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
/ p# t1 O C; t4 h0 ^. \changing needs of the organization and community; - e$ D) c! K* r: Z- `7 r. z$ F$ _
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue m' d! m4 @) h2 i% z
commitments; x0 s0 u- ] f- i. N0 o6 k2 s
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
0 m: f" A- M$ e+ R" I* h3 ?• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
6 f% u: H) @$ ^selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
( ` a" ~# S+ p1 h h% U" S+ a• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , w e R( N# b m3 r: N# n
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 _7 p+ g' _( ^& L3 Q
effectively and positively represent the association; / d) [9 ^; |) V. b) x

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
+ A4 x1 z% H6 I, |: [+ [0 othe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
% ^- r( h w+ H3 i0 w• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& J/ X, k) [" G7 X& Z% ?performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
7 b( n7 n0 x# d8 C$ o" |) L6 hthe forthcoming year;
* H! J! e: Z6 _" I: v4 P) l; `• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
) s* Z% c5 z) R+ L0 Mpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 1 F, D3 E6 P. ?+ T" k4 U
YWCA Canada; and

Required Experience ( j) v7 E* K9 J& w' D W f9 Y8 b8 m# n
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
6 s' o6 | w6 k% X• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( ^& N; K# f2 e2 X/ H- ?# mabilities;
. s' v' b/ P, i( i• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 h& w- B. n6 b$ ?5 U) b6 qNetworking and Fundraising;
