The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic & ] \% H; ]2 z# J3 E
thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead

surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and , h, ^+ N/ j' Z. H% w5 O2 }# T
execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
. Z$ p/ N( r6 \the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by - Z- ~# g( e: V9 G1 Q' ?
the Board of Directors;
7 S! V* q3 l+ ?% @" ?8 K0 G• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
3 W& P! b$ _9 N( V6 Kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 7 {4 @/ U4 P: ]9 a! T! x( E
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ) w6 [4 R+ e9 {! j( u9 \$ D
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 }4 O ~2 T7 F g
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ g0 c. Z$ e; H$ ^( a1 i
the board;
& m! H! A4 _7 o( g- f' j8 m; a• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
$ [, F: {$ Z: o# e4 p. ?• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
! X% i4 f! H/ _6 I0 g5 qthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
, o, p# F9 x0 i, Q• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # e+ m2 [# g( }% N0 \$ R% B0 [
changing needs of the organization and community;
( J1 H% m* p& \) s6 w* G; v• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 4 Y" m' T1 x& V2 Z) v
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
2 R6 E4 s' u/ ^% U' fselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; $ |8 H8 [, z/ H! f) r* s; Y
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
9 n0 r, [; U4 L: x• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

4 Z, @# h# ]6 t2 N- ]. a/ L• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring % j& w C6 N( y" p$ E2 ]# E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
# r7 D0 i( E7 H- v• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
5 S1 B9 a9 c: J. v! z1 L5 [performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
$ l! z4 J7 e1 B$ C) d2 {the forthcoming year; 6 M! G4 @/ p) e z8 m
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! \4 j% S: S/ _1 ?practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ! a1 o/ `6 g# o. H" N
YWCA Canada; and
) n# G# E' z' K' g• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 8 x: @+ ?0 w0 K# j M! d1 ?

• Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

: @7 {1 @! a( r4 |. k• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
) C6 S7 l1 j1 q0 c% _3 v• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
% X( G6 p! n! }! }abilities; % {1 X0 c, a: O% S k* Y
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 3 ]- r( T" m. p5 J+ s
Networking and Fundraising;
