3 `! B: ]' z7 t9 i- gthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
- w* |  o" ]# z, eEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and ) u4 L( k; F# L( T
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities $ \: ~2 O, R/ ^* n

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
3 D6 N' F, X" B: J# h  Q1 a& L; Fexecution of the YWCA Strategy ( x" D3 @2 r2 `; o

4 x6 U3 Q, d. s* K/ fSpecific responsibilities include:  ( D: E- X. e5 S

' l. M' o8 J# z2 W- V9 P( A•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
, l$ |, Z' w% G6 }2 p/ K4 \the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
+ O) J8 Q  u2 Ithe Board of Directors;  
4 l! Y% ^' p! t•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % t# _3 a9 q1 c) q9 N: f# P
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
! r( J) f) m  S! A/ F4 s& D2 Benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
6 W& s" r" F. D! p•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 4 K+ y8 O* a1 B; e5 Q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
. j* _9 Y9 g) t( b6 zthe board;  
% d7 {/ z" r) u0 E5 `7 @0 d6 t9 n•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
' d( v) V  a2 G, L3 l2 j•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + @3 a$ X1 {4 G5 ?: R
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
% a: A+ ]/ T3 X, G: J% L•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
; u3 G- b+ y! O" c9 q# S7 achanging needs of the organization and community;
' Z6 ]) s* n2 R7 p$ h4 f: K•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 9 r. Q. o: W* P. G
commitments; ; F: q; f7 E  v- b4 T  ?8 Q
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
. @# n  g9 W5 f- ]3 _+ k& L•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) x, V, R. _# [6 [7 b3 q; H
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  9 q1 Q7 s. h4 i+ m; U
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
# o# U  ?& _4 O2 A# p•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to * m" ?4 d8 M& M* K1 ?( d: _' M
effectively and positively represent the association;
% X0 i& w" l) |# |. m' h# G
$ f( t3 k* @7 W+ ?' n/ M•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
2 F3 C* i. G. Z. T( r/ a4 \$ hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
! D" J+ X& {0 G4 Q3 T•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' _, f9 x# h5 j1 ?2 c/ I" ^4 v/ Cperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
1 w& G" C6 q, \the forthcoming year;  6 x0 r3 P: S# a3 Q  P+ p- \# Y
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
* _' \/ k7 n9 _  cpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of # G/ v0 `7 ^) M+ H. D
YWCA Canada; and + a: H' R  ]" n
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ; B' a+ }' }% H+ Z0 w' G  ^5 h

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

6 e5 X9 E- S; h' E0 _* M# U9 E•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
! M1 b, B/ `& Xrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
) d8 ]  k2 g) J•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 5 i0 r5 r; w: M/ ?
•  Superior negotiation skills.

: g# \/ @' P; e4 c Required Professional Designation / Certification 7 [% ]; w, ]7 D0 w. S
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
9 d4 W1 W1 }- ]- V( O& J' `
! A. |9 J$ x3 p5 W* o6 KRequired Experience + Y* `$ K  r4 }; W* P: w
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; # \6 M/ `  X" N- Y4 I# @: y
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
$ G0 r* }) s/ v7 F2 Z8 A9 k/ e% Rabilities; ) h3 N/ @9 L3 J6 O  G$ G: M9 }
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ; c6 w$ j7 z( X  O7 R
Networking and Fundraising; ( G# I2 r3 c3 `8 P' q! R5 h7 E
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
4 @) ?/ P; Y% i7 A* S. _2 zand financial statements; and
  h6 T. l2 c- y3 b5 i0 G8 n•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
5 `2 j# e: g7 L% f  O& Pcentered perspective.
