6 w( a$ M% b; zReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
$ p& g: l: V9 }& F5 w1 t* Bexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: ! L7 E; \5 n/ m% D6 J
" ?* l+ m) m9 \ c; t& h• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ; H0 A2 S1 ]5 W0 d8 p" {' n
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 U$ `6 V+ t# e" R4 g9 ^the Board of Directors;
& ?5 p- ]6 t9 W" K; @0 h• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 h1 ]5 p+ B( ~0 ?. ?
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to * M, M$ O1 f+ J- B/ v
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 9 K# E) P& Y7 C3 q. J
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
; o8 A8 Y& G# _( s& Hobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ f- n' v/ B: z# J: }
the board; 1 h: g# p l. N' A1 x" G
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
q! V+ f5 s6 g0 W. d# S• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 0 t) [4 J$ W! D: z* _3 e1 g. K
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 8 k, X2 p* p& L; R! v. Q! B
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
5 x, k Q" d* |; cchanging needs of the organization and community; , d# ^, U2 [- w* t
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
5 h, j2 b- i9 Y7 w7 lcommitments; 4 a2 c H8 Z6 ?8 i+ m" K
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 T& r+ T# q5 G2 N' z
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ i" R V# h( I( q- Iselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 9 v8 ?& i6 m1 n) m* }1 a7 ~
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
: v2 c6 D% b& Y ]& {* X% \• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to $ X) B0 t! z" i
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring & s1 e, M# Z! \% o' ~! J1 N, _4 G
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
: G0 v3 q( `7 O/ h1 j, d2 a) y2 e• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
# [' p6 j) o9 @% Xperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 T5 b" c; T' d% ?
the forthcoming year;
' N5 @+ p" _) k0 H• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
5 p; i3 u7 h6 K# C: F5 Upractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
' Y. |1 b6 m" O5 q$ qYWCA Canada; and
( W. J- P" h# o: [# g, ^• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification 4 K K7 I2 `+ B/ ]- c% U% y
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

! O4 g. d2 l. x: `• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
! t+ p# F+ q& I- i& E' ?% i$ c• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 F; i" j/ H% k" F. D

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ) b) w$ ~% e7 `. d( [. c
Networking and Fundraising; + F5 r. B% k& |$ D8 m+ b* O
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting / T& ^( H3 e3 m2 ~) D

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
