Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & c9 J6 l, A/ p2 P' z. Z
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
9 I% a9 C7 k* Hincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
) d. K2 e3 Q; L9 K7 @0 c' oenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ; c8 {) x* P1 D2 O+ A& Y" s9 @
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
0 D2 E9 _# E1 f+ T u9 V% e. gobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , H& V Y- G+ p+ l4 t" a3 [
the board; ; J |- Z8 m7 M# } o# O
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
& M: ]9 P; a. \+ u& |• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) h; M( w' m! j/ m
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
( ~. l# B g6 t# W( {• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
: D' T% o+ i7 S9 bchanging needs of the organization and community; 1 p# o5 P. [2 L1 v% R
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 F) P1 i* x# J) V# C# a( S
commitments;
9 U* G! w" Z( G+ ` a7 _, v• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
% p- b# d" N" y4 _& E" p• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' r# W% p, ]) e& a0 ?
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
4 k* J* E# U! H' G7 z3 h% r• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
9 \- n) r! G# }( u `2 h• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 9 c+ o1 |. `6 i" K, x% u& N7 k. m
effectively and positively represent the association; * a0 F. T0 g; [0 G( M$ m3 @
1 j; E! h$ F3 g6 n• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ^$ l" [! K. H* q* {
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; + v2 h( d# S& E7 n" D: s: D) i
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
/ N% n* W2 O( w: w- X! B( tperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED W1 ^" f8 F4 j- S) R
the forthcoming year;
, y+ V6 N- G7 F. s• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical " S& `( H$ z+ X6 o
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 7 R2 T2 t% @2 O
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; # ]9 \3 {) I% ]9 C) o" H" r
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 4 A: s8 k0 B0 s
abilities; ) `3 a( l( H0 O. g3 M# A2 r ]) D
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
# w' I" @& A0 ^* ]: [! a2 ?Networking and Fundraising; + t' B) y/ f% N J2 c
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
0 c" ~6 C V) K& uand financial statements; and
1 X% h9 u0 b) \1 o, C• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
