/ |# Q/ B/ K" z7 f6 i5 ethis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

+ l7 }( M4 T1 ?Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; m+ H8 ]. @% G$ yexecution of the YWCA Strategy
! p/ c7 ~7 x5 \) R' a4 H
# ~5 J! }0 f. a; mSpecific responsibilities include:  ; g) O: s) x* ~8 C

- N- `6 ?, z) W# ^, W% ^; ~  _•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
0 t& b. c% Y8 u7 ?+ P, [9 [1 y& ]# Q$ [( rthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( h' P6 M+ R5 i% K5 Y0 b0 K* s* [
the Board of Directors;  ( F/ `' P' ^2 t. `: ^! d0 o
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 7 ]$ o8 ^9 `1 Q. ], E
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 9 R  e. {( ]0 C; @/ [( ?! S0 B
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 8 T1 i# h. \) B1 o% o9 v
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
8 J" B5 B* t% Zobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
8 L; ]0 k( [# [; m! w+ U( v8 Bthe board;  
& P8 H8 D' Y/ k+ k  n4 v, j9 d•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  6 f7 m$ A# Y7 j" y6 }
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 4 R7 [$ ^( x. t9 _7 E
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 3 C% e- A% Y' i9 P
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the $ c( G) B6 Y6 L; C% e4 U" U6 A. H! H
changing needs of the organization and community; - U% i2 N; P$ p+ e: Q
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue / Z) ~& U# r. {0 y
commitments;
1 c1 j* d+ l3 ]. h! I& P/ P; }•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
+ w5 M1 u8 N; D5 x8 H* m. n•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 J+ P7 Z* i2 q! F* {, i
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  8 _! a, f4 {3 u8 S; K$ x7 m. @, ?, @
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
, y) x2 C+ m: _: K•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
+ ]1 ^" o0 ?. u  ^* h2 r2 v- }  n1 beffectively and positively represent the association; $ N$ f: L; ?7 o8 r3 M0 ?

•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring   ~! H. O% x- B9 a. [8 x
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  3 V  W" D5 N( o9 U* E2 U8 L
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
* ?6 i& b/ b. T' K8 eperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) j1 f) d1 ~" V; ]2 S. B
the forthcoming year;  ' \" S: J8 |& m0 ~: l# ]
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
2 b! d* u1 ~) [4 q: Y' v- Cpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; C! S/ @7 q" N# m# EYWCA Canada; and
# x& Q$ i3 Z$ d•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
2 O7 d0 W3 h4 O) ]9 EForces.

Required Skills & Abilities 2 v' W4 p! g+ u' b0 p
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 2 {2 Z! h$ n$ r+ r
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
- v" v0 T' W2 h/ o" J2 u' [around decisions, plans and actions;
, X3 f( e3 m5 G2 \4 R•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; + u" u! {* x) {; K- k4 G/ B
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 6 E- O$ |  g: M4 Y* x
and achievable with realistic timeframes; / l- U* z( J% Y: |# E" M, U! h" i
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
; H% H% G. S1 Q! lsimultaneously;
0 K, Y# q+ D- b6 L" T( g•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
7 k  d% R; g( Y4 Crapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
) ?8 X7 W8 J$ H6 `: ]8 {9 b, w% U•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and - t, {# s* ]& m+ O# T
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification * T( F( ?. d) @0 o3 z
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
+ Y* t! t) d8 O6 i ; D8 ^$ G5 \# \8 B- t2 a* t6 w
Required Experience
( u2 v4 L4 T/ I  F2 t•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; % m6 r% I! ?+ d- p! J
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 o1 v7 A: u' p- U4 t2 g8 M
abilities; / X5 X8 |/ q) P% n$ M! U+ B
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 H6 n' n; R; w9 b" R  @
Networking and Fundraising; : @0 c# _& t5 {
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 0 G, z( \( t* r( M+ ]. [5 G5 b
and financial statements; and
. {/ q% y1 }- d•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
! P6 Y% s+ B$ L) i; k' y. W) ecentered perspective.   k$ A5 P+ b0 v5 X
