The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ! s$ H, V+ L8 K' C, Z; O$ q+ f1 t
execution of the YWCA Strategy 0 E1 x6 b& `* O8 I7 m* q* O9 `* d
A' Z; }% o- T/ U. C, R& d: _8 _' ]Specific responsibilities include:

* z X- }7 R. C( B• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
* V4 C& h1 U. {* a3 S( othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by . `, Z) ^: I+ B$ T0 u' B

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
) ?4 a+ r' Y0 Oincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ( M ~# ~/ m q: U; q% `* S( i8 x
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
9 f& H! q1 l( n a* `$ w• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
9 I/ h' V8 }, \5 H$ @; ^objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
' W# ~2 Z7 Y5 d& ?/ W• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; `! m3 o* s0 m0 `the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ! [8 y) W3 F) j" V+ p. k
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " d, |/ P& B2 h' @: |$ Z
changing needs of the organization and community;
+ Z$ B8 S0 p: N4 g' d8 L• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
C3 e$ w6 P3 i+ dcommitments;
* l' u5 J; c, |$ ^8 T2 h• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
* ^9 o, A2 X) @7 [" x* F+ w• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : f/ f) i" @: c9 m- y
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # v. k2 `+ z/ M( l" N
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

effectively and positively represent the association; 6 i9 ^* Y* o# t4 e, |

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
3 `6 m, f9 I' Cthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
! S$ Q+ J1 S2 _ k) Z' m# D• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
) N4 y. `- r) j5 o1 U3 A. ~7 v: rperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
5 o# R2 H$ [- k+ l; W. zthe forthcoming year;
1 G; f7 ]& ?2 p; g• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
8 T& }+ O4 q& ]% w8 Rpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - p" Y. I4 e. I/ N- w
YWCA Canada; and

Required Experience
- b$ f$ `, i/ ?$ F: s! @• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; - g6 @: \' B1 h3 X
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
, p+ C( ^1 ^5 \) \! D8 ^: Y# oabilities; 4 T' c7 F; \! u X
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, % t: Q+ G# g( M u1 _4 O
Networking and Fundraising;
6 k$ y0 K# r. J+ R$ m: ~• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting P5 `: z4 w7 R f E
and financial statements; and
+ K& ?, o. {3 P) c, R: N) d. h• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
