The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 3 X. Z3 |8 Y* C Y
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of # K9 I. F6 H% _2 r
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
0 c2 N( P5 A. l9 E& d2 ?$ Hthe Board of Directors;
2 h, C9 m& C% f• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
" L7 H# Q1 X7 o8 P# m1 \! _including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to $ ~/ o) S- p; M5 {; q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 ~6 ~6 h) h( t• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
7 ]- U% ~ u1 M. K! C3 Fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
8 R+ @" G) Z3 s+ C% N• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 c3 ? k( z9 A% w1 b6 d
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 9 u: Q8 X+ ` g& m1 w/ x' X
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% _, t2 K. e! Kchanging needs of the organization and community;
3 L- a4 T, O% m: y; [0 D: n• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : ~- D( {1 h$ U0 Y
commitments; 3 I/ e) V/ d0 b
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
' v* R1 P4 a8 t• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
$ p/ L8 |1 [2 Z& F" o! Bselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;

• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
) E$ S# H4 ?0 h3 L: Pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ; |1 s4 z3 U) ?: ^0 P
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal : t' P6 t v7 e5 H: ?$ v% G+ ` M
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
% Z6 t9 n3 ]5 \) y) ~: Q, Q9 g, i: u- xthe forthcoming year; 5 g v9 s5 v) s( H! d
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 6 Z; X8 v. G, }9 L9 t( r
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 6 o2 H) ^* Y* |4 p3 D
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 i. h( r: O0 {0 p: D
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 5 J5 r8 D& `6 r% ]( b
abilities; 8 O0 Z1 n G$ P/ O' U$ X
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 8 i8 J6 E" {/ C- z4 j. f
Networking and Fundraising; % `2 ^' D9 i* d) H& N1 ?; ]% p( h
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
