Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% [" B3 u9 b) q% ?the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# s4 ~1 Y5 } E2 S$ Zthe Board of Directors; M! H d& N8 t
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ }! U _+ B" R# W0 C, [& a5 Hincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % \# e8 C9 _7 @5 O. H$ z: @
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
7 Y! ~5 e7 }0 f1 }• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ ?' C f; j& ]6 _7 H# M1 D: C) dobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 7 c' T8 i" k- U0 x6 Q' }+ g
the board;
9 m' l# e2 o# D/ f5 h• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
/ \& Z4 u- s0 r5 \" V2 v: e• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
7 u( _" T; O% T9 S$ ~+ ~the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
p/ o) E: L$ Z• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / R# H0 I! X3 J n j9 r: @
changing needs of the organization and community;
6 S# z% Y1 G8 l• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

* v4 i) v4 X* H- n5 |' {% ?7 H• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; d* h, d) d/ ^9 E) _1 i, v
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective L2 q3 [) i/ N- c. Z
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 5 P+ L# h* ?) k1 U0 l
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; * ?' c" n, {( M5 s5 Y: i
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
* w3 ~/ }4 T" O9 F0 I. eeffectively and positively represent the association; ) m# ?1 a4 e0 a" T( G9 m9 U
9 U4 l( ]& M3 G: Q E• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / `, ^, }9 X# O X2 F" M7 |0 x. D4 B
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
0 ` Q! O$ ^- N# `" X! [9 E0 v• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
$ \& V& T7 ^5 y9 Eperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 K& o6 Q6 f, B) ^
the forthcoming year; $ b, z' E0 H7 ~4 `% t& z3 H
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' M _6 B- ^& `& c7 r; b3 k
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / t( F* b. u+ @% b; `0 d H+ } G
YWCA Canada; and 8 T+ Q+ e M, D X: }5 e
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

2 h& A" `6 t7 C Required Professional Designation / Certification
& x! ~$ |; L3 i, \• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

. j5 L1 w' | ~: s7 k+ C- p' z• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 8 a& ?# M0 {+ R# l) \
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation " [! t8 f% g4 r: s
abilities;
z, G! ^2 ]5 X; x• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
2 m4 [- g" H# Z9 w' B- K+ pNetworking and Fundraising;
4 f: W( k( J6 `: F; X0 q• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 9 y4 g, D* Y7 x8 x) q
and financial statements; and
/ g2 M/ U4 b, b+ V$ X% P2 O/ w1 U• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women + x' n: j5 ~8 l
centered perspective.
