Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 0 x9 \7 c/ Q( n
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

2 `' G0 o3 i7 Z3 @; B& } j4 v% Z• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' s! V$ _8 ]1 y$ z! g2 p7 mthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
/ e% s C( R% ^. ?9 A7 Dthe Board of Directors;
: e( U% _ Q1 |7 X- {• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 L3 z" X( ^' Yincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to * c' F0 v: p0 V7 [. E+ `- t- k
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
9 ~# M6 U2 o/ O$ n/ b& W+ X# `% i* s• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 0 @' E4 o& T0 p; q, y T+ _' S
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " @1 h5 } w& Z6 {- |9 p% {* x

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 1 z1 s: m2 A+ ]6 J
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
+ ^% V4 a$ i( Z' G7 X* ?9 ~the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
' C1 y- R. d4 g* a• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ( s' J7 k, f! Q- E/ d4 E
changing needs of the organization and community; 1 Q% h! M t' v0 ?1 z+ q! H
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + E1 L5 B. I4 a& x) I' K3 P2 @- A! W
commitments; + N. A0 l' ?5 z8 Y
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; - A% `8 J2 W+ t! b9 `
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
0 C! _2 l4 g4 n! J {8 wselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 9 u) g8 U1 h; Z( j
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
1 p4 a, `2 g; ^* E• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % M2 h$ Y* K7 D8 n8 {1 K$ _5 D: S
effectively and positively represent the association; 7 U/ P3 k* f+ T3 s3 c$ s3 P. C
~/ c. C8 J/ _; L, f# h" ?. J9 U• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
) \& A$ ] c0 V$ _the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
* a! Y2 |; b% x• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- B/ d- \& F6 ]4 F5 c: Qperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! J9 \$ o5 @) c& R8 [% ythe forthcoming year;
' K/ X$ l" \, D4 L& [: }; }3 s• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
( a/ t( E1 o4 `' j, {$ Y* epractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + t% D$ F5 Q4 l N
YWCA Canada; and
( o% L, C2 L( A! Z1 k• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
8 |" z1 t t8 {& X• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% Q' h( `- k* N* m7 w2 C: x- u: Z/ @• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation % P) k0 L5 m/ Q1 B9 @7 J* @; R

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 1 b8 _6 F; e/ X3 X1 G
Networking and Fundraising;
