Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 9 O, ~* f1 j7 Y! E2 K
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
3 ^# f- i& l5 ~2 H, Pthe Board of Directors; ' G9 J! R8 _% k4 Z" M, Z' `& Y
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ C3 @5 \; S2 @# |9 A7 y7 k* }9 _including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
( k+ H' |9 c/ Aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! t! j3 n4 g: E7 q) A2 X! a
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ' Z1 e8 t3 T8 h, h$ L3 {
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , {" |" p- A* i9 q" h

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 0 ] r/ K( J$ p- N7 K$ f- m4 ]
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 B \! |% s. f- o2 D( ithe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
^; z8 x" `% ~$ v. N( @- @• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 V* s; \; [8 u/ S) K+ u' n* ychanging needs of the organization and community; 8 V! e; q; Q( ?+ O( y$ T
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : v4 f A3 ?7 e$ L
commitments;
$ Z* Z( K" r: E& `& Z$ l K$ F$ I• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
, {" y, N, ~& j, u9 B$ f• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 8 j! I4 B: `3 o; L0 ~" G H
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
$ k" x$ [8 ^* U% q l9 {• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 7 p( k1 D y" X$ _) a& I Y: [
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 5 K( _0 ~4 H B1 Z% o1 Q1 R
effectively and positively represent the association;

" D) O8 c0 W) h7 ?3 f" C• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& H: Y( G5 ?3 ?3 _$ \! g7 Lthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
( `) S2 h9 X; _! b% R• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % C4 b/ l2 z2 ?
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED $ |% ~# F3 [8 @6 v' L' r" L
the forthcoming year;
' {- |2 g9 @/ w) }. o; ]5 Q( Z7 t• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
2 i. G6 v) G/ ^- o, e0 G% Mpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

abilities; 8 Q! O- Q( N& c) D0 f. Z
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 5 b" A7 d: {# M- B9 _
and financial statements; and
