Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 T0 M& G0 ^4 Dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 m# \* @& `/ \3 R6 f; U' L0 j# I
the Board of Directors; 6 h( `& r; E1 V3 L' N0 k
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - U: [ z/ G) B/ G
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& v) z7 Z9 T8 Z, B5 lenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
2 \/ T9 m# G8 N5 K0 j& F• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 2 {4 X: T) H0 D* I. f, T
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & N! G& p, v }0 n% [) I& N6 ?% b

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
+ {* P% }" T* R1 |' ^5 F* P1 m• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ B3 H. D; j/ E$ z, fthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
) n6 y8 |% \0 u$ E* I# B2 |• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 3 f! h+ e' {7 |3 |3 o
changing needs of the organization and community;
4 M/ R8 r5 V7 Y• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 q2 G1 G( `+ b2 C: s& w/ Y
commitments;
& x8 Q, h2 A X3 j2 J. Y• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
, u# v8 t1 W3 W3 f# r1 g, e• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
! `. H% f% a Q' }' H- b- H& Vselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 9 c& y* @7 c# g4 J% V
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
( q, _' ?* ^$ g3 N• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
+ W4 |* Q+ N. K) p% X6 ethe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 0 L5 e6 g. @+ X' f' B4 T
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal # h/ I; R: j! S; r+ k
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ; x/ b! Q( y7 c6 _
the forthcoming year; 4 h& Y: x: J7 I; G
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 0 `# t9 `' a' A0 ?; c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 W" y/ l6 @8 OYWCA Canada; and
+ { R6 _; ~6 N• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

( Y4 {& p* P; w+ u) v2 S* P6 b" [• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; % y# H2 ]# B: }! x. Z1 p
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : h/ c t7 n: B5 P" |, [2 g" U4 e
Networking and Fundraising;

and financial statements; and
