execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
0 n* I; x$ I' Athe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
6 I- x9 g" ^ b ]- Mthe Board of Directors; + r9 f5 P: L! w. [* k k! I
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
! l+ j* q: F8 B( p, jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to # e1 L4 D9 A* [. x
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 4 s+ Q9 s" C: l* s% J: d
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 8 v4 p3 T% `% b# Z$ E7 _4 U
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ! J, H* }" B, B! j) k V5 a+ S
the board; v6 o& V1 J( K) M5 B+ @6 G( {, q
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 2 k+ [2 P6 w, E2 I, V9 p
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
! M& H: r* `, ~8 K" A; d& Z' xthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
M- y. F( n0 D% h, S3 L" _• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 6 S4 A$ \) x) n/ f: ~3 x3 r
changing needs of the organization and community; ) j' V* C0 d# E+ C+ t
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
\1 ^: F/ t% {5 jcommitments; 6 G: o8 Z* [" K' x- e4 b
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
& f5 J( S2 l( m5 C+ l' J• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : A% ]5 H0 g) G" X% u* o0 _
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ; y$ C) s2 u+ Y T S
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
* r5 W3 j0 }( h) b+ Hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; + T0 \: h9 T5 e( n" {5 V
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ( L: W. e/ a: r5 H. _% |( f
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
9 N! o4 b* l) ?5 G( Y+ C+ D% Sthe forthcoming year; 9 O2 ^5 o) @/ W' n4 [. `1 v ~
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
/ x$ ^1 z+ O/ Q8 b8 T& }practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ( k; l9 I7 x9 |, Y
YWCA Canada; and
( [# }* H- o' ^• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

; @, V# W4 ~$ A5 p" H7 M• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, # z; k3 i6 T* I6 E0 U$ B- {

and financial statements; and
