The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

3 U- _7 d2 t1 HReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
. M% O; I$ G$ X9 F$ W5 [: a' [execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
: H5 _& M) Q! c* w T7 E* ]5 cthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
. ?- @1 z; |+ F8 Tthe Board of Directors;
3 i8 k) D1 |! V( Y* N. B) s* x• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - X6 `7 H0 O$ |/ @8 F) r2 G
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ m. j& V9 y) _4 u& uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
+ I/ K" K" { U7 u" d& S; ^• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : M0 A4 A5 ^) x# \
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, y' ~7 Z% K; O' A+ z; gthe board;
6 V) ?: w2 u4 v* r• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
$ h! n1 s4 Y$ k• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion

• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

. a. Y6 V! C: I: J& o4 A, Q• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue & t1 H6 v) `5 \9 q6 c1 _# x
commitments;
4 R8 Y' f( l3 H" n- n/ \ P; k2 W• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ( `6 B' k! F9 R9 L# F! d
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
% G- O$ @5 J% L5 {selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 6 a. o9 N: |! }) L
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 O" H* @( W% E9 E1 X* K
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to * W/ o" o1 w' r6 S/ O
effectively and positively represent the association;

: E. c. l! R9 @3 s$ r( ]• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
1 R% \! J) _+ e* E' Q, xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 7 `1 T# H& w! g0 }% S+ @
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
! v _' E# F' ^- z0 N" Hperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
6 c; r' S0 M7 H: z4 x0 mthe forthcoming year;
6 c& d( `# [- Y% [& l• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical * E" h5 a* |1 u5 n2 [; h' _5 F
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
6 e7 O2 J- L# C6 E1 Z) ?YWCA Canada; and
+ v$ o' S2 L( U, q+ |6 Y6 m• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
4 v1 B) {( u- g1 u" V$ d& q, q• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 9 J! S1 U0 C8 g1 @4 l

Required Experience
$ |, j- [5 E. x• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
. D% g) K: j+ c: v) D• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
& ^! X- C' y0 `/ E4 ~( Jabilities;
5 F+ J* Q( m- l' ^9 k2 @3 ?- h: v• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, # \3 r( S% ~' S0 ^8 v
Networking and Fundraising;
