Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and $ `6 b0 M7 ^8 h9 t7 P- N
execution of the YWCA Strategy

# d$ P2 A1 B9 h' M& A5 |# s+ PSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 m3 E' M" y4 N( Mthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 Z+ k( ^+ k3 p! Y! |0 U" rthe Board of Directors;
+ x" b$ M( z; o; S• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
, s/ p1 z& ]! a" k: S& L6 Gincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
. f0 Z6 [* P4 K% v) s! _enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
1 F. J. I( _$ m• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
8 P$ r, u0 j0 K! A- Z ~objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 1 W+ t4 U; z. Q" o; P

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; : w5 s) {6 j+ i2 I9 w
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
- Q' H; [8 c. G% E' sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 0 ~; L, m$ l1 u6 G7 @9 }, y8 z
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 1 ~; R0 F1 I7 y+ K: }
changing needs of the organization and community; 0 O+ y% T! B& O! `2 d C% h
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
% j' P. S! o( \* _- ucommitments; % Y. n+ ?% d0 M$ L
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 A0 X: O, v9 Z8 e2 S
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / T5 [( P% Q( h- |# d) ~- o
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
' [- D/ P) R( O$ f6 O• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
1 M# H% ?; M" E! k& }• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) e# ]) ?" m3 y' z! I1 I9 ?
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 e2 b0 l5 ~. {# R$ d/ _: z) gthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 9 M6 w1 c2 F' y' Q# f4 F
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , A4 H4 {: _# r. d
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 z' u* D( \' Q1 W Y
the forthcoming year; , k, e {; E% l8 _& J
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical . f3 O* J: c- ?5 N8 _. f
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
% l8 p$ T, e) z7 W% X, `# i& dYWCA Canada; and
* p& I& k0 i+ B• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task * b u/ v% T: ^! y

Required Professional Designation / Certification
' h" J7 ]' E5 {/ J4 {• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. " m$ _ z G( O3 a
/ f# V7 h# [! G# hRequired Experience
h0 x1 K$ V" d& w& j• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . M; F g& O# i1 i4 y, j; \) \
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation & S- @; ]: H& d. k: T& D
abilities;
8 x1 v2 r; k6 k# b5 o• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 7 C, P* F! H% P" n
Networking and Fundraising;
) D7 e; _! I9 i1 M7 _$ W' h6 T• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
