Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% e: ?$ A0 [4 U2 V& \execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

& O/ Q" X% ]3 W& h! k! R. B• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
( ?- s; A$ T* ?: V. q' dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( w4 o2 _/ `5 H( _% s
the Board of Directors;
. t' K) Z' P- x* K; A* [4 g• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
0 |' k1 e3 y* F. jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
! _' E% U; ~4 G% B6 aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 t$ }# u. e" Z8 T& c; L6 G• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ' ]( B+ l. @# Q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; , g% K' i' k& w6 `: F2 k
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 o) v2 ^, b2 v8 a- gthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 x1 ]+ p* d ]) _* [& ?• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
: V' R( C- R& U1 a8 l4 T' gchanging needs of the organization and community; 7 t9 x9 M9 S) c$ ]* Y: v0 r
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue n3 J+ |& V( Y' q2 j$ a4 ^
commitments;
) f1 w& {& s: b0 c/ d• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 3 {$ o/ I0 p" P
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 p7 E7 {7 ~2 }2 {4 m b0 p
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 6 H# j% i1 O: u0 V5 D
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
/ y6 P) e7 ?- T; A# U1 O3 @• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ' |' E1 O u8 ^, a' ~4 u; w9 V
effectively and positively represent the association; ) i, U& x8 @7 t

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 p& ?% K; n$ ]9 Y6 C
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
- h3 Z1 n- J7 l" R- ^7 A• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
2 B6 Q' V, J; H9 R! S( aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( G2 C1 ^3 @) A7 b& z( G/ S) b
the forthcoming year;
' T3 D" x5 Z) `- z, C• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical : ]8 A! a: u$ {6 e: t
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

+ C- c' [' Z* ~0 |( i( W• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. , o3 p2 |. k' ?4 }) S8 s9 T
2 k* H0 h8 A3 P- H+ rRequired Experience
2 H, [3 @9 E4 \$ j• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 1 v( {- Y9 g8 A1 a. e G0 \- `
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 7 ~6 I5 u+ g, _7 w9 W" ~
abilities;
& @1 T6 P: q5 l( z• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, " S4 C l5 ^ g7 `( j1 b
Networking and Fundraising;
