The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
# {+ _; P4 i9 i" F6 b3 xexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 8 k, U2 Y$ M: {4 Y6 c

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of : N2 z8 P& y) |0 x4 O
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by v0 r+ v, \$ I) h
the Board of Directors;
2 ]- K! K: q( }% }• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations : Q' ~) d+ J; ]
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ' f8 D+ x" t: h; F' g, y' J6 Y4 u
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' P# r- g3 E b L4 }" m# U
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 z. `0 U2 E! T: q& s; L5 v1 {
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 3 {3 U2 N2 a J: T( G& M! R8 `, `
the board; % a" }% t( g6 h+ j
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 7 a- @. e$ {. W- h% F) h6 U/ E
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 c3 C* h, U' ?) [
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: A! J( o7 ] [" w• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
7 d) A g0 b. ~5 K( u. L! wchanging needs of the organization and community;
3 v h+ X0 u& ^• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ; p* |+ s& ~% {* F( k1 q# V

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 4 w: B5 A2 V6 O5 ^2 A
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" u( @, W- [5 n& k/ H. U& Dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; & F& a" `0 t9 a" l6 E& I
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ; O+ M4 ?( z5 C7 n5 i
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
4 P7 o% r1 R6 H& p8 ?effectively and positively represent the association; 0 T- ]4 R7 O) Q/ Q; Z

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 l6 D- b, j2 ]the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 8 ^' Y% Y, d/ R
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % [* S! O ]: I! m' g3 H
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
' G+ J+ O- h; ythe forthcoming year; 7 ^0 O& {* c) O7 q! w. e' c& L
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical , ~3 Y0 m9 A* b, S, t: A9 W0 J
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 0 m- |* {3 S" ^! `. U

* L. W6 U- q1 n3 ?* I# y& P) }• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience 1 [) [& i$ r+ ?- L: S! i0 q) r
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% E. Q' D( D1 y+ ~8 F/ H- W0 X• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
" ]/ H9 S( x Q# Rabilities;
) x3 |, f; Z2 l2 H• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ! `/ W( |7 q8 S
Networking and Fundraising;

centered perspective.
