Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: & j( S8 H* N! X5 @
8 D( o6 n1 J! Y" h• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of # [+ ~& C6 w. U# y4 T
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 ]3 O" k# P$ L7 A4 C
the Board of Directors; 0 {9 a- `$ ~5 e0 c& l; s
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations " h R8 D0 B' }+ w( W5 x
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
" N0 X4 B+ w, S: x: Benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
& K" S9 n# L1 n6 Z% ~: G• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
0 L3 O# H$ G2 S9 |4 N3 h/ _6 Bobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

4 |" ?+ Y2 M- L8 b- v) ?- E' C4 m• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
9 f9 X/ e8 z1 I) X• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 z c+ A* T* \5 W u: W. r4 I
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
+ R$ R7 Q" v( Q; Y. i• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the % q' g& `* r5 @$ M" a. S
changing needs of the organization and community; ; ]+ U' @3 S8 E+ U
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : S) E3 n" u1 B3 Y! M
commitments; 7 g5 O* P* h* B* d$ @3 Q5 O; w, E
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
5 j" W) T; w) I- h; W. ?• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
- {/ o8 X: Z2 hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; - V6 D" w. e$ t" P. M
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
( g! I9 _* U; V6 d• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to - l) M$ I: a9 F2 r5 b
effectively and positively represent the association; 3 {4 N9 O% v) u& ]
% ]( L; D0 f( k: A" I• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ! ]% r' Q1 p( b5 Q
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 9 a; h& V* [ O# ]8 C0 f
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
/ i" J6 {. k4 Q0 P( {1 ]performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
4 m9 l; f) A6 C, t- Dthe forthcoming year; ) y& Z0 u: j6 |3 G0 ~4 u
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
+ K+ z; @. {. q6 W% [" V$ bpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
+ N! P; r% }; x6 x$ R$ CYWCA Canada; and 6 v7 { L3 z" I; j4 D
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
' t0 C M0 |# ^8 d$ F& g• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 4 \3 o2 W$ `: X0 V* b0 d3 x E
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation & ]+ K% C; _9 F' x( v$ y+ Y3 ?# [
abilities; " v/ W* o: J6 h4 i9 |
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" c8 `/ k% p+ Y; w( F3 ~Networking and Fundraising;
4 L% H+ t, q X d, _' ^( |+ s• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
/ L, q* `9 H! o; f8 ~& X$ Sand financial statements; and 1 Q1 W# `$ T# U% w- d! b
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 0 ^- G" o" C) R$ ]4 a& t& M
centered perspective.
