The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

' a! B/ \% k! HReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

! d, J" M0 p9 ~, x5 s+ S• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 7 x) r7 O8 d! c$ `. K( K
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# p4 u% F9 p' L7 b4 e2 D K* U& qthe Board of Directors; ' t4 p/ n ~8 F: ^3 Z0 P9 J% X/ q
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
% t: z( e' f* [5 @, ~( Tincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to " Z E) ~3 B: ~2 L
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' i' M$ J: \7 w o: }
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, |/ t9 k* ~0 s* [# s1 E& C; i' sobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 8 L! z2 A! N0 ^; C, A5 S+ P
the board; * q* ^8 [7 H9 V9 j. s1 q; O/ r9 i2 B2 ~
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 6 L! M" C7 K0 X7 W# F+ ^" Z
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + v5 g- @8 _$ k- X
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: w1 p0 L, a, E6 f• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
3 {* c3 r/ D% F, x& x1 H8 Pchanging needs of the organization and community;
6 D- s0 ]+ ~. z% x! R• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue . `6 {. l3 L" T- o7 Z& @* f
commitments;
6 x# W7 l. J. k$ `0 A: t• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 6 \# _ \/ ^. U1 H$ m3 r$ G
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
& C. O: A6 l% X1 c/ n# Q# Zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; + \* r4 u2 l1 Y1 d
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 U1 E) D' y# e: Q6 u6 z
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) ^% `$ m, E; {) V+ h. u
effectively and positively represent the association;

; W8 R# M' n, E x$ Y& }• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , `3 ]9 A1 ], @0 Q5 i4 r7 E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
- U! v+ _# O9 s5 {" H" J• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
2 H0 N- U- y9 Y9 v3 [" `1 ]8 \performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED . j5 b* ^- t/ }8 D
the forthcoming year;
m- D; a5 s# i" Y, x- _! ?2 o! E• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ( `0 s- n2 p1 n
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 [3 f( J; z+ t% t- `. p" Y: ^. U# \
YWCA Canada; and $ L/ j( k2 A, c0 L3 Q/ A4 A
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
( `0 v0 S- X, e. x3 O8 H4 WForces.

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 7 |# S- v {1 i1 L# Y4 r" x7 i

Required Experience
9 u/ G" ?; F% g, Z• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; w8 y. _6 P; D L! e4 E
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ; M3 F5 F" P' L0 l
abilities; |" Z7 ^+ |2 |0 m. g, z, y
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
E7 \% B! `& Y! u% |2 XNetworking and Fundraising; - P% u! P; n5 K/ p: j3 U; X
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting , o+ V' l; Z) X
and financial statements; and ! W! a9 P, I( n* f9 }
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
