this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

' D' I" r! Y( y+ YReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
  h* r2 `+ h1 |' sexecution of the YWCA Strategy 4 w) K+ @' f' F$ [: T8 ~# B, d
7 n/ J8 k& e) }* e, [' Y
Specific responsibilities include:  9 X3 s- J! y- l) E$ y

) |! _0 k+ W  {5 }7 _•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
+ g$ K' P- C; n* K, ithe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 7 U2 P- @! b: b5 _: q5 w
the Board of Directors;  1 ]/ ]- [$ W( k  k
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 0 w2 h! s/ Z9 d: f
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
( O! S: Z8 d: henable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
: i0 E; a+ r8 S5 w•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and . ]  r3 \2 z) D
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 5 M7 M/ ]& S9 r6 _! x( |0 ?
the board;  9 l/ c0 H) E3 K9 m& ~
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  : x$ L, G7 V# T: W/ a4 P+ M( I
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; ?  r5 n* Z1 ]: A5 jthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;   n9 p& ?2 P5 C; ?
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 9 u0 k/ \) b7 ]1 Y/ b1 h6 J5 _
changing needs of the organization and community;
3 k0 l& g* B' j7 T9 T7 S& f+ p•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
6 u+ |2 m7 M. J) vcommitments; $ {+ X7 }- f; D4 \6 s
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
6 k* `' R: E1 C9 K•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
$ @4 ]. W1 r" @) o" J; f3 S3 E( rselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  6 e( j) m! {6 B( `$ p9 B' H$ m
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
% k/ Z. J3 e/ _- l•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to   u8 w8 {" v- B, d; u
effectively and positively represent the association;
5 \5 V6 b7 c5 W" `' e7 h2 w# E+ S$ s8 Z( _1 k: @+ l) \8 b) _
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 1 A  Z4 z/ c) I6 l* [( Z4 `
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
. P& z( k2 g7 k0 G/ l•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ! A( H( b: b5 E7 c; q
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
' b3 F" c9 c# `% Kthe forthcoming year;  2 W: k* t- p& p, c- G: x9 `
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
) c: `* O1 @/ F) g- Dpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
$ k" P" j# M6 uYWCA Canada; and 6 ?" c% [- T( q3 \# I# y, ~6 e
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
: U  n% N3 I! V1 VForces.

Required Skills & Abilities
9 x6 \2 O. d0 \& M•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; ' f0 h9 x! K: Q, v" }$ u+ g; w
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus / c% y- o( p3 j, I0 P  j
around decisions, plans and actions; 7 {; B; _1 E; Y# z# N( p
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; , y* N5 |6 x4 J! i7 T5 m
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
  i. G* C# k. O) I; _) gand achievable with realistic timeframes;   f* l  g" I- j$ U4 R8 S
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks . l1 B0 I% `! P% ]- Z
simultaneously;
3 s. k! a) v* a! ?•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ' i, j1 F1 E+ W
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 9 ]5 [' p6 j; q+ e
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ' k( E2 i& h& }6 u0 i( |  p' Y
•  Superior negotiation skills. . g6 m9 e$ g3 a6 L

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. & \5 Q4 J1 l# h! p; ]: |) j

Required Experience
) e7 W( ~) D' D3 \6 A0 f7 u0 e•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ F- S' Q+ ~0 l
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation # D; ^6 K8 g3 \* C% Z
abilities; 4 E0 p3 @* [& ]: M+ ^
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
6 U. o! m% o: a, Y( k% _/ D; WNetworking and Fundraising; 9 Y  N, ?; L, \, T
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
/ X( F5 v6 e3 P- Cand financial statements; and
9 l5 s  H- `; G# F- d•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 9 b, ~( C+ E: Q# l' e
centered perspective. 8 `! j3 U1 f1 E7 z, `/ ?
