execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ( A/ F! v, o) n o( g
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 v8 f* b: l9 U7 W/ {" \
the Board of Directors;
9 @. b! i7 R& K0 K" V5 ~1 R1 m7 Y5 U• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 k1 R' M7 {0 b _1 d
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to & _: Z, Y/ e4 G4 I
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! N: `* `7 T5 K& y: L( F
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
6 v' _8 B9 H, o' Tobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: b+ C- K- W e: t9 q7 n7 v+ C+ `1 `the board;
# T- I3 _6 M/ m g3 \" q• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 4 r* J% g/ v, a% o8 B- n
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * |* e0 f" \9 i2 K: w6 p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 1 a; Z# w& b! J+ \8 x7 @
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; M+ G% H1 V* a1 v* {
changing needs of the organization and community; ) z! `; j( @) v# ?; H
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 3 M6 h, B s( v' [1 J$ ~
commitments; 0 Y" z& s) a' r
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; $ g8 U/ o/ H) |2 i! ~/ H8 d9 F
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 Z, \/ N- Q8 v/ k" S& J, ~' D
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
3 f* o& g2 ], h C9 j w& A& }• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; # }( ~; z6 k3 v# E# }
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
. m% V4 {2 H3 A8 ^- _' g/ aeffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
@ X" f8 i/ X+ }; g* ]% othe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
+ r0 V9 J. u. w• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal $ a- d; I' f" I1 F2 M
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED % d d" P, l: V; B
the forthcoming year; / L+ m4 n; t* t" `( n
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
6 L1 ^& i$ b+ Z1 ~9 n( g! g# z# wpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
. O4 F5 J8 `9 Z. QYWCA Canada; and
$ e; i& ?& w$ ^5 o• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

Required Professional Designation / Certification
' A% { a2 i! d$ L• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
. s9 O$ n) g$ s l- e9 _- @+ n " w, K& P: }& t P5 B3 \' {# u
Required Experience 7 t6 }3 k1 a# F! F1 ?$ [! W: n
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 N# Z4 t7 V6 ~
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! [6 A* N) {; J# x- {
abilities; 2 a0 m8 b7 T' p! c9 }. q6 }& B
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 k6 W6 ^ m' |& v0 M" _Networking and Fundraising; * F. |+ a9 M" q7 G- Q* K: c1 W
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ' x7 z' L1 L& I/ h" n( C) B7 P h% l, e/ b
and financial statements; and
