The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 2 b; n! s% W7 Y( `9 q, B4 `8 y
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 3 o" X& }6 F8 H- _, t5 _5 \( N
f2 ^5 @( o' z% F/ c• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of & U2 m; b. x A9 m
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 m' k7 \& a1 A8 n9 h5 x8 Sthe Board of Directors;
* o; H7 G* B0 t1 a• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
0 ^/ n! c8 `% q: X3 vincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
6 n( S$ p: f9 W* \2 h Qenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
; P7 |! M9 h5 ]$ d5 V( n/ d• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and & O* X1 [( R; D1 I2 \
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by % k6 c$ L. r: b8 I9 g
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 t5 M* D. {" `8 @% G5 r# Ythe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 1 {: p# M6 ~9 d
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
! e, h/ P* }7 S* i+ w/ w' e4 \9 Zchanging needs of the organization and community;
8 u7 o9 \: b! Y' e+ F; ?• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
1 l' o9 \, V; v9 m! a/ k• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' l/ O. Q2 Y3 p9 J8 b
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
. ^ |" Y* o" \• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; . |0 X) a& m. t3 S* u+ z, {+ K
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

! s: e, u. E$ t7 b6 j0 U# @• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , k. m, r0 k$ ?% R/ {% Q' Q& O1 \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 0 U) |' t/ y5 K a. U) Z
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal Z. y. Z& \: i/ n( i4 Z, ^% \2 ~
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED " z2 h. S, D9 T k! {
the forthcoming year;
; N2 O; X& i- k• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 7 n1 N, n2 e" O! X7 a( Z
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / @& x* a8 j3 I7 m+ n% S
YWCA Canada; and o5 F+ p# ~; W3 b) l; X2 z7 q
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
4 ]# ~ f$ U9 o• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; * t. L/ U; O: H
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
7 l; N }1 T! c& Z* m$ h, Sabilities; " h7 h- I* C$ ]* I
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
8 n; {" \, ^: i9 PNetworking and Fundraising;
/ e X, q7 j1 X. C* b• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting - Z2 n+ t8 ?2 n1 `! M/ y

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
