Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and : ?+ J( h8 [* f* z4 q
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

9 ]; w: [( |3 t2 b8 g; \: ]% \• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " p+ g6 ? F3 `9 R* J: R* g
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by : A9 F+ U8 f8 R
the Board of Directors; 8 f, M4 M$ ]( n& ~/ v5 R7 ]
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % e5 j1 }6 f, w4 f# j1 _
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
' ]9 f. b/ q! v+ A8 T) senable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
" l+ c5 Z: u( x) T9 o( c9 K2 `/ u• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 O9 R+ U" r. p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

4 K' {! |9 t# ^- T+ A$ ^& y• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ; V7 Z3 z3 d* B, P5 j+ h$ k
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
7 [2 a. A) L1 B6 @: `the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 8 j6 D6 ^" v1 V& `5 @( X( Z
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ! S- i! J; {% k; Y: R- g* r+ r6 L
changing needs of the organization and community;
( F3 F1 \6 C0 t9 J• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 0 w. w2 P: [3 e+ l) i
commitments; 1 O3 }( V+ o/ ]' B
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
! Z# W3 d3 t6 Q5 o% \• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" ~" q" j3 A; F( fselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
! w! p: b# o) u, a; J% L7 M• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
; Y1 o' a3 ^3 L# e3 W c5 O4 J• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
" f* O2 d9 p5 ]$ w+ Leffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( I4 ^$ Z7 `) V& Wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
1 }7 [$ ?, t1 K8 h! L$ v7 P$ [' c" j• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' w' B* a7 o" g1 _3 f' U5 Q% Hperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED : G: Z1 L, r% P2 D' x. P+ ^2 X
the forthcoming year; n( }, K2 ?0 b# b6 Y- F6 |1 T
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
" Y4 G. ]$ {7 C \6 a5 e$ epractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. . J2 ?/ s# j' X2 o4 l* Z" y

Required Experience ' g8 b0 c; [4 z
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' k: q9 b' G5 @/ t4 X• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ; B8 n! ~( L% r) ~2 j
abilities; ! b; m2 a3 @) P ?$ i% y/ i. p
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, / D9 s2 ~0 \! o1 j7 J
Networking and Fundraising;
