Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and - P- r% y( U; N
execution of the YWCA Strategy 9 K2 p$ U8 @5 p9 L- |8 x
2 E0 L6 t i% H' CSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of * H- Q6 B# } ~& ?. L ~& U( t: `# G6 Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ]' E: j6 U" L
the Board of Directors;
! p3 j$ V: y: e• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 1 I3 l& m9 q+ R7 x3 [# p
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
a) V2 V, u0 D) N0 s. P5 h4 J5 ^enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; % J% {, E, P' x) i
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
# z- N u- J8 d& b& _) [# p" ^objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ' r+ a# C; `5 Y4 ~
the board;
8 M1 e8 T6 F7 ^2 b3 O• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
B% J. Y' t! E& \8 y• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 A$ g/ A1 G: {, a# _
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ' ~7 R7 d# W U; {9 q2 I' c# i+ c
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 4 L& k6 R7 I) L$ \
changing needs of the organization and community;
! g. B+ E- U) |% n" v" c g• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 n) W- D' M: S
commitments; ( ~' k, n3 H6 Y1 t6 u' }
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
$ H% o b: q- K; _$ r• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
5 P5 S- @4 f4 F$ }- wselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
, R9 a6 h/ Q$ l% \: P9 i• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; : ~+ r) {0 w& ^: O+ ]6 n) }
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' h: W, u% W3 V: j/ v9 E0 pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 |: u7 i+ _- J8 G: b• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
; U- U o1 z% W# Y& @performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 H4 C- Z% \% c. L& c
the forthcoming year;
- \$ h) ?, P$ ]• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
# @$ v) k( s( Ipractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of $ e6 u% i# C3 v
YWCA Canada; and

8 Q. P6 d0 n( i; t' j$ u t• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ( ~& j& q* m& n" V/ l( N* p9 {
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation / l0 N2 K# U* @4 n
abilities; # L& J: P; m+ U6 e# T" H8 ], u# q
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
5 q+ N- L y6 U+ WNetworking and Fundraising;
0 L" |* ^, U3 i% o• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
& W5 T) Q! ~" ^% ~* pand financial statements; and
% j0 I; g, h1 v. s0 Q• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 9 v" S* D' {. H% R+ x& e
centered perspective.
