this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

) b0 h3 @/ ~8 L' \% v. L( P" qReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and * Q' z* Y4 T& y0 M  c" W  A
execution of the YWCA Strategy 6 R! @$ K% |3 ?- u5 K5 i

! d) f' V/ t8 F" B7 LSpecific responsibilities include:  * g" X% b4 l; Z1 }# L7 V6 m' q" k: F
/ W# @. d' X* z) \  o' r" ^
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
) S6 R. P! j8 m- G+ m2 kthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ' ^! R+ S. d- Y! `( k1 @
the Board of Directors;  : K5 q: @% G' B& z; i
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 B& I8 u# d* ]/ V+ d
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& i+ i; Z' l& F3 s$ |( z. `enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
. h& c) g$ f2 S6 x( s0 @•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
+ l9 `8 m2 d! |3 {5 X' Wobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " ^8 d. w! [% ~/ Y
the board;  1 f; p: P; y7 a0 m% ?2 d8 L. `
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  8 h- r) I/ e) w+ K9 N5 r  Z# a) c
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
1 h: s0 p  I" C' T1 {the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 0 ~4 m. _! S1 g
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 n5 Z+ z& d7 F6 `changing needs of the organization and community; 0 U0 p. u" q2 @3 Q, J1 d
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
) |2 F: F; u- T) @% }, X0 ?commitments;
! J# Z. q# r: J•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  : [4 z7 F9 y3 I' G
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
! j& j6 a! Y: S9 o; Eselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
, e! Q1 A* l0 z  w; R- [, I•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
# H8 b  Q" l3 q- {•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 1 Q% \7 ^- D( l5 T
effectively and positively represent the association; ! B. N5 s$ y2 D) t' W; c: J1 c$ ^' K
# y1 W7 d. D$ `
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' ?: `8 X4 `$ }8 Lthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
9 Y& B. r% U  `$ p! ~3 g( j•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 7 d, |$ y8 n- Y
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED # p) Z9 U8 _+ z* k
the forthcoming year;  
( D: {' P: j0 v8 m+ e, l5 g4 {•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! A! d6 w3 j) Y2 ^* W5 w2 c# p3 ~practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
! }1 S2 H; u' V" c5 J: Y7 v4 @$ D/ ?YWCA Canada; and ' g3 V% n0 ~: J/ i& ]7 X) v
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task + W+ J6 V9 B- v9 m; z4 O8 _

Required Skills & Abilities

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 1 V- T: T& P( N9 _- u, X2 H
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable , ~; p! z  z. v1 s6 I0 X) h
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
9 W  `. ]2 s2 I# p# E1 Y0 W•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
2 y2 ?8 y7 h' L* Isimultaneously; 9 V2 [' j" i4 }! c. y2 W
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
) |7 U* H% a0 w% M7 K! `/ v' ~rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 3 w/ g( l$ v0 M  n" M
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
' U4 |& c+ J4 ^5 K) O$ V8 z) a•  Superior negotiation skills.

) }7 u3 z( }! I8 W Required Professional Designation / Certification
. s" k4 g, k! n9 G•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 9 z# U, J1 g) \5 L( L

% F6 }" p' c* |4 s9 HRequired Experience ) d, ]  f9 u7 ^- s+ V2 x9 a
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, E) O: ]$ _% D8 T% \" e•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
+ ^6 @, V( M5 w. `3 ?& u( {$ habilities;   o8 g; Q/ ^3 }/ E4 F% T- k% X
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
, v: X8 G0 R5 e( n% u: }0 ANetworking and Fundraising;
, e" d2 z9 G- P0 l) B•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting % V1 v5 Z" o( m( o& O( R
and financial statements; and
) Y3 F1 B$ t0 B! W•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
' q6 w; A! N; G' w1 ccentered perspective. ! o# c2 P# ?9 Y/ b6 b0 k0 f
