The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic 8 b2 g! E- P6 I) G, o

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA ; e4 n' i7 e! y, c
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & b. y( i. ?7 ]: N
execution of the YWCA Strategy " m% d$ v0 @" c0 w3 k. M+ P

Specific responsibilities include: 4 ]4 W5 m+ O5 ?. @) q) H
3 n3 h& d9 f1 Z6 h3 C0 K# _4 c! ?• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
8 \( G9 {3 [2 @ g% ]the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 8 X& H: z5 i6 V, Z9 {5 |! l# m
the Board of Directors;
0 i! H3 d, ~/ D) T, g• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % M j Z; p% n1 i
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
R7 I- }/ M! d, L! B3 O$ Eenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; % ]: o+ k z( d
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : Q5 D5 ]6 `" U( I9 X( v5 a, S! H) @
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 L9 T, Z6 Z" h. ^& i
the board;
8 G0 L' I+ A% [8 {, w• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
/ s5 E( F: J1 Q/ n" J5 `/ W* K7 N! F# r• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ G0 h" H0 b+ Y. C7 d* ythe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; * L/ I: o& p' N2 x; j0 D: r% v
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the + {0 r$ `, I, B4 t
changing needs of the organization and community; 1 i, x. \) ?8 j4 W" S+ D3 `: r( h' W
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
; c! {% a2 f4 }) j( X4 w' |commitments;
6 U# M/ N8 U$ {3 Z" k• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; & U. L2 i4 v5 J; P6 ? N: I, K% l
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
& e6 b0 |7 w+ {, n+ g* g2 S Wselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ! k' `4 D% U7 Q8 b+ u
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ; C! ?7 j n9 l& c
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
% T: R4 ?8 n$ i% meffectively and positively represent the association; - K, M! q% {/ P
+ j2 \4 s/ N' F( t• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring $ j$ K6 b3 B+ I$ X0 x# _
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ( Y* n3 P/ a- T2 n; U# b! z3 q& X
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 y J5 t4 L h7 nperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 P. _4 G& \, N3 B- u! p
the forthcoming year; 3 K# [& I/ v; _/ a( W
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # ?, q. g+ z& a+ \- g8 r( T5 Z$ q
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Experience
) u5 W. C8 Y- e' x• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; & v B& K0 x- j1 _1 \) E" ?1 O- y+ \
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 4 N# A/ O2 U* Z
abilities;
4 M$ i2 c) P" V1 ~% F1 o6 x; o• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 4 e, |8 b. a, C' Y! F9 {! ]# @: [
Networking and Fundraising; . }2 J3 Y- P- J% G
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ! j: n( D/ Z( N3 c6 D; ]
and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
