The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

+ S& H1 y- h+ d( w3 [, D2 u8 GSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of + }8 H: m( J9 K& @5 h
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & P1 d% o- S" a+ d: e
the Board of Directors; ! P; ^$ W, v4 V5 Q- c% Z
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* D# ~; y( \' l$ c: K2 a! jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
9 H4 e* b; w3 B/ B2 _enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
% X# y# C# R+ [& Y• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 x2 ]/ h# Y# n& t4 e- u* n3 E1 p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

$ _9 c0 C" |5 ?, f9 Z• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 7 s, a- P+ c4 |; _
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion , |6 k h* U6 v* [% B: G& ~
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
0 {& n( u! _3 K* Q) e1 j$ F• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
' b) W. {! i) L# K5 ?: Gchanging needs of the organization and community; + |! p9 [! l3 _- C" |
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
' h4 n C1 [3 o1 x) S. Kcommitments; 1 p! b7 X2 h5 X6 r# X' c; ]4 d
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
# \9 @" g8 Q3 |- v( B• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + `" |! {) S5 O- p2 C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
3 w& V8 b' U4 h: |2 I• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
' G# p! K: P( I) k5 v- {• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
- e. C6 u: _& b" `effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 2 C( q6 I* W- q6 c8 G0 d# l
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; % G( ?# O8 R/ @. ~" \8 F* L' H
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal . K/ r! M; p9 Q! Q4 b
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

. U. c% ~& A0 g# {; E I' H g) g7 ]• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 M: P& d, m& g X/ Qpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 9 m0 V! W" w& K* T: y
YWCA Canada; and
! I) p/ V( P1 J* N- A• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 4 t( P0 E3 l& y
Forces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
$ M! @9 a7 x$ E• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 2 B9 C! z6 ` D1 e9 U! I; v
( q5 M0 Y# |3 CRequired Experience
( Q* E0 ~! G; M• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
) i `1 l- W* n5 }* ?% J• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation " B% Y* O8 s4 i% [ U. d2 p6 M
abilities; 2 R; V2 ^9 p& V6 @2 z
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
9 f7 \& p) V2 V' k% u1 mNetworking and Fundraising;
9 Z/ G& `: [9 ^& \) \• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . c# ^8 c5 C8 {& l' r; }' k2 j
and financial statements; and ( n1 I4 H/ g9 G& s$ ?
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
% n0 I8 G8 e* z. G& fcentered perspective.
