The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

5 @( i; f# B' u" C! }Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: E' g6 J; i& t" m3 D
l/ Z x2 }6 g, T4 Q& e# O• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 5 K3 c. x) y2 y; @6 w) Q, u' a
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 `' }% I' N/ T
the Board of Directors;
: U- I) H/ G p8 @+ w7 g, A; ?• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations " T* r) j9 p: n7 [% ^1 z2 D
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
9 [) d- K, @+ E. D2 o, c! O8 Senable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( C$ d0 i$ v6 ~+ D {7 c& W• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
- a# s* I- X: hobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 C# l- N4 r$ p- `6 o0 o5 J

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ! c" v/ e2 p( Z& p* a
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 x3 S1 v- }; P5 G/ ~# Y! S Z5 sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; $ p5 i& x" g4 P1 l. \" h- n' C! I
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
1 x( m0 L7 o( r* A5 V. ~0 A( echanging needs of the organization and community; % a) `5 L! H& j9 a" `$ A' b7 R
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
! N! ~- q+ v/ |9 g1 d5 C hcommitments; . M* {- c: j- X' i7 B- i2 S
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * k! k! }3 Q5 @: j
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* B" o3 m$ q1 c+ {$ J+ D! w& o; Eselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
! t7 P. T* B% B# Y( U+ f• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
% v7 Q7 r" R: [ {/ F2 \/ p4 g• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
0 c- N0 Q, ^+ W( `, A7 jeffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 5 w8 v7 @1 W2 ^& `4 C+ M8 n
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
: }( k! u/ \! x! U• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
0 Z4 u3 o( |! S, F" u# q8 sperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED " t; ^; Z$ t- }: g! g6 x7 E
the forthcoming year; + T8 M* j% q% j
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 3 o5 W( Q! J$ d8 \/ i& ?
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
4 B) R9 T' N4 W, J$ `) [- r$ VYWCA Canada; and
) D- \& A Y6 ]& @• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
- D1 }# K- ]# O! W- S2 n/ MForces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
2 k' h. ^- B1 W9 M& @! n" L( x" ?2 _• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
, P* Q& W$ c* j# D+ O• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ( m9 Q$ F% q2 a* @/ Z
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
+ {* i# }. D; l/ e1 Yabilities; 5 U4 R c: S K6 r
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" F. ~5 Q5 N6 p% A" h, ^5 n uNetworking and Fundraising;
; u* s$ O/ u9 z/ k) E• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ' K6 g: p m; i: V [
and financial statements; and
+ y* U1 Z% {4 ]+ p• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women W, F: r4 W; p9 t# p( l, d9 |% N
