The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 4 Q- t0 b! W5 U- ?/ U
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
8 T: r( J; G N9 wthe Board of Directors;
/ Z4 ]! X6 G+ K• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ \+ f. B! r5 ]/ s- nincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# t/ V5 @" X4 J1 W7 h9 c) `- Wenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
4 X# Q, w! I: S4 q8 l0 L• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 9 c" ~& D- [* }
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " ^8 w; j6 i1 b8 ~8 J$ Q; v- d

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion

3 n/ O$ `2 }$ `• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / b2 Z+ Z; e6 h, l {! w) N u. B
changing needs of the organization and community;
0 ~$ b; G/ f A' ^; t) V4 [+ k: G& ?• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 K, O I/ v3 Q/ K/ {3 E
commitments;
* N9 v+ M0 v. c9 p: G( _% i/ i• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 o' S F3 D @7 B3 ?: m# R I
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective $ _* T! n% K5 l+ h$ @7 o
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; : z& [, z( \( ]4 k$ N# }1 y; u
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
5 A8 C8 m% g6 n" m& L. c; y) D• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
; M0 z- h: A, `' q; G/ \effectively and positively represent the association; 6 d* Y- V+ Q$ L
6 h6 K) v2 F9 V: R• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% r; u8 w. e7 f; y) ~8 K- q2 G- i0 xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 P/ m& F: U" P: V• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
5 x; B6 Z6 s A! mperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
5 w" t! W0 d |0 |% ]practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ( g% F3 _# V) F) A
YWCA Canada; and
7 F; A* Q1 J1 `- _• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
- z- L/ K4 T% A( Q0 R• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ r+ D1 e0 J! f- J
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

& `$ U9 D2 U6 H* L• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 8 ], ^9 Q5 Z! D) X4 }
Networking and Fundraising;
