The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 8 h# O# o4 p/ r- o' S$ N
execution of the YWCA Strategy 4 ~. Z( s$ s' [( E

Specific responsibilities include: ' R2 }4 R+ O7 |4 Q4 Y
C+ J* X4 d U1 i• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 1 ~4 M) r) N; E* I
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
8 N6 a+ S- X; p5 ]& h" \the Board of Directors;
# c2 l* }, Z, k! m• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 O9 o4 m8 q) i* bincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
L0 W$ m0 L+ R# C$ lenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
' f$ u' X5 w2 d& E$ X2 R3 J• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
; N7 Y. ]. {3 {0 |objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 0 F* f/ B O0 S- g
the board;
+ S/ @! I6 x9 h# S# F# l0 W% h" \• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
1 b j0 P) G! N7 \) P, B1 b: [2 x- o+ a• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
# [# b' `' f1 H d4 {the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; - y1 T: m$ \% H
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
H0 M8 }9 u; P4 p1 |/ Dchanging needs of the organization and community;
8 P7 r# ^, \: u( [: J+ m, ~• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : R5 o6 L9 z( r+ i' ?$ d
commitments;
: Z9 }7 e0 p2 q( L# x0 M, P• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
2 U3 s+ y+ n# q# q3 H• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective . V: i- \) b& `6 m, @
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
3 E4 V, b6 @7 d4 W/ y• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 n: y4 j# r% e9 h; p/ l• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to / z! a I: c2 L5 M
effectively and positively represent the association; ( e& [3 i2 z/ s

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
; Z, k6 s% z6 }2 r5 Rthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
9 j9 R& J" F$ ~* C• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 4 i% w1 S2 j5 _0 u
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! L4 e, Y3 Z5 _) Ithe forthcoming year; 5 H4 ?( r0 J( M3 Q, E4 }; m ?
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
" S' m9 H0 ?1 d! ~7 F8 q& dpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of * y4 K5 x0 Y% i6 ]( F
YWCA Canada; and ! E# }, {0 f8 T: a Z
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
& x; ~6 y2 Z+ v0 Z5 JForces. 3 Z" V9 I& n( w, T

Required Experience
0 X, T5 x$ Z& ?• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; , Z: l0 B+ i8 I
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation * n7 Z$ w6 D# e( A) W1 W
abilities; % n5 f1 x U* Y5 C0 i+ K1 a
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 1 I. L/ g- u$ y, L; I
Networking and Fundraising;
5 w B) e" h2 c7 K• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 6 B) D/ K3 T& T/ r$ a2 T
and financial statements; and
