1 y8 S2 E; v9 Rthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA   M. a/ b9 ?1 Y+ s9 D  c) r9 O4 B
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
" k& T9 C4 `' ]  D5 Z/ zsurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA
& j% S% u0 z7 P3 c, FEdmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the

2 Y" E* ~7 ^" FResponsibilities

- H, Q, r3 C. i, K* ^. cReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and $ Q# H! K4 M: I1 i# L2 d
execution of the YWCA Strategy   e  _; g. l6 E
. g# s3 l6 ^: m3 g: O
Specific responsibilities include:  
& ^1 x" m6 p& b% z* q$ K9 ^ 2 A* d: Z. d0 P& Q
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
! g* _5 k- v- t* O- ^8 T* ]6 G( sthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by : X& B6 u9 O5 u3 m: {5 ]9 L8 Q
the Board of Directors;  
8 a: Q9 r$ Y: }4 s: W% {5 P+ q•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
. d5 `7 D: I6 F0 ~9 \4 \including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
$ g0 L8 X- y5 m0 Fenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
7 z% R3 o7 `1 K6 V•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( o* F8 n: {9 C; _% L' ?; V+ y+ P
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: B' l% \  t  R2 o2 ]the board;  
  B/ [$ F% b+ \. ^) E; R, E•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
9 }3 }. M4 w( }( Z1 V•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
' ]$ \" D! z; Kthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
. p, |3 Q4 o: G5 V) `; Q•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ( Q( k  z' \0 O! v% R* j
changing needs of the organization and community;
0 S+ {2 |% @& z8 h- ]! w•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
3 \5 p8 S6 x) k7 [: |+ X9 ]9 wcommitments;
: n8 c5 s6 W' g# ]. }•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ' s$ t& A- y5 S7 J
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - y! I4 C  h( y% y2 U( H5 A5 A
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
- O% {9 F- Y: b6 F! g•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
3 U' }7 X" S  b/ L: s7 o•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to $ _/ R" [2 F) Y4 D- P) |
effectively and positively represent the association;
* y4 t# K$ }$ R
. I7 y/ u; [( t6 S•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
, Y  A* p' t" J  ]+ h# e! e) othe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  2 h: N) ^% X7 m, z: `6 c: P
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
( v( V+ ~! P' V# N, ^$ D+ Uperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 9 x2 z& i1 u+ p
the forthcoming year;  
7 O/ y) |; j. X- u( ?0 y# G•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 7 J# n6 W0 q4 U3 l1 W& [4 X4 X8 p
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - A7 L( V  i/ K: ~# g) J, Q
YWCA Canada; and . z: s0 }) R' N  z  T5 |* A8 j
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
$ O) i" o5 x6 t. |" KForces.

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; " H1 q  p( W% D/ l9 Q1 ~
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 1 {: K& N6 E" z  @: b
around decisions, plans and actions; : f. ?, P3 A' c, s; k8 N# `! ^
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; $ i4 X& `) @1 A( _9 Y  E& L( w; O
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable ) O4 N  c9 U# p
and achievable with realistic timeframes; ' V" z+ H' g- j: @3 o
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
7 A; D$ B8 @3 Lsimultaneously; " O8 k; a# s  n( c  A
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
4 z& W* G) U4 K: {rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
& u9 P( s* b- n7 x" h; t- d•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and " {: v) D7 l. Z& p9 y, s2 M* V
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification 4 s" c4 r/ ^: I
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 3 |6 B& @7 F1 K' d

! h2 \! i6 U7 z( T6 x- |; sRequired Experience
- v* ~/ v3 A7 E3 r2 z•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ J' t' a1 }6 u8 ^
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
2 k$ M& K) z1 ^1 {5 Yabilities;
$ v  ?2 l! {" _  Q: b•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ! @3 e1 v1 `7 }$ B
Networking and Fundraising;
+ _+ _# p  C$ `9 o) @3 Y, A•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ! i1 `' r/ n5 @% V, _1 n5 {
and financial statements; and 2 S% q) `0 D0 z9 i6 h7 ]; s
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ! ]" J4 h0 ^4 C" B3 r- a
centered perspective.
