Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

) ~9 v7 Z" E* ?: L/ K4 |• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 E) [) T0 i6 B" R# }* O* k$ wthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( L8 }; G$ V! l' \9 {3 D- S9 U
the Board of Directors;
* a# f2 n9 e3 Z$ {. H0 Y& U• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* S+ a0 p% Y; b4 A4 rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 7 u8 `6 Y T& n7 \+ Q# }. v4 }
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
% i8 J, I) Y% F4 h" A2 h• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( b! n" M, X4 X, I& u* Q+ p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
9 F z8 I! H2 E. g# T• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; J' {# J2 O/ j) P" K* \the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
" g0 }) x0 U K% ~3 A) @& P• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the , @. D6 ^, e5 Q7 _* ~. W! ~
changing needs of the organization and community; 8 K [- U" g! k) X* [, Z1 r o( F
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- k% q' F c! y$ r5 ycommitments;
6 n2 z/ s, A) m# |1 j8 }1 M• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
- ~& v; r; ]6 J• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - M6 f2 J& l# [7 E/ W
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; / B' x+ ^0 V1 y
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
8 a/ O$ S4 p! H2 m qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
# \9 \9 A. a; b' ~! t• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , r& V& j6 W' g
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 q: S/ U; V6 t0 J6 m4 p
the forthcoming year;
7 U( w( X1 U; C" M4 ^2 N! [• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical , B- ~1 b. g! D
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 8 Y9 [$ P- N9 {9 R: G+ B7 T0 B, M w
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification

Required Experience & I; M& m# @/ u- S# Q3 R4 v9 }
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 K! d+ s2 h/ y! P• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, * G( }8 d& {6 X: k w
Networking and Fundraising;
