& m+ a6 K% }4 |% R, x' WReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
) c8 O# J- X9 d" R8 pexecution of the YWCA Strategy 5 P& y$ W" j$ U6 U
7 X# y5 y- s" ?6 k2 E! C; k
Specific responsibilities include:  # Q( M6 Y# _3 G, n9 k3 h2 Z

- G# S/ Z6 ?1 l( @+ {0 _•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of - N6 n, r# C" \9 p3 W7 Q8 E! [
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ) [* P& e2 j' L+ |2 A, ~7 n+ F
the Board of Directors;  . ]6 h: r. r; y1 [
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
- Z1 }  V8 E! Q1 t3 I7 Wincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ ^1 q' W( l" \enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
+ e& Z  Y3 ^5 ^3 w( e1 m•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and * _% Q; S4 s* J6 f& I0 X
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, T1 H. I; a, U7 T; ^the board;  
3 `) q+ ], E; m* c# \" e•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  , J% G: G' ~5 C  I0 W. `6 ~
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + e5 K0 A5 x2 O1 l9 p, T
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; - D) h5 h1 Y; J2 E7 t7 m4 k
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
0 N+ o# P$ u) T' }changing needs of the organization and community; 4 d- x  u( C1 B9 r9 a6 a3 K" p& G
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
2 m$ L7 R% U4 f- ecommitments; 0 e& M$ }3 ]6 ]
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  . ^( I% Q+ o/ n& E; n& `
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + k' i0 y2 J5 C; I! t
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  - `; k5 K; j" {2 ^
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
2 F" r) a6 Y+ H% u0 Y•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to # o/ B1 W7 ?9 h& H
effectively and positively represent the association;
! A) _% Z8 X8 {* ^0 `
" j' L, ~0 m4 O+ @8 ~" p1 d% c•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring & J+ w1 C/ y2 T& z6 R2 N: Z0 Y) `
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
6 g5 E& ~0 E6 W•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. J7 D# d' U2 G8 e" {: J. Dperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 Z2 B# r3 ]/ C+ R' Z
the forthcoming year;  
5 p" p' u0 w+ h) A•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
' Z0 {$ x1 R9 w0 o  vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 3 h; U; g; k4 L8 j
YWCA Canada; and / i" e. W, {+ j" G. W
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task $ B; }' C$ R5 W/ i: _
Forces.    E  k) H2 A3 z4 P' b- b/ r

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
8 X6 v3 t7 k  W. ]; r•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
! o, v9 o5 m) W6 z' ]around decisions, plans and actions;
! r" C4 m' d$ L, V$ T. {•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 5 ?. U' ]. t% ]
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
$ ]* u. n$ q. x  c4 gand achievable with realistic timeframes;
6 n+ Z# x$ U5 N; A: d•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks   M0 P3 m6 @8 u: |
simultaneously;
* _$ k5 x9 |' x•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build # d) }( @7 }! L& l' e% F% y
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 2 s/ j! }) ~6 r  E5 \) s
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 6 `* H8 R+ E2 }8 H7 _9 P

Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 c. h4 X# U: h; @! w•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. + z5 P7 a$ ~7 h) Q* ?6 Q9 Y

4 m* u* ^8 ^0 WRequired Experience 1 c7 x2 p5 m2 Q! H, t( F: W
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 4 v$ P! `* T/ j* j1 B+ u! f$ N
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' F* W$ Q7 }' L3 ?abilities;
; \9 B) w: O% L! F) p+ e•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
5 k) v& Q0 K; z& W2 cNetworking and Fundraising; + E/ N4 M6 P: |. X, T
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting # I. V6 I- F, e
and financial statements; and
% Y& s. p3 {/ A( _•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
2 H. ?* Z( J! l1 r) B' fcentered perspective.
