Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and / j1 k7 ]/ a8 K& @; D; M
execution of the YWCA Strategy

) s5 \$ v7 k0 M+ hSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! X4 h6 Q |& r: s
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 |# ?: O5 F- S
the Board of Directors;
9 [ t. t% [( F4 t, }3 q• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
) S0 h' ~: E2 k4 T% Rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ! l' H" H5 q' I/ M) A& j
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
; t3 U, s) T$ Q Y# t8 J0 m• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ; Z' M' J% I$ i ~6 F7 J# j
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by : n& ^2 ^% A% b8 Z- v. I: C. ?
the board;
" n$ ^) j3 |4 K• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
. b" N* e" l: z# w• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 G) V7 q0 U7 a+ X
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; & A! p5 Z! x: i% m2 B& j
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
& p0 d) @+ ] s) v, E" j0 n. |changing needs of the organization and community;
' ~( c% }2 I! z9 a* _• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! [3 |& d+ j0 l' N
commitments;
- F! M# d9 C0 Y: w• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
; }$ {. m1 B, P# }9 s$ V2 u• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 M- a+ l8 \6 ^6 q9 D
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
* U& F: L" q* ?& O) z+ n) W. W1 T• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ' _/ X! h/ G7 R
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 o- z# l/ |& o3 b
effectively and positively represent the association;

& b t- d9 l9 R' R: c• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% v% k1 y5 x9 I. y) b3 qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 7 r/ E; V' J9 M" ^
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal " j4 Y4 i" n- ]) K: h. S1 _
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
9 S2 A: H0 D9 l4 D1 g2 v# j Xthe forthcoming year; * ?! P+ G0 v0 q; ^) R. D: w
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
/ O! ?4 ]( B8 g* C( tpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
- p7 x9 [- D! }" v* d8 YYWCA Canada; and . H& Q& G: @) E: X2 U
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 0 A( U- S4 v# ~$ P- v7 { x

Required Experience
' o4 d z( A; d ?0 Z6 h• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; |! H& K" P8 o, x/ p4 i
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! S( `7 z$ D7 Y7 I7 V
abilities; $ z- d1 o2 a7 w
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, / K% `" O1 m P/ x% u$ ^ N- \, Y
Networking and Fundraising; 6 E: @7 F; U/ |( [# o
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
) _3 ^6 v( S$ u7 n+ a' F2 U& T. Dand financial statements; and
