this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
2 V7 m0 R6 o/ t+ y4 LEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and . d8 ^- y- F( x9 u: q# o
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities
' r8 v% _, ?# c6 ]  J
/ m1 H* @6 `- ^  m6 b7 s7 b6 tReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and % a4 e! b) s9 }# _( U7 P  Z
execution of the YWCA Strategy
4 B, H9 O( h, W8 ]8 H! F" S
) j% i$ h- J" L8 Z/ H6 w, oSpecific responsibilities include:  
  d; b. r- V& s; M! P0 P& | ! p9 V! Q/ Y2 Z4 j% a
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 3 a4 b2 s$ G: `9 R  C
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by . k* B0 z# A) ~. L
the Board of Directors;  
$ P% k2 P7 u7 j  \3 e6 _•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ; o! n) W4 }' X1 l0 N
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& ~# `7 g. f; q4 z2 h6 |1 Q4 Aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
3 p+ W# B, e5 I5 J% e•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 2 |4 z& X* W& ?0 ^: w
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, T  n& s. o( p! `; _5 A  u! Q* xthe board;  
/ l) a! Y: ~, I( @" b- _•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  7 F" F2 W3 v  C$ B  G
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
( m% @* i0 j, |0 ?( Nthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; % S( t2 i; q0 \
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
/ R" T' |! c$ F  o9 U+ E7 }+ Bchanging needs of the organization and community; + |. M8 T/ Y6 j, n4 U
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + }( y  m  Z0 h- |, t' F  M1 b
commitments;
5 M* O; {7 I: {8 o+ B9 u! u/ S+ }3 L•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  : y* f3 N# H! ?  Y4 Y% B
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective % x' G6 I" ?) G$ C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
0 i* H9 [, U( {$ h6 R  a( Z•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
3 n2 x  u# t4 T+ i, Y9 y* ~; j•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
% w3 I( A+ [: g" Reffectively and positively represent the association; / T8 Q: R+ s/ K$ k1 k( r, g
0 ~' I  D7 V* S
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / m( ?! ]+ x, _  z7 U. D
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
; B6 M8 B" t& T& y& U0 {•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 3 e4 Q2 k1 G# X
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED + Z7 F2 b( Y8 u4 J4 K
the forthcoming year;  0 A: ?8 W% E* _4 U0 y* A0 I% m
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
, L. g0 k" c- ?8 upractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
, h- n1 B$ o9 R+ K) [6 O, `8 VYWCA Canada; and " ?2 E9 o( _& {% s
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task & b/ _6 Y& r3 f
Forces.  & s# o& Q3 ^: c9 c/ F% E! {8 R( d
  
; U+ D) q+ c! m0 W& _9 Z4 CRequired Skills & Abilities 9 j* Y8 ]# {; k- E! S" N. @' O6 c  E
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
0 k* n0 I8 }! J1 w•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 7 {; f# K# w* ^* W# o
around decisions, plans and actions;
5 w& P3 f  J# v•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; ' k7 t$ \, U! Z
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 9 M$ C% h% T9 ?! r. j7 V
and achievable with realistic timeframes; * n3 V# ~, i! e8 f1 \0 }, j
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ! _9 h, ~+ N5 [6 Y# e
simultaneously; + {3 n3 N! Q7 n
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
  u" Y  K. B4 ?0 k. ~+ V, }0 e) e. ~rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
: E4 |" {+ w# L" h•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 1 b6 E: Z3 j. Z; T

1 N3 u7 P9 l' QRequired Experience
  Q* I# X, I: l" j0 x: s7 A•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 p; w% n8 T0 n& ^3 t, [
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
! b+ ~( a" ?. d- J8 B. L8 j) L3 zabilities; ( P8 ^3 d0 N- W7 y* `
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
! g* [4 A! r) C9 q1 b5 qNetworking and Fundraising; * p  o6 F% j; C3 a7 S1 F
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting " G3 ?  R9 A, C  a
and financial statements; and
9 ^% t4 d6 Q0 D$ z2 E•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 4 X; R) \: h& c& {7 n" e
