1 e9 R0 U( B# b' Uthis multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
4 f* y7 K- X& X. DEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 3 \# i: g# r2 Y/ C/ }6 i2 M
surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and , r; W( d/ v0 A1 L- {" t' N
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

9 q& s' T8 f; b9 v2 F8 |- k• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
- X7 V9 c$ u# n$ r( T) U1 l1 Othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by $ o, \/ w1 j8 @+ b$ a
the Board of Directors; & L, G K; S3 r9 f& d( A
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , N1 X% @! x6 s8 K) B
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and + Y) ^% l* c4 Z, G) V3 h
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

, x- q: A+ r& o" B) ^4 W4 o• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( a# }/ i( z: D+ n. ?4 Z ~
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ! m$ J6 w) l! e$ o n) v
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ! I0 o9 e. j* t5 J7 ^+ a% ?
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * ]2 |7 s# A, A& W" X
changing needs of the organization and community; 8 a, E. J0 ^% `' C, L( B$ C
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

i3 D+ w) D6 y• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; / c) ^' q1 W" B* |4 j) v4 V
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
# n" @$ m1 k2 z# z. mselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
) }+ J w% u M7 a( q3 F• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 Y- U6 u! w3 h
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % C# I8 o' j+ p% Q7 C# Y! m: v# `

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 j, e4 Q0 C' @5 |# pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; : F" q! J* C. n$ t0 z; U
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
k# z7 F" G2 k$ A& B8 }5 {performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED " X# b/ i% U z/ u+ m) x2 B, Y+ s) D% N0 i
the forthcoming year;
+ ^6 A1 y/ Q# C+ C• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
& C$ A( v2 o0 p% Ypractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Experience
" J9 j/ s( d) M% D% K• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, r s* Y0 K/ h# o4 H! Z8 G& G) L• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation $ E* b1 w! R) S7 B1 O% E
abilities; . z( g5 D0 K+ C. \
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
, d- e3 M, x4 n0 w6 V- f3 o; yNetworking and Fundraising; 3 V; g' _ w1 j6 k. E: y
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting # _; j$ O! T; G8 ]. N

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ( @# j: M3 M/ Z" a: q
centered perspective.
