thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead
# ?3 W; d# z" U1 V" a! H. L5 |this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
. j) u* i6 k  T. pEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities / Y4 x) V+ \7 G7 F  ]6 p

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
4 Z$ F2 C6 A, ]9 K8 |execution of the YWCA Strategy 1 c# B7 @4 R) s. U( l+ M

4 ]1 Q+ H1 [$ Y7 r0 t: Q: SSpecific responsibilities include:  
! P1 t" J) s& h1 Y* [   B  P! l1 U; R7 g  O$ b* C# Q
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 4 P5 l  }# E/ P! p9 ?3 f2 [
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
- f3 [, y2 g- u6 F6 Zthe Board of Directors;  
6 j' ]0 b; p7 y+ i•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 l/ Z3 x7 D* r2 e7 X- ~# x% o' e
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& J  L2 `( I* `9 G' @5 Senable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! E' ~2 c% V3 ?' b& g0 q
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
2 ?" n5 p3 \) p6 Qobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 3 Z/ d* i% g1 l% e* ^( T
the board;  
* N  @' m" [& D' O5 D1 n•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  & h* u' p- a+ r; F
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& X, m$ |7 X' l5 N& xthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; + a, r' C: A: ~1 x
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
4 F: ^$ E' I6 Y) W! ?changing needs of the organization and community;
- r# [3 W$ L% K% T1 s, i% k, s•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
6 l5 j/ ^* ?: M" ~2 {2 y2 Hcommitments; ) G4 z% n& ^! c: y
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ( v. E! z8 b: \
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
7 Y' f% ~. @/ n0 D4 F! w1 V5 Bselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ( k; D8 G0 T. z3 N- E
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
2 [/ ^6 r2 s# Q( s% g•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
; s. `4 e: K) N6 x* y5 [- Feffectively and positively represent the association; 5 D! i+ J# D; o1 _  P& {
, z3 @2 p8 i! A0 a
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
5 M7 o8 C0 ]/ q& w' Gthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
' I' [5 f- P. }" X+ A•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
% t6 A$ V  d! T  Pperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED + S' d9 u( D6 a8 h( }* `* f$ w
the forthcoming year;  ' ^1 w% T  u5 L4 ]) C. f1 }) T
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
$ b  Q- k3 I( t* Mpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
! |; `6 B+ t% O, C$ Q. XYWCA Canada; and
$ T& N; m3 ]1 t•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
8 E. P6 I" U, v6 n, t" m' g) uForces.  8 k9 H" W8 {5 Z& K

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
& b2 L4 D1 p) Raround decisions, plans and actions; 9 W  W/ K# X0 }6 v& ?% N
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 0 E/ U& K8 z8 D9 C" J6 Q
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
* H6 z* k$ r! y- d& ^, t0 Z; Sand achievable with realistic timeframes; * }- @& b' m! u1 `8 Q' l
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
9 ]5 h& ]/ y- o2 B  o' g% usimultaneously;
7 f+ W5 A$ b8 T- Z0 h•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 4 X( z3 }5 D( T: [# F: q

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and / V0 z( e8 s/ A0 b: h% N: O3 }6 X4 A
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification ) p; c" B& Z# Z3 t' Q4 i' \
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
  l) M: o. P5 p$ Q4 g1 |# J
. E2 ?+ _1 P$ C" `$ SRequired Experience
) |1 Z- T& O9 R; S) D5 L. b- U$ a) X•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
+ v" p% [/ V( t) z5 a  g# N+ I•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
/ c  B) N3 [9 E3 L. ?1 l* `6 habilities;
" P0 X6 S9 j, r; c•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 5 {, c' r4 A& |/ z7 V
Networking and Fundraising;
; C$ m: C( `. O  ~8 r•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
6 _: D" h$ }2 B: }and financial statements; and ' ?0 B' D, c& x( x( o
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
/ {- ?+ h1 D; D1 ?centered perspective.
