The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

1 {2 F5 q0 ]8 E& vReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; E- v0 t0 M6 r$ Aexecution of the YWCA Strategy # [7 V% n2 o3 P: H# _% E

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 0 O/ N# x4 R) i0 l
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by , V) y: X( Q$ t. I
the Board of Directors;
]7 x5 z" Y4 s+ W" s• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
3 ~) @2 a l" dincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ; S2 e$ [+ ?* \2 q& x
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 0 C- R1 ]' e, ? T
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
9 y6 C1 d" j+ ~( X. D8 wobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by P4 R L, ~8 l2 V- R L6 h3 c
the board;
% P6 [/ |; o O! X9 s$ e" B• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
9 [: M; z: N- M• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
9 [+ `( \- T4 P3 uthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # I- V$ f" f: `2 f. k
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the : K, a# F8 Y, _. z& m
changing needs of the organization and community; : Q5 x' T3 l6 s8 h% f. c: y0 [! W
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 6 H2 Y8 c1 y/ T8 T. w
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;

effectively and positively represent the association;

4 {( i7 U2 b: k7 T! T' Q: \• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
8 V* H+ [7 N0 l) hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 3 w) Q. |5 M* B- k, X5 Y# x1 R
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 |- ^; }( U' X. kperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: W* x/ v( q: K* P |practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; W) @. s) f& w; @( h/ U) K
YWCA Canada; and
! D; e a" ?( j+ h• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
: h) Z" h4 o3 ^7 G$ t• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. # y5 `+ p, x, ?+ Q( Z$ z. [) j

Required Experience
8 J0 O+ t6 Q4 R6 Y3 U• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
. w, x; J! K: f( b• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 H s# T: t. M
abilities; ) H# z% F1 n3 z8 F6 A
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
3 }7 l i2 L4 F% ENetworking and Fundraising; 6 r# E! S, b+ c3 d( c
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
6 ]& o7 n& A* M6 r* H* H" Gand financial statements; and 3 a7 f1 F: w! S+ t7 _" o6 s
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women " t! `5 ?+ F0 ^8 E5 y" P
centered perspective.
