Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 7 Q9 ]" [) }& l! b2 Y6 |7 [0 w, Q- N
execution of the YWCA Strategy $ S6 t) @1 V! \* r% x9 g

2 S# B3 g* W8 `# USpecific responsibilities include:  
* O" _/ C+ c8 e9 M) z; l
/ t: E+ `5 k+ Q8 H* X6 ]* q•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
0 Q4 }, t# H- X7 Wthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by + `* e; f$ [2 Y% z: P
the Board of Directors;  8 [8 O  O% r% K: A3 v; d5 T
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
# l! D+ t  q* F7 ], e- Eincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 A2 E& s$ K& f6 c8 k, v/ e1 m
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
7 I( x7 v% _5 ^•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 D, A5 c: T: s3 @  B9 m
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
) l% I, L+ s6 `the board;  0 S- B: ?: y, v6 b
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
+ n4 Z$ G, F7 S: b; L" p- f•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 [+ p1 P- r$ i! }7 X; Dthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: U; G7 ~) }' p1 t9 [+ y•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 v9 X  o  B. w. N# gchanging needs of the organization and community;
' y8 [7 I) |8 {# I' d- C; H•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue & O" b# O2 e1 w8 C+ S
commitments;
, `! C( y7 k8 G% b! j•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
7 r8 P- |7 [4 z•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - ~5 \5 z- t5 ]% Z
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ( ?6 v  j8 u* l
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
* L, {+ m% C  R; }) u•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to + b1 L" O8 Z0 s" A& z% ~% {
effectively and positively represent the association; 0 a3 {; d. b( L" z& Y% Q, E" V! H

" @8 D* ?) v4 B& S- j" F•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring   D4 k0 ^0 Q, b! f0 {( j
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  ( J# z$ Q- B. q/ _  s- O, r- Q
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ; g! k) A% d- _, t* U
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
+ p& r* E; M) \. _* xthe forthcoming year;    V( G7 n3 R8 E. F
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ; [9 K# V) {& z" [3 t0 A. c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
& L; Y  O2 O1 V3 A) O- P, L) ], fYWCA Canada; and
  B& Z) l9 T, V! q% P' l5 ?•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
. ~0 {; @1 [% s* A3 hForces.  
& N) w, k4 V! D; c- s# h  1 r7 R- b* f/ Q! u/ V
Required Skills & Abilities # X3 s; ^# D, m7 j
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; # c/ h0 h5 e& w
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus / J" ]' t2 ]0 u8 K0 V
around decisions, plans and actions;
- T& ?; o7 M/ M; R* l% f5 r•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; , ]. P, ]; W, f! p. E6 I$ p0 `4 j
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
8 x$ O: |9 N5 c1 G: k% Rand achievable with realistic timeframes;
) A/ {  x5 n0 _3 `•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ( D4 R$ E3 X9 f/ ]* H* O0 f
simultaneously;

4 m  v! e: v: g0 G1 ], X4 Wrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
& l: d: u3 z. q) @9 N- B•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ! c" L; R9 ]: n1 |; @7 f. q
6 K2 M, b8 q  H; Q
Required Experience # F) ?# g) }: {% d4 b
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ) ]3 j2 S, G# T
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation * T) _% S1 p% |: v
abilities; 0 P5 J6 l) O1 {9 \% w) `
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ( o4 ?" g# u! o2 P5 B$ G
Networking and Fundraising;
, G5 H! W  g$ I% J2 K•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 6 @. k$ _  V% x+ m2 p
and financial statements; and 0 g1 d, O/ m  P
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 9 d) q9 \; d' ?" \
centered perspective.
