Responsibilities

4 H" Z# n. `! o! J! U" x! j hReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
0 R. [6 I# [" r1 p. U8 r) v0 aexecution of the YWCA Strategy + e( [9 E' W/ x0 b9 H7 S! `

( A* v! j: L+ }8 B! }0 }; s6 ?• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
& H _: }/ |- zthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by # Z" j7 |9 a0 v- z) G" q! f
the Board of Directors; 9 j3 V; R/ {5 A0 c5 W3 ~
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ) }! K w& j8 c: t& _
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to * Z0 \$ g8 y+ F' d3 D
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 S7 G- b% L; A2 _ K& F1 Z4 i• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
0 q! t1 ^5 R+ q/ d4 }objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by - E) s2 A% @& A" e; m
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + c' I8 I; t6 w. |4 a( [2 o8 F
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ! c4 I) z( v3 J$ ?0 u y5 D
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 2 K5 Z: h1 I* E
changing needs of the organization and community;
' B; z- A" r; l8 w# X; c0 h• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ( \4 k& K9 ?) X6 Y" h p# B# r

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; $ G+ Y0 Q& w( ^0 x; w
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, G+ I5 t5 a# ^) [: e2 B' Kselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; / g9 I5 d w, z$ U& u
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 5 W0 p2 U5 o5 F' |
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to / O2 T2 |9 y* h) k- Z2 V
effectively and positively represent the association; 8 j" v3 Y! Y f2 `+ _
X. o+ v: W& L5 e• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
; q2 `4 }2 U! X- Jthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
$ _ e* l0 R$ n% _6 E% X• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
: J, v' j& J' r( xperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED % R2 v' d! q/ U. [" @2 m
the forthcoming year;
2 J I& K; P; O* g• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 4 }. x! K( |2 w2 n# Y( O8 |/ k
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 6 T& D. R- t" y+ I0 P% j x
YWCA Canada; and 5 y+ S" M) c2 l, D
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
) o% ^! M9 L' {: g5 e• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
. p" S8 [$ Z. f+ J( `, q% Z6 d& _- S) s
4 o" C; u" k+ Q6 c/ TRequired Experience
5 D. y7 c7 \ ^# u• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 ~- O U" [7 S! v8 ] h
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
- ?. _2 E: {2 u7 x: yabilities;
5 F4 ^& e/ q/ C) W R) P• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 3 y$ ^$ m5 B& v- }( _
Networking and Fundraising;
