The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
$ J+ H, [8 |$ Q0 J' Z1 B# {# J4 Pthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
- ~+ ^5 v b3 Hthe Board of Directors; + \/ w5 u7 c. o# O
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 q# q7 `! p l: ^5 t+ D
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 2 @4 e+ J/ E7 e$ Y5 i0 W
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
7 l7 l( f; }; t" Y• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and * a* h7 |" g% c3 r7 `; m
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by - R: t2 \; ?' u6 i) o
the board;
# e* W1 @( @& ?! m L• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
: T2 T' x1 i5 d% w* m" k• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ' w4 C* ]. u' k! i1 [3 x1 ^2 v
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
0 ~8 ~. t, o( _- h• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
% T( I2 n/ k$ s7 H• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 {# \ d% k5 i/ K" P# c- E6 Y
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; m, e" y6 {2 U* U* {+ O6 g
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ' z9 Z) b$ l! L0 s9 J# c/ I6 |$ {) G9 g
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to " t$ y( T* a" b; p) g
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
- Q5 {/ w, P* v' o0 A$ ]7 `9 J6 ^0 pthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ' h, T' c( u, L! h1 C
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal " u- m! |/ c7 P' t9 Q# l
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

( ^& _% P- s( N, K) o7 B" y7 M• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical

6 a9 U6 L4 k9 c3 w0 a• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 a _5 A$ r5 A• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : |- x2 {( [: R% \& C
abilities;
& k3 g) J0 i p3 G• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 2 v" A- S+ K* u3 f( O8 s s
Networking and Fundraising;
