Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and # K& i- u3 z5 Q& |$ j) o
execution of the YWCA Strategy - H5 t& B! N5 X1 g* P/ E; |
( E- `( o# k; ~; }Specific responsibilities include: 7 W6 h: J. R8 V) o
& Y3 o. \7 [4 e! l4 u$ c3 l• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of $ A/ t9 r) H) l9 d+ z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by , P& Y w0 S8 d& Z/ m ]& M
the Board of Directors; 8 ~" ~ L) b. u, ^+ m, K8 \
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 9 k5 j2 `3 Y) m6 Q5 U& Q4 G
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
/ y) m& u- T0 n3 Qenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
2 i/ o. p5 Z) f) L• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and + u) b4 }; d1 `2 s& C" q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

+ s) w; w+ Q U' v& D• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
2 }3 E+ V0 X+ _5 V1 T* E6 k• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; Z% @: B4 y( l1 G0 sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 1 d0 f2 Y% a3 z+ l
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ?% b; B+ H. m, w _6 F9 i. ]# I9 y
changing needs of the organization and community;
; r6 Z4 \4 L2 o: Q' I" g& m7 F• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue - z7 }% {9 ?/ `4 y
commitments; 9 a1 W' x- Y! q) L
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
! k/ Z9 C$ R9 a: R, _4 M• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' _( |' n* Z, N S
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 4 \5 I) h+ N3 e0 W/ z' [
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

2 F! a' h) Y( [• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , y& z( Z. R/ M7 d: O6 h1 D
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; " O# z) I. Q1 s% @8 P: x
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
! X. x+ O9 H6 F4 tperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED . _# R# S, `& g
the forthcoming year; ; G, g8 {& u, i' Q0 [2 ?
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% D' p0 V: Y& i* V/ h; b8 Gpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 9 g/ T% k) ^- U$ Y- I

Required Professional Designation / Certification
9 ?. @- |& I% S; P/ Y9 i$ \• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 1 N+ V3 N0 ` P0 l
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 r) }0 e0 J5 U/ s
abilities; 2 s8 s# W- l+ e7 y
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
8 J6 V) z. Q" Z$ i o) w8 B2 \Networking and Fundraising; " k0 Y2 F, a' u8 F7 @
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting , l$ R4 c6 u1 U
and financial statements; and
" Y* l: w! h0 e: K q• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
" `7 g( H$ ]/ @centered perspective. 0 m @; p5 q8 @/ w1 R
