$ T  i& n7 f; l: R/ O1 uthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
$ }+ J. e9 j2 E" ZEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
9 D0 T5 a9 u0 d: J4 tsurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA 2 |# B" |9 K$ D
Edmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ! t9 _/ S9 F4 i) c8 H9 G  |
execution of the YWCA Strategy
5 R9 B1 H( y/ R
  ]7 u; n& p8 `: O9 d; F+ SSpecific responsibilities include:  ( ]$ Z6 J5 o% x" N2 O: c1 o

0 R* I2 S- w) G, S6 v( a•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 7 v- c1 n0 X2 Y2 g0 ]& W1 F
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by " B% q. e& g% U% i2 a
the Board of Directors;  
( s% W, c) x3 ]) c1 }•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations " o5 A: |. o3 ]
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
: i/ ~* n, O( u+ r3 ^) A* |enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( @7 V) x. D' e' S& v+ ]•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 0 `- u5 T# u" r4 M2 y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
! R# d/ L' J- E  x/ gthe board;  7 Z' o% K$ x2 W$ A+ T4 u/ j
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  2 c, r# {# H3 M, I# H+ ^  Y: k6 e
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 1 {' i5 _- K. n+ c. F
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 Z7 X; G% o3 \3 I
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
, u/ X9 W8 y9 K4 r& w$ T. w0 Ichanging needs of the organization and community; 6 }2 G( S4 D0 C! X& [) k: |
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
: Z* u) t1 X8 m; d2 ~' T/ O4 Icommitments;
: q3 I: a& B8 P& e  @•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;    t/ X" `2 Y: j& d+ S8 \. J; {
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
% s" d( I3 z5 L! Kselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  8 ~6 M+ e% U4 G
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; " L# H1 L* m) t; q4 W/ q
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ! y& P+ _; l" p" d  y
effectively and positively represent the association;
* r0 I. f4 E. w5 s' o, s' J! h
/ t4 k$ {2 W( a; k% V" ~- L•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
# C! B4 F5 D, D) othe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  & t( W( u, f' N: F3 Q2 G$ e
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 w1 K4 ]- c3 L6 f# X
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
1 J& O( X1 L0 G% L- Othe forthcoming year;  
, I, F; P# `) W- E, u4 c( \•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ; F  t* x8 g' b& x# p6 b
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 5 s& X6 G% x  N7 N
YWCA Canada; and " |5 `. X/ x( m  v
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task # f+ z( ?; x" A" Q$ S
Forces.

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
0 c" L# ^9 B0 E) \•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 2 e6 b# X! z; I* S
around decisions, plans and actions;
3 K3 Q( b6 K4 O/ g3 Z0 ?3 P, v; S' O•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
& R9 o) B) z! J. V$ ?8 T•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable - k. `! g$ P2 z
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
, k: n; M& p+ V$ G) K6 @( i7 Q9 z•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks - R9 }0 D+ P) K2 Y
simultaneously;

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ( D( Q+ n/ N2 y/ o
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification + _( X! r2 j! |  s
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.   B+ n8 K( S( S6 l

0 K1 [" z4 L' s  JRequired Experience
! E* v$ q, |! l! n" Z. ^' N4 l4 h•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
: q8 p( U: K8 k* H•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation $ ]. {8 l7 P& `7 p
abilities;
# ?+ Z0 z8 u# c0 I7 B* o•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
1 O0 W- l! a. mNetworking and Fundraising; # C5 z. j4 o: `9 H
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 9 k! U- `9 r3 B( [, h) S8 _  M9 c
and financial statements; and + T2 r" C# Y& Y; A: t' x/ ~: p- L  x& {2 @: t
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 3 i0 |% }0 d) s
centered perspective. 9 Y- M% d6 I5 b* E& ?, i% m
