, i+ J, ]$ r4 G8 X0 r1 ]this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

  _5 b& {1 R+ W7 a+ q1 r$ WReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
. R8 h/ o0 h- t' Dexecution of the YWCA Strategy

: B, Z: j4 y0 e5 i1 h4 C; E  s) q4 }Specific responsibilities include:  ( B" v1 D+ j0 `& _& P

1 B1 I* {5 G  T, U•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
) B" l4 J0 ?& u& H7 b  b( `- M+ Kthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 q5 Z1 I2 m5 ]( q
the Board of Directors;  1 |/ `: c. P7 [+ Z: O
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 |2 o& m: I! {8 ^3 y3 N3 M; W/ rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
- R3 \' K4 x; G' g+ nenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 4 h* j: l6 j  M1 P; y3 g" D
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 `0 B. m: Q/ X
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
- O, d% p" j, k# [/ H! A* g1 mthe board;  
3 b) ?( q+ L! v( s•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  8 b) c$ A2 D& `
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
4 t+ N% A- Z# a/ i: c8 U! C0 i, ithe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
$ J* M$ I: j$ c•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% D8 Q, n9 y0 c; m6 R6 b. R- m3 |  Hchanging needs of the organization and community;
( L8 B; N, f8 o/ ?& C: I•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
; P0 j  c; e  z6 T! V  [" Jcommitments; 6 L- X0 o6 B# \, R9 q
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ; m6 Q8 A, g- _8 @4 @$ W8 b# w
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
3 Z' x8 ?. D' W9 t8 X: dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ) E+ O. Q% L1 e3 y  \
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; & N1 F5 u" l% `4 z4 ?# W* \% [
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
" z* Z" O. [5 U! q  `; B6 V( d: reffectively and positively represent the association;
* J2 j$ g6 |2 G3 U3 v7 j6 ]; e( v
5 t4 b  ~; _0 U, Q2 _0 L3 E2 b•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
4 z) L5 {. p; s: Y4 Ithe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  $ R+ N( x& a( f# h( B. |" S
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 7 W3 m2 b. a% D4 F2 J
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 y6 o0 R4 p( q5 N+ F
the forthcoming year;    d: N( n) {3 _& Z1 @" M* }$ {
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 3 p- i, M" v# n3 [
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 0 x  }2 ?% \3 ]1 N0 {8 ?
YWCA Canada; and % F9 v& r/ N5 e5 f
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! r- i& }. }4 P: ^, V( s
Forces.  7 }" g/ D, v4 b' u

Required Skills & Abilities

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus : j% Y0 N4 A4 g! y: S; U9 z; G% ^0 Q
around decisions, plans and actions;
& f4 k4 r% Z1 o( v9 Z•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
3 U( Q5 I! f+ S5 b•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
& g& B) q6 \7 \7 P* v( `" _6 ^) xand achievable with realistic timeframes;
9 _7 P0 h* t: n3 {0 g•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ! W) O  q$ q3 {$ X5 X* T* f. [
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
, k6 C" t+ j; k- v6 j•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
2 k7 Q1 L4 j# u% Z8 }# [4 |( Q' u + f$ S' }9 A$ f
Required Experience
% ~0 v* |! g" u; ~8 {0 w•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;   j6 n. k3 z' r( [$ j
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
2 X, W/ y. v; n7 @3 U! Labilities; 3 G# H% A4 M) z+ z1 g# M& u0 w/ E$ i
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, , g; |! B) @1 L6 G! U# a
Networking and Fundraising; 7 p0 J( _6 C; \& s
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
5 H8 y- b6 `: \' Mand financial statements; and + |$ S" H9 y2 J" [: F" ~
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
) m4 r& P! {3 Y/ ~& pcentered perspective.
