Responsibilities

& q& { I# ~+ s: \8 NReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
( y( J! [ n& y* }' yexecution of the YWCA Strategy / M4 }8 B+ }; O8 g' m( m% c' Y* \

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of k' r6 W" X+ W6 N7 Q; b
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
0 e. k0 A) w: W! E9 Sthe Board of Directors;
, S3 |9 @3 k5 e f$ B5 f8 N6 F: c• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 J- D. O* c2 Q
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to " T4 }7 K+ N1 r; w
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
" W6 X# M- J! L7 e e• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ' f- x- B8 ?2 R1 f/ L
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
; i: K7 C! A# u/ I1 k+ E• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion $ {/ M- W( k- }$ K
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
0 d- {7 C8 U7 Q% c• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
8 v3 F; I1 B, f3 v$ R/ b, L. F& [changing needs of the organization and community;
& o- E- O% I+ G$ p9 W• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; $ n- e: n4 m: H2 k( Z/ Z
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
5 {# X% L+ X, Q6 X/ yselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; }% m6 G; V" g6 V4 T% O# n4 `
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ) k9 ^0 I; M7 r( B
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , z# p* P+ [* H: Q# ?/ g0 Q% }
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 1 E: ^% m9 I2 {
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 O& s3 |; u4 @+ ^
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
4 ]3 E/ l; B# I3 V0 Nthe forthcoming year;
8 F; S" I4 d' Q/ _• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 1 p& G8 o; l6 i
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / O6 y- K6 L' D" E$ k
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
1 u2 p5 I' f6 X! X% o! F• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience * e( b# a8 e' X; J9 _, B
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( }. Q m+ j9 F$ A1 E• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
- h; D" P( s. G' i8 i& Q6 Pabilities;
% f& c( }" }# }; `$ n1 Q• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 2 \* U2 W" e3 ^( H6 \
Networking and Fundraising; ; q* C( q/ W1 F
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting # `0 p" N+ h" `* H# k+ k2 G' H
