execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: ( f" J! N! J3 y9 i% W
+ [9 J2 v$ b/ S7 }; U9 O& M• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 0 M: p. I! ?1 l; `% g
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# p. N0 I9 q8 Z' M3 Vthe Board of Directors;
- M* \% r3 e6 n: ?) [8 n9 f• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations & N! m! \ p6 x% A& `
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % Z* y( z' Z; |; o
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
- s7 o* Y& i# V1 }7 l/ z# v• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" U. i; x) C# A) fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by : t; h. k* t( B+ x0 y' I
the board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 Q# Z0 i; i& Z
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
. ^- }3 u( J4 ]6 m5 j, ]• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the : q+ `8 b6 A( m. J. H4 K
changing needs of the organization and community;

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ! A6 G/ B6 Q* E- h" @$ G
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" O; J# g* r; a" p& _$ aselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ) o4 o$ V7 S/ r
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
% ^/ X) K4 A, ]7 r% g: f, \! s• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 3 f' W: ? v1 S* c$ B
effectively and positively represent the association; ; Q$ }, I, B; s- ~" l# |0 ]8 i

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring % J9 F9 R7 M* y6 k& _
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
+ C' _( Z: Q9 }• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal $ R: S4 y3 m% p$ D
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 G7 A. _% i7 g: ~" a) Q/ V! I
the forthcoming year; 7 ]' K2 E! i9 K
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
$ d8 ? l, ^9 ?+ u( h ipractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
0 H$ |- ^& H$ UYWCA Canada; and
8 k: y2 a9 |7 N' M3 V* k% I• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
" U, [/ t% x7 Y• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; + j& N& K" R; w$ Z! n( q
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 3 c- o: u; g# E: k7 T. M
abilities; 7 l- L1 A5 _$ _$ T( q0 @
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 4 D: y; p0 T/ H; e7 L9 V0 C
Networking and Fundraising; ' z' ]1 H/ e2 B
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
9 l& n3 d4 r: y, ~and financial statements; and 7 j$ S" t- J* I) z9 L
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 3 u( i/ w) k! F/ F/ k7 ?
centered perspective.
