Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 7 t6 S- Q: R1 A8 ^7 s, u
execution of the YWCA Strategy 7 C6 b$ x9 a+ s( D$ L

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
. ~3 Y( J/ J& s. h- }the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( H+ Y& `4 }' P$ C
the Board of Directors; 8 D/ D( H+ Z) l( I- Z! k
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
3 G0 `" K% h0 H1 \8 K1 ]. iincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
. `, F* r0 I( }, L. aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 8 ^5 E& S% I. I; K
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and % r1 y6 P) V/ U1 h# }% j6 \
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
( N% r9 |+ N! N) _9 G4 B$ Tthe board;
( s- D8 [: h' `, ~& I1 q, D• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
, u: c4 Y D D" T• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion . G$ K' r* A, o- I
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
1 N M, }+ O" F• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
+ N, ]3 q" s% Ychanging needs of the organization and community;
2 \- s; v0 ~1 } t. x7 e• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 n+ K& a+ U2 \+ U- ?! N6 d8 |0 i6 w• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
! T5 S7 _2 k7 X1 _selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; & K' ]: l; L5 t4 ^
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; - F/ |- r0 D+ h3 \) G7 v( O
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 B+ }' X! u1 M; j" U+ f7 Y
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ! C0 K3 U: g! |' b& l! i5 W# k$ P
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
; `* n5 Q! |6 q& k/ k& qperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
( M- T1 O% }7 S2 u* _- Pthe forthcoming year;
# u1 T- I) I! e6 e3 S( ~• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 4 S3 [# s- z Q4 v: b
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

* ~& A! t0 a2 Y6 m• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

Required Professional Designation / Certification 9 s1 c. \2 s/ [9 P" a
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
+ E9 h( K* x' c- a P• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; , O0 J' e1 d9 r
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation # m& ]& X. g: {! B8 K- O& f0 C
abilities; 6 O: i! @. G+ t1 u$ B* w
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% n% w9 c3 B0 y( \, u5 r) s8 PNetworking and Fundraising; $ j2 m8 L, j+ D, t0 ]7 o1 H/ [
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting , z" W- a/ L+ ?' v) x, U: M
and financial statements; and
2 M! V8 \/ P6 S) x! b; J9 p• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 1 ?" m" \, G( i' r
