Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
' i$ S: V3 W5 q% |7 c% O8 ~/ ]execution of the YWCA Strategy 5 _4 |; v, [8 {" W! u& _
1 {$ z; q( I4 _: r. [6 B0 HSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' ^. @0 G- g( m; t- ?$ D% gthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 ] V$ L" N; W0 I, u/ Ithe Board of Directors;
6 i, u1 W6 U0 [1 [7 z• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ( s8 D8 b; z4 q0 ^+ B4 H
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
( M* {; N2 x2 Y5 \( r8 n9 c1 c5 tenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( w) n7 G: O4 M' [5 v3 r• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and # S" k# \3 y; A6 W
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
/ N$ f2 V4 u' T4 @$ Othe board; ) U0 x' L$ Z' {* ^% f
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 5 X/ } _# q; [% `/ b8 N4 C- l
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 A$ u7 U3 b. T! ?. }the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; % J( t+ J& D( F& V' f- ?/ M
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
" K: ^5 L; X2 J( G; y8 l9 Nchanging needs of the organization and community;
8 B# m2 F, |) @• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : k+ T+ E& [" w( F
commitments;
# X+ s! S$ U& j9 O& f• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
B% R3 s5 u! G- }• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
/ J2 u# y5 D9 S; y. R0 n7 W/ o) Zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
4 y2 c/ v) e" K/ D• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ; m$ S P) ?/ w9 U& b& T" m/ J
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
5 e$ m2 Q2 S; [6 |: ~effectively and positively represent the association; X9 M1 U0 v/ c3 F6 @8 n
5 C* s* h9 {4 v3 [# e/ f• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring . S1 j/ i; I$ W! a- X& ]
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
! _. l7 Y4 I0 c1 c$ _" |$ y& V• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal / n3 G( D4 ^# w, M
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
& F1 Z& `0 a9 [; _' Y( W$ o0 Bthe forthcoming year; : w6 ~0 O* F8 v7 r( e9 U
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
' V( n) r1 b2 K3 O2 a8 Kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
" y5 I& J( l7 z7 H! XYWCA Canada; and - `9 B( j t" t: F% \
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
`5 q; `* v( {7 ~' J4 [Forces. 8 R6 l8 L( D( m; r% x; H1 {

Required Professional Designation / Certification - o* h; e) D$ @& G2 M0 G% p
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience ) i7 b$ i3 B4 \- W5 n
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
) k5 t9 O8 K3 s2 y7 q& |8 j• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 9 ]( W5 G0 b9 [7 [* y" W
Networking and Fundraising; ' Z! |5 z1 \- T9 L9 e: \ p
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . z$ w3 Q) R2 t' s' B. T* C
and financial statements; and
