Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and : u( s# W/ m- h2 z: @5 Q+ I
execution of the YWCA Strategy ) U. n9 p+ x( F: v6 _3 w% U

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% w, Q9 L5 F5 ?the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & @, w* g% c, W7 H
the Board of Directors;
0 l0 L c2 t4 S2 ~• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
' J$ d9 } {3 N% Mincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
% v, I. i2 L) }/ denable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; $ f1 u# v5 K4 U9 K2 ~8 K' @
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ) T _$ Z3 c: ?0 ~8 ~7 p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by " \8 S( K* A' m
the board; - k9 j) B+ e7 D; \7 ?
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( Y1 `" @0 J9 {$ P) m1 I) ]" t
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
# z. i2 o6 [: S S8 Q: Lthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; % R, d" G6 S1 s- B2 v! M/ P
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
! M3 l7 q' M8 rchanging needs of the organization and community; 9 A1 k0 c1 G- K+ A
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue % ~+ s8 @; S: I# o; z8 V
commitments; ( R4 _0 N O3 T# E9 F6 P
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
4 `+ f2 E7 o5 X6 N. }; i1 C• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 7 H5 z4 t0 q. [, Y) h& ]
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
8 V" h8 a7 s2 e• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 q3 X: `! `& z, [
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# Y- z) r. u" L/ O* N# m6 s7 y) Ueffectively and positively represent the association;

1 N& T0 \' @) H& D% w& d$ Z• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 ~6 @8 v* X, A* P4 {" \the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
. B: S/ {# @5 N+ C- u• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
% v; `$ h: N* \# T" T' Xperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 5 h' w9 n% z" I3 U t6 ^. Q
the forthcoming year;
5 R) ?7 w2 h. \- Z• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
+ |; S- E2 E4 ~( J0 ]2 kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; I( j/ m% F& L+ k) f3 x" l
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
