The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities ( i- |. w% d8 D
- @; G1 {0 }; o5 H) v1 YReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
8 T' h; i6 o. L% ~+ ?execution of the YWCA Strategy ! }" t) t: M1 c$ B5 H" K
+ R9 T0 F1 E& `Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of . T) D8 t8 [' u
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 {# o: p% g# i3 h$ d: |+ d
the Board of Directors;
+ {- c+ k7 X+ u* q% t4 z• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 {! p9 n# @. E% v. H* pincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ) \2 \( ]# D5 M1 m4 x ^
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! \( j5 q, M9 C+ p. M8 a• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" [/ |% |: A! G) M! Eobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; v. ~. ^2 V1 q' H/ D
the board;
+ B9 ~6 I7 Q& r1 n8 V6 h• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( u$ F. u( E- X) S0 e* w
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion " f) F# H6 `9 [
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 8 U9 N9 ~+ d- ]- q
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
; W Z9 h% p/ Tchanging needs of the organization and community; & `: s% T" Z) T& ~
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ' R3 o0 q, `5 a- j" i. k' z. v* H: {
commitments; ) z8 d8 X7 ]" K1 ?* O8 v) z* Z, _
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; , q' ~" X- y0 K- Z: p' g3 j
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
8 o9 _$ s: P$ b& lselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
}; g% m! J7 |# k• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
6 Z; v& b' V" O0 p( ]8 U2 Q. _• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to , I! ~# y' m! M7 ?9 V
effectively and positively represent the association;

1 C4 E4 F9 X' W; _$ o• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
/ s$ j- m8 Q% c: C2 [; ?, ~* r7 Vthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
8 T z ~ K0 n# k! M/ @$ e) j• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
' Z. x, g5 F; x5 a1 U5 |3 c9 tperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , C( T# E9 Z2 {. o ^& I# W8 S
the forthcoming year;
' g' G$ C, O# X' s• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 4 v4 u) W% d, A+ l2 I
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 8 M( R4 H: {; x/ n# t4 n1 ^
YWCA Canada; and
/ F" B" a% n" `• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Skills & Abilities

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience ; `: ]7 k$ d' G' a( D/ L$ k2 P U
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, a, S$ @2 g4 T. E, |; n7 i• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation , i: p( M8 o6 }; K
abilities;
) T) c, f/ i! p; t6 [7 X' O• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 _/ n7 N- a2 ~* t6 B/ z h, UNetworking and Fundraising; 8 Y0 |- l. k& J( C' d
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 4 @. s6 S: F' K. v, Y% M
and financial statements; and
