this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA ( L  g7 _! u/ j5 u; `! n
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
. R! l1 h6 C+ {8 H, C' m2 ^surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

% y3 N( R2 _0 R* B; n) mReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and + v; V: G1 D( Q
execution of the YWCA Strategy

" A  }1 b+ [! V0 q9 WSpecific responsibilities include:

' Y( C: |: o9 @% a$ n3 b' W1 m•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! k! t* {  J% \# n4 U/ l! s' E9 a+ Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! A. `! P0 y% Y8 c+ M
the Board of Directors;  ( y; u, u3 @( @0 p
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ Q- C# ~  _6 k" K: mincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# d/ S* a0 c: c1 i; C( [. H6 oenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ) ]& w+ e1 P3 @# }' y' i" C
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
( p3 k1 \( a6 Y+ Gobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , o5 j# U5 G8 j: Q
the board;  
/ ~' {: {$ T+ f8 L/ i! ?/ N5 A•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
8 I$ e7 Q8 Z3 ]- f& R3 _# g+ F2 o6 L( ^•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 0 j$ c* N9 m- I  Q
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 f* K0 I, I9 W2 o; y•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
0 c3 v' O! I: [, I6 e2 ^7 w5 ~changing needs of the organization and community; ; q! C" ^1 \$ m; l; m% V; k8 U
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 0 p; \. v1 e! m$ E, |
commitments;
8 c5 D' L2 z3 v7 T2 Z. B1 f•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  # x* p' @5 T5 o: M
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
9 Q6 `7 u* s2 O1 i, d' t9 qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  . f) [9 t' v3 x# C
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 6 u# ~. [& B2 Q
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 7 m5 O3 t  q, O, v- K  w
effectively and positively represent the association; 4 L9 O9 d, ~! Z$ z+ R8 S- ]* G
, L6 p) ~: H8 q* \# X" O
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 o$ h) R4 V5 ~
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
/ X8 s' ?4 ^" o. S7 i  _! s* M•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 6 H1 }, ~* {! c  s4 P' d9 \- s* j0 o2 x3 {
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 U, |1 S) J: o$ W
the forthcoming year;  ( ]1 k" j+ Y5 V- C) w
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
) J9 w, _# v$ P% {+ c- cpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
% O" U' ^+ b! @) a$ NYWCA Canada; and
; }1 Q5 W1 A1 b. r3 Q1 Y•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
8 w6 b0 _/ u+ s' L# i& R( ZForces.

& p% [1 U9 W2 ]% \" [+ ]- H& K2 D•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 2 o8 L& @& w) a1 f' Q; S5 E
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
, |  ^" n) I  t! l6 earound decisions, plans and actions;
* g. ~) P! u1 ~, M( I•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 1 {( w6 ?  N& K- U: }& @$ g
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable : k, Q' x+ }- u. g. y! v6 z
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 7 `: f4 i: R7 i% r
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ; K- d5 i0 V6 |2 }6 `  n" w3 l
simultaneously; # E+ M1 e8 {0 \0 J
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
  s9 x7 C# w5 }rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; - ~5 F* F% J0 K, j) _3 M
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and % d7 p+ I1 t! m) ?! z( f

Required Professional Designation / Certification - X6 q4 ~( M" F
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
, \7 F# j% z/ J" f* o/ b
+ \& E1 |- T  \8 \) N* pRequired Experience
1 K% ^, i) S% ]( X* H6 {% a" Z•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
+ C- y" T+ Z( D$ d/ U•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 8 d: Y7 U% k" @4 R
abilities;
- \1 \1 H4 Z, [9 x6 ]$ {! Y% L•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
* F4 g/ T/ v2 I6 q: {4 @& zNetworking and Fundraising;
( k1 W* i0 b/ E, Q; i" j0 G& U) Q•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
2 u0 j) J1 K! qand financial statements; and 4 s8 O5 K: A) k" k3 r
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
" O5 S( t1 F; R# s4 v  u8 jcentered perspective. ; r7 U6 ~9 V2 e
