this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 3 O/ k$ z% Q# P# F
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and   F0 v" X! @  h! x7 s2 [
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Responsibilities & w8 p, ]& x- G  s

7 g. M% p  C! a8 [. GReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
- \! c/ _: ?) s) z* F2 o/ aexecution of the YWCA Strategy
; |" Y  X' o" ~2 i$ Z6 ^
% [8 i- m7 B  j8 ASpecific responsibilities include:  / ]. I) u5 L3 Q, |8 B% T: g# W

! [# q7 d$ ~9 A7 L•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 0 W8 o9 F- B" W
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by - m# ]1 W/ n" E/ T
the Board of Directors;  
* X# H5 M) e! i! p8 l7 M& T# u•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , W2 M8 @/ h8 d. {0 c
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
7 I3 H, t6 Y: I/ s3 Genable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 2 f/ m. {2 w! W, A& u. y
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and " B& j4 r: I4 C
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
. [+ m3 U# m; O2 D/ {4 fthe board;  
  w  r- O- A3 i& S: \% e2 y) K•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
, w2 Z* N1 s; h8 M•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 S7 Q% T1 [. ~+ x  m( g4 u3 |the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 3 ^9 Z; W& ]0 n, k0 g- ~- k8 @
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ; G0 ~$ R. L# ?( d) e, E! @
changing needs of the organization and community;
' n' }6 e0 _* f. d# v$ R! m•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ) j* e: t; M. o2 Y$ D7 Y# q& a
commitments; - E8 U# _2 l/ V. a! g! u1 C( W
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  5 y7 K3 K: P1 T& X7 W" u7 b1 D9 \
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : A9 T, J& u. `% U! T! U
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ' O6 R+ m6 N; `) }3 W
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
( d7 x& q9 t" c2 A•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
$ Y, |* \& }2 U% S) ^6 I' yeffectively and positively represent the association;
5 V, R8 M2 P& S* ~6 i6 R, ?8 v2 ?6 T, y# u: A, [6 M
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. l6 }. m, o4 @; R2 }/ e! C1 x( xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
# e+ P2 ?& d7 R' U$ h6 `0 O4 |* |•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal # n( I7 H3 j6 p9 f4 |
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 2 ^0 t" {6 v, U# E" `6 h! c+ g: R
the forthcoming year;  
0 N3 ^. o" w3 v9 |•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
; w0 B0 k( M  R% N( F. b% L' Spractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
) ]& N5 i# I& }8 ]* q: FYWCA Canada; and : b( Y  v5 M- k3 B) w& `% m$ S8 z
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
- |. @1 J6 r3 ~  w) p0 zForces.

% \% |) e  n" g! H. C•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
" `; y2 g4 |" P( H0 H) Y) B•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
4 Y' o( W$ U8 C/ f' o4 maround decisions, plans and actions; 8 O( _+ t2 U- B& D
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
% E1 \( A, p9 x- `' X& H+ h3 O•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable " {2 I' P/ H* b1 h) V
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
9 {0 I- M; R' z9 x  b# ]1 Q" p•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks % z" u9 }# q  P$ {0 A( @7 w
simultaneously;
. J9 b, M) K; U$ u•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
1 g$ ?, @( S1 c+ Hrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
% ~0 N9 E$ e/ ^+ A2 ]3 f( D% p% e•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

2 {+ }9 r7 z- jRequired Experience
- c& _: Q/ o& d/ A/ `! r•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( b9 l0 M. X: x•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
, x; O$ r7 m+ ~abilities; 1 o; e0 M2 U; F9 a5 O+ A7 |; V
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
: q. J! g+ S2 E( ?Networking and Fundraising;
2 L! @2 T/ U: a+ c8 n•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting # [- L! a- n) z* ^+ u- {
and financial statements; and 8 x# N- q. X* }% u
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
5 g2 \' r- s: ^, f, W/ _8 \" o( kcentered perspective.
