thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; H. W6 ?* A3 cexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: , K: l. Z& u7 @: ]
/ T. T- ]* m8 z$ X& }& A• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
& e7 d0 B7 ?% ?the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
" ^& }' Z7 h3 L' vthe Board of Directors;
; O% U" a1 o* { U6 j; z6 Z• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
, m* M) `+ v8 [! g2 H" Cincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 A. M5 S: y$ }% a' y6 l. w
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
6 }( R0 ?% s- ~ f• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
4 o% J3 F# Y% n- f& T' V; qobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

6 R- a4 N0 ^4 _- B" m• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; , L" w, E' }: M0 b
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 W9 H: v9 ] mthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; i* H; p" }# H
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
" Q; ~- g! i6 Q* o, Y' G s( M2 }changing needs of the organization and community; 8 L, J4 K" Q1 h. x/ L$ r
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
' f- V# ~9 ?' @* l8 B* [commitments;
! s6 g6 ] T0 _" h# m8 H/ O3 Q• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; : r! y Q4 A( Y: L9 \
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # Q. B7 `; s7 o7 K0 g" q. E U* R, v
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; l `, G5 D W" a5 d+ m( r8 D3 w- I
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
# N7 T( C) ^7 u% f6 Bthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
& a5 ?2 T S2 Q: q7 u) L( G• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , y+ j G7 M* `% h
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED " s$ g& ~' E L; m2 p2 x: P* R
the forthcoming year; 9 h" p g3 g7 p: u' Y1 k
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 0 e& P7 G% ^* Y) K6 Q
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
! o8 \' Q- p- M+ }% k- j3 YYWCA Canada; and 5 J1 y' Z1 X( x4 N* Z' R

Required Professional Designation / Certification
8 t$ K$ @+ V& i1 Z% p• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience 8 s3 u1 H+ Y q3 T2 Y; P5 {' M" J* _
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
x8 Q7 I& b0 ?. X; R• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
4 g$ m. {! [+ x' s j9 t7 vabilities;
9 M, a- [9 z! m, x n1 x• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : a) J5 Q% Y# _; h! J$ t& d1 U
Networking and Fundraising; & n1 y7 w5 v# o: w& a' V' G- E
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
