this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA + W/ T; G. r  L! ^' k; x1 u
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

' r# k; t$ L( A3 q( u0 MReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and " a8 Z+ d% ^1 N5 f/ Q% }; Y. f
execution of the YWCA Strategy 2 b& v5 y7 N! F3 x1 }- c4 _

9 i% ]) m8 K! L+ F% Q3 V  N! W, {: CSpecific responsibilities include:  5 [1 |2 E" ]: ?" p% i
+ `4 J, Q* ^( C2 t
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' Y+ p5 I: I' S0 M
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
" p% N# m7 @. |2 E' f: @the Board of Directors;  
3 X& p+ Q- ?, l/ C! B$ h6 B5 r•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
! R" X/ Z! i$ J2 uincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 L- b1 j1 Z/ R8 _0 r; z0 ]; T* |5 e+ v
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 7 x8 Y9 S2 ~( w$ A: m
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 2 j& ]: e4 e& T) d
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
5 l( @! y% X& s! C* }& j2 |the board;  
4 q' O' N7 ]- ~: `•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
' S2 e/ t; O7 h1 K•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 9 u! ?. e& y3 N1 a5 {5 R
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
. h" N7 B' g0 l: g# d# j•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 2 v5 L; ^  O% e- e% n# E' I
changing needs of the organization and community; 3 f( H! O8 w, P3 U* B  a! W
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
1 a- f& r" L: Bcommitments; 2 T7 w; j0 q  J/ }, K
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  % N0 {- _8 R6 r, h3 [$ m, A+ q5 {2 U' _
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
5 D9 r% S8 g8 Y3 hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
  |+ }. Y: K* h& w; U! V% m! E5 N•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 2 l& _  P- l' o. @6 f% r
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to - G2 Y7 A! k% Z
effectively and positively represent the association; ' b" Q/ i3 `5 Y' U6 Q/ S' U" S

•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
1 T1 ^* I) f' c- c; rthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
2 B, Y6 `) x$ v( W  r! z0 @# q•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ! v7 H. {5 p& T$ g5 P- C3 f1 Q
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! i/ }+ @# |4 V9 c. K6 [the forthcoming year;  
2 s, s5 @% f* L* s( X- r•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 2 l" V  `. I; @% C
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
' `* ]8 N- {1 w2 FYWCA Canada; and
6 [2 o* t" c: @- e- ?6 n•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! q6 d0 B: V( X6 `* W3 \! ~

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
0 s! ?+ d3 [- B) m0 Z•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ) D, K( Q' d+ o8 h
•  Superior negotiation skills.

& \3 ]& I. D( Q+ O4 I9 c- c0 D Required Professional Designation / Certification + \& t8 ?" s+ |
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ; S& \0 k+ E  _7 G& ~" E; \9 `* a

; N' U7 t0 p' q) @Required Experience " F" E! X( k6 B* v6 q/ J
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; " W9 ^6 j: O$ l9 u) `3 |' \0 C" _
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
  n7 E, I8 G" \+ V/ Wabilities; 5 B8 j1 u7 }" G( x
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 4 b. a# m+ N: x
Networking and Fundraising;
5 z& \% O+ y$ O/ O$ o; @( ~•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting : _& t, `0 |7 ^5 C# ^0 L/ [
and financial statements; and
# \  V+ c: h& I6 R. R9 j1 ^•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
. w0 J$ d# r+ q' hcentered perspective.
