The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic + a' E+ Y" Q6 B5 D4 B

this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ; x6 M$ C# O; T* X/ S$ U, t/ n
execution of the YWCA Strategy + J. R5 v" ?" q+ j4 j

  y6 _: L( \8 c  _Specific responsibilities include:  2 M0 u% }# _) J+ h( Y7 K3 q
( Y! y0 Y  A# `9 {% l& Q7 i
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of + t6 V/ \0 b9 X, p) b# c" P
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & c0 Q; `& D7 \. w2 ~
the Board of Directors;  7 s- U% [/ X& T  \! V/ H
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 7 g+ {1 `; q5 }- J3 _7 n
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# W! A9 B4 N7 K/ B- Yenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; # s0 c. s6 M+ f* O- S' o
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and + @. `* }  C. I$ d+ ?5 [8 i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 1 z' R' Z4 ^8 n  O9 O
the board;  1 e5 Z; @/ S5 p% w  u2 m7 }& q2 j2 M
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
' a# o  [2 i* }# d# n& |% E& b•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ M  U( a& z% Fthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
- t  e, G$ R% t) Y- \•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
% {  [+ `# _/ d; f: P' wchanging needs of the organization and community; 5 Y, g. B" d7 @/ p6 N
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
, P# d  W: U. O% B4 k5 ~9 w3 g& tcommitments; 6 U' u+ Z9 {! f; B$ f7 o
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
) A& i# d+ T2 A: ~•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective   P( B  A9 u$ Q$ ^2 a
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
* ^0 f6 K& s( v* G9 R•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; / y9 q  T5 `9 C/ a4 k6 {6 U5 F
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 7 ^) ^' Z% Q: K* Q
effectively and positively represent the association; 3 x- |4 f8 q3 |" ~" K
! Z2 R0 R- Q7 X% T! t7 m2 O! y9 p1 B
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 Y, X; G' v  V8 a6 H% nthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  5 D3 H7 o7 K  K6 A' u. c9 \6 P" [
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 8 {' o! _* ^: `  z
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
% H- H. y/ q# R  mthe forthcoming year;  1 J) d3 K, o2 @+ w6 I; Z
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: O, S: j, D, F, [+ hpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
, C& }3 L6 R, U- ZYWCA Canada; and : Q7 v9 H* n3 X; N$ A. H+ p
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task * E" S9 e; {1 V' C2 P/ O

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 3 `6 |2 G3 d+ b! x4 G
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus / R; q- G$ ]* i; s$ m8 i* B& r3 c
around decisions, plans and actions; 6 J' ]) g- c4 ~2 ?6 E7 h# I
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
$ F! t5 G! N1 \# `9 J( I•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 7 K* i6 w5 S' i: k& _& {
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 3 J- q: l. X  h9 g! A
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ! Z4 l- P& D$ v
simultaneously; 9 Y* C. H5 W. P4 Y4 Q
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
0 J) `/ y# v" yrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 7 @- x5 D6 E1 A
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 5 ^! R0 J9 \* v, S  [  N

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 9 y, u( z% x. W9 Z: E

Required Experience * l8 w9 N& n3 E1 d7 f( n
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; $ {/ Q  Q- v7 N9 p2 }8 }
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 0 x- J3 b! T( w3 @
abilities; 6 z5 ]+ E( c# `3 n
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" M, R6 P  G: HNetworking and Fundraising;
, e; `  X( f2 I•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
6 J2 d  }7 o2 Sand financial statements; and : |9 b& C) X5 ], ?
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women * [/ v* a* ~9 \( _0 e
