The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
5 M1 v- w2 h: v; e; _$ A* Y: |; texecution of the YWCA Strategy , o; E" L( F% Y* k# z) g

Specific responsibilities include: ; o: ]. Y: W6 ~/ H' [

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % d3 c; r# @1 A9 l; ^3 X [
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
/ [4 R; j# \' tthe Board of Directors;
# h* X: x+ t) K; G4 u• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& O, g; q2 [# ]- @! P& I6 L0 Vincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ( x0 I, \0 n. @- c5 k: A4 V) u& {
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! i) `* t( M j# Y9 B• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
+ a+ M4 q2 V$ C; M& E7 k/ A+ W. g4 x7 ^objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
& U' x* q |2 othe board; % p8 W" x) h U0 ]8 U
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
, ^: o- @4 e5 `: k' U- k• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 }9 D' H/ f2 tthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ; W" h; z& t9 L6 @
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
' m1 c% {% b* b9 R Ochanging needs of the organization and community; # |3 M$ g$ V! } X9 W. ^
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue / ^/ l0 Z- w$ {' {* b( H
commitments; ; p/ S3 E R' f( e. m1 ]
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
- l1 d! C! Z# q r/ _• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - _, g' G( i0 j" `. r S% G8 ~
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
' [& m/ c$ l) ^$ q4 I; m& j$ [• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; & y( Q. l5 ?2 x ?8 n* I3 ~2 C
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# V$ R( P4 s* G, Qeffectively and positively represent the association; 6 r, ~) O. V* b4 P. c4 C7 p

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
/ I8 @7 u) e) Jthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; : i) O7 G' s: A; s# R
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal + Z- l) ?) s* o6 O' F5 \' [
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 7 o8 P H# y4 w/ g: A0 q
the forthcoming year; " K5 v6 t2 K/ ?
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! t! C+ s1 n' l' f" s4 h# Y0 Hpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of , F/ O' d) c+ C( m4 S. r
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. . z. w1 V$ F/ H1 m4 P9 A

8 D e4 O! q2 f" m5 a• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 8 s5 ` N X# W5 _ y. B
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
0 M6 D* E4 O8 O0 [9 Rabilities;
3 q. {( }+ X/ S) t" z! t: Q8 c" |" r• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, - S/ B6 Z& Z# C1 ]$ L( L7 h/ n/ o
