Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and : ?# L. K! `* `# j) ^/ [3 G
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! Z3 G2 q h$ Z: w
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 8 S: \& N# ~1 f+ @% k
the Board of Directors; ; `6 d0 E9 n9 z' P; s* z; ~
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations + P' g; w _; @. o$ M7 z
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
: Y# F1 q) I( p7 }$ ?enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 2 _! r; X( |& z3 _
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
/ r/ D% f8 ^2 robjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by O" @3 G+ N* m- y, O: Q
the board; 7 |( d9 z. M i$ Y, g! S, s/ _- N
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; & T/ D0 s, ] v- H- q, a
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * y! A& U9 [+ T1 P1 O7 w( j5 p
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
# W- _$ ^! H9 X9 b# s• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

5 p J" w7 ?# `6 S• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue " m: G0 ?. m2 ~( M% X8 C4 G

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
4 s% O# G/ }: v- X6 X# C• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" d0 V) A. \+ C6 q1 ~9 o1 r! }+ t0 hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ' ]" k' n$ R/ B; j+ G( h c1 n
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
; Q$ f& y0 i, B6 w5 a$ K) M9 o) k• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

; k; h0 s( j! O2 t* [• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 m, O! o5 D$ u+ m
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 9 L9 M* c* P k2 B/ ~ b+ H
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % I* m+ q/ R* d% ^
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

* f! f j9 r7 }' o- G: w" H• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 8 w& O+ q9 d6 L! R
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

6 Q# l8 i- V9 @% [, e• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
2 N3 n! b' U# `& @$ q# N, c6 b• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ( b T8 J. X. m* l: J5 y/ _! }

Required Experience z: i8 J7 Y4 K, k$ Q. ]; y2 o
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; & j5 k6 H2 o; _, f
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
/ b# u( W) R. j i; w% H$ y. m8 x9 v6 Tabilities;
) [2 o" ~0 p" O• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
[- R+ j' ~1 }6 E: uNetworking and Fundraising;
