The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 7 o. I0 D! `; _. ~8 E7 Q7 w G* V
execution of the YWCA Strategy t6 `+ D& W4 E/ n; n1 A5 z
4 Z: u" Z; F2 J, `* J4 t# bSpecific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! y, C& {+ j% d
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
, _2 X. |+ n9 Athe Board of Directors;
. y7 N8 K% Z: ~! v1 H. v• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
7 I% y4 W5 N: M0 p8 Rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 0 b+ S3 B( U5 z* a" L
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; * `: A# d$ r1 u2 a9 n4 r$ }
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
! d" l2 d! K7 vobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
% C2 j' y3 n* M7 `the board; * M' g6 m$ w$ U; p, I2 B* w/ e
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
; Y- ~! ?5 n3 P• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion / e6 ]( T3 o! G! b) U
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 [, _/ D4 P* u+ S8 d( S• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 2 C4 b0 Z2 E9 R; a1 s! p m
changing needs of the organization and community; 9 l l2 i( U2 P' j( ]. r8 T( {# h
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue , D1 {! I5 O: |% Q- f. t
commitments;
% z" a1 F P) L# D F+ H5 V% A• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
& w4 G' \. E& }. W5 N• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 7 [" ?7 j7 w. p1 ~% [3 D2 C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ! X7 q! M2 ~1 F7 ~2 D
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 X1 d7 q. E/ _* n8 V s$ h• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
- G) `; W& {5 `5 O: qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ! A& N$ B$ Z& {
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal * T4 J6 { o V- o/ y" S/ V
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
* Z7 S6 W' @$ D0 N7 I3 `& ~7 y _the forthcoming year; + a/ A( W! X; \/ ]! C
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 8 B4 t, C, w5 ?. w9 q; A# f- \3 C
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ' @, F- S' N- X6 S- c: n' w N: W
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
, z9 O* R, _) ~5 P3 P% H4 L* p4 D" r• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ; Y9 \* `/ S$ p# A
