Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and - g! `* E- y/ d: s; o
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' Y+ O% _( y* e+ G3 O1 c
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
7 h( R L& m0 g7 rthe Board of Directors;
5 l9 ^2 T Z3 r" i4 ]% l• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
0 }+ d. d {( a- r) u5 o/ sincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
6 C8 F4 a7 x. aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
c$ Z# s; q" Q L• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" r0 I1 D& r2 M% U2 Xobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
4 F" n% `. F- [: `# G2 Athe board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion " s/ J8 g0 F, _ K
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 1 c7 {! g) f V" r# L! h( R
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 8 l$ y8 u7 O; Z' ~
changing needs of the organization and community; ' Z: K+ L& [2 Y' Y6 M6 J+ C6 _
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
: N9 J3 M# B4 Kcommitments;
& t' D1 r$ |. z, m2 |• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
; [/ \8 @ c, Z2 q. {: d2 Y/ @; c. j7 d( }• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ( I5 D4 X( J+ A% }4 q7 {
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; / Z! Z8 ~$ m) \6 B+ c, u7 Y; t: M
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 W5 `$ K' D% s
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; $ k6 m* e& ]6 d- V3 s+ e9 u
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , [4 t1 S" i. ~# x
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
4 }1 \" p% i1 o, G1 k3 Q! l# ]the forthcoming year; " k5 ` H1 ]" a9 V
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical - z0 k! C; p5 B' ~( f0 O$ Y9 e+ \
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
# s C/ l- v+ j. F/ g1 C: dYWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; % t% ^5 n( z' @+ a/ ]0 J5 Q
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 1 I; B2 T7 x% B8 n- F1 ~$ V2 x

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
