Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
/ v6 P2 y- m' z- U( t e0 |1 Xexecution of the YWCA Strategy ( w& @* ?# c# H8 y: e

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of . {2 O9 i2 W: q% t* y. i" k" e
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 0 I$ e+ W6 O5 ^; r# B( @" Z$ N
the Board of Directors; $ L0 g+ e5 T" Z4 j- _4 R0 R
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 A! a! e+ R+ p8 v! x. \; g
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to : K5 F: i3 f ?% r+ z' ^2 O
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; T! P$ ~8 G, P+ |/ S* a3 y
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
p: D B Y3 z9 ~' bobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ A, l, [ c. h+ N1 S* q
the board; ' }' E" e2 |( w: c# V6 F1 m
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ) g- A+ s, ^0 ~3 Y) y& r3 d2 P
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
- a: x( o( K/ V' a/ \the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; + q' O* f) M" D5 J+ D3 e& M0 L
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 7 d' |" i. W' I, p7 [' G
changing needs of the organization and community;
% }! F2 g8 Y: _3 E6 G3 m• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 4 Q) C5 B2 ~1 Z f% S/ ~! W# h* H
commitments;
* v. x, O) [! y# y$ F1 P+ W9 Q• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
! H& h3 N$ N& ?( |0 Z/ j• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
5 e2 c; O/ I# `1 ^+ Pselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
' H+ q$ ]* p' O% T4 ~0 {0 H• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 V- r) @7 D) A+ V* B; Rthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 9 L2 Y% ^5 v$ K" j h5 S4 V
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 6 K" G X. f7 T0 X- v0 t+ u( \3 K
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , \; Q+ F; q [* D- d* y
the forthcoming year;
! k/ g% w+ w4 Y• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 2 }2 }, X7 V! |" ]# f
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Professional Designation / Certification 3 S* w3 }- v$ {9 @! z/ {: i
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. , M2 f0 X& h- g; W W* P
+ n- C& ~% t' n7 {# ]# b: @8 rRequired Experience
9 F" k6 B! d# i% T- `1 ]( I9 G• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 6 F: k" H# m4 f# o! _
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : F, d/ A1 K+ ] _1 h
abilities;
* k5 O5 Q2 v& e* `# @# B! `0 X' N& ~• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 8 D3 W+ i7 |2 {! a' V
Networking and Fundraising;
