Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

& j$ `, O6 @: b5 e• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 ^- u" q1 P8 A/ B" nthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by + j: M9 ?$ \3 ~: c4 r7 h! F
the Board of Directors; ( i. V4 Q% H' G. b; W5 u
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
9 h8 C! L) l4 |& q, a' Dincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to - j3 O4 l) {& f: e, y. x6 N
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
6 K: m8 B* l# `" a+ n3 M• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
6 t, ?, Z" m9 w: \objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
7 h7 A" K% t% P% ~0 Xthe board; 8 e) _3 J/ m4 p2 H' o- g2 D( j
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
. j. R& k6 I$ f+ b5 ~+ r• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ w* D7 Y# X- f& \9 bthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; - c+ U3 p( M& a* P
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the - w( v& \; z8 J
changing needs of the organization and community;
0 k5 L- } J0 x3 P' a• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
( w* p* s8 W4 F' scommitments; 3 S" b1 v/ g0 k0 D* F( N6 }
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
7 K: K. X$ V2 X+ W. { @, x6 _; [• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
6 C- {. M, u* `$ v: e. F0 Vselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
7 h, H) r$ t1 s# I. `: F• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
3 T$ c" {. r/ ?8 K9 x |# y$ h• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 8 j2 w& U. B' a# W# a
effectively and positively represent the association; ) Z# x- T( O1 a2 {0 X( l- b

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 4 J$ Z! ^- |* c U4 e) [
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 3 D0 C: E! t* D( o2 v
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
! p% V, x$ r8 }) i9 operformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
. N1 j! M3 f& ]' Q) O9 ], ]/ bthe forthcoming year;
5 Q) p' q6 Z; Y! Q• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical % E: t j: A+ o' K: G
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of : i8 _# L; f# M t' Y2 O3 {
YWCA Canada; and
% C. ]; ^ `, s. {• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification : F( B: v6 d8 U. L @3 @2 }2 C
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
; A/ s) ]6 D1 C6 O0 ]* B m/ A• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
# M7 W2 S7 |. Y• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! |. I+ G+ d4 h6 ]
abilities; ( Y! S' b9 S& H1 i# Z2 N' Y8 P2 J
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
( r% H$ Z1 T$ G, m; Z1 iNetworking and Fundraising;
1 q# n7 p$ P6 [/ Z* Y* `6 |• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 1 ^' f5 \- j, ?$ T0 m
and financial statements; and 1 x' R' a( T5 t5 S8 U; R7 ~0 G" e7 Z0 U
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
