The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

execution of the YWCA Strategy * {7 c$ Q, Q1 `& N+ w w7 f" u

Specific responsibilities include:

/ N( X/ y; Z& h6 x• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
" w- X$ r0 h0 \0 x) l6 Qthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 {7 ^" x, E% E! t8 M
the Board of Directors;
& q# K8 J3 p9 t/ L; ]# _& j• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& ]4 j8 G, {! n9 mincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ V5 X# ?8 G6 ]' Y" U* oenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;

objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 3 K2 s' T/ G0 q" u. t
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 Z0 P" C3 j! l( v- Y
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 4 ?) X- E, ^, _ m. b
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 0 t2 F, W+ l. l a2 Z# g0 q
changing needs of the organization and community; 1 s7 J9 Y# ]' N5 |2 p! y, u
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ( B9 }3 ~7 D1 _$ i
commitments;
, `1 K& K$ W8 k' {• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
9 }/ A! c" m! D- z j( D• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective " z/ g1 Y7 O$ H. G7 i
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; + x) w4 r; g0 x E d* z
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ' i+ A$ p: q) w, e1 R) T
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 6 E9 l& a2 Q/ g7 M4 z( ]" B8 v4 L
effectively and positively represent the association; : d1 F5 x1 O/ D" N+ I5 k. c3 B
5 M' Z& C; b- ]# p( h. F; u6 S• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
! @7 [; a% K/ Q; Gthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
3 `( T* v9 X2 C% d. t7 i% |• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 2 }9 v3 o7 }+ C$ Q- {5 r' x
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 9 U6 }' U% U- J! {: U: e
the forthcoming year; 6 ] g9 D: }; m* J; w
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical * ~4 ~2 e. R, Y$ Z
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of % \ V/ r: |) E6 T+ i
YWCA Canada; and # h; a& q. z" n
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ' F0 x7 Q" E4 Y( @ _

• Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

# w% I w" Y4 d- F, h• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
: c' b. q7 n7 |) |/ y• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ) Y# q- |) |8 w( z0 `
abilities;
5 W9 z6 V5 O$ N; a/ [• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 8 O }3 r7 l5 F2 `4 d, y$ E6 `

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting : }/ h" t. v. y/ e# s6 D! ~
and financial statements; and
