Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and I' O( R+ O2 D+ }- [$ b# d+ z
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 1 D+ U& [0 B( {3 |( X
* {2 k" E# H: W5 a1 @4 ^• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 [+ P9 J9 t3 P B
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by + f- n7 I( ]8 C
the Board of Directors; r: k( {4 K9 W0 I T
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ; s8 ]" j& K& {4 X- [. y
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 2 Q1 W6 Q' c- W7 d% o
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; . ~# |2 T4 T5 w6 [/ n
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 8 A8 r# V/ m9 {* r1 |
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 3 Z3 r- f5 x3 G( e! p, ^. M4 h
the board;
# `9 H3 `% g9 k. p• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ! a% V8 S% K9 Z+ }& `: E! M
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 Y; G) ` C! E2 T4 P3 h5 {
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
% u1 p+ i4 P1 X( ~• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
1 m% z, K# l' [. r; d4 lchanging needs of the organization and community; : e: y( e0 e \
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
s* ]# Y0 H, S9 ncommitments; ; m; r# S1 O) b" q& Q, \
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;

selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;

& I3 a" |& p- l* h- p, r• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 c9 @' V ^% V4 W( c
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 8 k: h1 X( y5 d( Q
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
( C8 h4 | R8 Y3 Tperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
% u' U7 A0 r8 y9 g q2 e# {the forthcoming year; 6 ~: ~3 s. w* A4 {! ^
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
* l" V+ S9 A! N! {" R; _+ o% ]3 j8 lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + n e# O/ X: W5 [: m( _
YWCA Canada; and \$ l& h' i: n$ H
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience ; i( E. u4 G* N# f
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ( U. s! t9 Y% F$ H+ X
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : f: h$ D5 Q. k& v. e; V
abilities;

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
