this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
; d+ X3 L" P5 A/ {0 _7 ]& t. FEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and
! _# K" C1 x2 p1 Dsurrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
8 t# M1 c' X3 Y& Q& ~execution of the YWCA Strategy 2 j: W2 n  j4 }+ {( X: k9 s. O
. ?2 @* g3 W8 i
Specific responsibilities include:  8 t4 |' r8 I8 P: I9 f

) ~9 v7 Z" E* ?: L/ K4 |•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 E) [) T0 i6 B" R# }* O* k$ wthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( L8 }; G$ V! l' \9 {3 D- S9 U
the Board of Directors;  
* a# f2 n9 e3 Z$ {. H0 Y& U•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* S+ a0 p% Y; b4 A4 rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 7 u8 `6 Y  T& n7 \+ Q# }. v4 }
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
% i8 J, I) Y% F4 h" A2 h•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( b! n" M, X4 X, I& u* Q+ p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, h* @" Y& u; k, Kthe board;  % L7 k! S6 p1 A! M
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
9 F  z8 I! H2 E. g# T•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
; J' {# J2 O/ j) P" K* \the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
" g0 }) x0 U  K% ~3 A) @& P•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the , @. D6 ^, e5 Q7 _* ~. W! ~
changing needs of the organization and community; 8 K  [- U" g! k) X* [, Z1 r  o( F
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- k% q' F  c! y$ r5 ycommitments;
6 n2 z/ s, A) m# |1 j8 }1 M•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
- ~& v; r; ]6 J•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - M6 f2 J& l# [7 E/ W
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  / B' x+ ^0 V1 y
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
' U, A8 D) T7 z" n, Y5 T•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
) Y$ d' z  V" n- M% L& i7 w  Jeffectively and positively represent the association; 5 F6 c6 |9 H. r0 P6 D) B5 E
# ]0 J6 k, {9 w$ P
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
8 a/ O$ S4 p! H2 m  qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
# \9 \9 A. a; b' ~! t•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , r& V& j6 W' g
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 4 q: S/ U; V6 t0 J6 m4 p
the forthcoming year;  
7 U( w( X1 U; C" M4 ^2 N! [•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical , B- ~1 b. g! D
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 8 Y9 [$ P- N9 {9 R: G+ B7 T0 B, M  w
YWCA Canada; and
8 Q# m3 T  k' @; ?  D•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
( V' p6 E8 n8 T2 J' x9 KForces.

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
! |9 a8 S' y0 Y2 B( @+ A•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus ( V* g8 x' Q9 U8 [- x
around decisions, plans and actions;
6 E- I* k8 H% T# S4 b•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; ) I( s3 [, K0 n! I* A1 Q2 e
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
2 V5 ]. n2 e7 v8 c, k) S1 kand achievable with realistic timeframes; " R, y2 r8 _* u% t, o
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

" M0 K3 P1 X' Z: D0 t4 i( c•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ; P+ ~$ u& W1 h; d9 {
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;

•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
( [) k% x( }6 p9 m$ x6 ~6 X6 E•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 1 m$ n* A/ z2 \4 c% J6 z+ E
/ e% M: t9 l3 X. N
Required Experience & I; M& m# @/ u- S# Q3 R4 v9 }
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
4 K! d+ s2 h/ y! P•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
- E8 H( d* V. H! H5 o; J! Vabilities; , h4 Q7 M0 W$ t
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, * G( }8 d& {6 X: k  w
Networking and Fundraising;
5 H# Y. ^3 t9 P6 W9 S9 l7 N9 o•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
9 Y9 H  G6 @; g3 Iand financial statements; and
. t, T. e6 ^5 b( @) l/ v( G•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
