, N8 Y4 @5 q& g  H) b1 }this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities
( e% `# i/ M: I/ v8 J6 f; f0 C* F$ J : i0 y# |8 O3 O9 e0 e& B6 m% c% O  n
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 6 J; N# m4 Y8 P# m8 W
execution of the YWCA Strategy 5 C0 d! Y, T3 D
" V: D$ J( |( s! E; {5 E: O
Specific responsibilities include:  
+ y2 K; v) X" `! u0 y/ z
$ F. u8 Z. I# `6 {" u•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of , c' H' W8 R. s5 @( C( k! @
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 M4 y) }( m" L8 n  A
the Board of Directors;  0 C: t2 g% s) E/ I. h* l
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - Y  y9 A1 m, c* ?/ E$ d
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + v, C' x* ~# \8 F# j4 u+ F
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
& ]5 r6 K6 `5 U( r! k•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 Y- \8 T8 s6 v9 O% e/ y$ B3 J
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
* q$ w4 }+ i7 c( gthe board;  
7 ]& T9 K; P& g: ~' `4 Q  d. @4 r) v; }•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  % A' Z7 S* [8 e5 m8 B/ s9 L& Y
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 t  \" @5 H7 m& O( g! L
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ' s' s/ w( }( f' H" @' |. S& n7 l- K
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
2 t$ W# V5 x. l+ a% Y' Mchanging needs of the organization and community; 7 O5 T9 L; W# E, W. T) v
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
3 R& h5 C( q& Scommitments;
/ Z& D7 h9 b# [, m•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
) P% L/ r7 n5 g% x. ?" d; G•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
! j: U, Z0 l% P( t( ^) d+ Vselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
9 T/ T8 i( G9 E' N/ D0 M# f•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 1 `- ~) @$ v6 `5 s9 o* `
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to # S, q& {! l9 \) h- I7 J7 l
effectively and positively represent the association;
' p7 `! _& T8 }0 Z+ a+ i& n
; w( w% p* N! N& [' F$ @•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
! }# I5 g; d! W0 Ythe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  - M. W+ {8 z( B( e+ Y
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal & R' N# f" l; q; G
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( s& T" n- {5 T: r% A1 y7 [8 c' e  V
the forthcoming year;  : j; o/ u& L: I3 ]
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
  ^* n3 o% b2 [' P- O2 N6 V/ ]; Npractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of $ K' r: j2 U  l$ N7 o
YWCA Canada; and
" v2 `# O7 G" \* K# p6 ]7 l•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
+ m4 N3 g: {* m+ l* B  q& l& b& uForces.

Required Skills & Abilities
! ~* c* h) f* |% c•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;   X: d& t: ]9 M1 q  z
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus " @( f- u. y' ]0 a$ [
around decisions, plans and actions;
3 x  \( V' X: S7 I6 q•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
5 M/ L% J1 q  G•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable . H7 Z. q! [. S* X- ^9 \" m! B
and achievable with realistic timeframes; 5 @+ W& E" g; ]5 k' M) L
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 3 O0 ?( t) N: T- r2 C
simultaneously;
! {6 u/ |5 _7 w( g•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 4 B3 p" G3 V0 \. |' Z* \
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
4 _7 Y0 H( }* Z6 ^: v( O•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and % {" o: X+ c) e9 V

1 t; Y& M0 p: s* e4 N4 k* w Required Professional Designation / Certification
& E: }0 w; G) ?. f8 s3 B•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. & [% E( l* {. k+ ]

Required Experience
8 n& g" g2 N9 r, Q. x! z•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; + G0 y9 O0 f' k+ n: {: r
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! \* h- v0 u/ W9 [
abilities;
, v* V3 A, |7 \* N•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 6 g, d( K$ K7 C* Z
Networking and Fundraising;
) N5 w/ w/ R& s( ?+ X; u( O+ x•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 7 o- R7 x' K7 A0 m, ~
and financial statements; and
  L" A0 F$ _- D% U•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
