The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
) y' t0 M1 Q0 hEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % X1 g7 E( S2 e
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 5 _3 ]* F1 `; m$ t/ v6 R' G
the Board of Directors; ) q) i( s& q6 x6 T6 b- X
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
5 W+ h7 A5 V& A8 V0 C i3 fincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
: j6 ^3 C& s( w, c, w. Wenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ) D5 {6 B4 _* ]/ X
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% u7 G' B S$ B0 k* }' gobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by + @' Q4 b1 f: x; s
the board;
+ u8 [6 C! t" E: @2 Q* H• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 7 X! Q+ b# r0 y
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
+ _, ` ^" J* Ithe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 0 k. I: {# J( k W
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
1 _8 K: O1 s7 f; v! Achanging needs of the organization and community; 9 p8 v! a. q3 V9 w0 w
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 B$ i7 r8 w* h) ` K
commitments;
0 q! l4 e% P. y• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
/ \) b1 v+ H3 ]* A2 |/ T• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective $ D1 ]" R6 A9 o* @; x
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
0 R" K1 H: x- e, ~0 @• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 d8 G/ X3 d4 a' T' w! ?2 F2 W3 b• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to * w# ?6 N. A+ I0 E
effectively and positively represent the association;

) R, Q0 A- M0 k" l2 W3 r) \3 ?• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 F" W4 W0 n" ~8 M" f3 {% q
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
1 M! {! [$ U# z) H• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
# L: T6 k& y, t0 L8 _- k8 yperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( H5 A, c5 ^; N
the forthcoming year;
* S) K5 Y5 O; n4 t& n5 \, H• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
& r% v; ?2 Q# b- |" ^3 Vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of + c$ l' h# {2 e) O* h! e: [ u
YWCA Canada; and 1 G9 R/ x5 C5 c) g! ?* v3 O
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 0 x# Q) Z; E) U# Z0 W( _& \
Forces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
) E1 E4 Q: V& O4 M$ M3 j @- `• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
# Z/ g# S9 F. y* c5 v& l$ k• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 s5 @" J( \3 t3 s
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' B9 w/ Z& F4 q3 C7 c( T9 tabilities; / o$ A7 a( c7 a6 [
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
3 E; r9 @, V4 K) o( u( P h9 }Networking and Fundraising;
( J, \5 c3 ?8 z% I6 d0 Y6 w# {1 o• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ) a+ a8 m- _* J
and financial statements; and ( x z9 Y" K; z9 P; u" u
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
- t8 e6 E$ y0 O% n! i3 O. xcentered perspective.
