The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

$ Q& F( @% ?& |) ^: w• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! }" e1 u9 O0 ~: y: o0 t* o
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by & Z" S2 R. ~5 P; U: Z* r. y
the Board of Directors;
! I, X: t/ P/ ]• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations . l$ V- E7 r1 \7 ]" o+ ~1 {
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

& e3 p8 w+ L2 p" a; B• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
" f" W4 t6 j* Q& b, p: b. C) h5 _objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 4 e; n0 K* H4 a5 M6 g0 X% D
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
- ]9 ^: h. Y7 U9 U$ Tthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 1 G4 [$ S7 D/ N; w# q; T2 R. d
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
, P9 H$ M. G9 I' _" ]" {% echanging needs of the organization and community;
- R; _% ^& E& M0 e" X/ _• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue # H; K* K( E" A, t, l# z
commitments;
" M# x6 k1 w$ b& o• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
) k. Z; e3 O/ C• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective : V K7 T' _( s) }% e
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
( w5 d4 G) h/ x$ g2 p" q• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
" n. D4 `' \" |• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
& j) o4 P1 R( h G9 E+ w1 Weffectively and positively represent the association;

6 S7 A$ H0 y2 r% e& b• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( Z, e6 Y* Q* Q; L3 |; O* Fthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
' z6 W* j! G/ m7 {• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ; [. b( w. Q7 T0 a" Z% r+ O
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
/ j, f1 f1 x* Z7 Q+ Bthe forthcoming year;
% M i8 ?+ J$ B" z6 p4 V# r1 Y• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 3 g" m( r. }/ O1 G$ L; L
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
) _3 |6 }* T# x( C) F• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% l( @3 R* O* {• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation - a5 C; O5 n, U
abilities;
0 G0 ?% }% u8 z• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% ]1 R6 y9 L. p. `5 s9 CNetworking and Fundraising;
, d8 \6 i, V* M- X) i/ c• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
* T8 G5 d" c/ fand financial statements; and
4 m# f0 a5 B0 o, p• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
