Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ' O* Z9 Z$ P# P D
execution of the YWCA Strategy & K/ i0 D) k6 ?! C3 ~: Y q

Specific responsibilities include: R4 W/ v9 Q0 S2 {: H0 ~6 C# V

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
! c$ P9 @" S6 p! G) V. `the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 1 ?9 r N/ B9 \6 B0 Z$ I

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ D! f1 U1 b* Lincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
V) }9 M" ^: k8 x) henable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 9 o1 y- t {9 G6 F3 k
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' u* b5 ]& ~- ^! G8 z1 B% \/ Bobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; $ l( t9 ?' |5 b8 L+ }
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
7 r W% N( }. f6 }6 Q& Wthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; : I% \" h! }" P. p% ]
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
2 U0 t& A4 y% c J; T! ychanging needs of the organization and community; 9 q# l8 }" s2 z
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
2 l$ A! f4 R' F4 hcommitments;
! p' x% m% x+ a( F6 @5 i9 R• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 8 F3 U1 H$ x. @: B
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
) p, @: ]- Z- @/ tselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ; Q* Q3 b4 e/ Q6 Y' z: @
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ; M5 ?) Z& _6 s+ T3 o. J% k8 } L
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) |9 U8 l! P- W, G1 i
effectively and positively represent the association; ) U( s* ~8 r% L! t- ]
& r9 F' A- H4 u# i• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / q6 [5 l! ]8 i0 R0 @% Q7 Y8 W
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 4 r: I/ J9 q. e9 }
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. E8 w1 n& q4 Z" \performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
4 S) z0 i8 H% W: z) |the forthcoming year; ) C: W, D/ J, K. X; K
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
9 J9 h. J& q8 t6 M# _ Q& Upractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
/ L! U! d% P0 t' P; h2 s! E8 wYWCA Canada; and
' z' X( e* d# \, z• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

/ s4 |& t9 W2 X9 w2 S• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
