Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: 2 L0 y1 ~* E K1 c* O |4 h& C
$ X A3 O' n, m/ E• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
' ]2 T6 e# K0 a3 Fthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ' E4 W' d3 g% R9 W1 D5 n* Y
the Board of Directors;
9 b; ~0 K N) N2 O4 E6 l; V1 m• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
/ j A C1 L3 e3 W0 v2 O# _2 zincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to $ m, P3 Y& l+ x
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
0 j- y- ~$ z3 T; g3 q. l• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ z' ~, i ^( Yobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 5 B" Y6 C5 M b( d z Y
the board;
9 R6 R" d3 X- B' h9 E" e• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
7 v& `- H, z5 {3 L; x• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion $ A. i4 }: P8 g) v0 \+ j/ I+ F/ |
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 4 K: a! M1 @8 x* `
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * d# @( B6 I7 B3 {, a9 m' F- w+ w- [
commitments;
1 [- F. B( C3 ?* r! V$ a: Q7 L• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 6 R: c5 g: |6 S" g2 B
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 s. s6 ~# [" D, U z+ v
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
# Y) q( a7 K7 a• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
6 J: M6 q! W% F* P• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 8 B; _9 | E% ^% v6 j
effectively and positively represent the association; - z; s% _ L; q- d

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring $ x, d& @6 {0 z3 D* O" O1 u6 B3 @
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
( f$ R4 n$ V2 b1 w8 H# X5 V• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal # z5 b% O7 C, a* O8 _; d) s- O% n
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ! `1 u5 F; K) X9 C* _2 k
the forthcoming year;
9 H8 D) Y4 B) d' F8 p• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
3 o4 N3 w f- ?- I; Q: F% vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of * w, b$ w- n, ~
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
& b- {" [& C- |6 u• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
* P+ y" @' D, J# Z & h$ Q( ?: q- y$ M! w+ d$ ]
Required Experience
1 B1 X" E# R7 G• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( m2 y; b3 r$ D) x; N5 y4 b8 x& M• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
+ ~' S# d9 C* k u) n5 Wabilities;
1 d+ T' g D0 }/ u, Q+ f) C5 W• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 0 S" ]' q& z; `$ y3 |8 p. R
Networking and Fundraising;
