The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

surrounding region. Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA

' I$ E& r5 [$ B$ xReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
/ j% d% T1 h( ?& n* s$ pexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
/ Z: r. B' d, D$ V) cthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 7 T+ c# }- l! k& F
the Board of Directors; $ D% b" B% _6 `, B6 a( w4 _
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 1 i% }. t9 P* P/ X6 A
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + Q$ u' a- ^5 h8 c* O& e/ L# ]
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 9 u5 i0 L. N: h. N3 T
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
* |! X, f4 _9 |# x2 Sobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
7 C: L! w1 U4 z) C5 C( m+ o; n' T$ w• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
* I* o" Y: Z1 Cthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 ^6 \9 y% Z# W- s/ ~6 ^' ?( a
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 8 N$ i! f' r# C c R4 y
changing needs of the organization and community;
+ O5 ?- R* A6 j3 `& E• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue $ R9 w$ K' \4 \. x+ b2 v
commitments; / Y& N0 E2 v' q: w- G9 Q
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
5 ~) _$ q8 s: o( X! q• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
; H0 X; p4 s9 O0 |% T) z# T Eselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
3 w' T. @+ a2 X: T" Q' z0 ?. m• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

effectively and positively represent the association; ; P) V& Q% Z9 `% K
8 a; F6 q9 {9 _# C- K• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring & | p# U) l% U6 U
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; $ y+ q. [" S) I; n- Y$ p+ \1 @9 Y
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
+ A. t4 P) a9 F# d) `. ~performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
+ }0 F9 y. f$ b! D- kthe forthcoming year; . t! ~! v6 y0 d! T1 U5 P; F
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: f# S# g# r) c2 M, l) Qpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of % f% I4 b! N; D
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification : K+ p( I) r7 G: v
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

. Y" X9 H) X; R5 V• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 F1 F* A5 h# m( A# `# i. V( C• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation / ^5 c4 M/ a. }) {
