Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
) h/ P& N, e( K3 T L7 |% aexecution of the YWCA Strategy $ u! J/ W- i! z. z$ ~+ Z

Specific responsibilities include:

6 x3 d& e9 i P" @* q& m• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
& Z/ q6 ^; x3 M6 ?. Ythe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by # J; L$ I$ U1 Z# [" L6 B/ @
the Board of Directors;
3 d4 J/ p5 K1 w' s$ L• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& m/ h% d+ }) J( ], m3 X, l( r5 wincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
+ E& t' d1 O. r" Denable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; % P1 c" P3 X1 o
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
( {( t- P5 ^- L% T4 y7 m0 ^; robjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
4 V0 i: \. V# E7 e( tthe board;
) Y' V6 [5 ?. P7 E• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 4 X9 C- S" A3 ?, a
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 6 a6 M! q9 T6 W! A- T6 J6 W8 \( S
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 F4 x/ Z4 h2 w) g
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
) q' g' R8 ^1 {4 b* v4 L9 d/ C5 Fchanging needs of the organization and community; N- f7 @% a: a6 @" {# q
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
' k" L) H0 _9 F; i- ?commitments;
) x9 D& y8 ?7 \9 q7 v8 K( e• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 6 P8 w1 v* {8 b& R2 X% f. K2 E
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 3 F! M0 t6 _0 e0 i0 a
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ! m: _$ Y. T0 I+ ~! u
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 R6 R; c1 Y4 d$ @( e/ Q* g0 X
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
: X% U- |( j9 ^effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
; ]2 r+ v6 D( M# r" Kthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 2 P+ c9 O* M4 A1 X, X, t& z! E
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 N( I4 ^9 g# S, iperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 7 l1 y: T! m) o m* O6 j
the forthcoming year; 4 I! O( w' Q1 k+ f+ i
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
1 ]1 R7 K/ [4 T3 a2 M' ]practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - O3 }" R% F& Z4 c5 @
YWCA Canada; and
2 p. O3 Q m' Y6 j• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
5 \6 e, h- i; p0 r• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
! p2 D1 e# ]# M• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
; p( c$ Y! Y+ e; d) t/ S% G$ |6 f• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : m( c8 \+ M! w N0 Z
abilities;
3 L6 M0 b q( k; ^+ i. u$ h• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" t, i' b# l! T3 zNetworking and Fundraising; : i; b7 }) ]( v2 t
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting / l) ]/ R1 y( J0 M1 M
and financial statements; and
9 J" [ p# N5 a$ J• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
