The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and / G! n d$ J2 {
execution of the YWCA Strategy , X" R8 S' l O

Specific responsibilities include: t3 Z6 U ?& y; w- ~) ]& [5 B. m
' h: N" V' o+ b2 J' F• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " G) ?1 z' R# }: G5 F
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
) g' K; [( O9 r/ H* F8 T& c) vthe Board of Directors;
; @6 X( M* I: p, d6 H• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
% S/ O+ \! V% ^3 X+ F. s: b- M8 Q; p; |including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to $ U6 j) }& b/ I7 Y, {) p" I6 @& G
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 4 w3 G) k* v! G. P( h# s
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' R- L4 X9 s# A0 ?9 N6 f iobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 5 h2 `4 o( p6 i6 {6 L) a2 M3 \$ u
the board;
5 R# z7 J) |+ ?( P• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; $ S' O! h& k* n4 b4 g6 ]* _5 u
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 9 {. C7 w# y# U6 n/ E) i8 I1 F
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 9 j; U6 |- _: C* _5 _
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
- Y- N* b w' H3 fchanging needs of the organization and community;
! `! N( B5 q. J8 X. H/ @ s8 ^• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! T: q% h4 Y3 L, Q1 _; s5 R
commitments; ' s2 K+ q3 w) O0 r& y
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 2 o, @0 k' e/ s
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective |4 M- u+ n6 ?' N( D9 \
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
& ~0 I; t$ [) t4 a# A0 j+ X Y' s• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
5 o+ o# L& x) E1 F7 \- K: ~; p; Z4 f• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
% }) q6 h$ X' f, weffectively and positively represent the association;

2 Y6 s* P5 s( A7 @• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( @! q( o [2 g9 wthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
9 s2 {/ Z* A `/ V7 X; d# z* ^9 V- ]• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
; c8 G* J0 ]7 q" |8 m0 L/ {/ aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( G; F3 W! K: u7 O9 p F
the forthcoming year; * b# j: w1 [, O& o1 V7 J! Y" L! L P
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
4 E `6 j$ R& Z3 |practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 2 ?% \, {+ a: t5 {5 f) v
YWCA Canada; and

) I( R9 D u* n$ ?; b• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 0 H6 D1 X9 P j4 ?: D" O
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 N$ w( F$ C% e4 I
abilities;
