Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

/ o# S5 a0 Q$ Q$ z+ R• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of % t" a9 h |- ~4 d
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
3 v9 Z" k) j* c( p/ [! B. uthe Board of Directors;
! ?' _# g* n+ i) u• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
1 s" `. D/ J. _) I+ V5 Kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ' {( Y" U. C l2 Z6 x; X
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; # J% [- Z8 j: |
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and * a! T7 q% x: Y. Y5 j2 |4 y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & c; |+ \' n; F( ^3 h
the board;
$ J! g" V, y4 R# x# v• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 6 [$ |$ @& u# h7 M0 q' U) T8 ]
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 [3 E0 |- T1 [the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; & Z% b4 q7 e! Y, c9 s) I
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
) ?8 u. e6 _5 {* ?6 G5 K! h# }changing needs of the organization and community;
; [7 I! ]$ P$ C7 X) R' @• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue - ~& G3 u T" c$ g9 f- T# d+ x
commitments; # V E$ o. d$ D2 p
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
: Q4 A, ^) [, c1 J- J* g9 @* B. y• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective / y# j3 E3 i0 w- {7 {9 Z* R# o- B* _
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
1 \) Z' F% [# z# C) F' I• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
& ] M4 s) `7 F* I8 e' N) `6 @the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
* s( c* ?! i0 X0 @8 a+ J5 f6 |• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal " V8 Q& ~: s5 Q3 N# J
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical

Required Professional Designation / Certification 9 s1 ^1 e6 j0 i
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 3 l' T- R; P, Z- M! `! [

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 8 e* ]5 g" L/ K/ L# u7 t' C
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' o7 e( \' ~3 T6 c5 e
abilities; 0 ^8 a. P# B1 i. r& `% Q5 F3 k
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
+ Z6 E/ B. u- e' Z tNetworking and Fundraising;
( N& O9 l0 ?; f7 T• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
: W) f& o4 x* D- z$ i( R& rand financial statements; and / U+ q+ S5 M( k
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
