Responsibilities

0 q: k$ }4 x, O1 bReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ( v7 s9 ~4 A% i4 S3 M4 X
execution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 1 T: _2 b U; a+ o, X
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by * p/ M8 J3 }4 s& G/ T6 G
the Board of Directors;
8 ]7 d) v& }4 n" {: o4 M• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % D* `: I1 S. y& Y( i
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
% q w3 O! |. V4 P% {% xenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; " B) \- g7 p: N1 F6 v/ Y
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
& ]0 X" E5 n& g: G6 y6 }) [5 cobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 m# {8 m+ X- {' c- }8 w
the board;
$ p2 Q; f& [& {2 W1 a: A• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ; i Z5 `# [4 S6 J" i
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion # W, b: [" E- y/ O
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; @8 D, \: V w$ ~
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
4 B; q7 C$ |. L+ W8 `; tchanging needs of the organization and community;
: e+ C8 @8 @3 S; A• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
: O: T8 R- u9 i9 Q1 z4 o1 Zcommitments;
! [2 g$ q" X; O8 W* I% o& c: j+ e# R• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 ~- l0 Q: P3 v- S% `" n- }• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
2 O, `) q; E* j) `% {! @* Fselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # o/ i* n" y- w, O: e# G1 [- |
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

effectively and positively represent the association; ' W _: y; y# U7 O9 a& N4 u
/ o' ?% L/ {; Z( a9 c/ e1 @, v• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ; ?7 w& f- B) t0 c+ J" M
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 2 }) B1 p) g2 [9 v3 R
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , K# ]1 \! w/ }0 w* t
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED / ], e! p2 w! n( l
the forthcoming year; . @2 C" j/ Q; [& |1 v0 x
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
* U, a t* p" ]( \; |# qpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 7 R# ]' ?& u! B8 [+ k
YWCA Canada; and $ W% c3 O$ ?4 t! ?) n5 h
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Professional Designation / Certification
$ w# w' X* n/ I& `/ p: h! k• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
' h, Q8 b; a+ {- y9 r, h$ D• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; & X2 P, P5 v) h* {0 Z, _" R- n
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation & V$ s" h) I4 s+ a4 K( e
abilities; - r. ]9 p+ C: `
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
$ \/ Q! T6 [' o; t6 a) V# u8 H' rNetworking and Fundraising;
% b4 S+ w% }, a( v• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
% F% T/ h: z3 \8 q: |and financial statements; and
