Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 8 x& j& |0 |. N7 {2 Q% v/ Q
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 H7 _0 N# k" L$ X) n) p0 p# Lthe Board of Directors; 0 g c0 e" ~3 Z N
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
) H5 j, s# L4 [+ l- |including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
# x" Z: L; ^9 r+ b( penable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; $ Z" J; e7 `. @% f* p0 U5 s& s' D
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 {4 _' n: n6 l# }8 [
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
5 k7 n, ]: P& Vthe board; & G4 V8 \& |' _9 s e8 n
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
( ?: x9 A" M7 g• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
5 X6 n: @+ p5 nthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 F3 o: D0 s. M h I
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
9 `" \- l( U: ?' G- F5 Zchanging needs of the organization and community;
; `5 {: g- w; L9 t3 C/ Y+ S8 ~• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue $ G7 P9 x: a! z' b
commitments; 3 K! l# ^' d$ d+ l+ |* _
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ( x/ J3 i! G$ T: i! \ w
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
* c. ?0 I; G: [0 o, c( F8 b' Hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
9 o) x' F& G: U( V2 v; B• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' t( G% W1 m$ ~3 }: cthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
I) `7 d, p% |5 ?• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
: | n& w4 E3 I) q% X( L; operformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 r6 f% w3 e! b2 F' W% r' [
the forthcoming year;
2 [) Z. [/ H! Y6 n• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical * G2 x3 x+ Y: c
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Professional Designation / Certification 5 K( ^; k- ]& K% ~5 e
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
/ U* e5 M- z) @. ], L• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation & v6 p) |6 o; r% [" g* _) o
abilities;
% a) B4 ^" ]9 K: R# {9 x• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
& _" f ^1 s8 ~; c3 ZNetworking and Fundraising;
