this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 6 y6 x) b4 x7 |" S/ `2 I4 t
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and   y; b$ a3 j' u; R- i7 _

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
( r0 q' F$ e. }2 [0 |4 iexecution of the YWCA Strategy
+ g2 j* A* E0 q0 u' t% c+ e4 `
, f) a4 N8 e3 A9 o* A- qSpecific responsibilities include:  " Y, x1 w. q2 s0 S

•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' D( m) I  y5 Y6 [! ]8 D
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
6 f( g: C& V" h( Bthe Board of Directors;  
. x5 `8 o9 I6 {9 Y1 k# ~•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
" a# W. p3 b. ~% R. ^2 H, @( Rincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 1 }( y; @8 m: w. b" V: N$ M% }
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
1 @& F- M! V. R3 [•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and % o/ D0 O9 j! J
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
, i6 S* U. M. D/ q1 X3 N8 ~the board;  * }. P6 U& j8 F8 k9 t* f: c! U
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  6 v8 u# n$ C( X
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& O3 i8 Y& n- S4 a& N0 mthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 4 b9 t; {4 C3 {2 [! q
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
, d! B# v; F. W" dchanging needs of the organization and community; $ B2 X* S# t' j: g
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue * Z9 i0 W1 r. ?% S+ ~0 C
commitments; . U6 @7 b8 H9 b5 M# [  M4 t1 H3 G
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  + ^1 h  h) H- x- g) k; Z8 J5 b# t
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 9 U# S8 Q/ z4 X
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
# q" |2 w% C8 o9 W4 k' e9 G( b•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 7 e# n; J+ ?. o- S( B
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % S6 \. t) F8 y
effectively and positively represent the association; ; {6 d2 y, l5 _/ K3 l

# E: b/ z) [1 h4 W& e$ B•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring ; X$ Q' {8 f/ h, [* N- v# W0 z
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  + r7 I9 i( a' Z2 x2 X
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& Y. s& M3 x: K9 @& ~; v, zperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! J2 e6 c. U0 \7 gthe forthcoming year;  
+ s( a' r* T$ q* ]  k•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% `7 R: H8 u# M) \7 Dpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 6 w- E( V: z7 Z) z( p6 w
YWCA Canada; and 3 w; u- u, v6 H- t  u
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
6 {, }2 r- h2 z# IForces.    I- d: c. h0 Q" L4 Z4 j' |
  ( m2 v# i1 O- l( s1 X; K+ ^
Required Skills & Abilities 4 v6 Y6 ^) g4 P5 G5 F
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
6 ~0 E/ `5 @- o' h' [# t•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 7 N: i: C* k* C$ Q2 e0 t
around decisions, plans and actions;
# E8 g/ H5 }4 r- a! d2 l•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
3 A; M$ i9 ^3 Z•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable " B5 L. P: D, Q3 q! J$ J
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
4 a) I8 T. X+ k# ?•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ' [% H5 \7 M* ?$ Z$ J& F/ p: H
simultaneously; - K, T# L" \' [0 v- z
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
6 \) b; h- a# W# K( W+ lrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; ) p" q% \4 ]4 o2 h
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

+ o/ y& f+ b% E' g; r•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

3 {/ P* ^& L/ j; r  IRequired Experience . E. k' d0 t* K( F4 v1 ]; `' R
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 7 c- c% L/ x: Y" d9 S
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 L! o3 ^) e* [/ ?
abilities;
, a* T% n. o! e$ u•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 s% _; j% ]! n' x! @Networking and Fundraising; % ~2 |$ D4 ]! U( M& x. g# e5 O  w& i
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( _8 V5 Z# p: C% ?and financial statements; and
; c) \* r3 D0 b% D# |1 N, v•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 6 B/ \7 [+ t& S7 L$ n1 e, Z( e3 I
centered perspective.
