Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and $ _5 P) R7 R# u, s" F, h
execution of the YWCA Strategy

. Y) z% p2 K- T$ `• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 1 W' E% @ H# m5 g1 R2 r t
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 o# k. Q2 Y2 R
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
! `( v( N$ y$ }# i, W8 f/ aenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 3 o* n, u9 j1 L2 u
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and & K* c5 G2 D. ]0 h4 s
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
* b8 m% Y7 b; g+ ?2 ]• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 V7 x. G5 h2 a( Sthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # F( O9 d; P! g" c& J/ }, i
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
# A! E- n7 e7 z7 U, c/ F& vchanging needs of the organization and community;
3 L; }$ x- I; x+ m' X• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; + k3 j( C2 R N2 L4 Q
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
. o$ l' n8 P8 B% X( [selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
8 I3 V0 K; h8 g+ J, A' P• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , ?! q' H: w B" b% {6 a: ^
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
. [: i2 n' Q3 l9 |the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
" K8 i6 ^; n. r: W; b8 ]4 K3 C1 Z• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
* _' I. U6 d% E4 s1 ^! ?1 Bperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED - l @0 K, o Y. D3 \* L1 P
the forthcoming year; 9 k d* o( L/ c$ M8 Y& K
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- H" d: c( x$ Z% j6 Apractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
/ G# f' i% k9 Y- a9 a' p6 Z( sYWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. - C+ Q0 F$ g2 k* r. ~$ u7 g1 C* U, M: o

9 M% E* h' d4 m& j; P• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 3 n3 W+ u9 y2 f- }2 ^: X# D% J% D
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, : ], {' x+ i0 Q. E6 \$ i( Z3 P

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting & H" a! [3 H( a8 u
