Two cutler –hammer advantage starters are doing the same thing:
& H. t" I/ C, Q) T- e, h* |; F After start 2-3 times, they will quit working, if you toggle the start and stop buttons on DCS screen , you will get another 2-3 running before they quit working again.
) B5 W- A. e) Z0 I* D" l# g; S8 PIt is a cycle.. V. [9 L7 v& {' c% O
+ Z& R* {1 I7 F4 Y! VWe isolate the network control and use the local start and stop only, the problem remains.8 ^6 A) M$ g2 p. P/ V# E/ p1 V
Swap one of the defective buckets with a good one, the new bucket works fine.
* v, y# `6 j0 O" sThe problem should be inside the bucket.& m- P/ }: U2 @5 B/ n) k1 ~
% U2 F% N( e- n- D kWhen the problem happened, we observed that the contactor has a pulling action but will not seal.
+ z% W/ ]' V, a A' OUse a terminating screw divers to push in the contactor, it will not seal either.
; M: M5 N/ t3 ^. c7 X, p# V6 cConfirm with TECH support this should be a problem with the control circuit board inside the advantage starter, we bought two new control circuit boards and replaced the old ones, the problem is still the same.' N' U9 |0 g! S t8 f7 {3 E3 c6 P% g
3 [( L0 x2 C! E7 sThe next thing we can think of is the coil, we took the coil out to have a close look.
; I1 n0 X( k* c% _! X! YThey have a fork to pinch inside the two leads to make connection, it is not a good design at all. We soldered the connection and tried again.4 ?' f* h- c. Z- ~/ k& D
It is getting better this time, we have 7-8 times of running before it quit working.

The coil should be the problem, we ordered two of them. But it will take 5-6 weeks for us to get them. % n9 t) Y& z& n O
