What is the first thing you need to do and need to know before working on an electrical cuicuit/equipment?

The question is unclear?
Firstly, the equipment or circuit is energized or not ?
If yes. You have to get the permit to shut down the power. After you get the permit … fill a form sing the paper…. You have turned the power off for this equipment or circut. After that , you can do what you want to do.
