In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. " J. w# I0 [) o2 Z: n
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
r$ V/ |- i" R- U, TAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
8 u) b8 g- w' d. ^5 d; E* W$ [ xOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 9 _ K' N7 M1 {9 C
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
$ c4 s2 [- t# L8 u! ]5 @4 hMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
. ^! O* Z- u( X! J7 ?1 yExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
/ X# b/ j9 ?% n9 x/ oEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. / ?4 h* S" j$ @ L+ V7 v
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. - Q& d$ S! I# i/ l/ f, c `" R
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
& S3 U( `- C* J* \& tIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 0 K) ^2 K% L) T, ]8 q/ v
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 9 b2 o9 ?* \0 p/ J
Qualifications
$ g1 g, N! t5 ]* Z( EA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. * d7 |% P% @3 g) e& T4 `
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
! Z4 t+ n. q$ G* `Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. * o( _3 O. K* l: A: _7 c1 n/ D+ M& c
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
\- ^% T+ F: F' K0 R9 t: h% CIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ! s7 A5 r, j" Y% ~/ @4 e" Z2 U
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ( P" x* t% z- N0 ]
