Responsibilities
! j) ~6 t/ K6 bIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 5 R8 n; X2 y' k! V* J' A3 { a
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. R) p* J% _# R7 n8 ^, Y1 w; u
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
) b$ k: o8 p7 ?Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
8 z- N- B$ K1 Q: RMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 5 v8 d+ a% n9 g: \, Z( ]8 I1 L8 l
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
( o% t+ j2 P9 IExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
# r4 A) y( H5 ^" t. o9 REnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
) U) E; |+ }* \4 j1 h' F1 d9 e# r$ IDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
$ y- @& I7 P' ` }; lAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
( }# }7 n0 }+ x3 U- S8 iIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. . E% u! W" ?# ?! v4 }( g6 g2 [
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
, |& k2 h! h, KPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
4 P8 j! P9 _* L4 e& H Q$ D. \7 xPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
+ |$ v5 Z3 e2 Y% y' ]5 _Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- ]' ?* X: M1 K4 c( V0 B# ]- A9 BIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 7 F5 g% u" e3 \5 _, q: j8 i8 b0 L) N
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
