2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 cup shortening
$ u; e9 v% K" ~& t3 n, |4 e1 egg
3 `5 }# G6 x# R5 ?2 r1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar Z! \; N( q4 Z. i6 ~
1 1/2 cups cold water

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut shortening into the flour until it is the size of peas. 7 |# i/ b# r; l. A% O1 U$ L! M* C
In a 2 cup measuring cup, beat the egg lightly. Add vinegar, then fill to 1 1/2 cups with cold water. , r5 i' H/ m7 z
Add just enough liquid to flour mixture to hold the dough together. It should be approximately 4 tablespoons. Reserve remaining liquid for your next batch of dough.

1/4 cup water 2 T+ ?) h) S$ e" W- e4 Z( i# f! ^3 m
2 tablespoons lemon juice
& |& ?/ A8 O7 H4 [$ g3/4 cup white sugar & g: e6 q9 l: _- g0 D2 x
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour - q. R0 c& L7 \- {
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
" Q+ Y6 R4 }# e( X, ~6 XIn a large saucepan, simmer berries in 1/4 cup water for 10 minutes. Stir in lemon juice with berries. Combine sugar and flour together in a medium bowl, then stir into berry mixture. Pour mixture into a pastry lined 9 inch pie pan. Dot with butter. Place second crust on top of pie; seal and flute edges.
