A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.

, B' t7 y+ ?' {! C+ GThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
" |" }) q3 W( M* h0 l! I) b& [No illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA). % g8 O& ]' k( x( }- ]' l6 C
@1 ~" w2 `- B+ yIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.

% t( `8 F& u9 m1 U! |# OCFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
