A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.

" m0 Y' R4 S, ^4 m/ B7 aThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.; D2 \9 P6 Q0 O* u& @4 _0 _
No illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA).

/ b/ G5 M1 l$ P/ }7 a! hIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.

) Z m5 B+ K5 ]- F# @5 ZCFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
