Canada's next generation of leaders could be soon be discovered after a Calgary-based program for youth was rolled out nationwide yesterday.

5 t2 X5 B0 T8 |5 l' F3 Z) ?5 t) E The Impact Society has launched the national expansion of the HEROES program, which began in 1994 in Calgary, that helps junior high students identify their personal strengths ultimately overcome challenges related to growing up, said founder Jack Toth.# X; I! e( U2 \$ y/ U% r0 k6 }5 J

"The essence of the program is to build confidence, character, and integrity of young people," he said.

* y Z9 v1 [+ G/ p# Q To support the HEROES Across Canada initiative, Calgary Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr has vowed to make a donation to the Impact Society for every hit he makes on the ice during a game.- R" a$ \' E" X* | O/ w# P
