: L' N- s) Z* E0 c6 Z* IChange for Children is looking for a Program and Administrative Assistant who is highly motivated, has excellent ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, be able to manage a flexible work plan and take direction from Program Managers to ensure timely and consistent administrative and program support to our vibrant organization.

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (CFCA) is an Alberta-based, charity with 33 years of experience working for sustainable, community development in Latin America and Africa and providing a comprehensive global education program in Canada. CFCA is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors and a small, flat-structured core staff which includes: International Projects Program Manager, Education/Public Engagement Program Manager and Funds Development Program Manager. CFCA’s projects and programming are funded by private donors, government grants, foundations, fundraising events, and campaigns.

Key administrative duties:

) |7 a, W3 I" ~- g• Act as first point of contact for donors, partners, members, other stakeholders, and the general public.8 c5 `5 P+ y7 H) J1 k

' y! G) U8 Z/ K2 C• Maintain an organized filing system for office records, meeting minutes, government registrations and donor records; Process annual government and charitable registrations forms.; ]: q8 {' h8 K2 Z0 w% {

• Order and organize office supplies; Manage and maintain office systems and environment including policy and procedures manual and office operations manual.0 a' W8 k" b( h

• Manage office technology software licensing and hardware maintenance.

• Manage all CFCA administrative communications such as liaising with financial institutions, service providers etc. related to administrative management.

Key program support duties

9 E. r% r2 O' g; H& R• Process volunteer applications, track volunteer hours, and assist with volunteer scheduling.

1 e+ ~" \) w. l* Z" b) m• Identify and maintain a current media list and database. File all media articles and press coverage of CFCA.

• Support management of online publicity and communication tools.- w6 x4 ~) ]: ?$ \/ p( I  ~" l

• Support the promotion of CFCA events in Alberta through online and print publicity resources.

• Compile information packages for fundraising and promotional purposes.* @$ K3 y  K- W

• Provide administrative support for public engagement events and mail outs.: h* Y/ _! u. l) ^- B

• Weekly out-of-office errands as required (get cheques signed by Board members, drop off grant applications, and pick up office supplies). These errands will require personal transport.

Fund Development

  c' l2 S! V; b3 G• Provide logistical support for key fundraising events such as silent auctions0 K) j; N* O1 V% S) T, P" @/ w

% f& p- ]6 l% |5 t* e0 u• In conjunction with the Funds Development Program Manager, maintain donor database and ensure delivery of timely charitable receipts.

9 L6 n( V  q1 U& z) |! f8 N• Coordinate volunteers for some fundraising events such as Casino and annual sales events.

& l* l3 E# q0 z• Support logistical work required for CFCA’s Annual General Meeting

" X7 i. a! H9 g7 g# K" M0 k• Assist in administrative tasks related to donor recognition and event reconciliation as required.; y; \  f6 O8 Y& t3 ~7 c4 a

" `& s) {% C& [' M7 s8 \- PSkills and Qualifications: Education or work experience in office administration and experience with non-profit organizations an asset. Excellent communication and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook or Outlook Express; Willingness to train on other relevant software; Very strong teamwork and time-management skills; commitment to social justice and sustainable community development.

Spanish language abilities are an asset.

Starting salary is $18/ hour with benefits to be negotiated upon hire. Position will commence on November 01, 2009.
