Duties
9 |! P- j2 O7 r5 l! B I9 |- {5 E" K/ j- w% F. l# f
* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
8 U% h( r6 d( y" @! H2 g3 O * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr) A% Q; \) l' b+ [! p. r
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
2 B9 O, ^- D9 C5 O% }" @ * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations$ V5 e$ ^1 r' X8 x e1 Y
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations( _& |7 T x: X# t
0 d; B( V* I# ?' } x6 KQualifications
/ q' R5 J6 R/ T+ f e6 q) N- c
. p& b7 o0 S2 x1 j& R) ^ * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
+ r) w" d& U: C! }0 b3 a * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation2 ^/ ?, S: f- V5 x6 h, m* z2 E
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers

* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset; v* `6 ]2 r1 b, s8 Y8 V9 @
