Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

j& \! R7 t, L3 ]2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students & U4 O' m. N* t* N: L4 A9 I2 ~- G
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Activity Planning and Daily Activity# d$ x8 w' s) x, Q5 i
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership. h3 P8 Q# u; x& P, ~
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
0 V1 p5 z% m7 t5 E5 A; M2 _• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 8 s3 i' G& [% R5 P
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
- J* ?/ q* C2 G; l• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
1 d; n f+ @( ?5 i4 R/ s• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:5 j' w# L, v2 B/ t( Q) c- y1 Z2 C
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
! R4 ?6 s% t2 o v8 U• Experience with children
5 S2 L! m$ j" h! Y' _( \• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
0 a+ K, W) b1 `% X" m5 k• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.7 z- D! C" f5 c8 R% m }/ X
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
# o @$ i# j0 @6 q$ r• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
) j0 f' X. K, ]• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 6 S+ ~4 Y' Q. S3 p1 I' S
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check ! M. ]1 |# I3 }# _- G
