Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include
* a; E7 f/ Q7 L; }0 W/ v8 T7 ?* nActivity Planning and Daily Activity7 E& ^. h4 v( J! I9 o
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership., ?6 i+ Y7 f9 U$ L0 M* H
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 5 W* [, n+ }0 O5 Z- N
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ' _5 d; ~' `1 Q, W
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
$ m) e) b7 {& X: P3 _- s( s) z& N• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.- d' U* w. T* i5 U0 B
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:4 B! w, s. I }& {& k7 _
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting/ i' t d9 E/ T/ h; |
• Experience with children2 a+ Z7 h% O9 V/ I! G
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
- V, q# H* \7 t• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
; F: b' V3 x* m( w/ \# _) ?• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
( }) x. x/ \! y• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
