Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

Activity Planning and Daily Activity0 G `+ H9 `$ z+ v
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.4 o, ?, T: j% ?! I1 q
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
( A- m5 v n: q- Q1 E• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, & g6 O. T3 m( l) }/ d
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.2 g+ f0 T# E, v. L2 s; ?) q
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.8 T$ z# x5 x3 s* L4 J
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting* ?- T) J1 v6 u1 [
• Experience with children
; f, R- Q' R4 y& ?• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
$ L: K" e. A! r* U9 _• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
. a" u/ p, T$ a: V• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented." Z0 Y9 W% r$ j7 ~# E" A" g
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources. L3 ]+ r: q, ^& w, {/ K7 D: j
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check . }+ w. g: H9 I
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
