FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
# ~; U9 g3 Z; a4 X. ksummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
# I# ]( O0 x- S7 o9 P! c8 f+ rsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
0 z. f# g- s2 J' b: N0 OAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% G/ Y3 L; R0 r3 C  e- a* Femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
$ H3 `; U6 \% t# E# J2 U+ a  I$ ^resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- {& k' d5 O6 w' g  Yscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

  t7 u( l8 i; w! j" ]1 f  i; oJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
+ s3 z& a9 Z- d9 }FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
0 y% X9 R1 P. @( Q1 J# Kwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
, T9 m# ]) `6 Y# O6 D- J+ `- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
3 T. T  a. l3 X+ D9 b* i- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred

7 J0 M* e) D) y7 {- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
7 R+ b8 `! \! j- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
0 z" [4 Z; K* X1 V/ Q, }( p3 F- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
3 u! l0 O( M- R% O3 @- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
