FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
6 `$ R( S3 ^7 X3 c2 Z. B( ~. N& kwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
2 a5 E% z3 B! E9 lartists from Northern Alberta.

: C7 j) z. D6 u3 z2 @FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

7 U4 P" _5 E! H7 S2 M& K' X2 |Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
: T6 p3 d* ]' E8 [! @- _* ~; a9 Zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

" Q) [% c) x5 ^Duties:
8 n+ _7 x. B9 m. w, v8 ]- Assist with research on acquisition grants
# C2 v. z- s: t# [  G0 \5 e" i- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
( ]* k8 q/ }2 `- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
7 J! c9 D( a* a3 p; r/ ^& p7 W- Provide vacation relief

Details:
1 t: A& X, ~" v0 L* Q8 O7 e2 N6 G- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
% O! x* n0 L& BProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
6 v! H- x1 ?# B# i5 Lsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

5 x2 G3 ?6 C( H  DQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' W$ i! m  Z% c- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
( u, i8 v: P4 @3 _- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& X6 D3 o6 c+ e' B) E* r" T- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
