2 q# B5 R/ O5 ~. uFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
. y$ J9 P: X3 P% Z  b$ j; I. {whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
3 ^* }4 S. B2 f6 Tartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
) x, r0 Q1 S; Q) vemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
: ~. u4 W% l3 k6 K7 ]! @screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
! Y0 @" N  g. S$ o9 l! h/ I/ l8 Jassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

6 g% h8 p4 z( G5 kDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
$ [. K: `! r4 f) r) N& f; B- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
& I7 ~% k* w4 Z3 J7 G9 X- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

! s; V' {+ B4 N$ {9 t* d0 ~' I# R- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
% P( [5 u. L# x. a- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
% j: o; W5 N  Q6 s; c: F6 I" {- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

+ K! l, ]3 g: G! YQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
; l; p, Q* ?/ k2 p0 x- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
9 ~+ r- ?0 s, x! [! u9 J- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
! R0 D1 ]! [0 }- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
