Position title: Community Development Worker
) O! }# q# t0 nTerm: 1-year Contract for Maternity Leave (Full time: 35 hours per week)
Job Description
( p3 w4 w$ w$ ~( d7 T9 ]-        community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to
+ m$ U6 A) w0 _* z# X+ C7 L        provide services for Chinese community
1 ?9 w3 I. S0 f6 K! e-        workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population
6 T; X* P5 d* h5 e2 d& Z; \) ?        access to mainstream services
-        fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of
) V9 H: l/ w. `* K        social services
2 ~" g: J% D4 p" c' n+ d* y( Z-        develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
6 i: M0 k' {& O- o/ ^- o-        coordinate good will activities and send out quarterly newsletter to members
-        update ASSIST website
" H) t7 l: ]! @% c! S-        demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
) m7 S- N% q7 g' U5 D4 z6 `' \-        participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
; Y, L+ ?. u% |8 H, H0 a-        assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

7 q1 b: x. |" v! Z5 z0 Z& j. S-        work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- q  [" |5 s1 y# N% q# q-        degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of
2 B' q5 Q' y; q2 D        experience and education
-        good oral and written Chinese and English skills
' A2 W. C$ S' c2 _' h* ]1 P; C-        experience in community work and immigrant services
-        experience in website update/design
  ?+ S+ W% D7 J) ~- m2 b/ q-        Fluent in English, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is an asset
