就是起外号，比如小四眼啥的。名词，表示这个行为。

著名圣诞歌曲红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫，就是典型的name calling. 歌词中有一句“Used to laugh and call him names” 就是起外号的动词形式，注意，叫谁的名字是call sb's name, 但是call sb names就是起外号了。

btw,这是我最喜欢的一首圣诞歌曲，我觉得all of the other reindeer赤裸裸的势利眼形象太可爱了！
