Payment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.
2 H: e" g6 W' J 2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.) q! X# w6 z% @( K& H2 {
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
; M# x6 ~, P9 N& G/ F7 I; [ 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.- p' h1 n7 w% G# `2 Y- B. j9 p
5. New Albertans must register for the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan within three months of their arrival. |
