crude prices improves. This implies also to good names such as Shell,

% l& h5 E }6 L( H) DRecently OPEC reduced crude oil production twice over just a few w3 y) H: ]$ j6 `* Y& k
months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan.
! c5 E/ [7 f; O9 _A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at
3 a7 _* L4 i+ S' Kleast $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount. 8 N2 U q0 B' z6 @6 W

6 m/ ^9 M. Z# W: l0 T; U% @There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face ( H# f- j( ]( v& W, Z( K/ W0 K
of so much news. These reasons are:

' o2 A* H: N% v0 p" w2 f3 g: V1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and
3 ` ] e# P0 Q4 win the ocean near Brazil. Each of these oil fields has more oil than * @% G$ |5 q8 E& C+ p( h2 j
Arabia.

; v, h/ A" e+ j0 W! ^2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

being used to double their output.

4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio + s0 t6 D: N& y( s* [
fuel is being produced from many plants and algae. The production 7 L+ d9 @7 j3 l. z4 c4 w
potential per acre in some cases is astounding. Many countries are
9 G5 _& p: z0 g! f% S3 d2 ^1 vracing to produce bio fuels.

' |6 [/ X F5 B5 ~7 Q9 g5. Virtually every restaurant in the US and all food processing plants
1 F( a! ^+ c$ z* h0 `are now selling their used oil to bio-diesel producers. Every pork, 6 Z/ E* {' q' t7 u& E4 \
cattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat
* r+ g& I& }$ j, @to bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
% N7 q0 S G n1 k3 tproducing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

6. There are 99 nuclear reactors in various stages of planning and : _# N- C9 ^ z5 S: u7 d" ]

expected to be built in the future. Much of the energy they produce

with new more fuel efficient equipment. Airlines and railway companies ; G' f Y, P4 r* d
are experiencing 20% to 25% better fuel econony with the new 0 s$ L' K$ X, I& Z
equipment.

- p6 B% S4 D8 \4 e3 IAirlines are flying airplanes with bio-fuel. They are finding the bio- * v7 P9 Q* j m/ Q; }# b$ C$ T
fuel is cleaner and performs better than jet fuel. 0 g8 a% h+ Z; E @* A9 w4 f" S. A
+ J2 W! A5 e5 u$ L8 ]! v
1 x4 \0 K9 t5 y( D8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to - x Y3 y2 ^! ^
capture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas ) {* D6 T9 k' Q8 S1 {& X2 I0 x
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude
. x0 l) y# k* _0 O+ V$ s2 W! Ooil.

9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2
2 z+ z# F) a) N# s nproduced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into
6 Q* X2 Z" V) S' Loil wells.
* x4 O; D) e+ A- C, Q* {4 C; [+ U( M! f m
: }+ Y5 R+ V& q% D; E10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy
0 N, D+ l2 u: R$ L, Q8 X& ?7 J" jsource. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US. $ b+ b3 ~/ Q& i7 g" G
9 e" k1 h" J0 S$ k. U- h. u5 U5 K" s/ y1 A- J, F# w; M
Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the 1 H' K" v! Q* q0 i$ S4 W
price of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world ' q" y+ |' v# _5 ~# O" j J8 U
changing. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability
* K ?; ~4 b" Q L$ Lto control oil prices.
