Edmonton — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a west-end apartment yesterday morning.# e: ?' X# x1 b* l* V$ n- G! I: T

Investigators have not released the cause of death, but are calling the death suspicious. \: j7 Q& {5 Q; \$ ]3 W
) \3 n6 V: n9 [, o9 KPolice say the address is known to west division officers, who have responded to the suite several times in the past for family-related disturbances.

A twisted samurai-style sword lay on the ground a few steps from the entrance, the only sign of anything amiss in the quiet complex.

Though neighbours say they did not hear anything yesterday morning, some say the neighbourhood is less safe than it used to be.% s5 Z; D/ d0 v. D8 | Y( g
1 Y* h) F+ Q; C: ?# J0 X“My granddaughter is 20 and is scared to go out,” Joan Harvey said while visiting her relative yesterday afternoon. “I’m scared for her.”

If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the 29th this year, ahead of 27 this time last year.
