奥华入围“加拿大最佳25间学校”

加拿大权威杂志“Today's Parent” 杂志2008年九月刊评选出2008年全加拿大最佳25间学校。全国共有83间中小学被提名，其中包括爱城的学校12所。Ottewell(奥华)公立初中（760人）由于注重学生身心健康入围全加“Top 25”。爱城另一间入围学校是175人的私立女子初中Jean Forest Leadership Academy.

Why they matter：
One size doesn’t always fit all. One-of-a-kind schools — particularly those with an alternative focus, such as technology, arts or sports — recognize that children have diverse learning styles and some can better reach their potential in different environments.

Just look at Edmonton Public Schools. Since 1974, the district has been steadily adding more options to its offerings so that it now boasts more than 30 alternative programs ranging from science and dance to Chinese bilingual education and hockey. If kids meet entrance requirements and there’s space, they are eligible to attend no matter where they live in the district. Even busing is available for a fee.
