I do not think Firefox is faster than IE. There are more viruses to IE just because it's more popular and Firefox is pretty new. If FireFox occupies 80% of the market, who knows what will happen. So just choose based on your own needs.
For whatever reason, Firefox should be safer, I am not saying faster though. But spyware/adware can make your computor very slow. Check you folder: ( }. }" l+ c; z- x- ~ & j0 C+ F; b* C+ H R8 X! U9 A! rDocuments and Setting\(your user name)\cookie or folder system32 to see what kind of adware\sypware already in your system / `0 p- T2 M4 E; l$ ?5 U0 S9 u% C( Q4 J* p B; l6 G

I am using Mozilla in my Linux and IE in my XP. Besides the muti-tab feature, they are almost the same.
