I do not think Firefox is faster than IE. There are more viruses to IE just because it's more popular and Firefox is pretty new. If FireFox occupies 80% of the market, who knows what will happen. It's nothing about ActiveX technology. There is nothing that is bulletproof. S" q8 @; |, o+ f% B8 A1 o D8 a/ v4 M; k$ V$ J
So just choose based on your own needs.
For whatever reason, Firefox should be safer, I am not saying faster though. But spyware/adware can make your computor very slow. Check you folder:* a9 q* ~: e3 O1 w+ P5 `7 m+ H

If you do not like the activeX, in XP, you can just disable it in the IE configuration. [' S! k$ r5 C9 F5 P7 O 0 ^" U: N% A# p3 p; P. V( N+ jI am using Mozilla in my Linux and IE in my XP. Besides the muti-tab feature, they are almost the same.
前几天用过firefox，没有所说的那么快， ( G. L G$ T8 p) h同意五楼的观点，IE，Windows 的用户太多，才发现那么多漏洞、安全隐患。4 D' G( i* S8 X" n
网络上，安全只是相对的，无论什么操作系统、浏览器、防火墙，仅仅能给我们提供一点点屏障，挡住的仅仅是像我这样的棒槌。
