& |& c% o! w7 \( I * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis8 R! F3 m) Q9 w7 o5 E- c
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography, X3 f; {: P& p. u/ b
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques- t& R2 B, r( B% {/ b! q
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client+ d9 Y7 j; O/ U
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
' I; n. j8 @. Q& d4 \9 F+ U * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals* F$ k5 t" U) q4 r- I, d8 d
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab, d/ X/ ~0 j5 T
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices

! D1 a" U& N3 h% G * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
5 w+ ?3 v0 c9 A* m9 a/ Y * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)5 K/ F. k! P \( W& Z! V: S
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
. \# p% O# Z, F( l3 b" F * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
