* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis1 I, K3 H2 f8 c( `! ?
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
2 b- r% s0 T2 B* g2 g* [# g& p * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques* @0 G% y8 z3 Z0 W7 v, T: k7 v
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
' X+ e. ^8 I/ K/ c! M1 e * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
" ?. b2 K h; \) C2 w% } * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals# B' |* c5 H- b! N1 y {4 m: A
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred- |1 z3 B/ B( j) z7 h) w: S; l- d
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
$ c# q, ?: {3 ^% m * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
- h: y7 Q8 \9 ]8 s; Z0 _9 q7 k0 p: q * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures$ K- C4 |5 Q; \6 V. e
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
