Duties5 z& a7 h4 t3 v% @9 J9 E

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
7 x* t. d N' U- `/ ~ * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
& R: R8 i; L7 f L) l+ a * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
3 V3 @8 i3 f$ C% ~0 Q R * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client/ R7 P7 ~) s y# G
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
! A1 |4 c0 T: ^1 a! [ * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
5 N2 O8 A5 I9 D) G * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
) Y" o! n6 d" ]3 J0 O * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices- ~7 o. _+ P$ Y7 J+ B$ e+ G j
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
: [, f- J+ c" z, ^0 t* m# t; s5 A
; Z$ j; j% K" q& R3 f# }, j) }# O, Z * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
, p4 ^6 a; W0 |0 N * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)( w" y6 ], Z+ i" q/ m1 K
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel! `: R! o0 R$ h& g! M1 E, c& B8 X
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
% T) W1 y" u+ ^. n * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
