Responsibilities include:

6 U y) O4 p$ [2 S' [# t1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
% |/ t e T3 k5 C$ [7 `• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
7 F; @1 r0 @6 a& V! _3 n• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
$ f: Y6 s' h3 ~, X' N6 }* X9 u• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
* L2 ^" V0 B$ h6 `/ I• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals4 i: Z0 a+ ^; z9 j0 N: z
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.8 C, }/ V3 I; s6 f' u
- T' P, N5 `) [2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
, o6 h* z3 h% b3 h! B• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.# @9 t% J/ R I; g
+ U. i4 `" e: `. C3. Tracking System
; O) X9 d) w) x( {! M5 p+ y• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s

0 k+ Y3 e/ D0 H+ t; x/ x/ e2 oCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

This is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening., Y' U, C f' ` i
