What activities will I do during my road test?

and Driver Examination Regulation. They are monitored to ensure they provide high quality road

· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the

The Class 5 Road Test for New Drivers

: j/ D2 X4 ^6 Y5 Y6 KThe Examiner will do a vehicle check with you. You will be in the driver’s seat and the examiner will ask you to$ Z( e$ M7 E& B) J' i s
assist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and1 O: f/ `/ C& L0 q# R }
demonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield
' `$ @) D5 @& Cwipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions2 A: d' N( q9 S
that you will be given during the test.

· You will be given ample instruction in advance for each manoeuvre and activity.

· The Examiner will not try to trick you.
* A! u* s& \& p) R7 r* x· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal.
: d- S f+ h0 B; D, Q· When the road test is finished, the Examiner will highlight the areas you performed well, as well as7 M" i- z6 \9 Q) Q. O6 k% F" v
the areas you need to improve upon. The points for errors will be explained at this time.3 I5 i$ J" Y: r* Q

What do I do when I pass my road test?

The Examiner will give you a copy of the Driver Examination Checklist form. You will also be given a copy of the
+ o9 U! L8 h6 |* i# eTest Permit. This will indicate that you have passed. Take this permit, along with your learner’s licence, to any/ y9 }% s* h# h8 a6 H3 t
Alberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this
6 w% C" E9 k+ qservice.
