9 l2 H3 \1 R2 B0 e5 s9 yAs the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.( Y- ]5 V  `/ a( F

·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.3 [8 y1 J4 u8 S* p* @/ n0 O; O

& E7 @4 A# S/ g% k& p3 ]·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.

·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

9 ~  G9 T9 s2 W1 E0 F2 U·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.2 h+ ?5 m5 L. K! L4 U7 Z. O/ _5 b

·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.3 v2 I0 @% v; H3 k3 H# X! r

; K1 n' O% g8 Z/ N; N·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.; F. L2 X, H$ M! v% @# e

·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.

·         An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.% u  q  u# ~2 Q) b8 q1 b
