Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. % x3 b, q" s- h- p

Job Description:
" l, Y4 ]: ]4 d- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community, y9 _+ o1 v0 x. J5 V1 M i
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services' |9 p% f! t' t+ c8 D4 _1 q' M
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
, J' m B v& N# Q& _6 i9 l- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
# Q8 t2 j }1 ~ H- coordinate good will activities
. u: F+ t0 C4 W- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members! ^( j" L) [5 x1 X2 b& c
- submit information for community news
0 \' k' Y# D5 P- prepare and send AGM information to members
7 n( c/ A# @5 y0 e J- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.* p9 _; |6 \( h& P M
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre. @$ ]. l3 X; y) w" U5 W1 [9 x) j4 w
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services$ O" d: B% F) M6 l; ^9 S1 U: c' p
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
/ i0 o$ t) F [2 L7 u- write quarterly and final reports for ISP E) K& M: T7 E$ Y
- explore new ideas for ISP 1 B c( u( G$ A' x
- hold regular meetings with ISP team1 Z8 D, k) j; I, f
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time3 X- w6 X2 ?! d9 Y6 G1 g# n
- update membership database

Qualifications
* [1 w4 J$ T7 p0 A- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
8 ]6 c# F" T% k+ j; r. V: z- f- good oral and written Chinese and English skills& V, [% y' s' b- q; }# p+ j
- experience in community work and immigrant services
! i @) N5 l4 Z+ @. b3 _" i3 L3 P9 f& X9 X- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars; c. b& G, K* ^& E& e& X
- leadership skills, t D; ?( p9 S
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills: G% T9 A, y$ G, I3 z3 ?6 _! O
