Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
: L7 J5 C' V- O: f- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
3 f7 E6 y: a- ~" r& s- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services; P4 z( e' j& ~: L
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies0 q- e$ j6 k) j( ] v2 V6 w5 [- f
- coordinate good will activities! B: i2 M* z& C1 q% x
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members! E8 n) I, o5 l
- submit information for community news 7 c: \- n7 b1 A, V1 v* Y
- prepare and send AGM information to members) k+ W# u8 Y& x) D5 w: ~7 q+ `2 E
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.0 R! p3 R" [$ P+ F# F9 c; |. E6 P
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP% t+ R+ s+ M( H' k* R3 c5 o
- explore new ideas for ISP

* \. ^& X/ i( ]2 D6 N- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
% i6 }- v. \7 y5 n! B- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
# g, J" G9 y+ m# T: {5 t7 `- experience in community work and immigrant services
: c# T! s: Z$ ~; A E- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars$ }$ N5 Z7 ?. w8 ]! w' T: T* Q
