The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional z8 f* W/ P+ i9 K3 e
venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that 3 n. o4 [9 y% {+ j! K
breadth and complexity, it is not possible to fully define or

focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,
# Y6 F( H" b- z; i' d0 v! A% Pstudents, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
# B8 t' h+ ~, M) U/ kThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:, k; t. t, U* g! n
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
5 ]7 T7 W7 n' q3 B5 ^+ DTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to

literature on an ongoing basis.

· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the * H+ ^ Z" d; z
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.( K8 Q5 }6 x0 B6 j2 G
· To develop new external clients for the venues.& V& O9 _8 N: |, C& h) V' Z

( H; Z, u' N7 H" H3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities6 W7 d$ E0 i; P0 ]" u

effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
, R3 _5 O, v1 nvenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and

the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited

· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
/ A* {% ?3 v9 C8 rand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining,
# a4 g+ b3 O( a9 h+ fevaluating and terminating, as necessary., _9 |! y# k9 ?' G/ }
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at 3 n- M5 _9 B3 H; X$ M& W2 a
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such
2 [3 K/ [& P) T- M8 D$ Y; h9 Uschedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and . e* q$ ]/ g5 b5 L: Z
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
, G) n) {( A! P: G2 x& p7 K) D) e1 Bis in operation or needs to be in operation.6 U, I1 U' y8 u9 }
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure
, ]7 I9 Q/ R) g2 ethat an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to
% z6 A! V; o* n6 ~+ Afacilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
" \ o& `- y$ ?, a, Frenters needs are met.
* x: ]0 D: r" r7 d! j1 r· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
5 H) {/ _0 I' U5 ~7 X# ~and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of : n& v- M+ h4 _' D4 ?/ V( N
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and 2 r7 g- B# \( b% e$ m
effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and , J* e3 D* E& a" F* E# r2 l
appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing

· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff

and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning 1 t' e( r1 O. N7 |
the staff of the venues.

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate

Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
$ h7 d* S" L. K$ `# q$ xAdministration prior to their submission for final approval.
0 S1 F7 H, G5 w4 i% [6 u· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively . \' m: Q- D$ T9 \( U2 \: u
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and - q7 o0 C2 X- W% C2 h v" E. O
administrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the
( e5 O% B7 Q# S- Ecompilation of monthly and annual financial statements, and such

· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial

needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the
; O: c! g0 L R- Evenues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this + ]' W# b1 d! X
is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes 4 G8 T0 R; E* }5 h' }% R/ z
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,
8 L u# A9 e+ j, Gpricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, , J' k4 q4 ^, p
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary ) ^; y, U9 @* l- v" y" o
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and # Y, @1 E0 b8 C. c0 Z
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.' A$ e% m% ?0 O, Y6 Z1 i2 z
· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures
2 L' a/ X* v qas may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-

· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to 3 H7 ], k* t1 |1 [# t
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.% O) |' B9 X! {
· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
/ n. ]3 `1 I3 V& @! o' {. mthat such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.( `3 z) ^4 o0 L" A Y
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their ( h+ }7 c: ^4 T6 }" s+ g$ K
particular event in the venues.
/ U! c( D* U; J$ d· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and 0 p& Q; D6 f; T3 F' Z
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the ) E0 ~- z1 P1 C" `1 x; Q" ~
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
! u5 [. Z& f3 }; _; E/ t· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular " ^/ e, I: `/ |" S* e4 ^
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.* V$ v, n0 G2 y# R
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
* E$ _5 B' l GSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately
1 q! D2 E$ L! G( K3 Tanswered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in " T7 a! o: b/ W v
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
7 X/ `! X& p ^ G! k To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, # t% R- u0 m. H7 U
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that " ]4 p/ k8 I0 ?
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision
; E4 ?( ^) s# e1 _made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of n0 X' j5 ]7 e: P& m
Programming and Venues.
$ B, r s+ Q, S9 ^! c· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of
+ ~3 ~& y h0 V6 n6 E* h6 F: Csignificant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
, s% l5 g* w; c- [/ Z: D0 pmarketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as & A8 i5 Z/ D! ]+ v8 O" k

· To attend such meetings as may be required to support the smooth
